Saudi authorities make decision on punishing John Fury for headbutt on Oleksandr Usyk team member

Saudi Arabian authorities have come to a decision on whether to punish John Fury for headbutting a member of Oleksandr Usyk’s team.

On Monday mayhem broke out at a hotel in Riyadh when Tyson Fury’s father, John, headbutted a member of Usyk’s entourage after sustained chanting of the Ukrainian’s name by his contingent.

Angry words were exchanged between the 59-year-old and Stanislav Stepchuk, before the former lost control.

Fury Sr sustained heavy bleeding from a gash on his forehead after the incident, while Stepchuk was seen donning a tiny cut.

While some fans on social media have called for John to face legal action for the attack, Sky Sports have claimed that Saudi authorities are set to draw a line under the incident.

Moreover, with Stepchuk unlikely to press charges, John is set to remain in the country and support his son for the undefeated heavyweight bout on Saturday.

After the altercation, John was heard shouting: “We can’t be beat! We can’t be beat!

“I live for this f***ing s***! I live for blood, guts and horror! Blood guts and horror! I live for this s***, my boy lives for this s***!”

Meanwhile, Tyson Fury laughed when hearing of the incident and said: “I didn’t see anything. I was in the room doing interviews for Sky Sports, but I’m not here for all that. I’m here to get the job done and go home and rest.

“They do what they do. I’ve definitely seen worse than a cut on the head.”

On the altercation, Stepchuk told Seconds Out: “I was just supporting our team.

“We were only shouting, ‘Usyk, Usyk,’ I didn’t touch him. He went crazy… Yeah [I wanted to punch him], but because of the age difference it would not be very fair.

“He should not look for an actual fight because he could have a heart attack and finish in the ambulance.”
