Lennox Lewis gives fascinating answer when asked if he could make shock return like Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson will make a stunning return to the boxing ring later this year when he takes on Jake Paul – and Lennox Lewis has offered a fascinating answer if he would be tempted to do the same one day.

Lewis was the last undisputed heavyweight champion in the world, having held all the major titles back in 2000.

A new one could be crowned next weekend when Tyson Fury will defend his WBC belt against Oleksandr Usyk, who will put his WBA (super), IBF and WBO world titles on the line when they meet next weekend on May 18 in Riyadh.

Should there be a victor in the contest, then there will be an undisputed heavyweight boxing champion for the first time in almost 25 years.

Lewis boasted a formidable record in the ring, with 41 wins out of 44 fights, one draw and only two losses.

Lewis’ defeats came against Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman, while the draw was against Evander Holyfield.

Of his 41 wins, 32 were by knockout, seven were by decision and two were from disqualification, with his penultimate victory coming against Tyson.

The heavyweight’s final professional fight came in June 2003 with victory over Vitali Klitschko.

A rematch was due to follow, but Lewis decided against it and confirmed his retirement in 2004.

Since his retirement from the ring, Lewis has been a boxing analyst, been a poker player, appeared in films, and appeared on Celebrity Apprentice.

But the question remains if he could one day make a return to the ring, like Tyson will when he faces Paul in Texas on July 20.

And Lewis has now given an intriguing answer to that question, with the old saying ‘never say never’ springing to mind.

Speaking to The Guardian about Tyson’s return to the ring, the conversation turned to it Lewis himself would consider it, and it seems that if the price is right, then it could happen.

Asked if he keeps being asked about a return by people, he said: “Yeah, they do. But, as my friend says, I ain’t no fool.

“I was seeing if I could catch you out there. For me, money talks, bullsh** walks.

“That’s what I’m saying. I’d 100% consider it.”

With Lewis being the same age as Tyson now at 58, if Iron Mike is doing it, you certainly couldn’t rule out the Lion doing the same, if the money is right.
