Conor McGregor's coach makes brutally honest claim about Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul and fans who will watch fight

Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh did not hold back from voicing his disappointment about the fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.

Tyson vs. Paul is set for July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which will be aired on Netflix.

The 57-year-old started his training camp last week as he showed off his legendary power and hand speed on the pads with coach Rafael Cordeiro, who has revealed the approach the former world heavyweight champion will take in his return fight.

Dana White, who’s pals with the boxing icon, isn’t a fan of Tyson returning to the sport.

UFC star McGregor believes there’s no ‘interest’ in Tyson vs. Paul as he hit out at the match-up.

The Irishman’s coach has also questioned the bout, claiming the audience won’t be ‘high-level’ boxing fans.

“I just think the majority of those people are not going to be really high-level boxing aficionados,” he told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour.

“What are they really watching it for? They want to see a good press conference, maybe a bit of shoving and shouting… whatever else they put on.

“They will want to see a spectacular event; lighting, fireworks and great walkouts.”

Kavanagh added: “But once it goes click… they don’t really know what they are looking at or have massive interest. Their stomachs wouldn’t be able to see hard fighting.

“I just think majority of people watching this is going be for the entertainment side of it… so put on an entertaining show.”

Tyson vs. Paul continues to be widely condemned by high-profile figures in the combat sports world.

It will be the ageing legend’s first appearance in a ring since his exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr back in November 2020.

As for Paul, he recently scored a big win over Ryan Bourland to improve his professional record to 9-1.
