Anthony Joshua announces the time, venue, and four-man shortlist for his upcoming bout before disclosing Saudi Arabia’s intentions to challenge Tyson Fury.

Anthony Joshua has disclosed that his upcoming bout may be on September 20th or 21st at London’s Wembley Stadium.

After facing Francis Ngannou in the ring on March 8, AJ also revealed who might be in the opposing corner.

The opponent that AJ fights next will depend on the June 1 show in Riyadh. AJ defeated Ngannou in the first two rounds of their fight in Saudi Arabia.

Matchroom vs. Queensberry 5v5 will feature Deontay Wilder vs. Zhilei Zhang and Filip Hrgovic vs. Daniel Dubois on June 1.

AJ also opened up on who could be in the opposite corner, having last taken to the ring to face Francis Ngannou on March 8 (pictured above)

AJ has said he and His Excellency Turki Alalshikh are looking to arrange the ‘most entertaining’ fights for the fans.

Therefore, AJ – who forced a stoppage against Otto Wallin on the Day of Reckoning card in December 2023 – will face whoever puts on the best performance on June 1.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Joshua said: ‘Whenever they tell me there’s a date, you know I’ll be ready 100 per cent. It’s gonna be in London, Wembley Stadium.

‘This is what I’m being told. If that’s what they say, they normally back their word so let’s go with that. Wembley, September 20 or 21.’

When asked who he and His Excellency were targeting as his next opponent, Joshua said: ‘On June 1 in Saudi Arabia they’ve got the 5 vs 5 card.’

The British heavyweight superstar went on to add: ‘You’ve got Filip Hrgovic vs Daniel Dubois, and you’ve got Zhilei Zhang vs Deontay Wilder.

‘So providing one of those looks good – the one who looks the best, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh said to me, ‘I want you to fight [him].’

‘What he says is, ‘In the future I want people to look back at your record and say that you took on the best.’ I said, ‘now you’re speaking my language.’

The June 1 card will see Deontay Wilder take on Zhilei Zhang and Filip Hrgovic take on Daniel Dubois (pictured above) as part of the Matchroom vs Queensberry 5v5 event

Deontay Wilder’s clash with Joseph Parker at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia in 2023 went all 12 rounds, with the judges scoring the bout 118-111, 120-108, 120-108 to Parker

His Excellency is also interested in making AJ vs Fury after the Gypsy King faces Usyk

Joshua has returned to form, beating Ngannou and Otto Wallin after losing to Usyk twice

‘So out of that pool, I believe that’s who I’m gonna be fighting, one of those. We’re on the same page and he’s on the same page as the fans as well.

‘He’s trying to deliver what the fans want, I know they want that big fight with Tyson Fury and he’s working on it.

‘But Fury’s got his obligations with Oleksandr Usyk so I’ve gotta make sure I stay focused and disciplined, keep steamrolling through opponents so I can get closer and closer to having the opportunity of me vs Tyson Fury.’

AJ finished by saying: ‘I pray that he does his thing, I pray that Zhang does his thing. Whichever one looks good and whichever one His Excellency wants, I’m ready.’
