It’s no secret that meeting you partner’s family can be daunting – for Meghan Markle, it was an unforgettable experience.

In their explosive Netflix series, Prince Harry and Meghan recall the time that the Duchess first met the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The impromtu introduction came after meeting Princess Eugenie for lunch.

Before Meghan met the late Queen, however, Harry pulled her to the side and taught her a very important lesson – how to curtsey.

In Meghan’s retelling however, one body language expert said that her exaggerated gesture left Harry “uncomfortable”.

On the curtsey, Prince Harry told Netflix: “How do you explain that to people?… Especially to an American.” Meghan added: “I’m starting to realise this is a big deal” and described it as ‘medieval’.

Meghan then went on to reinact the specific moment, she performed an elborate curtsy and through laughter said: “Pleasure to meet you, Your Majesty.”

Body language expert Judi James, described Harry as uncomfortable and told sources that “Meghan is a natural speaker during thr interview and here she sits talking… in a gossipy style”.

Her self effacing joke lead to a one-sided smile towards an awkward looking Prince Harry.

According to Judi, Harry then tilts his head to the side in a “cut off” gesture to Meghan.

Throughout the series, Meghan repeatedly mentions her shock at the consistent formality within the family and recalls when she first met Kate over dinner she wore ripped jeans, was barefoot and realised that hugging is “really jarring for a lot of Brits”.

Meghan said she was expecting moments when the door closed and “you can relax”, but found the formality carried over on both sides.

The documentary was released after the couple split from the Meghan and Harry stepped down as working royals in January 2020.

It followed a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which the couple said a member of the royal family raised questions over Archie’s skin colour.
