Prince Harry was keen to show off his basketball skills as he and Meghan Markle enjoyed the last day of their Nigeria trip.

The Sussexes looked relaxed as they enjoyed their final moments during the 72-hour whistlestop tour to the West African nation. The duo jetted to Lagos to meet organisers of the sporting project Giants of Africa, as well as the kids who are helped by the initiative.

The 39-year-old Duke of Sussex was seen sporting a suit jacket while scoring a hoop – to which he received a roar of applause. He high-fived youngsters while his wife – wearing a traditional blue Nigerian skirt – stood courtside, chatting with excited local school children. The couple also enjoyed a performance from the kids – with Harry nodding along to the music while Meghan clapped her hands enthusiastically – before delighting the crowd as they joined in and showed off their own dance moves.

In a passionate speech, Harry congratulated the Giants of Africa – a charity which organises basketball camps for children across Africa – for their “truly amazing” work. He said: “The power of sport can change lives. It brings people together and creates community and there are no barriers, which is the most important thing.”

The Sussexes also revealed that their charity – the Archewell Foundation – would be donating to help the organisation build a basketball court in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja. The duo – who are set to jet home on Monday – have been conducting an “unofficial royal tour” to promote the Invictus Games.

Meghan – who previously dubbed Nigeria “my country” while co-hosting an event about female leadership – described that she had first heard of the initiative while living in Toronto. She said: “Talk about full circle again, never did I think we would be able to be here all those years later supporting the expansion of this incredible organisation.”

While speaking at a World Trade Organisation women’s event on Saturday, the Duchess – who recently discovered she is 43 per cent Nigerian – spoke about how proud she was of her heritage. She gushed: “Every single moment that I hear anyone talk about what it means to be a Nigerian woman, it is the most flattering thing to be in that company.”
