The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to not have ‘an equal relationship’, as an expert unpicks the difference between their personalities including Meghan’s ‘dominance’
Prince Harry has been described as “a lost little boy” alongside wife Meghan Markle who “makes up for his own weakness”, according to a royal commentator.
The couple, who have been married since 2018, stepped back from the royal family in 2020 and have just celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary. Currently living in Montecito, California the couple share two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Their relationship dynamic has been unpicked, as an expert warns that Meghan’s ‘dominant’ personality might not always be a positive in their marriage.
Royal author and expert Tom Quinn exclusively told The Mirror: “No one has ever doubted that Harry and Meghan do not have an equal partnership – when Harry famously said, ‘what Meghan wants Meghan gets,’ he neatly summed up the situation.”
Quinn continued: “Harry has always come across as a lost little boy, overprotected by the Royal family as a child and then suffering the death of his mother he has always seemed unsure and indecisive, always searching for a strong partner who makes up for his own weakness. Meghan is very much that partner. She is ambitious, determined and a real fighter – Harry always tries to fight alongside her, but the battling, complaining Harry we see now did not exist before Meghan‘s arrival on the scene.”
However he did have a word of warning for the couple’s future as he finished: “For now, Harry loves the fact that Meghan gives him some of the backbone he always lacked, but her dominance in the relationship may not always be welcome – what charms us and delights us early on in a relationship doesn’t always stand the test of time.”

The opinion comes after the couple were notably absent from Harry’s longtime friend Hugh Grosvenor’s, the Duke of Westminster, wedding in Chester this week. Prince William was one of Hugh’s ushers, and it’s thought that his brother having a prominent role was part of the reason for Harry steering clear of the big day.
According to The Times, Harry was invited to Hugh’s wedding, but then over a phone call with the groom agreed to stay away in what is described as a “civilised understanding”. This move in turn cleared the way for William to perform his job as usher at the ceremony, where he was seen entering the Chester cathedral through a side door on Friday.
In another claim, an insider told the New York Post that “Harry actually got a ‘save the date’ card a few months ago but called Hugh and said it would be too awkward if he and Meghan Markle attended, so he made his apologies and Hugh understood.”
