Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford are said to have split over a year ago, but were battling behind the scenes to save their marriage until a statement was allegedly ‘orchestrated’ by the Loose Women star to alert fans to the break-up

Eamonn Holmes is said to be ‘furious’ over his split with Ruth Langsford and blaming the public end to their 14 year marriage as being ‘orchestrated’ by the Loose Women star.

The couple’s shock separation was revealed by their representatives this weekend. The bombshell joint statement read: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”

It has now being reported that the pair actually split over a year ago but Eamonn wanted to keep the news under wraps while they worked on their relationship.

The news broke on Saturday after mounting speculation with fans questioning what was going on between the once close-knit pair, who worked together on This Morning, after spotting they hadn’t been seen together for months.

Pals have now claimed that Eamonn has been ‘struggling’ behind the scenes and did not want to make the news public.

Eamonn Holmes is said to have spent months trying to save his marriage to Ruth Langsford before the announcement was made

The joint statement is said to have been arranged by Ruth, 64, with Eamonn ‘refusing’ to get involved. “Ruth can do what she wants but keep me out of it,” the presenter is said to have told his friends.

Eamonn is reported to be furious about the separation having spent months trying to ‘save’ the marriage, saying the break-up has ‘very much been orchestrated by Ruth’ who was ‘determined’ to walk away.

According to the Mail On Sunday, one source who knows the Irish star said that Eamonn would become ‘very angry indeed’ when probed on the truth of his marriage.

“His language became really quite rude. He was struggling to accept it.” Another source added: “Eamonn’s preferred way was not to tell anyone. Deep down he knew it couldn’t carry on but he was kind of sticking his head in the sand. He is very upset indeed.”

After the sad news was finally made public, Eamonn is now gearing up to speak for the first time publicly when he returns to GB News on Monday morning.
