Tyson Fury wants to buy his first football club and invest 'millions'

Tyson Fury has been given the chance to buy League One outfit Morecambe FC.

The WBC heavyweight champion lives in Morecambe, even agreeing to a sponsorship deal with his hometown side earlier this year.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Fury asked former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan on his verdict of the club.

Morecambe are currently bottom of the league with eight points and one win all season.

Fury said: “Quick question, I’m thinking about buying Morecambe Football Club, they’re in League One at the moment.

“So I was thinking I invest X amount of millions in them.”

Jordan wanted clarification on Fury’s comments, replying: “By invest you mean throw it at them, invest is the wrong term.”

Fury then claimed: “Yeah, basically throw it at them and keep them going up.

“I’ve been offered to buy Morecambe Football Club. I own all the training facilities anyway and the training gym.

“So who knows? You might be looking at a football club owner.”

Former Eagles chief Jordan asked: You know how to make a small fortune in football?”

A sharp Fury immediately responded: “Start off with a bigger one! It’s the same as being a boxing promoter.”

Fury is a Manchester United fan, regularly giving his verdict on the club in videos on Instagram.

The 34-year-old was speaking following the announcement of his trilogy bout against Derek Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 3.

Fury retired from boxing following his victory over Dillian Whyte in April, reversing that decision to try and become undisputed champion.

Fights with WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk and fellow Brit Anthony Joshua didn’t come off, meaning Fury will now face Chisora for a third time.

The aim is to face Usyk in a huge undisputed title clash in 2023.
