Piers Morgan’s wife brands Meghan Markle ‘desperate and calculating’ after hospital twerk!

Piers Morgan’s wife Celia Walden left ITV’s Lorraine very divided as she hit out at Meghan Markle after the royal shared a video of her dancing before giving birth

Piers Morgan’s wife has branded Meghan Markle “desperate” in a blistering attack. It comes just hours after the Duchess of Sussex delighted fans by sharing an unseen video of herself and husband Prince Harry in the maternity suite.

In the clip shared on social media, Meghan, 43, and Harry, 40, were seen dancing around her Santa Barbara hospital room as she prepared to give birth to their daughter, Princess Lilibet. But while some people were left overjoyed by Meghan showing her fun side, Celia Walden wasn’t impressed.

Piers Morgan’s wife appeared on ITV’s Lorraine alongside Ranvir Singh and Reverend Richard Coles to discuss the divisive dance video and hit out at the former Suits actress.

“I think we’re going to see more and more stuff offered up for public consumption,” broadcaster Celia said, before adding: “As she gets a bit more desperate to make people like her,” before Ranvir interrupted. She said: “Is that what you think it is, rather than they’re in that generation of oversharing is a thing everybody does anyway.”

Celia responded: “That is true, but I do feel with her, very, very little is not premeditated, I have to say. I’m not sure how much he has to do with the decision-making. I could be being very unfair, perhaps he’s fully in charge in that relationship.”

Elsewhere, Reverend Richard acknowledged that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have to fund a “very lavish life”, explaining: “The opportunities for earning that kind of money you’d need to keep that show on the road, are few and the pressure then is on if you’re going to feed the beast, what’s the next tip that you throw.”

Reflecting on Meghan and Harry’s decision to quit life as senior working royals in January 2020 in a bid for a more financially independent and private lifestyle, Celia said: “There’s no judgement, but you can’t have both.”

But while some criticised the Duchess, Ranvir was quick to defend the video, saying: “I kind of love it because I think it’s really funny and warm. It’s impressive, isn’t it? She’s a great dancer – not too sure about Harry.”

Captioning her video, the Duchess, who was celebrating Lilibet’s fourth birthday, said: “Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work – there was only one thing left to do!”

The clip sees the two royals dancing along to a track with lyrics including: “Been pregnant for way too long,” while relaxing in the maternity room at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Meghan can be seen twerking while Harry showcased his best dad moves.

Meghan’s glowing bump was on full display as she danced around the room without a care in the world. Another lyric appeared to be a dig at her critics, saying: “I’m a baby momma, I can do what I want.”

  • EastEnders icon Michelle Collins admits break from ‘exhausting’ Cindy is needed!

EastEnders icon Michelle Collins admits break from ‘exhausting’ Cindy is needed!

Michelle Collins has opened up about her upcoming break from playing Cindy Beale on EastEnders and even admitted that playing the character was ‘exhausting’

Michelle Collins has revealed that playing infamous Cindy Beale is “exhausting”. The actress left EastEnders fans gobsmacked when she returned from the dead in 2023, and since heading back to Walford, she’s left no stone unturned in her plan of destruction.

Since returning, Cindy has certainly made her mark – reuniting with her former husband, George Knight, and their children, Anna and Gina, after completely vanishing from their bar in Marbella, and even leaving her mother-in-law, Kathy Beale, speechless when she first appeared in her kitchen.

Cindy also found herself having an affair with George’s son, Junior, leaving the Knights’ and Beales’ in a state of disbelief when the bombshell was announced. Over Christmas, she was almost killed when Kathy hit her around the head with a shovel, leaving her for dead in the middle of the square.

Now, she’s opened up about playing the controversial character and admits she finds Cindy “exhausting.” Speaking to Ed Balls and Kate Garraway on Good Morning Britain, Michelle said: “I am loving it, Cindy has taken over The Prince Albert which is really fantastic, so we’re kind of seeing another side to Cindy, a lighter side – which I think, Cindy can be exhausting for people to watch and exhausting for me to play.

“Which is why it’s nice to go off and do something nice. Years ago, they didn’t let people go off and do many things – maybe the odd panto or something but we have a very new lovely producer and I was very quiet.” Speaking about taking a break to pursue another project, Michelle said: “When I broached the idea, he said ‘Maybe we can make it work’ and he has made it work, which is really exciting.

The actress is taking a break from her role on EastEnders(Image: GMB)

“You go off and I am going back, you go back and feel re-engergised, you bring something else to the table.” Michelle added: “You’re doing a continuing drama, continuing throughout the year, it’s good for the soul. It’s good to go and do something else.”

But now, the actress, 63, is heading towards taking a break from the BBC One soap opera and will be turning her hand to a live stage production at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Michelle will be taking part in a one-woman show, which she says is “exciting.”

Michelle will be performing in Motorhome Marilyn, a dark comedy following Denise, an aspiring actress, who had an obsessive relationship with the late Hollywood pin-up.

The show has been inspired by Michelle’s real-life encounter with a woman known in Hollywood as Motorhome Marilyn, who is often spotted on Hollywood Boulevard cosplaying as the movie icon.

But Michelle admits she “wasn’t obsessed” with Marilyn. Speaking about her break, Michelle told the Mirror at the British Soap Awards: “Well I’m going off in the summer. I’m doing my one woman show at the Edinburgh festival, called Motorhome Marilyn.

“I don’t think she’s anything like Cindy. It’s a play about a woman impersonator lookalike who lives in a trailer and dresses as Marilyn Monroe. But she’s 60, it’s kind of strange. It’s about failure, lost dreams, and feeling like life has passed you by. She’s an interesting character. I’m really excited to play it. EastEnders have let me have a month off so I’m very excited.”

  • Royal family’s ‘verdict’ following Meghan Markle’s ‘bizarre’ twerking hospital video

Royal family’s ‘verdict’ following Meghan Markle’s ‘bizarre’ twerking hospital video

“Looks so bizarre,” a royal pundit claims

The sight of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry twerking in video footage will only distance them further from the royal family, an expert claims.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has exclusively weighed in to Royal Insider on the controversial booty-popping clip featuring both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shaking their respective things.

The video, which portrays the heavily-pregnant Meghan and hubby Prince Harry awaiting the arrival of Princess Lilibet in hospital four years ago, has been condemned as “vulgar” and “unnecessary attention-seeking” by detractors.

Verdict on Meghan Markle twerking video

Mr Fitzwilliams also feels the footage is at odds with the perception that Prince Harry and Meghan desire privacy.

He told Royal Insider: “The Sussexes howl about privacy, but come out with this. It’s a surreal to release a video which simply looks weird and I can’t see how it fits into the narrative they are supposedly trying to get across, where she is an important influencer.”

Mr Fitzwilliams also argued the Sussexes’ social media rules aren’t consistent with their actions.

“They knew the photos which show Princess Lilibet in close up would get worldwide attention. But it is unclear why they are usually reluctant to show their children’s faces unless they using them for promotional purposes,” he added.

‘Far too erratic to be trusted’

An unimpressed Mr Fitzwilliams also questioned the Sussexes’ strategy for sharing their brand messaging.

“The twerking video will become notorious,” he went on.

“They made great play of relaunching with a new [communications] team recently. I can’t believe they consulted their advisors before releasing something that looks so bizarre.”

Pondering the decisions that led the second son of the monarch and his wife to release footage of them gyrating their hips on social media, an incredulous Mr Fitzwilliams maintained any hope of a reconciliation would be squashed.

One has to ask, what planet do both of them exist on?

He reflected: “One has to ask, what planet do both of them exist on? The royal family will simply be confirmed in their view that both of them are far too erratic to be trusted.”

Meghan shared the previously-unseen clip on Instagram yesterday (Wednesday June 4).

It was released to celebrate daughter Princess Lilibet turning four.

The footage shows the parents-to-be making moves in front of a phone’s camera to viral song Baby Mama Dance by Mic Drop Mama.

Jade Goody’s final goodbye to sons Bobby and Freddy as family ‘feud’ rages on her birthday

Jade died of cancer in 2009

Big Brother icon Jade Goody left a huge legacy, as well as her two sons, behind when she died just over 16 years ago. Today (June 5) would have been her 44th birthday.

Jade tragically died at age 27 from cervical cancer in March 2009. She found out she had been diagnosed while competing on the Indian version of Big Brother in 2008.

While the family has continued to celebrate her life throughout the years, they have also remained in the headlines after Jade’s sons – Bobby and Freddy Brazier – appear to have distanced themselves from one another.

Here, we take a look a look at Jade’s final moments and the sad truth behind the family division…

    Jade Goody married Jack Tweed

Weeks before her death, Jade got married to Jack Tweed at the Down Hall Country House Hotel in Hatfield Heath, Essex.

Guests included TV presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, and Blue singer Antony Costa, to name a few.

Iconic girl group Sugababes also performed on the big day, and former TOWIE star Mark Wright served as Jack’s best man.

The lavish ceremony was covered by OK! magazine. However, Jade sold the rights to her wedding to TV company Living, who aired a documentary of the wedding. Jade aimed to raise as much money ahead of her death for her two sons.

Jade’s final message to her sons

Before she died, Jade wrote an emotional letter and attached it to a photo album she created for her then-four and five-year-old sons.

The letter read: “Dear Bobby and Freddy – I have asked for this book to be made so that when you are older, you can remember just how much fun we had.

“I thank God that we made the most of our time together, and I treasure the moments we shared. These are the most precious moments.

“Some person much wiser than me once said that if you never discovered something you would die for, then you haven’t lived. Well, you are both proof that I have lived, I will always. Mummy.”

Jade died beside her loved ones

On March 22, 2009, Jade died in her sleep during the early hours with her mum, Jackiey Budden, and friend, Kevin Adams, beside her.

Husband Jack was also there, but admitted he couldn’t face watching her die in the same room.

“It’s horrible to watch someone you love struggling when there’s nothing you can do to help,” he told OK!.

“I kept going in to kiss her and check that she was breathing. But I knew it was going to happen that night. I just couldn’t stay in the room. I wasn’t asleep, I was just lying there waiting.”

Jack said when he heard Jackiey crying, he knew. “I walked into the room, stroked her face, kissed her and broke down,” he added.

Jade’s funeral took place at St John the Baptist Church in Buckhurst Hill, Essex, on April 4. Her sons were not in attendance.

    Family drama

After Jade’s sad death, Bobby and Freddy’s father, Jeff Brazier, was given full custody.

The family has remained in the spotlight since Jade’s passing, but not always for all the right reasons.

Over the past 16 years, Jeff and Jackiey have had a long-lasting feud and traded their fair share of blows. However, only recently, it has been well-documented that Jeff has been taking legal action to stop Jackiey from contacting his son Freddy.

The news arrived shortly after reports of a rift between Jeff and youngest son Freddy emerged. Freddy allegedly sought comfort from his nan, which reportedly annoyed Jeff.

“This is something Jeff and anyone who cares about Freddy hopes will help keep Freddy safe from a relationship that has been incredibly detrimental to his well being for a long time now,” an inside source told The Sun.

“The fact that he is going down this route shows how concerned we all are and how our efforts to keep Fred safe are being grossly undermined by other people.”

Jackiey responded, telling the MailOnline: “I know what this is all about. It [the situation with Jeff] doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter. Do I want to see Freddy? Of course I do. I see Freddy all of the time – I will see him.”

One of Jackiey’s neighbours also added: “I feel sorry for Jackiey. She’s been through so much. It’s a complex situation. I just hope they can be all together again as a family. Her grandchildren mean the world to her. How did it come to this that lawyers are apparently involved? She wants to be the best gran she can be to those boys.”

    Freddy and Bobby’s separation

In the latest update surrounding the family drama, Freddy reportedly did not turn up to his older brother Bobby’s 22nd birthday on Monday (June 2).

According to The Sun, Freddy’s absence from Bobby’s birthday celebrations was noticeable.

“Bobby celebrated his birthday with dad Jeff and step mum Kate over the weekend. It was a really nice family occasion, but everyone really missed Freddy,” a source told the newspaper.

It is believed that Freddy is currently living with Jackiey at her flat while his father takes legal action against his grandmother.

“Jeff was never going to keep Freddy away from his Nanny for very long – they’ve always had a strong bond. Jeff may hate her for all sorts of reasons going back many years, but Freddy loves her very much,” another source told the MailOnline.

They added: “They had a great time together, playing with her dog and catching up at her flat – where he has often stayed over the years. Whatever Jeff hoped to achieve with his legal efforts, it hasn’t worked.

Moment Prince William dubbed ‘His Royal Thighness’ after ‘relatable’ paparazzi picture!

This isn’t the first time William has shown his love for chicken…

Prince William is no stranger to the paparazzi, and on one occasion he even earned the nickname “His Royal Thighness” after fans saw a relatable picture of him.

Over the years, royals have found photos of themselves splashed over headlines, magazines and social media. Even the younger royals have created some iconic pics. But sometimes, one picture stands out to fans. And that’s exactly what happened to Prince William.

Back in 2020, Prince William found himself with a new, unofficial title. And it seems to have resurfaced lately.

    Prince William KFC paparazzi shot

Paparazzi are everywhere when it comes to the royal family. One time, they caught William peering into the window of a restaurant owned by the fast-food chain KFC.

While on a royal engagement, William met with 100 finalists from wife Kate Middleton’s Hold Still photography project that was launched during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.

But on the way there, the prince seemed to be distracted by something going on inside a local KFC restaurant. Or he thought it smelled good and wanted to have a nosey.

So, he stopped walking and couldn’t resist staring through the glass window. He looked very taken by whatever he saw. In the background, passerbys were watching the prince, laughing at what he was doing.

The image very quickly went viral, and KFC’s own social media team jumped on to share their pride.

They shared the photo, with the caption and funny pun: “William whispered quietly to himself: ‘Oh, I just can’t wait to be wing’” – a reference to The Lion King son I Just Can’t Wait To Be King.

I’m sad I didn’t call him His Royal Thighness in the main tweet tbh.

But that wasn’t it, as KFC then followed up again, giving Prince William a whole new title.

They posted on X (then Twitter): “I’m sad I didn’t call him His Royal Thighness in the main tweet tbh.”

    Fans ‘love’ Prince William’s normality

Another image showed a different angle, and you could see what William was peering at. By the looks of things, the prince was watching a woman sit at the counter with her bag of food. He was glancing to see what was in her boxes, while she smiled at him.

The image has been doing the rounds on social media once again, and royal fans all seem to love the normality of it.

One person commented: “I love this pic. It’s so natural.”

Another joked: “I would have definitely offered to share.”

Surprisingly, William’s love for chicken is something he has spoken about before. While it wasn’t KFC he mentioned, he did refer to another chicken restaurant – Nando’s.

During an appearance on the 2020 BBC One documentary Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health, he was asked for his opinion on Nando’s. And it seems he didn’t believe that there were people out there who didn’t appreciate the food chain.

He honestly responded: “I like Nando’s. Everyone likes a Nando’s.”

Prince William has been caught by the paparazzi in numerous situations that make him relatable – and usually it’s when he is enjoying football matches!

David Beckham has finally been awarded a prestigious honour from King Charles in his upcoming Birthday Honours list next week, which will see him become a Sir

David Beckham had dreamed of being knighted, and it’s finally becoming a reality. Becks had a glimmer of hope last year when he was announced as an ambassador to the King’s Foundation, with insiders suggesting it might bolster his knighthood prospects. However, 2024 saw him miss out on the distinguished title again. But his luck appeared to change this year, with reports claiming that he’ll be knighted as early as next week.

The former footballer has a long-standing relationship with His Majesty, who last month revealed he’d sent him a gift for his 50th birthday. While attending the Chelsea Flower Show, Beckham was seen sporting a rose as a buttonhole, and it has since emerged that the flower has a very royal connection.

The King, 76, was heard asking David if he had received the recent gift for his birthday after they met on an official line-up. “You got it, didn’t you?” the Monarch asked. David responded: “It was incredible, thank you. It was very kind.”

Just moments later, Queen Camilla met Beckham and commented: “Nice to see you again, glad you got the roses.” The footballer told Her Majesty that he had a “perfect” but “busy weekend,” adding it was “a lot of fun.” Beckham’s rose, a King’s Rose was named in honour of the King who has never shied away from discussing his love for horticulture.

An incendiary book released last summer targeting his financial dealings might have thwarted his recent efforts. Authored by Tom Bower, it labelled Beckham “money obsessed” and reported on his strategies for legally reducing his tax obligations in the UK.

Beckham’s aspirations for a knighthood were previously dampened in 2014 following HMRC’s reservations. Now 50, Beckham, who also played a pivotal role in England’s 2018 World Cup bid, faced backlash for accepting the ambassadorship at the Qatar World Cup in 2022. Allegedly raking in £150 million from a decade-long partnership, LGBTQ+ groups criticised him sharply due to Qatar’s oppressive laws against same-sex relationships.

    David will become Sir Beckham

His team has countered, arguing that Beckham’s intent was to harness the unifying power of sport as a ‘force for good. ‘ His involvement irked comedian Joe Lycett, who called out Beckham for double standards before theatrically shredding a topless Beckham photo from Attitude, a gay lifestyle magazine.

The saga culminated with Lycett feigning the destruction of £10,000 after Beckham decided not to withdraw from the deal. Weeks after the comedian called Beckham’s defence a ‘cop out’, the Inter Miami owner was once again overlooked for a coveted invitation to Buckingham Palace.

In a prior incident, a snub reportedly triggered an exchange of heated emails between Beckham and his long-standing PR man Simon Oliveira, which were claimed to have surfaced in 2017. Having led initiatives like the London Olympics and dedicating much time to charitable activities with organisations like UNICEF, many predicted the ex-footballer would receive a knighthood in 2014.

Speculation was rife that his association with a film finance initiative deemed by HMRC as tax avoidance had thrown up a ‘red flag’, disrupting his opportunity for the honour.

Victoria will be styled as Lady Beckham

There was no indication of misconduct from those who invested in the Ingenious Media scheme. Reportedly, Beckham reassured Oliveira in leaked emails, maintaining “everything is above board.” Subsequently, in the year following, he contributed £12.7 million in taxes as reported by the Sunday Times Tax List, landing him and his wife Victoria in the 49th spot among the UK’s top 50 taxpayers.

Yet, Beckham’s name was notably absent from the 2014 honours list, leading to the publication on the Football Leaks website – described as the sport’s parallel to Wikileaks. In these alleged communications, David purportedly vented his fury at the perceived oversight, labelling the committee a ‘bunch of c***s’ and slamming the honours system as a “f**king joke”.

He allegedly expressed his frustration, saying: “I expected nothing less… Who decides on the honours? It’s a disgrace to be honest and if I was American I would of [sic] got something like this 10 years ago… It’s p***ed me off those old unappreciative c***s.”

Furthermore, he is reported to have said brusquely: “Unless it’s a knighthood f**k off”. Beckham also reportedly questioned the accolade given to Katherine Jenkins, alluding to her OBE by stating she was awarded the honour for “singing at the rugby”.

Becks has a long standing relationship with the King

In the wake of these comments, Katherine Jenkins’ camp had their say, with her spokesperson indicating the singer received her honour for her services to music and her extensive charity work. Her spokesperson stated that she’d “courageously publicly admitted” experimenting with drugs in her formative years.

Her manager, Professor Jonathan Shalit, further defended Jenkins to The Sun, declaring: “I say Katherine was awarded an OBE for her services to music and charity.”

Beckham, who has been a dedicated Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF since 2003 and initiated his 7 fund for the charity in 2015, found himself at the centre of an email controversy. A spokesperson for UNICEF responded to the leaked emails by stating: “David has given significant funds personally.”

At the time, Beckham’s representative slammed the reports, accusing them of being misleading and based on manipulated content, as they told the Daily Mail: “This story is based on outdated material taken out of context from hacked and doctored private emails from a third-party server and gives a deliberately inaccurate picture.”

A close pal of Beckham spoke to The Mirror about the incident, revealing that although Beckham regretted the messages, they were sent “in the heat of the moment”. The friend elaborated, “Genuinely, he wasn’t as vitriolic as that, but you do say some things in private and in the heat of the moment,” adding that Beckham feels he has contributed greatly to his country.

They continued, “To be honest, he does feel that he has given so much to his country. And sometimes you say things in private that anyone would say and you don’t really mean it. While he was frustrated in those emails, he was over it the moment he sent them. Getting the knighthood is not what his work is about. He doesn’t care if he gets a knighthood or not.”

Britain’s Got Talent hit with Ofcom complaints over Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon’s ‘revealing’ outfits!

Not everyone thought the dresses were appropriate for a family show

Britain’s Got Talent viewers have complained to Ofcom about the eye-popping looks Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon showed off during last weekend’s series finale.

Amanda in particular divided fans last Saturday night (May 31), over whether what she was wearing was appropriate for the ITV talent show, regarded as family viewing.

Detractors claimed Amanda looked “OTT” for the timeslot, and there were also calls for her stylist to be ‘fired’. But while Amanda and Alesha’s outfits also provoked strong reactions from their supporters, some of those watching at home ultimately chose to contact the telly watchdog.

Cheers star George Wendt’s cause of death revealed

What did Amanda Holden wear on BGT?

Viewers saw magician Harry Moulding emerge triumphant for Britain’s Got Talent 2025. But the final programme of the series might be better remembered for how Amanda, 54, and Alesha Dixon, 46, were togged out.

Amanda wowed in a special custom-made dress by Saint Hendrix. The outfit was styled by Karl Willett and Adele Pentland. The judge wore a backless floor-length white gown. The halter-neck skin-tight dress featured a very low front – with two signature pieces drawing attention to the fact it was so low.

Along with the dress, Amanda wore her hair up in a low bun style, with a bespoke hair piece from Louise Mariette. And she matched the outfit to silver jewellery made by The Diamond Lab.

Alesha, meanwhile, seemed to not be making full use of all the buttons available on her outfit. She wore a sheer, glittery shirt dress with her black underwear clearly visible underneath.

‘Let Amanda wear what she wants’

It seems some BGT fans could predict a furore over how they were attired while the show was still broadcasting.

“Let’s wait for the complaints to come in on Amanda Holden’s dress on #BGT. Personally I think it’s lovely,” one viewer posted on X.

Let’s wait for the complaints to come in on Amanda Holden’s dress on BGT.

Another wrote: “And the complaints about Amanda Holden’s dress on a family show incoming in… #BGT.”

And yet another seethed: “Let Amanda wear what she wants. Stop telling people what they can and can’t wear. Mind your own business.”

    Britain’s Got Talent Ofcom complaints

But complaints still poured in to Ofcom. According to reports, the regulator received 72 complaints over Amanda and Alesha’s outfits. 24 other complaints related to language used by fellow judges Bruno Tonioli and Simon Cowell, as well as the overall winner and Joseph Charm’s act.

It isn’t the first time a judge’s clothing has been moaned about to Ofcom. Amanda’s risqué stylings have popped up in the headlines regularly over the years. She told The Sun back in 2017: “It’s been called another national crisis. But oh no, I will not be covered up.”

Whatever Jeff hoped to achieve with his legal efforts, it hasn’t worked.”

  • Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to leave the royal family in their own words!

Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to leave the royal family in their own words!

Harry and Meghan’s decision was dubbed ‘Megxit’

January 8, 2020 – the day the news broke that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they had decided to leave the royal family as working members, but it would be a long time before we found out why.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed they wanted to step back from their senior roles within The Firm, spend more time in North America and become financially independent.

It caused shockwaves around the world, and it soon was dubbed Megxit.

The idea of a rift within the family had been circulating for more than a year, but we wouldn’t find out why Prince Harry and his wife decided to leave the royal family until they opened up years later.

We explore the fallout that erupted afterwards, the legal battles, and the brotherly bond that appears broken beyond repair.

    What happened before Megxit?

The first indication of tensions behind palace doors took place in March 2019, less than a year after Harry and Meghan tied the knot.

Buckingham Palace explains the Sussexes are setting up their own household and moving away from the joint operation with Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Before this and in the lead up to the wedding, the two couples were hailed The Fab Four. But that seemed to have changed somewhere down the line.

Newspapers began reporting on insiders claiming there were rifts between the two couples.

    Harry reveals ‘rift’ with William

Later that year, the Duke himself refers to a rift with William, now first in line to the British throne. While speaking to ITV for the documentary on the Sussexes first official tour in southern Africa, Harry and Meghan mentioned they were struggling with the intense scrutiny from the media and online.

Harry admitted he and William have “good days” and “bad days”.

When he was asked if there was a rift between them, he said that “inevitably, stuff happens” as a result of “this family being under the pressure that it’s under”.

The royal, who claimed he was the ‘spare’ to the throne, added: “We are brothers. We will always be brothers.

“We are certainly on different paths at the moment, but I will always be there for him as I know he will always be there for me.”

January 2020 arrives, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle explain they have decided to leave their roles within the royal family. Reports at the time claim it was a shock to the late Queen Elizabeth II and The Firm.

    What was the Sandringham Summit?

The royal family gathered for what was dubbed the Sandringham Summit days later, to discuss Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to leave the royal family in a working capacity.

The Queen reportedly said she wished they would stay, but respected their choice to live an independent live between the UK and Canada – which was their initial plan.

Meghan was already overseas, so was not present, and as the first discussions were taking place in the afternoon, it’s said she was not ‘called’ due to the time difference. However, Kensington Palace later dismissed rumours Meghan had been purposely shut out, and instead said she and Harry decided she didn’t need to join.

90 minutes of intense discussion led to a rare personal statement from the former monarch.

It wasn’t common for the royals to dish out personal details publicly.

    Queen’s statement

She said: “Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family.

“My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.

“Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives.

“It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK. These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.”

Harry detailed another side to the summit, calling it ‘terrifying’.

He later said in 2022: “It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me, and my father say things that simply weren’t true and my grandmother quietly sit there and sort of take it all in.”

Harry and Meghan told to drop royal and HRH titles

10 days of talks led to a new announcement, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will drop their royal and HRH titles now they’ve decided to leave the royal family.

Buckingham Palace announced on January 19, the couple would no longer use their His/Her Royal Highness titles, receive public funds for duties, and formally represent the Queen.

The Sussexes also put a plan in place to repay £2.4 million of taxpayer money which was used to refurbish Frogmore Cottage estate, where they lived in the UK. They completed this before officially handing the keys back to the royals.

The Queen said “Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family,” and thanked the pair for their “dedicated work”.

The monarch also added she was “particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the family”.

The palace also added: “While they can no longer formally represent the Queen, the Sussexes have made clear that everything they do will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty.”

By the time February 2021 rolls around, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tell the Queen they will not return as working members of the royal family, and stick with their choice to leave.

Why Prince Harry said he decided to leave the royal family – in his own words

The couple sat down for a sensational tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.

They made several allegations, including that a member of the family had raised concerns about the colour of Archie’s skin when he was born. The royals later denied these reports, with Prince William telling reporters they were ‘very much not a racist family’.

Harry said the “toxic environment” of royal life and racism was part of the reason they left the UK. He added they moved to Canada and then Montecito, Los Angeles, after being cut-off financially by his father and losing security.

The couple signed lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify, rumoured to have totalled £120 million, which they used to privately fund security for their family. It came after Donald Trump, during his first term in the presidency, said the US would not pay for their protection.

The Queen put out a rare statement after the interview aired, detailing that although ‘recollections may vary’, they would deal with the matters privately as a family.

Two months later, Harry accuses his family of “total neglect” in his mental health docu-series called The Me You Can’t See.

Harry said: “I felt completely helpless. I thought my family would help – but every single ask, request, warning, whatever it is, just got met with total silence or total neglect.”

Duke’s fears in Netflix documentary series

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle explained again in December 2022 why they decided to leave the royal family. It was in their Netflix series Harry & Meghan.

The now 40-year-old explained to the camera that he found similarities between how his mother, the late Princess Diana was treated, and his wife Meghan.

Harry said he understands “there will be people around the world who fundamentally disagree with what I’ve done and how I’ve done it, but I knew that I had to do everything I could to protect my family”.

“Especially after what happened to my mum. You know I didn’t want history to repeat itself.”

After their relationship became public, Harry says his family questioned why the future Duchess of Sussex should have security when they were only dating.

He said: “The direction from the Palace was don’t say anything,” adding his family asked why she should have “special treatment”.

Harry then alleged: “I said: ‘The difference here is the race element’.”

The dad-of-two filmed the couple leaving the country on a plane, where he said he felt “being part of this family, it is my duty to uncover this exploitation and bribery that happens within our media.”

He mentioned his children in the series, saying he wanted to be able to tell them he ‘did something’ when they look back at what happened when they were older.

    ‘Working with the devil’

Prince Harry spoke about the press many times, detailing it was part of the reason he and Markle decided to leave the royal family.

He claimed other royals would give negative stories to the press to make themselves look ‘better’.

He further claimed they felt threatened by their popularity. Harry alleged: “There’s leaking, but there’s also planting of stories. So, if the comms team wants to be able to remove a negative story about their principal, they will trade and give you something else about someone else’s principal.

“You can always say, ‘I didn’t know about this.’ But have you done anything to stop it? And the answer is no.”

Harry continued: “William and I both saw what happened in our dad’s office, and we made an agreement that we would never let that happen to our office. I’d rather get destroyed in the press than play along with this business of trading. And to see my brother’s office copy the very same thing we promised we’d never do, that was heartbreaking.”

Prince Harry gave more reasons as to why he left the royal family in his bombshell memoir Spare

The now dad-of-two aired more of the royal family’s dirty laundry in his memoir Spare, which came out in January 2023. He claimed the failure of the palace to defend him and Meghan was seen as ‘betrayal’.

He alleged his brother Prince William saw a ‘red mist’ during a physical altercation between them, and accused other royals of getting in “bed with the devil” by using the tabloids.

In a US interview to promote his book, he said he was “stunned” The Firm allowed the Home Office – British government – to take away the Sussexes’ security.

He launched three legal battles in a bid to get his security reinstated, or have the option to pay for police protection, while he and his family were in the UK. In May 2025, he lost his third battle and said he would no longer pursue it. The judicial fight has cost UK taxpayers more than £650,000 so far, with the total figure expected to reach £1 million.

The Firm also did not release any public statements in response to his book.

Prince Harry wants to patch things up with the royal family 5 years after he and Meghan Markle leave

Following his recent legal battle loss, the Duke sat down with the BBC for a rare interview.

He confessed that he couldn’t bring his wife or two children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – to the UK over fears of their safety.

He claimed his father King Charles “won’t speak to me because of this security stuff.” Harry said he wanted to move on from the royal rifts as he did “not know how much longer my father has” after news his father was diagnosed with cancer in 2024.

“There have been so many disagreements between me and some of my family,” the duke added.

“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious.”

Why did Meghan Markle leave the royal family – in her own words

During the 2021 interview with celebrity pal Oprah, Meghan revealed she had thoughts of suicide while she was pregnant with Archie.

She claimed that the institution did not offer or allow her to seek help, and she reached out to her husband to support her.

Meghan further claimed the royals ‘changed protocol’ to deny him a royal title, and refused their son security when he was born. However, this was later proved to be false, as Archie was entitled – and did – receive his Prince title when Charles ascended to the throne.

Then, in the Netflix series, we saw a personal recording of the Duchess. Meghan filmed herself when the couple arrived in Canada, and she claimed in a clip: “Unfortunately, in us standing for something, they are destroying us.”

She also claimed in the series that she was not invited to the Sandringham Summit, after the palace explained she was.

She responded: “And you, as the mom and the wife and the target, in many regards, aren’t invited to have a seat at the table.”

Brooklyn Beckham family feud gets devastating update with ‘no way back’

Sources claim that despite Romeo Beckham splitting with his girlfriend, it would take a ‘small miracle’ for normal family relations to resume after a series of hurtful claims

Romeo Beckham’s split from his girlfriend won’t heal fractured family relations, friends believe. Insiders say it would take a “small miracle at present” for peace to break out between Brooklyn and his parents David and Victoria.

It comes as his wife Nicola Peltz’s friends previously blamed Romeo’s girlfriend Kim Turnbull for them not going to David’s 50th. Pals alleged it was because Brooklyn had a brief romantic liaison with her, which was denied by Beckham’s friends.

The Beckhams, Peltz’s pals claimed, “chose Kim over Brooklyn.” But friends of the Beckhams said this characterisation was wrong – and were furious that Kim had been “thrown under the bus.”

One source said Romeo’s split from her would not change things. “There are no signs of reconciliation, sadly. There is still a lot of hurt to process,” the source said.

Divided: Beckham family (Image: victoriabeckham/Instagram )

Sources close to Nicola have previously insisted that as “an outsider coming into the Beckham family, she has helped Brooklyn see the emotional abuse and toxic behaviour within”. The claims – described as “patently untrue and ludicrous” by friends of David and Victoria – were the “nail in the coffin” of any future relationship, according to insiders.

Such claims have “sunk for now” any chance of peace talks. One said: “It was a low, low blow…how can you say such things about your own family. It will be interesting to see if Brooklyn and Nicola make any attempt to heal things now Kim is out of the picture.”

Romeo and Kim had been together for just seven months. But the relationship between Romeo, 22 and Kim, 24, ended three weeks after David Beckham’s 50th birthday, which was at the start of last month.

A source said of the split: “They split a few weeks ago and it’s all amicable and they are still friends.” Romeo is a former footballer who now works as a model, becoming the face of the Burberry children’s line at the age of just 10.

He was on the Versace runway at this year’s Milan fashion week. Kim, from London is a model and also works as an international DJ from.

It comes after Romeo said he must stop stressing about “small things” and called for more “respect” after posting a poignant family message following an emotional weekend. The model was overcome following his dad David’s former club PSG’s Champions League final win over Inter Milan at the weekend.

Manager Luis Enrique was reduced to tears as supporters paid a heartfelt tribute to his late daughter during the pinnacle of their club’s history. He said on Instagram: “I watch stuff like this and look at myself and think why am I stressing about something so small. In the grand scheme of things, love who you love without question, take care of each other, respect each other and enjoy life.”

Last month the Mirror reported how friends of David and Victoria Beckham said the pair were worried about Brooklyn’s ‘unhealthy’ relationship with his wife Nicola.
