The Rock has revealed what he said to Cody Rhodes prior to his beatdown of his bitter rival.

The pair are set to go head-to-head next weekend in the main event of the first night of WrestleMania in a tag team match that will see the veteran team with real-life cousin Roman Reigns to take on Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

The match will have major implications, with the main event of night two, the WWE Universal Title match between Reigns and Rhodes, to be a ‘Bloodline Rules’ match if the former win.

Should Rhodes and Rollins emerge victorious, the match will be one-on-one, leaving Rhodes with the opportunity to get revenge after he lost to the former Shield member following interference from Solo Sikoa at last year’s ‘Mania.

The Rock and Rhodes continued their rivalry on Monday night’s episode of Raw, engaging briefly in the ring before a beatdown to close the show. In the opening segment, The Rock whispered something to Rhodes, and he has taken to social media to explain what that was.

‘The Great One’ has shared seven Instagram posts since the episode, with one, showing various snaps of the night, captioned: “Tonight, I’m gonna make you bleed” – Final Boss.’

Another, which is a clip of the brawl in the rain outside the arena, is captioned: ‘Man of my word. His blood. My hands. – Final Boss.’

Fans were left curious what The Rock whispered to Rhodes after interrupting his promo in the opening minutes of the show.

Rhodes seemed stunned by the engagement, which saw The Rock, real name Dwayne Johnson, enter the arena to a chorus of cheers, which quickly turned to boos when he approached Rhodes, whispered in his ear and left without speaking on the microphone.

Fans spent large parts of the rest of the episode trying to work out what was said, though it now seems to have become clear.

Other Instagram posts shared by The Rock to his 397million followers included various clips and photos of the brawl, with captions such as: ‘LIVE on the air. The way the Final Boss commands it’, ‘It didn’t have to be this way. But now it’s the only way. – Final Boss’ and simply ‘Final Boss’.

The Rock swore again on live TV during the brawl, at one point telling Rhodes: ‘This is what happens when you f*** with the final boss.’

There had been debate over whether swearing was again allowed, with Rhodes and CM Punk also yelling expletives during the show, but it has been reported that a memo has been sent out asking talent not to swear.

The Rock had previously rubbished reports that WWE umbrella company TKO had shown desire for him to set an example for WWE’s guidelines of a TV-PG product after reports suggested talent was concerned over double standards.

Regarding blood, it has not intentionally been shown on WWE TV for a number of years, but it’s possible those rules have now changed as the product moves forward.
