Prince Harry has revealed a cringe-worthy moment with Meghan Markle and King Charles, which occurred after the couple started dating.

In his bombshell memoir ‘Spare’, Harry describes how he introduced Meghan to his father, who is set to celebrate his 76th birthday this Thursday, as well as to Queen Camilla during a visit to Clarence House. He recalls that conversation among them flowed “easily” at first.

Charles appeared genuinely intrigued by Meghan’s ascent to fame through her role in the TV series ‘Suits’, engaging in a “quiet chat” with her, while Camilla seemed more interested in listening in than chatting with her stepson. Despite the smooth interaction between his then-girlfriend and his father, Harry recounts an awkward instance when the now King and Queen Consort had to leave for another appointment.

In ‘Spare’, Harry writes: “We talked about acting and the arts in general.” He continues, “What a struggle it could be to make your way in such a trade, Pa said. He had a lot of questions about Meg’s career and he looked impressed by the way she answered. Her confidence, her intelligence, I thought, caught him unawares,” reports the Express.

As the meeting came to an end due to Charles and Camilla’s tight schedule, Harry notes, “I made a note to explain all this later to Meg. We all stood. Meg leaned towards Pa. I flinched; like Willy, Pa wasn’t a hugger. Thankfully, she gave him a standard British cheek-to-cheek, which he actually seemed to enjoy.”

Despite the Royal Family not being known for their open displays of affection, the King has been seen partaking in heartwarming hugs now and then. He recently expressed that receiving an embrace from the New Zealand women’s rugby team was something he “really needed”.

The moment left fans emotional, with the King humorously commenting that he felt “flattened” after Black Ferns star Ayesha Leti-I’iga, along with her teammates, gave him a group hug at Buckingham Palace on September 11. Elsewhere, a picture was released by Kensington Palace featuring Prince William in a warm embrace with his father back in 2020.Captured by the Princess of Wales at Sandringham Estate, it depicts Prince William holding the King close, with his arm firmly around his shoulders.
