INSIDE THE RENOVATION: New images reveal how Swiss ski bar owners personally renovated the club themselves — as they now face manslaughter charges following the deadly blaze

Pictures have revealed how the owners of a Swiss nightclub where dozens of people were killed in a horrific blaze on New Year’s Eve were involved in some of the works to renovate the venue a decade ago.

Jacques Moretti, 49, and his wife Jessica, 40, who opened Le Constellation bar in 2015, could face manslaughter charges over the tragedy if their safety standards or fire precautions were found to be lacking, Swiss authorities have said.

The inferno, which broke out at around 1.30am local time (12.30am GMT) on Thursday morning, killed at least 40 people and another 119 were injured – most of them in their teens and twenties with severe third-degree burns. While Swiss authorities confirmed 40 victims, the Italians said 47 were dead.

Much suspicion has already focussed on the dimpled foam acoustic insulation which covered the ceiling of the basement bar and appeared to ignite from a sparkler held aloft on a Champagne bottle, then spread with terrifying ferocity.

And these photos, discovered on a Facebook account set up by the French couple in 2015, chronicling their DIY renovation of the bar, show the ceiling was completely stripped back at the time, with the foam then applied as the final layer.

In one image Mr Moretti can be seen smiling at the camera inside the building site in June that year. Another shows the French owner – who can be seen donning a pair of blue safety gloves – watch on as a man operates a digger amid a sea of rubble in the downstairs area of the club which caught fire.

The Morettis, speaking publicly for the first time, insisted that all laws and regulations had been followed and claimed that the bar had been checked by safety inspectors three times in the last 10 years.

‘Everything was done according to the regulations,’ Jacques Moretti, 49, told the La Tribune de Genève newspaper. ‘We can neither sleep nor eat. We are not well.’

He denied reports that the stairs leading from the basement where the fire started to the main exit were too narrow or that non fire-retardant materials were used in furnishings or soundproofing foam on the ceiling.

‘We will do everything in our power to help clarify the causes. We are doing everything in our power. Our lawyers are also involved.’

A photo appears to show the moment champagne sparklers set fire to material on the ceiling of the Swiss nightclub

The couple have already been questioned by authorities and may face manslaughter charges, according to Beatrice Pilloud, the attorney general for the Valais region.

Pilloud said: ‘We assume that the fire originated from sparklers attached to champagne bottles. From there, the ceiling caught fire.

‘We are also looking at what materials were used. The issue of emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and the bar’s occupancy is also being investigated.’

She added: ‘Our investigation also includes the foam on the ceiling. It is still unclear whether any individuals will face criminal charges. However, it is possible that an investigation for negligent homicide will be initiated.’

She declined to comment on whether any action would be taken to prevent the couple from fleeing Switzerland, stating: ‘There is currently no criminal liability.’

Stéphane Ganzer, the state councillor in charge of security in Valais, said he wasn’t aware of any safety deficiencies in the club, but admitted: ‘I don’t know when the municipality carried out the inspections. We haven’t received any reports of deficiencies. However, we assume that the inspections were conducted.’

Pilloud said a team of 30 are involved in the investigation, though the priority for authorities ‘remains identifying the deceased so that the families can begin their grieving process’.

Chief Inspector Pierre-Antoine Lengen said at the same press conference that another 30 people are involved in the identification process for the victims, with everyone looking at victims’ DNA and dental records, as well as items they may have been carrying before they perished.

But Lengen admitted that this process would take significant time and apologised to the families of those still waiting to hear of their loved ones’ fates.

As for those injured in the fire, Pilloud said the number of people affected may still go up, given that many of those in Le Constellation only checked themselves into hospital hours after the fire.

Jessica Moretti, 40, (pictured) was inside the bar when the blaze broke out and suffered burns to her arm

Images from 2015 show the panelling on the ceiling of Le Constellation bar – investigators believe this is what caught fire and started the blaze

Mrs Moretti was in the bar when the blaze began and was burnt on the arm. Her husband was in one of the two other restaurants that they own in the area.

In a property feature, the couple stressed the hard work they had put into the refit of the tired Café Des Amis, which they turned into a lively nightspot.

In 2015, they acquired the Constellation, which was then abandoned. ‘The place had been left exactly as it was,’ the French-Coriscan couple said.

One hundred days of relentless work later, the venue reopened, completely transformed and displaying strong, clear choices. ‘We were already offering Corsican cured meats, myrtle liqueur, and island whisky,’ they said.

On the Facebook photos the couple can be seen taking an active part in the refurbishment with Jacques alongside workmen and Jessica even stopping the traffic in the narrow streets of Crans as deliveries of furniture and other materials are made from huge lorries.

Jacques Moretti told Le Nouvelliste, a local newspaper, that he spent six months transforming Le Constellation into a buzzy night spot for the après-ski crowd of the upmarket resort’s winter season.

The bar with an upstairs terrace and a basement club, featuring DJs and live music, became one of the most popular nightspots in the town with a clientele of mainly young and affluent winter sports fans and locals.

According to the Crans-Montana website, the bar offered an ‘elegant space’ and a ‘festive atmosphere’ with online descriptions of it being the ‘place to be’ and popular with an international crowd.

It’s understood that it is also one of few bars in the ski resort that allows revellers who are 16 and over inside rather than having to be 18.

Footage shows the deadly flashover, when extreme heat caused everything inside the enclosed space to ignite almost at once, that left people little chance to flee

Footage from the evening shows a brave reveller trying to put out the first flames as they spread across the wooden ceiling of the cramped basement bar in south-west Switzerland

Despite his efforts, the blaze would soon engulf the crowded basement, travel up the narrow wooden stairs and set off explosions so deafening that residents feared a terror attack

He and his wife first visited Crans-Montana in 2011, after he ‘heard about it from Swiss clients’, according to a local newspaper Le Nouvelliste. The article told how the couple fell in love with the resort and decided to build a business there.

Describing his efforts to open the club, Mr Moretti told the newspaper: ‘I did almost everything myself. Look at these walls, there are 14 tons of dry stone, it comes from Saint-Léonard!’

He told how his bar served as ‘a showcase for Corsican products’, selling cured meats, wines, beers, myrtle liqueur, and even chestnut-flavoured whisky from the island, along with more local Swiss products.

Mr Moretti admitted to ‘feeling very much at home here’ in the Swiss resort, telling his local interviewer: ‘You know, we’re the same. We’re mountain people first and foremost. Stubborn, but above all, very kind.’

Another article in French-language Altitude magazine last year described Mr and Mrs Moretti as ‘brimming with energy’ and added: ‘Their slightly sing-song accent betrays their Corsican origins.’

The success of Le Constellation under the couple’s stewardship led to them opening a gourmet burger restaurant in Crans-Montana, called Senso in 2020, and a Corsican-style inn called Vieux Chalet in the nearby village of Lens in 2023.

This led to the couple drawing up plans to set up a Corsican festival in Lens, bringing in Corsican singers to perform concerts in a church and on an outdoor stage in the evening.

While Mr Moretti does not appear to have a visible social media presence, his wife has pages on Instagram as well as Facebook and a LinkedIn account which describes her as Propriétaire, or owner of their three businesses.

Parents of missing youths have issued desperate pleas for news of their children, as foreign embassies scramble to work out if their nationals were among those caught up in one of the worst tragedies to befall modern Switzerland.

Police commander Frédéric Gisler said all bar six of the 119 injured have been formally identified, but Swiss officials are yet to share the names of any victims or injured.

The injured included 71 Swiss nationals, 14 French and 11 Italians, along with citizens of Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Luxembourg, Belgium, Portugal and Poland, according to Frédéric Gisler, police commander of the Valais region.

The nationalities of 14 people were still unclear.

Six Italians are still missing and 13 hospitalised, while eight French people are missing and another nine are among the injured.

The first deceased victim to be named was 17-year-old Emanuele Galeppini, an Italian teenage golfer.

British-educated teenager Charlotte Niddam, who previously attended Immanuel College – a private Jewish school in Hertfordshire – is also among those missing.

THE NEW KING HAS ARRIVED! ATTENBOROUGH PASSES THE BATON AS HAMZA YASSIN “BREAKS THE INTERNET”!

Move over, every polished presenter who ever read a script about badgers: Britain has chosen its new natural-history heartbeat, and he’s a 6-foot-6 Sudanese-Scottish giant who learned to track lynx before he could drive, cries when otters hold hands, and once spent 42 straight nights sleeping in a hide just to film pine martens falling in love.

Last night, BBC One dropped the first trailer for Hamza’s Wild Britain (a six-part landmark series launching spring 2026), and within four hours it became the most-watched BBC trailer in a decade. The final 15 seconds alone have been viewed 28 million times: Hamza, knee-deep in a Highland river at dawn, whispering so gently the microphone barely catches it as a mother otter teaches her pup to swim literally inches from his face. No music. Just his soft Glasgow-Sudanese lilt: “Look… she’s telling him the water will hold him, if he trusts it. Same thing my mum told me when we arrived in Scotland and I couldn’t speak a word of English.”

Hamza arrived in rural Northamptonshire from Sudan at age eight, speaking no English, clutching a bird book his father gave him “because birds don’t care what language you speak.” By twelve he was the weird kid cycling ten miles before school to photograph kingfishers. At sixteen he won Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year with a shot of a fox cub yawning that looked like it was laughing at the universe. University (Bangor, zoology) was just an excuse to live closer to puffins.

Then came the decade nobody saw: camera-operating on Planet Earth IIISpringwatch, and Countryfile, always the guy in the muddy boots who could lie motionless for 14 hours until a badger sniffed his lens and decided he was harmless. Crew nicknamed him “the Otter Whisperer” after he filmed the first-ever footage of wild otters playing with pebbles in the Cairngorms, entirely by becoming part of the furniture for six weeks.

His big break was accidental. In 2022 he entered Strictly Come Dancing “because my mum loves glitterballs and I thought it might pay for a new hide.” He won the whole thing with Jowita Przystał, foxtrotting like a man who’d spent his life learning rhythm from golden eagles soaring on thermals. Overnight, eight million people discovered the gentle giant who spoke about conservation between sambas.

The BBC pounced. First Hamza: Wild Isles (2024), then the Emmy-nominated Hamza’s Sudan (2025), where he returned to his birthplace to film the last northern white rhinos under the same stars he watched as a child. Critics called it “the most emotional hour of television this decade.” Viewers just called it “life-changing.”

Now Hamza’s Wild Britain is being billed as the spiritual successor to Attenborough’s Life on Earth. Shot entirely by Hamza himself (he still refuses a full camera crew because “animals don’t like strangers”), it promises never-before-seen behaviour: red squirrels teaching their young to tightrope-walk power lines, urban foxes using pedestrian crossings at night, golden eagles hunting in snowstorms so violent Hamza had to be roped to a cliff for three days.

The trailer’s money shot? Hamza lying flat on his stomach in a peat bog at 4 a.m., face inches from a wild mountain hare in its white winter coat. The hare slowly reaches out and touches his beard with its paw. Hamza doesn’t move, doesn’t breathe. When the hare eventually hops away, he whispers to camera, voice cracking: “Sometimes the wild decides you’re worth trusting. That’s the best feeling in the world.”

Sir David himself has already given the ultimate blessing. In a rare statement, the 99-year-old legend said: “Hamza sees the natural world the way poets see love: with wonder that never ages. The baton isn’t being passed; it’s being shared.”

Social media is flooded with kids posting drawings of otters wearing glittery bow ties “for Uncle Hamza.” Primary schools are reporting record numbers of children wanting to become “rangers instead of YouTubers.” The RSPB’s junior membership has tripled in six months.

Hamza, being Hamza, responded to the “new Attenborough” hype with typical humility on Instagram last night: a simple photo of his muddy wellies next to a child’s drawing of an otter holding a glitterball, captioned, “I’m just the tall idiot who talks to animals. Thank you for letting me into your living rooms. I’ll try to make the planet prouder than I am right now.”

Britain has a new voice for its wild places, and it sounds like hope wrapped in a Highland breeze. Spring 2026 can’t come soon enough.

Holly Ramsay has unveiled her stunning wedding dresses — including a sweet, emotional tribute to her mum that’s melting hearts

New wife Holly Ramsay wore three separate special dresses on her big day (Picture: Goff/Splash)
Holly Ramsay wore not one show-stopping wedding dress, but three during her wedding to Adam Peaty.

The couple tied the knot at the opulent Bath Abbey on December 27, though the big day was surrounded by drama in the run-up, with reports of the Peaty family being uninvited from the big day.

The bride opted to wear a stunning, trailing Elie Saab gown to walk down the aisle, complete with an intricate lace veil and Amina Muaddi heels.

She told Vogue that her choice for the dramatic gown was inspired by the venue’s 65 metre aisle, saying she knew she ‘needed something long’ to make an impact.

As well as this dress and a ‘short and fun’ second Saab number, she also paid tribute to her mum, Tana Ramsay, during her wedding day by donning her gown from when she tied the knot with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay in 1996.

‘My parents would love it if I did one look,’ she joked to the publication, who published world exclusive images of all three dresses, ‘but I’m doing two changes.’

‘I’ve always loved the idea of bringing in mum’s dress at some point,’ she continued.

‘It’s beautiful: silk with a V-neckline and pearls all the way around. I tried it on and it fit me perfectly – it didn’t need any altering.’

She said there were tears when Tana saw her wearing the dress, but it was, in fact, her foul-mouthed father who had been the most emotional about her wedding.

‘Dad cries every time I talk about the wedding,’ Holly revealed ahead of the ceremony. ‘The other day I was asking him which car he and I would take to the church, and he welled up immediately.’

She also said Gordon has been ‘extremely involved’ with the catering on the big day, working with his team at London’s Savoy Grill for the menu.

She also wore a ‘short and fun’ second number for the evening reception (Picture: @hollyramsaypeaty/Instagram)
Holly and Adam hosted more than 200 guests, including Sir David and Victoria Beckham, in attendance.

The happy day has been overshadowed by drama behind-the-scenes, with it emerging last month that Adam’s mother, Caroline, had been asked not to attend.

Rumours first started swirling of a family fallout after Caroline was notably absent from Holly’s hen-do at Soho Farmhouse, with sources close to the swimmer then claiming he’d been ‘changed by money, fame and fortune.’

News then broke that Adam’s brother James was arrested on ‘suspicion of harassment’ following his stag do in Budapest, with Adam then releasing a statement addressing ‘challenging times’ and asking people to be aware that there are ‘two sides to every story.’

Most special of all, she wore her mum Tana’s wedding dress too from when she tied the knot with celebrity chef dad Gordon Ramsay in 1996 (Holly pictured with new husband Adam Peaty at their engagement party in December 2024) (Picture: @hollyramsaypeaty/Instagram)
It was also reported that Adam uninvited his close friend and fellow swimmer, Michael Gunning, due to him ‘staying close’ to Caroline.

His great aunt and uncle were also allegedly ‘brutally’ uninvited in an automated message just days out from the wedding.

Adam’s older sister Bethany – who was one of Holly’s three Maids of Honour – was the only immediate Peaty family member allowed to attend the wedding.

Brooklyn Beckham’s relationship with his parents is reportedly “over” after he rejected an olive branch — leaving those closest to him stunned

Sources say Brooklyn Beckham considers his relationship with his parents ‘over’ (Picture: cloud23/tiktok / GETTY)
Brooklyn Beckham has reportedly drawn a firm line under his fractured relationship with his famous parents.

Sources close to the family claim that the eldest Beckham child’s relationship with his parents is effectively ‘over’ despite renewed efforts by David Beckham and Victoria Beckham to heal the divide.

The 26-year-old, who has been living in the US with his wife Nicola Peltz, welcomed the New Year far from home, partying in Florida while David seemingly reached out and tried to make amends.

On New Year’s Eve, the legendary football star shared a carousel of photos to Instagram in which he reflected on the past 12 months.

He captioned the post: ‘I feel very lucky to have had the year I’ve had in 2025 full of moments that I will never forget from my 50th to my knighthood ( still pinching myself ) and then finishing with winning the MLS as an owner, I’m so grateful to my incredible wife, my amazing children, my friends and team I work with every single day nothing would have been possible without you all.

‘But as Sir Alex Ferguson would say “Onto the next”. Thank you for the incredible memories I will forever remember 2025.’

Many have interpreted David’s post with a young Brooklyn as an olive branch (Picture: Instagram / David Beckham)

He also posted an old family picture, writing ‘I love you all’ (Picture: Instagram / David Beckham)

While he didn’t name Brooklyn, he emphasised how much he loves his family (Picture: Instagram / David Beckham)
He then tagged his wife Victoria and added: ‘I love you and our kids.’

The series of photos showed snaps taken with his wife and their three youngest children, as well as with his parents, being knighted by King Charles, and at his birthday celebrations with various friends – none of them featuring Brooklyn.

However, later on New Year’s Eve, David then shared a series of photos to his Instagram stories, including one with his eldest son.

Posting a photo with each of his four children when they were younger, he wrote: ‘I’m so grateful for my family. I love you all.

‘I’m so lucky to have my amazing family.’

Alongside the photo with Brooklyn, he wrote: ‘I love you all so much.’

He continued: ‘I’m a very lucky Daddy.’

Then sharing a photo with Victoria cuddling a baby Harper and flanked by their sons while all sitting on a couch, he added: ‘You are my life. I love you all, love Daddy. Onto 2026.’

Meanwhile, Brooklyn and Nicola were far from home for New Yeara (Picture: nicolaannepeltzbeckham)

The pair seemed unconcerned as they posted loved-up selfies (Picture: nicolaannepeltzbeckham)
The post, specifically the photo showing Brooklyn, was then re-shared by Victoria, who simply posted a love heart emoji beside it.

But the gesture may have been insufficient, as, according to one source, Brooklyn now considers his relationship with his parents beyond repair, despite their visible attempts to reach out publicly.

A source told The Mirror: ‘While things between him and his parents are over, Brooklyn is still very fond of his grandparents. There is a lot of love for them, and that has never faltered.’

The publication’s source described the gesture as David’s ‘boldest olive branch yet.’

Another source told The Mirror: ‘David and Victoria will never give up trying to secure a reconciliation between them and their son. Nothing will change that, and they live in hope. He will always be their son, and they are not going to stop putting on record their feelings.’

The rest of the family spent the holidays together, without Brooklyn (Picture: Instagram)
Meanwhile, Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz have continued to present a united front amid mounting public scrutiny.

The couple, who were also absent from Christmas in the Cotswolds and several major family events throughout the year, have remained largely silent as fans urge Brooklyn to repair the relationship.

The situation escalated further last month when Brooklyn’s younger brother Cruz publicly claimed the family had been blocked without warning, contradicting reports that David and Victoria had unfollowed their son.

SHOCK HEALTH CONFESSION: A Marvel star has revealed they suffered brain damage following a major accident — admitting life has never been the same since

A Marvel star has revealed their recent ‘brain damage’ diagnosis (Picture: Jesse Grant/ Getty)
A major star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films has revealed she has been diagnosed with ‘brain damage’ after suffering a terrible injury.

Evangeline Lilly, 46, who played Hope Van Dyne (the Wasp) in the MCU’s Ant Man and the Wasp series, took to Instagram on Thursday evening to give fans an update.

The actress is also known for playing Kate Austen in all six seasons of the 2000s TV phenomenon Lost, which was primarily filmed in Hawaii during its run.

And it was during a return trip to Hawaii in 2025 that Evangeline suddenly fainted and fell head first into a boulder, leaving her with bruises and scars across her face.

Sadly, it appears the physical injuries she suffered weren’t the only issues caused by the traumatic event – it left her concussed has now apparently left her with ‘brain damage’.

Evangeline said in a video on Instagram: ‘It’s late on January 1st. The first day of 2026. I’m entering into this new year, the year of the horse, with some bad news about my concussion.

‘A lot of you have asked how I’m doing. A lot of you have enquired about the brain scan that you heard I got. The results came back from the scan, and almost every area in my brain is functioning at a decreased capacity.’

She continued: ‘I do have brain damage from the TBI (traumatic brain injury) and possibly other factors going on. My job now is to get to the bottom of that with my doctors.

‘Then I’ll embark on the hard work of fixing it, which I’m not looking forward to – I feel like hard work is all I do. But that’s okay. My cognitive decline is because I smashed my face open [but] it’s helped me to slow down.’

She also starred as Kate Austen on Lost (Picture: ABC Inc/ Everett/ Rex/ Shutterstock)
She concluded: ‘It’s taught me to have a more restful finish to my 2025. I think this was the most restful Christmas holiday I’ve had, maybe, since I’ve had children. So, 14 years ago – that’s a good thing.

‘I’m still feeling extraordinarily grateful and blessed to be able to play for one more day, one more year on this beautiful living planet. So, that is my concussion update. Thank you all for caring.’

In May 2025, Evangeline revealed that she had ‘blacked out’ suddenly in Hawaii, sharing pictures of bad scarring on her face from the fall – particularly around her nose and mouth.

In the aftermath, the Hobbit actress had to pull out of several media appearances and confessed that she had experienced fainting spells since childhood.

The Canadian actress shot to fame as main character Kate Austen on the American TV show Lost, which ran between 2004 and 2010, and earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

Before starring in four MCU films as the Wasp, she also appeared as the elf Tauriel in Peter Jackson’s The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of Five Armies from the Hobbit trilogy.

BREAKING: Declan Donnelly and his longtime partner, Ali Astall, have just dropped a DOUBLE BOMBSHELL baby announcement — welcoming twin babies AT AGE 50 — and it’s the TWINS’ NAMES that are breaking the internet! They waited years. They kept it private. Then, on a quiet morning in London… they shared a single post. Two newborns resting gently in Declan Donnelly’s arms. A smile — and tears — on both Declan and Ali’s faces. But it wasn’t just the twins that captured everyone’s hearts — It was their names…

Declan Donnelly and Ali Astall Stun Fans With Secret Twin Baby Reveal at Age 50 — and It’s the NAMES That No One Saw Coming

For years, they chose silence instead of headlines.
    Privacy instead of publicity.
A quiet life instead of constant speculation.

And then — without warning — Declan Donnelly and his longtime partner, Ali Astall, did the unthinkable.

Early on a peaceful London morning, while much of the city was still waking up, a single post appeared online.

Just one photograph — and a handful of words powerful enough to set social media ablaze.

The image showed Declan, 50, bathed in soft natural light, cradling two newborn babies in his arms.

Wrapped in simple cream blankets, the twins slept soundly, completely unaware that their arrival had just sparked a global reaction.

Beside him sat Ali, her face glowing with emotion — smiling through unmistakable tears.

Within minutes, fans realized this was no ordinary announcement.

    This was a double bombshell.

Not only had the couple quietly welcomed twin babies after years of guarding their private journey — they had done it without a single leak, rumour, or confirmation along the way.

    “They waited years.”
    “They kept it completely private.”
“And then they shared everything in one unforgettable moment.”

The post spread at lightning speed across social media.
    Screenshots flooded timelines.
Entertainment outlets scrambled to push out updates.

Fans around the world reacted with a mix of shock, joy, and disbelief.

But as the initial surprise began to settle, it became clear that it wasn’t only the twins themselves capturing everyone’s attention.

    It was their names.

In the caption, Declan and Ali quietly revealed the twins’ names for the very first time:
Theodore James Donnelly and Elijah Rowan Donnelly.

    Almost instantly, the internet erupted.

Fans called the names “unexpected,” “deeply meaningful,” and “beautifully classic.”

Others praised their timeless quality, noting how both felt traditional yet emotionally rich.

Online, speculation quickly followed — with users wondering about family connections, personal symbolism, and whether the names paid tribute to loved ones from the couple’s past.

“Theodore” was widely seen as a name rooted in strength and legacy, while “Elijah” sparked discussion for its softer, more poetic tone.

The middle names — James and Rowan — only deepened the intrigue, sending fans searching for hidden meanings behind every choice.

One comment summed up the collective feeling perfectly:
“The names feel chosen with love, not trends.”

The secrecy surrounding the twins’ arrival only amplified the emotional impact.

In an age where celebrity lives are documented in real time, Declan and Ali’s decision to wait — and to speak only when they were ready — felt almost radical.

Sources close to the couple described the announcement as “deeply intentional.”

According to insiders, the post was shared without media advisers or promotional strategy.
“This wasn’t about attention,” one source said.

    “It was about family.”

Friends say becoming a parent later in life has brought a profound sense of peace to Declan.

“There’s a calmness about him,” one insider shared. “He feels grounded.”

Ali, meanwhile, has been widely praised for her strength and quiet grace.

Messages poured in applauding her decision to protect such a deeply personal chapter of their lives until now.

“She guarded her family fiercely,” one fan wrote.

As the day went on, reactions continued to flood in — from fellow celebrities, longtime supporters, and parents who saw their own journeys reflected in the story.

Many described the announcement as “quietly powerful” and “deeply moving.”

And then, just as deliberately as it appeared, the moment ended.

    No follow-up posts were shared.
    No interviews were announced.

    Two names.

And two newborn lives, introduced to the world on their own terms.

Sometimes the biggest stories don’t arrive with noise or spectacle.

Sometimes, they arrive softly — and linger with us long after the moment has passed.

Strictly Come Dancing star Vicky Pattison’s fans have said that they ‘can’t wait’ after she shared a career update with the help of her close friend Pete Wicks.

Vicky and Pete have been friends for a number of years, having been featured on Celebrity Gogglebox together and taken part in a huge Icelandic trek for the breast cancer awareness charity, CoppaFeel.

Last month saw the pair reunite for an episode of Pete and Sam Thompson’s Staying Relevant podcast. With Sam away visiting the I’m A Celebrity set at the time, Vicky and Pete got to speak about their separate appearances on Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Geordie Shore I’m A Celebrity winner was seen last year competing on the annual BBC dancing competition with professional dancer Kai Widdrington. The pair were a popular couple on the series which was eventually won by Karen Carney and Carlos Gu.

Vicky and Kai were sent home by judges Craig Revel Horwood,Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas after landing in the dance-off at the beginning of November with EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal and Julian Callion.

Back in 2024, Pete managed to make it all the way to the series’ semi-final with the help of Jowita Przystal. Sadly, their journey ended just before the final after being in the dance-off with Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec.

With their friendship now having Strictly to talk about, Vicky took to Instagram on Monday (January 5) to reveal that she and Pete were hanging out once again. Sharing a video, they could be seen lip syncing to a viral TikTok sound about ordering a vodka and tonic when the bar doesn’t have apple juice.

Writing on the video, where they sat beside each other in a restaurant booth, read: “Pov: Our attempt at dry January.

In her post’s main caption, Vicky revealed that they were actually spending time together for her and her husband Ercan Ramdan’s new reality show. Vicky and Ercan tied the knot to last year, which Pete was in attendance at.

“How’s everyone else’s resolutions going??! Not a bad start to 2026 really, got to film with this fella today for mine and @ercan_ram’s new show…Coming in March to @e4grams.

“And don’t forget to tune in tonight at 9pm to @uandw_ for the premiere of series 3 of @petewicksfordogssake,” Vicly wrote.

Pete replied to the post by poking fun at himself, saying: “Can’t believe I actually managed to lip sync in time…new year, new me.”

The rest of the comments section of Vicky’s post saw her and Pete’s fans expressing their delight at seeing them back together again and their excitement at Vicky’s latest TV project.

Pete’s former Strictly partner Jowita Przystal said: “Aww excited news, miss you.” @hthomaspictures added: “Can’t wait for the awesome show.”

    Gift baskets

Amid The Grief, Jesy’s Raw Vulnerability Has Touched Hearts Everywhere — A Reminder That Even In The Darkest Moments, The Pain Of A Mother’s Love Is Impossible To Measure

Jesy Nelson has shared the most heartbreaking update of her life, revealing that her twin daughters have been diagnosed with the rare genetic condition Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) — a disease that doctors warned could mean they may never walk.

The former Little Mix star, 34, welcomed twins Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster with her fiancé Zion Foster in May, following a high-risk and emotionally draining pregnancy. Now, just eight months later, Jesy has told fans that her life has been turned upside down.

In an emotional Instagram video, Jesy struggled to hold back tears as she admitted she is “grieving a life I thought I was going to have with my children.” She explained that SMA affects every muscle in the body, leading to severe weakness, breathing difficulties and problems with swallowing.

Jesy revealed that she has effectively become a nurse to her own babies, saying she is now putting her daughters on breathing machines and doing things “no mother should ever have to do with their child.”

The singer said concerns were first raised when her mum noticed the twins were not moving their legs as much as expected. Initially, Jesy was reassured that their development would be slower because they were born prematurely. She was repeatedly told not to compare them to other babies and that everything was fine.

But over time, worrying signs appeared. The twins began struggling to feed properly, and despite multiple GP visits, Jesy was reassured again that it was normal. After months of relentless appointments and pushing for answers, the devastating diagnosis finally came: SMA Type 1 — the most severe form of the condition.

Jesy explained that without treatment, babies with SMA Type 1 often do not live past the age of two. She said time was critical, describing how quickly everything moved once specialists became involved.

After assessments at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Jesy and Zion were told their daughters would likely never be able to walk, may never regain neck strength, and would live with lifelong disabilities.

“The best thing we can do right now is get them treatment and hope for the best,” Jesy said, adding that without it, her girls would not survive. Thankfully, the twins have now received treatment, something Jesy described as lifesaving.

While there is currently no cure for SMA, new treatments can significantly slow or stop the disease if given early enough. Campaigners, including SMA UK, are pushing for routine newborn screening across the UK, arguing that many diagnoses come too late. Scotland is set to begin a pilot screening programme in 2026.

Jesy admitted the past months have been the most heartbreaking of her life, saying the hospital has become her second home. Despite her pain, she remains hopeful, telling fans she truly believes her girls can defy the odds with the right help.

Support has poured in from fellow celebrities, including Jesy’s ex-partner Chris Hughes, who called her “a warrior” and urged her to be kind to herself. Zion also shared a message of hope, posting a photo of the twins and saying they were “smiling through the challenges,” adding simply: “Daddy loves you so much.”

The devastating news comes after Jesy previously revealed she had filmed a deeply personal documentary series about her pregnancy and early motherhood for Amazon Prime, documenting what she called a new chapter in her life.

“Heartbreak After the Chaos”: Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle Hit With Shattering Cancer Scare That Leaves Fans Reeling

Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle faces devastating blow after Corriedale chaos

    Our hearts are broken

There was no shortage of jaw-dropping moments in Corriedale, but one scene in particular left Emmerdale fans reeling as Cain Dingle was told he may have cancer.

Amid the explosions, fear and fatalities as Emmerdale and Coronation Street crossed over for the first time, it was Cain’s quiet hospital moment that truly stopped viewers in their tracks.

While the major crash dominated events, Cain didn’t end up in hospital because of the wreck itself. Instead, his fate took a heartbreaking turn after a confrontation with his son’s killer, John Sugden, which ended in violence and an unexpected medical revelation.

What happened to Cain in Corriedale?

Cain had been doing something entirely ordinary, taking Sarah and Jacob to the airport, when they stumbled across the aftermath of the crash. Realising Mack and Charity’s car had left the road, they rushed to help, with Cain immediately throwing himself into the chaos.

As the situation unfolded, Robert Sugden warned Cain that John was still at large. True to form, Cain refused to stay out of it. But when Robert and John struggled over a gun, it discharged, leaving Cain shot. In a cruel twist of fate, that gunshot may have saved his life.

Later, viewers watched as a doctor explained that while Cain’s injuries would heal, tests had revealed a mass that strongly suggested cancer. The moment the camera revealed Cain as the patient, with Moira by his side, was quietly devastating.

John had always wanted to be seen as a hero, and in a grimly ironic way, his final actions before Victoria killed him did just that. Without the shooting, Cain may never have discovered what was going on inside his body. The weight given to that hospital conversation strongly hints that this storyline is only just beginning, with major implications heading into 2026.

    Cain Dingle’s Emmerdale future explored

At present, there’s no confirmation that Cain Dingle is leaving Emmerdale. Neither the soap nor Jeff Hordley has announced an exit, despite ongoing speculation about Cain’s long-term future.

Importantly, Cain was told that his diagnosis isn’t necessarily a “death sentence”. That suggests a tough road ahead rather than an immediate goodbye. And leaves the door open for him to fight his way through.

That said, with so many departures across both Emmerdale and Corrie, it’s hard not to wonder whether this could eventually lead to Cain’s exit. The very idea is heartbreaking for long-time viewers.

Whatever direction the storyline takes – and however long it runs – one thing feels certain. Jeff Hordley will deliver every emotional beat with absolute conviction.

With Moira by his side, Cain won’t face this alone, and fans will be bracing themselves for some powerful scenes ahead. Let’s just hope 2026 doesn’t mark the end of Cain Dingle, because Emmerdale wouldn’t feel the same without him.
