“I feel like Brooklyn’s favorite is a white T-shirt and jeans,” she tells PEOPLE

On a red carpet, Nicola Peltz Beckham and Brooklyn Beckham are often one of the best dressed couples.

While it seems like the two are perfectly in sync with their style, according to Nicola, that’s not necessarily the case. In fact, the Lola director says her husband’s fashion sense is decidedly more casual than hers and sometimes throws off the whole vibe of their aesthetic.

“I feel like Brooklyn’s favorite is a white T-shirt and jeans,” Nicola, 29, tells PEOPLE with a laugh while referring to her husband’s go-to outfit.

Though they do coordinate for red carpets and those important events that call for it, Nicola says there are times when they’re at home getting ready for a night out and they’ll not discuss their outfits beforehand and realize they’re wildly off base with what the other is wearing.

“I feel like sometimes we love the whole matching thing,” she says. “Sometimes we’ll go to an event and I’ll put on my outfit and he’ll come out of his closet and he’s literally looking so casual and I’m so dressed up and I’ll be like, ‘Okay, I guess this is what we’re doing.'”

The actress, who spoke to PEOPLE at Snapple’s Solar Eclipse Speakeasy in New York City, couldn’t help but laugh while recalling Brooklyn’s fashion choices and the times they’d completely mismatched with her dressing up and him dressing down.

She says there have been times when she’ll be excited to dress up for an event — whether it’s Fashion Week or something else equally fancy and worth of pictures — and she’ll get all dolled up.

“And then he comes out the closet and I’m like, ‘Well you’re sweatshirt vibes tonight. I did not get the memo, but we’re too late now we have to leave,'” she says jokingly.

Brooklyn, 25, makes the sweathirts and T-shirts look good, though, she says — and we can agree!

Nicola and Brooklyn may not always be on the same wavelength about their style, but she says they do love the same Snapple flavor: Zero Sugar Peach Tea.

“I’ve hooked on the whole family on the peach,” she says, adding that this partnership felt like a good fit for her because she’s been drinking Snapple her whole life and she loved that the event brought her back to her hometown.

The Bates Motel actress — as to be expected — dressed for the occasion, wearing Victoria Beckham from head to toe. She wore a black suit from her mother-in-law’s collection and black platform heels.
