Dustin Poirier SLAMS Joe Rogan for his commentary during win at UFC 299… as the lightweight admits he ‘can’t believe’ the broadcasting legend’s comments

Dustin Poirier has taken issue with Joe Rogan‘s commentary at UFC 299 following his win over Benoit Saint-Denis.

Poirier bounced back from his defeat to Justin Gaethje last year with a knockout victory in the second round in Florida, earning the Fight of the Night award and an extra £39,000.

The lightweight has become one of the most famous stars in UFC history, once securing back-to-back wins over Conor McGregor and is well known to legendary UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

Rogan took issue with Poirier’s endurance in the bout, saying he looked fatigued in the opening frame despite a relatively comfortable win for the 35-year-old.

Speaking on The MMA Hour, he questioned the comments, insisting Rogan was flat-out wrong as he talked up his game.

‘I re-watched the fight last night with my wife when we got back to Louisiana,’ he said.’ Joe Rogan said I was exhausted, said I was tired like five times.

‘Bro, I do not get tired. I have some of the best cardio in this fight s*** that we do. Like, I can go 25 minutes, hard, cracking the whole time. I can’t believe he said that. I felt good.

‘I felt like he was going to slow down, you know. That’s what I was hoping for, I thought third or fourth round is when I would really start to like, pull away and break him down. But I got him out of there in the second.

‘I thought I was gonna have to break him down, wear him down a little bit more but I caught him in the middle of a trade when his chin was up and his body wasn’t set for that right hook. The timing of it was just perfect to whip his brain around.’

McGregor, who has not fought since his 2021 TKO defeat to Poirier, praised the bout on social media.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, McGregor wrote: ‘Great fight out of them French boys tonight! Toutes nos felicitations.’

During his post-fight press conference, Poirier was then asked about McGregor’s post, to which he said: ‘He felt that right hook, too.’

In their second bout, which came in January 2021, Poirier land a right-hook that sent McGregor crashing to the canvas before the American delivered some heavy blows to finish the fight.
