Loose Women featured actress Fay Ripley as a guest today who spoke about the current series of Cold Feet she’s starring in.

This season has seen her character, Jenny, diagnosed with breast cancer in an emotional storyline.

Before Fay made her entrance to the panel, the ITV programme showed clips from the show which depicted Jenny going through the plot.

But today on the panel was Loose Woman Carol McGiffin who has had breast cancer.

Sorry, I never cry on TV

After the footage had played, Carol was seen visibly upset and had to dry her eyes with a tissue.

She added: “Sorry, I never cry on TV.”

Divulging how she had family and friends who had been diagnosed with cancer, Fay added: “The thing that was hardest for me was I didn’t want to let you down.”

Carol said she hadn’t seen the clips from the new episodes yet as she had only just started watching the series.

Turning to Fay she said: “I thought this will be tough to watch. I hadn’t seen those clips yet.

“Just the look on your face, that’s exactly how it happens isn’t it? Keeping it secret as well I kind of understand that because I didn’t tell anybody, only Mark.”

However, some of those at home branded the programme “insensitive” for not telling Carol about the clips that were shown.

“It was really wrong that she hadn’t been warned and shown it beforehand. Should have been her choice whether she did that show or not. Big lack of foresight from @ITV and @loosewomen who normally do much better,” one wrote.

Another exclaimed: “@McGiff @loosewomen felt very sorry for carol – producers didn’t think that one through showing that clip!!”

“Bad planning, not giving Carol the heads up about that. Very insensitive #loosewomen,” a third wrote.

“Did they not warn Carol they would show that clip? #loosewomen,” a fourth questioned to which another viewer replied: “Cruel.”

A fifth opined: “#LooseWomen how unethical putting all that on with Carol McGiffin on there. Poor show.”

“@loosewomen I CANNOT believe you’ve just done that to Carol McGiffin. So insensitive,” a sixth vented.

Carol returned to Loose Women last year as a guest panellist after five years away.
