A waterfront mansion on one of New Zealand’s richest streets has sold for around $10 million, OneRoof can reveal.

The stunning five-bedroom house on Rawene Avenue, in Westmere, had been expected to sell for around its CV of $10.4m, and the listing agents indicated to OneRoof that the sale didn’t disappoint.

Ollie Wall, of Wall Real Estate, confirmed to OneRoof that the sale went unconditional on July 5, but declined to reveal details of the buyer.

“There was a lot of interest in the property. There is a drought of good quality homes. All of a sudden there are tonnes of buyers but nothing for sale in that upper price bracket,” he said.

 

“I can see why people are holding off listing at that level, they think they’ll make more money later. But the fact is that supply is so low that they’re getting good prices now.”

Wall said that while waterfront was special and commanded a higher price, buyers were just looking for quality homes in good areas.

At the time it went on the market, Wall noted that the Rawene Ave property was the only big family house for sale on the waterfront at the moment. The one other recent sale on the street, for a renovated three-bedroom house on a 720sqm non-waterfront site, was in March for just over its CV of $4.8m.

The neighbourhood is home to a clutch of rich-listers and celebrities, and boasts several trophy homes that have sold for big sums, including the waterfront pad bought by former All Black Ali Williams and billionaire ZURU Toys owner Anna Mowbray for $24m from Shrek director Andrew Adamson.

Tech start-up entrepreneur Sharon Hunter and former Tauranga mayor Tenby Powell sold their striking modern waterfront home for $17.68m. It made headlines when it was rented by Hollywood action star Jason Statham and his partner, model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, while he was filming the shark thriller The Meg in Auckland.

The waterfront property has also been substantially renovated since the owners bought it 12 years ago for $4.4m, extending the house out towards the sea, adding an infinity pool and steps down to the flat land on the water where they upgraded the boatshed. There is also a two-bedroom apartment over the double garage to make a family compound of 542sqm of house on the large 1176 sqm section.

Wall said that $8m-plus buyers had started to re-appear in June after a very quiet March to May period.

“Most people are pretty clued up, they’ve got their finger on the pulse. We saw everyone sit on their hands for a little while, but now the sentiment is we’ve seen the bottom and now is a good time to buy.”

OneRoof listings show just one other waterside property for sale in the tightly-held suburb, a new-build townhouse on 73 West End Road. One of a pair, the three-bedroom Ponting Fitzgerald-designed home has unobstructed views across Cox’s Bay and the upper harbour to the Chelsea Sugar Works building.

New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty agent Pene Milne, who is marketing the property with James Kelly, said the next door townhouse by the same developer has just sold for $4.5m.

“We’ve had steady interest, especially in the last two weeks, there are more people showing up at open homes,” she said.

“This property appeals to people downsizing from the family homes in Herne Bay or Ponsonby or Westmere, wanting something brand-new and lock-up-and-leave. We’re also getting a lot of enquiry from overseas from people drawn to water views and walkability to the Westmere and Jervois Road villages.”

Selena Gomez Reveals She Contemplated Suicide & May Never Be Able To Have Children While Speaking On The Negative Impacts Of Her Bipolar Diagnosis

TV and film star Selena Gomez is getting candid about the realities of her long-term mental health situation.

During a recent interview, the 30-year-old entertainer shared how a 2018 mental breakdown left her taking several heavy medications. Selena Gomez said following the episode, she was officially diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The singer continued on to explain how the situation made her feel that she didn’t want to live anymore.

Speaking on the psychosis break prior to the official diagnosis, Gomez stated:
“I think when I started hitting my early twenties is when it started to get really dark, when I started to feel like I was not in control of what I was feeling, whether that was really great or really bad.”

She continued:
“It would start with depression, then it would go into isolation….Then it just was me not being able to move from my bed. I didn’t want anyone to talk to me. My friends would bring me food because they love me, but none of us knew what it was.”
The “Only Murderers In The Building” star then explained how depressive episodes made it hard to function on a day-to-day basis, eventually evolving into suicidal thoughts. She stated:

“Sometimes it was weeks I’d be in bed, to where even walking downstairs would get me out of breath…..I thought the world would be better if I wasn’t there,” 

Gomez revealed during the interview that in an effort to get help, she eventually checked into four different mental institutions. The Grammy-nominated singer said she barely recalls the time in her life, as she was heavily medicated and often felt “gone” from herself.

After checking into a Massachusetts clinic – hailed as one of the best in the states – Gomez shared things began looking up. The singer credits her psychiatrist for officially diagnosing her as bipolar, who subsequently prescribed only two medications that helped manage her condition. During the interview, she touched on the health professional and diagnosis:
“He really guided me….But I had to detox, essentially, from the medications I was on. I had to learn how to remember certain words. I would forget where I was when we were talking. It took a lot of hard work for me to (a) accept that I was bipolar, but (b) learn how to deal with it because it wasn’t going to go away.”

 

While things have been better for the musician, Gomez also spoke on the downsides of the medication. The singer revealed she became emotional once visiting a friend with children, thinking about how difficult childbirth would be for her personally. Reportedly, bipolar medication comes with a slew of potentially harmful pregnancy side effects – including heart defects and developmental delay. However, Gomez noted that she is hopeful she’ll one day become a mother. She stated:
“That’s a very big, big, present thing in my life….However I’m meant to have them, I will.” 
Selena’s coming, documentary debuting on Apple TV this Friday (November 4th), will reportedly give further detail on living with bipolar disorder.

The “Peaches” singer first went public with his previous relationship with Selena Gomez in 2011. According to reports, the pair broke up and got back together a few times until finally calling it quits (for real) in 2018. Later that year Justin Bieber proposed to Hailey and they tied the knot at an N.Y.C. courthouse. The following year they celebrated their union with a ceremony in South Carolina.

 

During an interview last year, Hailey denied speculations that she’s the reason her husband and his ex broke up, clarifying there was never any crossover between their relationships. However, even with her denying the accusations, many fans of Selena still blame the model for the “Jelena” romance coming to an end and often send her hate online.

Unfortunately, it seems that those hate comments have entered into a whole other level of scary and Hailey is now receiving death threats from Selena’s fanbase. Earlier today (Mar. 24) the former Disney star shared a statement via her IG stories and let her Selenators know that “hateful negativity” is something she won’t stand for. She wrote,

“Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity.”
The post continued,
“This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.”

As mentioned above, Selena and Hailey have never confirmed there’s an issue between them. However, internet users frequently share theories of ways the two have been shady towards one another. Selena Gomez is convinced that her ex-boyfriend The Weeknd is using her “real-life pain for entertainment” in his controversial HBO show “The Idol.”

A source close to Selena recently shared that she is bothered by the eerie comparisons that can seemingly be drawn between her life and that of Lily-Rose Depp’s character Jocelyn.

“The similarities between Selena’s life and Jocelyn’s life are just uncanny. Being [that] she actually dated The Weeknd, it is even more creepy for her. Her real-life pain was used for entertainment value and that really irks her out.”

“Everyone in her team who has known her for a very long time is dumbfounded by this, but at the end of the day Selena is going to do what she always does – rise above and move on.”

“The Idol” focuses on an aspiring pop star named Jocelyn and her complex relationship with Tedros, a self-help guru and cult leader, played by The Weeknd.

Apparently, there are some glaring similarities between Selena and the character Jocelyn. For starters, the show centers around Jocelyn’s personal struggles and mental breakdown that she faces, which is similar to Selena Gomez and the mental health struggles she previously dealt with.

Another similarity, both Selena and Jocelyn rose to the top of their singing career as childhood actors. Selena and the fictional character also have similar mannerisms, one of them being blowing kisses, which Selena has been photographed doing dozens of times throughout her career.

While some would say those are subtle comparisons, there are also some eerie similarities between the two.

In 2015, Selena faced backlash after she decided to go topless for the cover of her album “Revival.” When asked about it in a radio interview, she said,

“I am not going to let them get to me.”

In the show’s premiere episode, Jocelyn also did a topless album cover and told her management team that,

Justin Bieber‘s relationship with Hailey Baldwin, the daughter of Stephen Baldwin, was announced shortly after, and things moved quickly for the two. After a month, they were engaged and in September 2018, married.

Selena Gomez said,
“I had just gotten my heart broken. I didn’t need to see what everyone was doing.”
She added,
“Then there were those moments of not feeling positive about how I looked because of what I’d see on Instagram. Wow, I wish my body looked like that.”

The Wizards of Waverly Place star discussed how it was challenging to deal with physical changes as she grew out of her “teenage body.” She added,
“None of the sample sizes fit, and I would feel ashamed about that. But how irrational is it to think a normal woman’s body won’t change?”
Selena Gomez — who has been romantically linked to Zedd, Charlie Puth and The Weeknd in the years after — was also dealing with the effects of having bipolar disorder in the same year she and Justin Bieber split. In 2020, she disclosed her mental illness during Miley Cyrus‘ Instagram live show Bright Minded.

Gomez said,
“I grew up being a people pleaser. I had a responsibility at a very young age – young people were looking up to me. I didn’t know who I was. Having that responsibility would make me walk on eggshells a lot.”

She added,
“I thought maybe it would be damaging to tell people who I am. It started to become a threat that freaked me out. Well, if you’re not right, then you can’t work.”
As previously reported, the Only Murders in the Building star shared earlier this year that she took an IG break because she was frustrated with receiving hurtful comments comparing her to an ex-boyfriend’s current partner, presumably Hailey Baldwin.  

Gomez explained,
“I never got the chance to go to an actual high school. The world was my high school for the longest time, and I started getting inundated with information that I didn’t want. I went through a hard time in a breakup and I didn’t want to see any of the [feedback]—not necessarily about the relationship, but the opinions of me versus [someone] else.”

She continued,

“People can call me ugly or stupid and I’m like, Whatever. But these people get detailed. They write paragraphs that are so specific and mean. I would constantly be crying. I constantly had anxiety…I couldn’t do it anymore. It was a waste of my time.”
At the time, Gomez revealed that TikTok was the only social media platform that she had on her phone, saying she found it to be less hostile. She added,
“There are wonderful things about social media—connecting with fans, seeing how happy and excited they are and their stories. But usually that’s filtered through [for me now]. I created a system. Everything I do I send to my assistant who posts them. As far as comments, my team will put together a few things that are encouraging.”
