Ringside footage shows Vasyl Lomachenko’s sickening body shot knockout and George Kambosos’ face says it all

Vasyl Lomachenko recorded his first stoppage in three years on Saturday night and it did not disappoint.

The last time Lomachenko closed the show inside the distance was all the way back in June 2021 when he knocked out Masayoshi Nakatani with a flurry of shots in the ninth round.

But this weekend against George Kambosos he returned to his spiteful best as he stopped the Aussie to the body in the 11th round to claim the IBF lightweight title.

Lomachenko had been in complete control throughout the contest and began to turn the screw in the championship rounds.

Most of his early work had been to the head but in the later frames, he started to invest to the body which paid off late in the 11th stanza as Kambosos was sent crashing to the canvas after eating a left uppercut to the gut.

To his credit, Kambosos made his way back to his feet.

But he was instantly sat back down by another sickening shot as the towel came flying in.

Ringside side footage shows just how clean the shot was while you can clearly see Kambosos let out a cry of distress as it lands.

Lomachenko is now a four-time world champion across three weight divisions and, at age 36, showed he can still mix it with the very best.

Taking to the mic in the immediate aftermath, an emotional Lomachenko said: “Today I am again world champion and this world title for my father.

“I want to say a big thank you and show my appreciation to him.

“He trained me, he built me and he deserves it. This belt is for my father.”

He continued: “My plan was to adjust to my opponent. This is what I did in the fight.

“Toward the end of the rounds I needed to finish strong. In the last three rounds, I was trying to find his body.

“We trained hard for this moment. I want to thank my opponent. He is a strong man and a true warrior.”

Kambosos then gave his reaction to the first stoppage loss of his career.

“I’m a tough Aussie b******. I’m the mould of Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward,” he said.

“We don’t want to take easy fights we step in with the best, look at my track record.
