TV presenter Alex Jones has revealed she will miss two weeks of The One Show due to being forced to self-isolate.

The popular host was missing from the most recent airing of the show, with Alex Scott and Gethin Jones in the presenter’s seat on Friday (30 October).

Jones did make an appearance via video call though and explained why she wasn’t able to be there in person.

The 43-year-old told Scott and Jones: “I am absolutely gutted that I’m not there.

“What’s happened is, a friend of mine, someone I know outside of work that I saw a few days a go has tested positive for coronavirus.

“So we’ve done the right thing as a family and we’re isolating.

“Now I’ve taken a test and thankfully it’s negative, my friend is fine as well.

“But we are staying in and following guidelines – I’ll probably be back to work the week after next.”

Ever the optimist, Jones, who has two sons Teddy, three, and Kit, one, with husband Charlie Thomson, admitted the period in self-quarantine did have some positives.

“There are definitely upsides to it,” she explained. “Charlie is back with the children, you can probably hear them just above me now, and I will go and read them some stories in a sec, which is lovely.

“The thing is, it is what it is. We are all in the same boat, so that’s it really. But I miss you all. I miss the crew as well.”

Jones made the appearance from her kitchen, and when asked about choosing where to call in from, she said: “This is the only shot of my house where there are no toys, there’s no food on the floor.

“This is literally the only place that’s sort of tidy, this shot. It’s very uninspiring actually isn’t it after I’ve been spying on everyone else’s house.”
