Fans of the royal family have gained rare insight into how Queen Elizabeth II spent her final days.
On September 14th, she was taken to Westminster, where she remained in state for four days, allowing people to pay their respects to the monarch who had been in power for the longest time.
Her grandsons, Prince William and Prince Harry, along with their wives, Princess Kate and Meghan Markle, were seen holding back tears as they stood next to the coffin in footage shared during the opening speech of the Scottish Parliament on September 30th.
King Charles made a personal statement regarding Queen Elizabeth’s decision to spend her final day at Balmoral. He stated, “Scotland has always had a uniquely special place in the hearts of my family and myself. My late mother especially cherished her time at Balmoral, and she chose to spend her final days there in the most beloved of settings.”
Princess Anne, the late monarch’s daughter, previously stated that the location of the Queen’s final resting place was significant to her. In a BBC documentary from 2023, titled *The Unseen Queen*, she revealed, “We did try to convince her that that shouldn’t be a part of making decisions. We are deeply saddened by the loss of a beloved mother and cherished sovereign. I am aware that her passing will have a profound impact not only on the Commonwealth but also on the nation, the realms, and the Commonwealth as a whole. My family and I will be supported and comforted during this time of mourning and change by our knowledge of the Queen’s widespread respect and deep affection.”
On the day of the beloved monarch’s passing, the royal family posted the following message on the social media platform X: “This afternoon, the Queen passed away peacefully at Balmoral. The King and Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral before departing for London tomorrow.”
A lot of people try to pick out some of the royals’ most important conversations by looking at footage of them talking. A lip reader has actually been able to figure out what King Charles said in conversations after his mother’s funeral.
Freeman explained to the *Daily Star* that when Charles was shaking hands with the Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell, he said, “That was excellent work, thank you. You were fantastic.”
A separate concern was discovered during the King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement. Camilla went to the Royal United Hospitals in Bath on September 3rd to open the new Dyson Cancer Center. While there, she talked to a number of cancer patients and staff members. One of them reportedly asked her about her husband’s health. According to *The Sun*, Susie Moon, a worker for Macmillan Cancer Support, inquired about this, to which Camilla replied, “Yes, he is doing very well.”
