Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford’s “significant” change this Christmas could still be a positive one, if they prioritise their 22-year-old son Jack’s needs, an expert has warned.
The former This Morning presenters are currently in the process of a divorce following 14 years of marriage.
Following reports that the pair are now only speaking through lawyers, Chloé Moreau, a relationship expert at ExpertsEnRencontres, believes their very different Christmas could actually “pave the way for a new sense of balance”.
“Spending the holidays apart, especially after 20 years together, is bound to bring up emotions for both Ruth and Eamonn,” she explains.
“For their son, Jack, this will also be a significant adjustment, as he navigates the reality of having his parents in separate households during such a family-centric time.”
To help those involved feel “connected”, Chloe suggests “small but meaningful gestures, like establishing new traditions or creating special moments individually” with their son.
The relationship expert goes on to urge the couple to focus on two key factors amid the shift; open communication and reassurance.
“Although challenging, this Christmas could be an opportunity for Ruth, Eamonn, and Jack to redefine what the holiday season means to them,” she continues.
Prioritising Jack’s well-being, she adds, will “demonstrate resilience and love” which could result in a “meaningful time for everyone”.
Ruth has seemingly remained single following their split, while Eamonn has started a new relationship with Katie Alexander.
Recent reports suggested that the new couple could already be engaged, after she was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her wedding finger.
Shutting down the rumours shortly after, Eamonn’s friend told The Daily Mail that while they are “very serious about each other”, they are “definitely not engaged”.
Another source says Eamonn and Ruth are aiming to “resolve their divorce as quickly as possible in the new year”.
“Ruth is keen to stay in their marital home as it is where she is settled,” they added to The Sun. “Eamonn on the other hand wants to get out and make a fresh start.”
