Judges for Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight are being made to pass four strict tests to work on the event

The judges who will be involved in the blockbuster fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson must pass four strict tests to work the event.

Paul vs. Tyson is set for July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in a bout that will be aired on Netflix.

The heavyweight showdown will be a sanctioned, professional fight by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) in a major U-turn.

Unlike standard pro fights, Paul vs, Tyson will be contested over eight two-minute rounds and both combatants will wear 14-ounce gloves.

Most Valuable Promotions have worked diligently with the Texas commission to make Paul vs. Tyson a sanctioned, professional match.

The TDLR will appoint three judges for the clash that is set to smash a 61-year boxing record.

And the judges scoring Tyson’s comeback need to pass four tests to work the show, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation’s website.

Firstly, a judge must be at least 21 years of age. Secondly, a judge must have no criminal convictions that directly relate to the duties and responsibilities of a judge.

Thirdly, a judge must demonstrate the ability to perform the functions of a judge by having observed and completed scorecards for all contests in at least five events while under the supervision of the TDLR or meeting one or more of the following; having at least three years active experience as a judge and/or a referee, officiating in at least ten combative sporting events per year. Being currently licensed and in good standing as a judge in a state that has licensing requirements equivalent to Texas’ requirements or having formerly held a judge’s license that lapsed in good standing.

Finally, a judge must provide test results showing visual acuity in each eye of at least 20/40 corrected. Per TDLR, “the test must have been performed by a licensed Optometrist or licensed Ophthalmologist no more than three years before the application for licensure or license renewal is filed.”
