Mike Tyson reveals the two things he's given up in radical lifestyle change before Jake Paul fight

Mike Tyson has made two huge changes to his lifestyle ahead of his return to the ring against Jake Paul.

‘Iron’ Mike is currently deep into his training camp as he prepares for a one-off return against YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul which will take place on July 20 in Texas.

The last time Tyson entered the ring was against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020 while Paul’s most recent bout took place in March 2024 when he secured a TKO victory against Ryan Bourland.

Tyson is currently the underdog for the bout which will be streamed globally by Netflix meaning there is no pay-per-view fee.

Ahead of the bout, the 57-year-old has made some major lifestyle changes as he prepares to face his younger opponent.

Tyson revealed he has given up both sex and marijuana in the hopes of entering the ring in peak condition.

“I’m living my life disciplined now, so I’m fight disciplined now,” he told Forbes. “In probably six weeks, I haven’t gotten high or had sex. It’s just discipline, it’s doing what you hate to do but doing it like I love it.

“I hate not being able to not to smoke but I’m doing it like I love it.

“I hate not being able to sleep with my life but I’m doing it like I love it, because I want it I won’t do it.”

Tyson is a long-time advocate for cannabis but would fail a drug test if he smoked prior to his fight as it is a banned substance according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

In the past, Tyson revealed he went five years without sex as he believed it would make him a better boxer.

He told Graham Bensinger in 2018: “I’m an idiot, you know.

“I just went by what people told me. ‘This is what you’re supposed to do, girls are gonna mess up your boxing’.

“I entered this profession a total brainless individual, looking for glory because my self-esteem was so low.”
