‘He’s senile’ – Logan Paul snubbed chance to fight Mike Tyson before controversial Jake Paul bout

Internet star Logan Paul claims he rejected the chance to fight legendary boxer Mike Tyson.

Logan Paul’s brother and fellow YouTuber-turned-boxer, Jake Paul, is set to take on former heavyweight champion Tyson in a shock bout on July 20.

Fan have expressed concern over 27-year-old Jake Paul, who has a 9-1 professional boxing record, fighting a 57-year-old Tyson, stepping into the ring for the first time in four years.

And it would appear Logan is among those who disagree with the fight – which will be streamed live on Netflix.

Speaking on his ‘Impaulsive’ podcast with KSI, Logan Paul explained why he said no to a dance with ‘Iron Mike’.

“I said no to fighting Mike Tyson,” Logan Paul revealed.

“I was offered it, but not on Netflix and not for a big a** bag.

“I’ve been asked, ‘Do you think you could beat Mike Tyson?’ My answer is yes. I just think he’s too old, it’s crazy. He’s senile.”

Tyson’s last boxing appearance came in an eight-round exhibition against Roy Jones Jr in 2020, which ended in a split-decision draw.

The ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ competed seriously between 1985 and 2005, establishing himself as one of the most feared knockout artists in history and setting the record for being the youngest ever heavyweight world champion.

However, Tyson will be 58 when his next fight rolls around, and he’s coming up against a man in supreme physical shape.

While the ‘Problem Child’ was edged out Tommy Fury in his first fight against an active professional boxer, he has shown devastating knockout power against the likes of Anderson Silva and Nate Robinson.

Ex-bantamweight star Spencer Oliver recently described the fight as a ‘sad day for boxing’, while footage of Tyson on the bag left fans fearing for the icon’s safety.

“I’m scared about it to be honest,” Oliver said. “You look at the bad health he has been in recently, we’ve seen him on crutches and I think the kid from the Disney Channel is going to knock out Mike Tyson.”

He added: “I just can’t get my head around it to be honest. I think it is a sad day for the sport. What damage would that do to Mike Tyson’s legacy?

“We fast-forward twenty-odd years and he’s getting in the ring, and I think it is a sad spectacle because he probably gets knocked out.

“Have you seen the condition he is in? He is 57 years old and is not in great health, come on man.”
