Loose Women’s Janet slams ‘vindictive’ timing of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix show

Loose Women’s Janet Street-Porter spoke about the latest full-length trailer for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle upcoming Netflix documentary series

Janet Street-Porter slammed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to release the trailer for their Netflix documentary series during Prince William and Kate’s tour of the US.

The journalist discussed the full-length trailer during Tuesday morning’s Loose Women on the panel alongside Coleen Nolan, Frankie Bridge and host Charlene White.

The explosive trailer, which was released last night and is set to drop in full on the streaming giant later this week, saw Prince Harry tell the Netflix cameras of ‘dirty games’ at work within the Royal Family, as he spoke of the ‘leaking’ and ‘planting’ of stories to the media.

In the ITV studio, Charlene asked whether the divisive response to the trailer could prove to be an overreaction given that nobody has watched the multiple series yet.

Frankie agreed as she replied: “We don’t know what they’re going to say. We all know that trailers and things like that can make something sound really controversial.”

However, Janet then cut in to say: “They have okayed that trailer,” before she turned to Frankie and said: “Sorry to interrupt you. I feel so strongly.”

She continued: “The passion they seem to feel about telling their story led them to release the first trailer during his brother’s very important tour of America. That to me is just a vindictive act. They could have waited.”

Coleen then suggested: “Maybe they think what his brother or his father are doing is vindictive as they’re not getting support.

“He hasn’t had support really since Meghan came into his life.”

Frankie then said: “Let’s be honest, it’s not going to do anything to the Royal Family. If all the alleged stuff with Prince Andrew didn’t bring them down, then I don’t feel this is going to.”

The Loose Women studio then erupted into applause as Frankie celebrated and said: “I think that might be my first Loose Women clap! Don’t ruin it for me Janet!”

It came after This Morning ’s Holly Willoughby exchanged heated words with ITV show guest Camilla Tominey on Tuesday during a debate about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ’s latest Netflix trailer.

Camilla cut in to push back against the suggestion the couple faced media intrusion, asking the guests to name a ‘covert’ paparazzi shot taken of the couple in the UK which was then published in a national newspaper.

Holly responded: “I do remember there were comparisons at the time between how Kate [Middleton] was being treated and how she was being.”

Camilla then replied: “I know, but Holly, even the footage of Kate…,” before Holly cut in: “There was quite a difference there.”

The pair continued to speak over each other before Holly insisted: “I’m saying this because I’m trying to offer another side to this, because I don’t like anyone who’s not here.”
