George Clooney Calls Out the Press for Being “Unjust” to Meghan Markle
“Most of it you can just shrug off and not pay attention to, but sometimes it’s unkind.”
George Clooney defended friend Meghan Markle, saying the way the press has been treating her is “a little unjust,” “a little unfair,” and “unkind.”
He also praised Meghan and Prince Harry as a “really wonderful, loving couple.”
Clooney previously stood up for Meghan, saying she’s being chased like Princess Diana was.
George Clooney is standing up for Meghan Markle, saying the press has been “a little unjust” with its treatment of the duchess in the royal spotlight, even though she “hadn’t done anything except just happen to live her life.”
The actor made his comments during an appearance on Good Morning Britain this morning, according to People. “I think it’s a little unfair at times,” he said in the interview. “I’ve seen it when the press can turn on you for sort of ridiculous reasons and for almost nothing, and it seemed to me to be a little unjust since [Meghan] hadn’t done anything except just happen to live her life.”
He later added, “Most of it you can just shrug off and not pay attention to, but sometimes it’s unkind.”
The actor also called the Duke and Duchess of Sussex a “really wonderful, loving couple” and praised Meghan as a “really kind and smart and intelligent young woman” during his Good Morning Britain sit-down.

Although royals don’t usually respond to rumors or tabloid reports about themselves (Meghan has even said she’s stayed away from Twitter), it seems their friends are doing that job for them. In early February, an anonymous group of Meghan’s close friends publicly denounced the “global bullying” against the duchess.
Clooney previously defended Meghan last month, saying she’s being chased like the late Princess Diana was. “She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was and its history repeating itself,” the actor had told Australia’s Who magazine. “We’ve seen how that ends.”
