Even though the greatest player of his generation and arguably of all time, LeBron James does not get that same controversy. Moreover, there have been times when even former teammates of his went against the notion of players fearing LeBron. But, one of the key role players on those historic Miami Heat teams believes his call out of James was valid, albeit with the wrong words.

Mario Chalmers, who had previously claimed that players did not fear the 4x NBA Champion, was ready to explain what he meant. “When I said it, right, I was basically saying that the player that we went against didn’t fear Bron like the Danny Grangers, the Luol Dengs, the Jimmy Butlers. The people that we were seeing in the playoffs, they didn’t fear LeBron.”

 

However, he does believe the perception around the 4x NBA MVP had a lot to do with it. “Because the media was Killing Bron that year he came to Miami…I was close as hell to Bron. So, when he’s going to work out, he’s calling me like, ‘Rio, come on. let’s go work out.’” 

During those workouts, Chalmers came to see that the conversation made LeBron try out some new things to alter his approach and appease the haters. As a result, his improved arsenal led to the next season’s dominant run as teams were unable to see how much he had altered his approach.

Then, he would correct his earlier stance after former teammate Mike Miller challenged him with, “I don’t care what anyone says, all the motherf***ers you named were uncomfortable going into Game 1 or going into Game 2. They’re uncomfortable guarding that s**t.” 

 

Those workouts brought a change in James and for Mario changed the narrative. “We can all agree from that Dallas series to that next year, Bron was a whole different animal.” That is when the fear set in. But, the point guard wasn’t done yet.

Instead, he would go on to clear the air about his earlier comments regarding the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

LeBron James shared an emotional moment with his mother, Gloria, while watching his son, Bronny, play for USC Basketball on Saturday.

The 39-year-old Los Angeles Lakers star took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the heartfelt moment with his 52.8 million followers on the social network.

LeBron wrote, “Crazy man! My mom sitting right next to me just said ‘You know how amazing this is!? Sitting here with my son while watching my grandson on TV. I feel so present and blessed.’ “

Bronny, 19, scored seven points, four rebounds and five assists in USC’s loss to Arizona State on Saturday.

The Trojans’ record currently sits at 8 wins and 11 losses, tying UCLA’s Bruins, who will travel from Westwood to Downtown LA for a battle of Los Angeles on Jan. 27. USC currently holds the 11th spot in the Pac-12 division.

Following the Lakers’ 127-110 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, LeBron quickly darted through the tunnel at Crypto.com Arena and told Lauren Jones of The Sporting Tribune, “I have to go catch my son’s game real quick.”

Despite Bronny and USC’s loss to the Arizona Wildcats in that game, Bronny posted 11 points, six assists, and a block on Wednesday.

The USC freshman missed the first eight games of the current college basketball season while he waited for doctors to clear him to play following a cardiac arrest in July.

He was later diagnosed with “an anatomically and functionally significant congenital heart defect” and underwent surgery to correct the issue.

When he made his USC debut in December, Bronny entered the matchup against Long Beach State about 13 minutes in, drawing cheers from the crowd as he made his way onto the court at the Galen Center.

A video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) by the USC men’s basketball team’s official account showed LeBron recording the moment from the stands on his phone.

Following his debut with the Trojans, Bronny took a moment to acknowledge the medical professionals who cared for him, as well as his coaches, teammates and his family for helping him in his journey back to the basketball court.

Travis Kelce is set to miss out on the Grammys altogether, meaning that he won’t be able to witness Taylor Swift potentially winning an award, due to a ‘strict Super Bowl schedule’ imposed by the Kansas City Chiefs.

 

According to TMZ, the 34-year-old tight-end will be arriving in Las Vegas the same weekend as the music industry’s biggest award ceremony, which is set to take place on Sunday at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles – home of the Lakers.

This also means that Kelce will no longer play in the Pro Bowl, also on Sunday in Orlando, Florida. Kansas City’s No. 87 received his ninth straight nomination since 2015 to play in what used to be called the NFL All-Star game.

Swift will now have to go solo on the red carpet this weekend as she is up for six awards at the Grammy’s.

The conflict in schedule between the pop star and her boyfriend is no indicator that there is any heat in between them. Last Sunday, Kelce confessed his love for Swift in Baltimore, as the Chiefs defeated the Ravens, 17-10, in the AFC Championship game.

Roosevelt declared it “a date which will live in infamy,” and Congress passed a declaration of war against Japan. The United States was officially a player in World War II. Did the United States provoke Japan on purpose?

On a similar theme, some government officials believe the United States knew exactly what it was doing as it got more and more belligerent in its talks with Japan. “Prior to December 7, it was evident even to me…that we were pushing Japan into a corner,” said Vice Admiral Frank Edmund Beatty Jr., who at the time of the attack was an aide to the Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox, in a 1958 issue of U.S. News and World Report. “I believed that it was the desire of President Roosevelt, and Prime Minister Churchill that we get into the war, as they felt the Allies could not win without us and all our efforts to cause the Germans to declare war on us failed; the conditions we imposed upon Japan—to get out of China, for example—were so severe that we knew the nation could not accept them. We were forcing her so severely that we could have known that she would react toward the United States.”

“So much the better” if Japan commits an act of war

A year before Pearl Harbor, Lieutenant Commander Arthur H. McCollum of the Office of Naval Intelligence submitted a memo to two Navy captains that outlined numerous actions the United States could take to provoke Japan to attack. The letter was made public in 1994. It included the line, “If by these means Japan could be led to commit an overt act of war, so much the better.” It’s still unclear if the memo ever reached FDR, or even if it reached the highest levels of Navy command. Still, the government followed all the recommendations that the memo made.

Did Japanese participants know the full extent of the attack?

The idea of a full-on surprise attack was controversial even among the ranks of the Japanese military. “When one of the lead dive bombers in the attack on Pearl Harbor, Zenji Abe, heard this story—that they had not given any notice beforehand and had attacked without warning—he was filled with shame and remorse,” Craig Nelson, historian and author of the book Pearl Harbor: From Infamy to Greatness, told the USO. “Abe arranges for a group of them to come to Pearl Harbor for the anniversary. And they show up and at first, nobody will have anything to do with them. But he keeps trying and trying, and finally, he meets a Marine bugler from West Virginia named Richard Fiske, who had survived Pearl Harbor and Iwo Jima. [Fiske] said that he had spent almost 50 years hating the Japanese, but they became friends. Was there a warning about the attack in the New Yorker magazine?

On November 21st, a series of ads appeared in the New Yorker magazine for a dice game called “The Deadly Double.” The headline was “Achtung, Warning, Alert!” (Achtung means danger in German). An image showed people in an air raid shelter playing dice. The dice in the photo were numbered 12 and 7. As a date, that’d be December 7th. “No dice has 12 and seven on them. The game never existed and the company that supposedly made it never existed,” Nelson told the USO. “Military intelligence investigated this, but everything led to a dead end. The person buying the ad space had brought the copy in person, paid in cash and no one knows what the real story is behind that creepy ad.”

Did FDR know about the attack?

It is largely acknowledged that FDR and other top officials expected a Japanese military action on December 6 or 7. Still, they didn’t know where it would occur, and most information suggested it’d take place in British, Dutch, or French possessions in Southeast Asia. Why weren’t the important ships in the harbor?

At the time of the Pearl Harbor attack, none of the three aircraft carriers assigned to the harbor were in port. Some conspiracy theorists say that’s because officials knew about the attack in advance and saved their most valuable ships from destruction. Two carriers were on missions to Wake and Midway Islands. Craig Nelson, the historian who wrote Pearl Harbor: From Infamy to Greatness, says one of the greatest pieces of misinformation about Pearl Harbor was how much damage was actually done. “Remember after 9/11, they had the pictures of people jumping off the towers, and how they made this effort to sort of scrub all that away?” he told TIME. “Something sort of similar happened with Pearl Harbor, where they tried not letting people know how devastating it was. Roosevelt announced that 300 people had died when it was 2,403.
