Marc Anthony caused a storm when he sent a cool birthday greeting to his best friend Beckham

Beckham and Anthony share something of a bromance, and the former soccer player was among the well-wishers as the singer celebrated his 55th birthday this weekend.

Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham took to social media this weekend with heartfelt birthday messages for his close friend Marc Anthony, who turned 55 on Saturday.

“Once a brother always a brother”

Posting on Instagram Stories, Beckham shared a photograph of himself mid-laugh with the singer, alongside the caption: “Once a brother always a brother. Happy Birthday man, love ya”.

Beckham also posted an image in which he and Anthony can be seen smiling and drinking wine in front of a festively-decorated fireplace. “We laugh as one,” the 48-year-old wrote.

Beckham’s emotional tribute in Walk of Fame ceremony

Earlier this month, Beckham made a surprise appearance at Anthony’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, delivering an emotional speech in which he spoke of the strength of his friendship with the four-time Grammy winner.

“I first met Marc 20 years ago when I was playing for Real Madrid,” Beckham said, as Anthony wiped away tears.

“It’s probably not a cool thing to say, but I was very star-struck when I met Marc, because on the way to every Real Madrid game, I used to listen to his music. I now dress a little bit like him, and I learned salsa for one man only – but please don’t tell my wife.

“When we met, we immediately had a special connection. I knew that I had a friend for life. Over the years, our friendship has grown, and Marc is family.

“He’s godfather to my son Cruz, and someone that I love to spend time with.”
