Mike Tyson's last opponent before Jake Paul now lives a very different life despite beating 'Iron Mike'

Mike Tyson’s final opponent of his legendary professional boxing career lives a very, very different life now.

Tyson’s professional career span an incredible 20 years as he had his last fight in June 2005 after making his debut back in 1985.

He won world titles and was involved in an infamous ear-bite fight against rival Evander Holyfield.

Tyson was also on the wrong end of one of the biggest upsets in boxing history as he succumbed to Buster Douglas in Tokyo, Japan.

His last-ever outing as a professional came against Kevin McBride, who scored a big stoppage victory over the boxing icon.

Tyson retired on the stool after round six, giving McBride the victory by technical knockout.

The Irishman, however, failed to build on his incredible win as he subsequently lost six of his next eight fights.

He walked away from the sport following his defeat to Mariusz Wach in 2011 and now lives a different life.

In 2020, speaking ahead of Tyson’s exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr, McBride opened up about his new profession – a tree surgeon.

“I work with a tree surgeon now. He has me dropping trees, clearing snow, shouting ‘timber’ and all that. It is good,” he said. “It keeps me busy.

“My job is I pick things up and I put things down.”

Naturally, McBride touched on his famous night in Washington, DC, revealing he doesn’t rewatch his win over Tyson despite the sheer magnitude of the victory.

At the time, he said: “It is coming up more often at the moment because every time they say about him making a comeback, they say I was the last guy to beat him.

“I like that. I don’t sit around re-watching the fight but someone put a clip on Facebook recently and I saw it – dream come true, isn’t it?”
