Spice Girls Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner wish former bandmate Mel C a happy 50th birthday in an array of sweet posts

Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner have wished their Spice Girls band-mate Mel C a happy 50th birthday in a sweet array of throwback posts.

In a post to her Instagram story on Friday, Victoria shared a snap of herself and Mel C from their pop-star days – which featured in a 1997 edition of Vogue.

‘Happy Birthday @melaniecmusic, kisses’ Victoria, 49, captioned the picture.

Emma went all out for her Spice Girls pal, posting a collage of pictures of her and Mel C, known as Sporty Spice, and a video of the two of them over the years.

Baby Spice, 47, added a sweet message to her post, toasting to the pair ‘singing together forever’.

She wrote: ‘What a Spicy ride [peace sign]. The memories being side by side will stay with me always.

‘Here’s to singing together forever. Happy birthday, @melaniecmusic. Love you to bits.’

Emma’s video consisted of clips of her and Mel C singing together while in the band, as well behind-the-scenes footage and more recent content of the pair.

Reciprocating the love, Mel C replied: ‘My darling baby [love heart] look at us and everything we have done. I love you beyond words xxxxx’.

Geri, aka Ginger Spice, also celebrated her former bandmate’s special day, with a post wishing that all her ‘birthday wishes come true’.

She shared two pictures, one of Geri and Mel C celebrating England playing football and a second of the two of them in their Spice Girl era.

‘Happy birthday @melaniecmusic,’ Geri wrote. ‘May all your birthday wishes come true! [love heart].’ Mel C replied: ‘Thank you [love heart].’

A public tribute from Mel B has not yet been posting for Mel C’s birthday.

Mel C revealed last year that she would be celebrating her 50th birthday by performing at London venue KOKO.

‘Some of you might know, I’ve got a rather big birthday coming early next year,’ she said in a video at the time. ‘And what do I love to do on my birthday?

‘I have seen some of my favourite artists perform here at KOKO and now it’s my turn and I want you to be there. I’m not only going to be celebrating being alive for 50 years, but also it’s 30 years since I met those four girls and started working in music.’

Teasing that the show might see the return of the iconic group, the singer-songwriter and DJ added: ‘So I have got so much to get through, so may songs to choose from, and you never know, I might have a few special guests.’

Earlier this year the Spice Girls became the first female group to feature on a special stamp set issued by the Royal Mail.

The stamps were released into circulation on Thursday to celebrate the 30th anniversary of one of the world’s most successful pop groups.

Speaking of the honour, the band said: ‘When we formed the Spice Girls we couldn’t have dreamt that 30 years later we would be the first female group to be dedicated an entire stamp collection, that’s Girl Power!’

The set of 10 stamps will show images from their most famous performances from their 1997 Brit Awards show to the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympic Games.

One stamp has a close-up of a 25-year-old Geri Halliwell in her iconic Union flag mini-dress during their 1997 Brit Awards show.

Another features Victoria Beckham, affectionately known as Posh Spice, striking a pose during a 2008 show in New York.

It comes after Mel B, who has not yet posted for Mel C’s birthday, showed that the Spice Girls are still close – as she revealed Victoria will be designing her wedding dress.

The singer, 48, reunited with bandmate Victoria in preparation for the big day after entrusting the fashion designer with the important task of creating both her and the mother of the bride’s dress.

Appearing on Monday’s episode of Today with Hoda & Janna, Mel revealed: ‘Victoria actually designed my dress and my mom’s dress. It’s such a beautiful honour to get.’

Mel revealed in September 2023 that Victoria was keen to design the dress, and it seems the star has kept her word.
