Talks over a potential unification bout collapsed last week.

ESPN’s Timothy Bradley has torn into Tyson Fury, stating that the heavyweight is ‘the one to blame’ after talks over a unification bout with Oleksandr Usyk collapsed late last week.

WBC heavyweight champion Fury had been in talks to face off against WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in a unification bout that was set to take place in April.

However, it was confirmed earlier last week that the bout will no longer be going ahead, with Fury tipped to face off against Mexican heavyweight Andy Ruiz Jr instead.

The teams of the two fighters have blamed each other for the breakdown in negotiations, with Fury taking to social media to launch a foul-mouthed tirade at the Ukrainian boxer.

Former two-weight world champion Timothy Bradley made it clear who he believes caused the fight to break down, tearing into Fury during an ESPN live broadcast this weekend.

When quizzed on who was to blame, Bradley packed no punches:

“Fury. Fury is the one to blame. You never know what Fury is thinking. Every day is different.

“Honestly, I’m sick of the mess. We want to see an undisputed heavyweight championship fight, that is what we want to see Tyson Fury.”

“I will call this a legitimate duck by Tyson Fury. He is ducking [Oleksandr] Usyk.

“He didn’t even think that Usyk was going to take the 70/30 split. Usyk was adamant to take the 50/50 split. He wanted 50/50.

“Then it went to 60/40 and then you have Fury come in and say 70/30. Usyk said we’ll do it and then the goalposts got moved again!”

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has been quick to defend his fighter, as he revealed emails which allegedly prove that neither he nor Fury were to blame for the collapse of the hotly-anticipated fight.

The cancellation of the Fury/Usyk fight has caused worry among boxing fans, who have been left disillusioned by recent pay-per-view bouts. The latest news has led talkSPORT’s Simon Jordan – who himself is a huge fan of boxing – to state that he believes the UFC could soon overtake boxing in terms of popularity.
