The couple used their Archewell Foundation charity to condemn the violence in Israel

Socialite Lady Colin Campbell has hit out at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after the couple issued a statement on the atrocities in Israel.

The couple used their Archewell Foundation charity to condemn the violence in Israel and point out their own efforts to “support partners and organisations on the frontlines in Israel”.

Speaking on GB News, Lady C said the couple are not in a position to issue a statement on the matter, unlike frontline royal figures like Prince William and King Charles.

She added that the statement only served to give off the impression that the Sussexes are looking to promote their own image.

“Self-promoting jerks”, she said.

“They don’t know their place. Prince William and the King are obliged to make some comment. Harry and Meghan should be making no comment whatsoever.LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

“It is not for royals to make comments, it’s for the representatives of the state to make comment.

“They have forgotten how unimportant they are and they need to remember their place and get back into their corner.”

Royal commentator Phil Dampier waded in by questioning the work the couple are doing on the ground in Israel.

“It’s good for them, talking about international relations when they can’t even sort out their own family”, he said in a dig.

Israel Palestine

Over 1,200 people have died following Hamas’ attacks on Israel over the weekendGETTYIn their statement, the couple stopped short of taking a side in the conflict and instead condemned “all acts of terrorism and brutality”.

Under the title With Heavy Hearts, Harry and Meghan said in a statement on their Archewell Foundation website that they support action to “help all innocent victims of this unconscionable level of human suffering”.

Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israel on Saturday and killed hundreds of Israelis.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration has retaliated with a bombardment that has demolished neighbourhoods in the Palestinian Gaza Strip, and halted the entry of food, water, fuel and medicine into the territory.

It comes as The Duke and Duchess opted to use a seven-car convoy to the World Mental Health Day festival in New York City, despite only travelling 200ft.

The couple were transported from a garage near the Equinox Hotel in Hudson Yards.

In a bid to secure as much protection as possible, their cars were flanked by New York Police Department escorts as they bid to avoid another “near catastrophic” car chase.

This happened after Harry, Meghan and her mother Doria Ragland attended the Women of Vision Awards in May this year.
