The Princess of Wales has delighted royal fans by sharing a behind-the-scenes teaser video with ‘exciting news’.

Kate, 42, is recovering from cancer and chemotherapy treatment, in what has been dubbed a ‘brutal’ year by her husband Prince William. But in a major update on her next public appearance, it seems she wants to end the year on a high. That’s because Kensington Palace has confirmed Kate will host her annual Christmas carol concert this year at Westminster Abbey, which has become a firm fixture in the royals’ festive diaries. And to celebrate the news that the concert is set to take place on December 6, William and Kate’s Instagram account posted a special teaser video showing early preparations for the big event. In the clip, a printing press can be seen embossing Kate’s official cypher on to card ready for them to be made into invitations.

The caption reads: “Something exciting is coming… The invitations are fresh off the press for this year’s Together At Christmas Carol Service, which will be returning to Westminster Abbey on Friday 6 December. We can’t wait for you to join us too! Tune in on @ itv and @itvxofficial on Christmas Eve.”

It comes as the Palace said Kate, who honoured the war dead at Remembrance events at the weekend, particularly wanted the theme of this year’s service to celebrate those supporting others in need, with a focus on the importance of love and empathy.

Kensington Palace said: “This year’s service provides a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives. The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities.”

The Palace added: “This year, Her Royal Highness wanted to celebrate the many people supporting those in need – individuals who have inspired, counselled, comforted, and above all else shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive. This theme takes inspiration from the Christmas story which encourages us to consider the experiences of others and the important human need of giving and receiving empathy.”

It will be the fourth time Kate has staged her Together At Christmas carol service, which is supported by The Royal Foundation. The event will be filmed and broadcast as part of a special programme on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve.
