Jake Paul branded Eddie Hearn a 'snake' over failed $1m bet long before Mike Tyson fight

Jake Paul once branded promoter Eddie Hearn a snake during a scathing attack.

Last week, it was confirmed that American YouTuber turned boxer Paul will fight Mike Tyson at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on July 20.

Announcing the fight, which is set to be streamed on Netflix, the platform wrote: “It’s JAKE PAUL vs. MIKE TYSON — yes, really! — in a LIVE BOXING event at AT&T Stadium you won’t want to miss. Airing live on Netflix Saturday, July 20 #PaulTyson.”

Speaking after the announcement, Hearn said: “I’m the wrong person to ask because I love boxing, so for me it’s incredibly sad.

“Mike Tyson’s nearly 60. I get it, a lot of people are gonna tune in. But my opinion as a hardcore fight fan – it’s very sad.”

He added: “Netflix are a huge platform. I think they can do a lot in the sport.

“But that particular fight for real lovers of the sport, it’s sad to see.”

It appears that Hearn and Paul don’t particularly see eye to eye, back in May 2022, the American branded the promoter a snake.

Speaking to MMA Fighting, via talkSPORT, Paul said: “All of these boxing people are snakes, Eddie Hearn’s a snake, he’s a typical promotor. Grown up in the business, he’s a liar as far as I’m concerned.

“It took me a while to catch on to how Eddie Hearn is, but he’s very two-faced… He’s very jealous of me.”

He added: “For example, when we made the bet on stage for Amanda Serrano versus Katie Taylor… All of a sudden I hear as I got off stage that Eddie doesn’t want to actually do the bet… It’s not the time right now.

“I’m this new, young promoter that’s doing it way bigger and better than him. I have 20x his platform and he’s been doing this his entire life.”

Tyson said of facing Paul: “I’m very much looking forward to stepping into the ring with Jake Paul at the AT&T STADIUM IN ARLINGTON, TEXAS. He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a “kid” can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT.

“It’s a full circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch; as I started him on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones and now I plan to finish him.”
