Tyson Fury is renowned as one of the most fierce competitors of his generation but “The Gypsy King” is a committed family man outside of the boxing ring. As he prepares for an era-defining world unified heavyweight title showdown with Oleksandr Usyk, he will be calling on the support of his “biggest mentor” – his wife Paris.

The British fighting legend is arguably set for the most important bout of his career so far at the Kingdom Arena, Saudi Arabia as he chases sporting immortality. With the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO and WBC belts on the line, the winner of the contest will become the first unified title holder in this weight division since Lennox Lewis in 2000.

With the event having already been re-scheduled from its original date in February for May 18, both competitors will now be putting in their last preparations for a once-in-a-generation battle. Fury will, therefore, be leaning on the counsel of wife of 16 years, Paris in these agonizing last days before a date with destiny.

The pair are something of a celebrity couple in their native United Kingdom, with their life having been detailed on TV shows including ITV’s “Gypsy King” in 2020 and Netflix’s “At Home with the Furys” in 2023. Paris, who shares seven children with the heavyweight colossus, also appears on the daytime ITV show “Loose Women” in their home country.

The couple first met back in 2005, before they started dating a year later. The eventually tied the knot back in 2008 before welcoming children Venezuela, Prince John James, Prince Tyson II, Valencia Amber, Prince Adonis Amaziah, Athena and Prince Rico Paris to the family.

Previously, Tyson has spoken glowingly about the impact his wife has had on his life and career, saying: “To get a woman who’s been with you all that time and gone through the […] the good times and the bad times. [For her] to still be there when you don’t want to be and when you’re being forced away and you’re being pushed out, that takes a very strong individual.”
“My biggest mentor in my career is probably me wife,” the 35-year-old acknowledged. “Because without her, I would have probably went AWOL a long time ago. I’ve been AWOL anyway plenty of times but I’ve always had that loving wife relationship, sort of the backbone.”

Previously, Paris posted a photograph of herself with her partner as teenagers on Instagram, captioned: “I liked him from the very beginning – he was so different to other boys. I didn’t say yes to dating straight away though,he ask me out alot of times before I agreed! It was a big deal he would be my 1st boyfriend.”
Going into more details about the early stages of their famous relationship, she even confirmed that her future husband knew he had met his life partner after their first date. She said: “Our first date was to see King Kong at the cinema and later I found out he’d told his parents afterwards that he was going to marry me.
Writing in her memoir, “Love and Fury: The Magic and Mayhem of Life with Tyson” ,Paris also recounted how their wedding very nearly did not happen, however, as she confessed: “My fiancé clearly didn’t understand the amount of planning and organisation that went into a wedding.

“I was beginning to realise how incredibly impulsive he was, the sort of person who lived life in the moment and liked to make decisions on the hoof. In Tyson’s world, our big day could be rescheduled on a whim, just like one of his boxing matches. I was having none of it, though, and refused point blank to change the date.”
