Daniel Ricciardo scores a HUGE win in Hollywood as move points to his post-Formula One career

Aussie F1 star Daniel Ricciardo appears to be preparing for the next phase of his life after it was announced he will be an executive producer on the highly anticipated Hollywood comedy show Downforce.

Said to be an Entourage-style insight into the world of F1 racing, the plot will centre around an heiress who gets thrust back into the family motor racing business.

She then faces a series of tough choices she must make about the future of the team, as well as her family’s legacy.

Other executive producers include Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, as well as US television writers Alec Berg and Adam Countee.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ricciardo’s involvement will add credibility to the show – and he is likely to assist with marketing to the F1 fan base.

It comes as Ricciardo, 34, turned back the clock to deliver an impressive performance in Miami recently, securing the fourth-fastest time in qualifying for the sprint race.

The result marked his best qualifying session of the season.

‘Every big result always feels like it’s a needed one. It’s a happy feeling, it’s a powerful feeling,’ Ricciardo told Sky Sports.

‘So it feels very good, and nice to also keep a few people [critics] quiet.’

Ricciardo said the recent changes to his car have greatly benefited him.

‘Immediately I honestly felt something. I felt like more feeling, a bit more confidence in what the car was going to give me,’ he said.

‘It’s not that it was far off, but there was just something missing.’

However, Ricciardo became unstuck in the Grand Prix on Sunday, finishing a deflating 15th in a field of 19 at the Miami International Autodrome.
