Winkleman’s son, 22-year-old Jake Thykier, finally reveals the real reason she walked away from Strictly Come Dancing

After years of lighting up Saturday nights with her trademark wit and sparkle, Claudia Winkleman’s sudden exit from Strictly Come Dancing has left fans reeling — and insiders whispering about what really happened behind the cameras.

However, one person that was likely nothing less than thrilled by the news, is Claudia’s son Jake Thykier (seen with dad Kris Thykier earlier this month)

The Traitors host, 53, has long made it known that the 22-year-old is not a Strictly fan, with him frequently pleading with her to quit hosting the show

Claudia and her long-time co-host Tess Daly’s emotional joint announcement sent shockwaves through the BBC and beyond, with fans and fellow stars flooding social media in disbelief. But now, new revelations suggest the decision may not have been entirely Claudia’s to make.

According to insiders, a two-page ultimatum letter was quietly delivered to both presenters — urging them to “step aside and make room for a younger team.”

Claudia began hosting Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, the year after Jake was born, moving to presenting the results show in 2010 and finally landing the plummy co-host gig with Tess on the main show in 2014, following Bruce Forsyth’s departure

Yet, one person who didn’t seem upset by the news was Claudia’s son, Jake Thykier, 22, who has reportedly begged her for years to walk away from the “embarrassing” show.

“For years, I wanted her to leave… to find something better,” Jake admitted. “But she loved Strictly like it was her baby — her greatest creation.”

A Farewell Years in the Making

And his feelings towards the show didn’t improve as he got older, with Claudia revealing that Jake doubled down with his pleas after it became a topic of conversation at his school (seen with Kris in 2021)

Claudia’s journey began in 2004, when Jake was just a baby. She first hosted It Takes Two, moved to the results show in 2010, and eventually joined Tess Daly as co-host in 2014 after Bruce Forsyth’s departure.

For two decades, Strictly became her second family. She often said she’d “never leave without Tess.” But behind the glitter and glamour, BBC bosses were reportedly pushing for “fresh faces” and a more youthful direction.

An insider told Daily Mail: “They didn’t deserve her loyalty after all these years. The decision had been made long before the public announcement.”

    The Breaking Point

But, Jake very nearly succeeded in making his wish come true, as Claudia revealed she once came very close to leaving Strictly four years ago, due to him heading off to university But, Jake very nearly succeeded in making his wish come true, as Claudia revealed she once came very close to leaving Strictly four years ago, due to him heading off to university

When the letter arrived, sources say Claudia was “devastated.” “She felt blindsided,” one insider shared. “That show meant everything to her. She called it her ‘fourth child.’”

And he appears to have inherited a strong work ethic from his successful parents, working as a bartender and membership representative for international private members’ club, Soho House, for stints in both Oxford and Mexico

Her son’s feelings didn’t help either. As Jake got older, he found his mum’s TV role increasingly embarrassing — especially when it became a talking point among his schoolmates.

“She didn’t leave because she wanted to,” said one close friend. “She left because she had no choice.”

Claudia reportedly came close to quitting four years ago, when Jake left for university. “She felt torn between her family and the show,” said another source. “This time, the decision was made for her.”

    Fans in Tears

When Claudia and Tess tearfully announced their departure in a heartfelt Instagram video last week, fans were stunned.

“It’s the end of an era,” one viewer wrote. “They are Strictly.”

Another added: “The show will never be the same — Claudia’s warmth made it magic.”

Meanwhile, Jake seems to be following his parents’ strong work ethic, having worked at Soho House in both Oxford and Mexico as a bartender and membership representative.

    A Silent Goodbye

Claudia and Tess – who has hosted the series since its inception in 2004 – agreed to quit Strictly nearly a year ago after a series of heart-to-heart chats Claudia and Tess – who has hosted the series since its inception in 2004 – agreed to quit Strictly nearly a year ago after a series of heart-to-heart chats

Behind the scenes, both presenters had quietly agreed to step down nearly a year ago after several emotional conversations.

In their farewell message, Claudia and Tess thanked fans for “21 wonderful years,” writing: “We’ll cry when we say the last ‘keep dancing’… but we’ll always say it to each other — even at home, in tracksuits, with pizza.”

But behind that smile was heartbreak — and a story of loyalty, pressure, and a mother’s love.

As one insider put it: “They didn’t just lose two hosts. They lost the soul of Strictly.”

Ellie Goldstein has shared a ‘cheeky’ update alongside Vito Coppola as their partnership continues following their Strictly Come Dancing exit.

Fans of the hit dance show were gutted to see the joyful duo, known as the ‘Cheeky Team’, become the fifth couple to leave the BBC One dance contest at the weekend.

During Saturday night’s (November 1) Halloween special, they performed the tango to Lady Gaga’s Abracadabra in a magic-themed performance, which saw the model and actress pulling her dance partner, dressed as a bunny, out of a hat.

But their Hallowen treat turned into a trick, as they were then seen landing in their first dance-off during Sunday’s (November 2) results show, with the pair having to fight for their place in the competition against actress Balvinder Sopal and dancer Julian Caillon.

After both performances, the judges delivered a unanimous verdict. Anton du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse all opted to save Balvinder and Julian, sealing Ellie and Vito’s departure from the show.

After the news was confirmed, Vito spoke movingly about being partnered with Ellie and made a vow to ‘keep dancing’. And that was proven just days after their last show.

Taking to Instagram, Ellie shared a picture of herself and Vito beaming as they gave each other high-fives back in the training room. Alongside the post, the 23-year-old wrote: “What a great day spending it with my @vitocoppola. Never stop dancing!”

Vito then reshared the post to his own Instagram Story and gushed: “Your big brother loves you so much,” before adding a heart GIF.

The pair were then seen on Tuesday (November 4) heading out for lunch together. Ellie shared a picture of them both, snuggled in close to one another as they smiled for the camera.

With their meals in front of them waiting to be tucked into, Ellie penned on her Instagram Story: “Cheeky @nandosuk for the Cheeky Team.”

Her new pal then reshared the post to his own Instagram Story, adding: “Your big brother is always by your side,” before adding: “Let’s have a cheeky lunch.”

  • Ruth Langsford’s NEW LOVE Revealed — and It’s Her FIRST KISS from 49 Years Ago.

Ruth Langsford’s NEW LOVE Revealed — and It’s Her FIRST KISS from 49 Years Ago.

After months of whispers, Loose Women star Ruth Langsford has finally confirmed what fans have long suspected — she’s in love again.  And in a twist straight out of a romantic film, the man who’s stolen her heart is none other than her first loveColm O’Driscoll, from her teenage years in Belfast.

The 65-year-old presenter melted hearts on Instagram when she posted a black-and-white photo of her and Colm holding hands on a windswept Cornish beach, captioned with a line that sent social media into a frenzy:

“Sometimes life brings you full circle. Colm was my first kiss at 16. Forty-nine years later, he’s my future. ”

Within minutes, thousands flooded her comments with messages of joy, calling it “the love story we all needed.” But behind the scenes, the post reportedly left her ex-husband Eamonn Holmes “stunned and full of regret.”

     A Love Story Rewritten

Just days before the announcement, Ruth and Colm were spotted enjoying a quiet dinner at The Ivy Chelsea Garden, laughing and holding hands. Insiders reveal the couple reconnected by chance at a charity fundraiser in Surrey earlier this year — and that moment changed everything.

“He walked straight up to her and said, ‘Ruth McCullough, you haven’t changed a bit,’” a source told MailOnline. “She laughed until she cried. It was like time never passed.”

Colm, now 63, is a Belfast-born property developer and father of two, known for being “grounded, loyal, and quietly charming.” Friends say he’s “the kind of man who makes Ruth feel safe and cherished again.”

     Eamonn Holmes “Reeling With Regret”

Meanwhile, sources close to Eamonn — who split from Ruth in May 2024 after 27 years together — say the GB News host is struggling to come to terms with her new romance.

“Eamonn thought he’d moved on,” one insider confessed. “But Ruth’s post hit differently. It was so pure, so final. It shook him.”

Eamonn, who’s been publicly dating 42-year-old relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, was photographed looking subdued outside his Surrey home shortly after Ruth’s post went live.

     Fans Celebrate Ruth’s “Full-Circle Fairytale”

Ruth’s revelation sent social media into meltdown — with fans and celebrities alike cheering her happiness.

“YES RUTH! Live your best life, queen ,” one fan wrote.
“Eamonn fumbled the bag,” another joked.
“Colm looks at her like she hung the moon,” added a third.

Even co-star Coleen Nolan chimed in with a touching detail:

“Ruth’s son Jack calls Colm ‘the chill dad I never had.’ She’s glowing — I’ve never seen her this happy.”

The couple have since introduced their children — Ruth’s son Jack (23) and Colm’s daughters Aoife (26) and Niamh (24) — who reportedly “get along beautifully.”

     From Heartbreak to Healing

Following her painful split from Eamonn, Ruth quietly focused on herself — building her QVC fashion line, walking her beloved dog Maggie, and rediscovering joy in small things.

    But fate had other plans.

A school friend revealed that Ruth and Colm once sneaked into the Belfast Odeon to watch Grease as teenagers. “He kept her old cinema ticket for forty years,” the friend said. “When he showed it to her again this summer, she burst into tears.”

Since rekindling their romance, the pair have enjoyed low-key getaways — including a serene trip to Donegal — vowing to take things “slow and steady.”

“We’ve both done the big white wedding,” Ruth told Hello! magazine. “This time, it’s about laughter, companionship, and waking up without dread.”

     “I’m Not Fixed — I’m Free.”

Ruth ended her emotional post with a message that resonated deeply across the internet:

“To everyone who sent love when I was broken — thank you. I’m not fixed… I’m free.”

Her follower count skyrocketed by 40,000 overnight, as fans rallied behind her story of rediscovery and strength.

And while Eamonn remains quiet, reportedly “processing the shock,” Ruth Langsford is walking into a new chapter — one that began nearly half a century ago, with a shy teenage kiss that never truly ended.

Britons hɑve been filming themselves trɑvelling to beɑches in Frɑnce ɑnd ‘destroying’ smɑll boɑts – gɑining thousɑnds of views in the process

British vigilɑntes who speɑrheɑded efforts to fly Englɑnd flɑgs ɑcross the country hɑve lɑunched ɑ new ɑnti-migrɑnt protest – ɑttempting to block illegɑl Chɑnnel crossings.

Using the term “Operɑtion Stop The Boɑts”, members of the group hɑve been filming themselves slɑshing smɑll boɑts before they ɑre used by migrɑnts to cross the English Chɑnnel from Frɑnce.

Clɑiming to be recording from the northern French coɑst, one sɑid: “Just like in the 1940s, we must tɑke ɑ stɑnd, ɑnd it stɑrts with the men of Englɑnd ɑnd Britɑin.”

Mɑking ɑn ɑppeɑl to “firms” – ɑ phrɑse thɑt refers to footbɑll hooligɑn groups – the other mɑn ɑdded: “Our country is doing nothing. Weɑk government, weɑker borders.

“They ɑre doing nothing, so we need to mɑke ɑ stɑnd, boys. Get the lɑds together, get your firms together, get the lɑds in the pub, get the lɑds down the bɑrs, if you’re tɑlking ɑbout it ɑnd you ɑgree with whɑt we ɑre doing, give us ɑ hɑnd.”

On Mondɑy, Home Secretɑry Shɑbɑnɑ Mɑhmood set out ɑ pɑckɑge of reforms to ɑsylum policies ɑimed ɑt tɑckling illegɑl migrɑtion, telling MPs the current situɑtion is “out of control ɑnd unfɑir”.

The lɑtest videos shɑred by those linked to the Rɑise the Colours group hɑve sepɑrɑtely been referred to ɑs “Operɑtion Overlord”.

Sepɑrɑtely, French mediɑ reports thɑt the Dunkirk Public Prosecutor’s office hɑs opened ɑ preliminɑry investigɑtion into “ɑggrɑvɑted violence” ɑgɑinst migrɑnts by suspected British fɑr-right figures.

One of the detɑils being exɑmined by the French prosecutor is the clɑim thɑt in September, four men wɑving British ɑnd UK flɑgs verbɑlly ɑnd physicɑlly ɑttɑcked migrɑnts on the French coɑst. It is ɑlleged thɑt they told the migrɑnts they were not welcome in Englɑnd ɑnd proceeded to steɑl some of their belongings.

The men ɑre not the first ɑnti-migrɑnt figures to trɑvel to Frɑnce in ɑ bid to tɑke mɑtters into their own hɑnds.

  • Coronation Street fans are buzzing as Kevin Webster’s surprising new love interest is finally unveiled

Coronation Street fans are buzzing as Kevin Webster’s surprising new love interest is finally unveiled

Coronation Street Kevin Webster’s new romance ‘unveiled’ and fans are delighted

Coronation Street fans believe they’ve worked out Kevin Webster’s new romance, and they are delighted.

ITV soap viewers will know that Abi (Sally Carman) had an affair with Kevin’s (Michael Le Vell) younger brother, Carl (Jonathan Howard).

After months of keeping their romance a secret, Kevin soon learned about the affair when Abi accidentally sent him a text that was meant for Carl.

The message exposed their infidelity to the family, leading to an explosive argument, which ended with Kevin ordering Abi to leave his life.

Abi and her young son Alfie (Carter and Oakley Razak Townsend) soon moved in with Roy Cropper (David Neilson) above the café, with Kevin left struggling to cope at number 13, reports the Liverpool Echo.

On Monday (November 10), it was revealed that Abi had managed to rent Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) old flat.

She began organising her belongings, with several locals commenting on how odd it was that Carl wasn’t around to help her.

While calling round to see his friend Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall), Kevin spoke about his split from Abi, saying: “I’m just trying to get through it, aren’t I? It’s just a bit of a struggle. I still care for her… Yes, I know I must be daft, but I can’t help it.”

Now, several Corrie fans are convinced that Kevin might form a new romantic connection with Rovers barmaid Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger).

Kevin notably tried to kiss Glenda shortly after learning about Abi’s affair, which led to Glenda asking his sister Debbie (Sue Devaney) to check on him.

Glenda has since cleared the air with Kevin, and looks out for him whenever he goes to the Rovers.

“We have seen how close Glenda’s friendship with Debbie Webster has developed over the months. Glenda deserves a decent love interest. Kevin’s messed up attempt to kiss Glenda was cringey. Given time could Glenda be what Kevin needs? A good, loyal woman,” one person wrote on a Facebook fan page.

“There’s isn’t much choice on the Street for Glenda. Could Kevin be a potential love interest?”

Another added: “Opposites attract… so it is said so who knows? The way soaps are going anything is possible. Hope Glenda finds love,” while a third said: “She’d be great for him after his last few disasters.”

A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: “I agree. Kevin needs to try something new. Most of the women Kevin has chosen has had their own baggage. In some cases he has taken on. Glenda doesn’t seem to be a bad match for him.”

  • “The Man Who Whispered to Otters at 3 A.M.” — Meet Hamza Yassin, the 35-Year-Old Ranger Who’s Just Become the New KING of Britain’s Nature TV

“The Man Who Whispered to Otters at 3 A.M.” — Meet Hamza Yassin, the 35-Year-Old Ranger Who’s Just Become the New KING of Britain’s Nature TV

Move over, every polished presenter who ever read a script about badgers: Britain has chosen its new natural-history heartbeat, and he’s a 6-foot-6 Sudanese-Scottish giant who learned to track lynx before he could drive, cries when otters hold hands, and once spent 42 straight nights sleeping in a hide just to film pine martens falling in love.

Last night, BBC One dropped the first trailer for Hamza’s Wild Britain (a six-part landmark series launching spring 2026), and within four hours it became the most-watched BBC trailer in a decade. The final 15 seconds alone have been viewed 28 million times: Hamza, knee-deep in a Highland river at dawn, whispering so gently the microphone barely catches it as a mother otter teaches her pup to swim literally inches from his face. No music. Just his soft Glasgow-Sudanese lilt: “Look… she’s telling him the water will hold him, if he trusts it. Same thing my mum told me when we arrived in Scotland and I couldn’t speak a word of English.”

    Cue national meltdown.

    The numbers are insane:

4.7 million pre-saved the series on iPlayer before a single episode aired.
#HamzaYassin trended above the general election results.
Children’s bookshops sold out of otter plush toys by 10 a.m. because “my kid says Hamza told them to love otters.”

But the real story isn’t the ratings; it’s the journey.

Hamza arrived in rural Northamptonshire from Sudan at age eight, speaking no English, clutching a bird book his father gave him “because birds don’t care what language you speak.” By twelve he was the weird kid cycling ten miles before school to photograph kingfishers. At sixteen he won Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year with a shot of a fox cub yawning that looked like it was laughing at the universe. University (Bangor, zoology) was just an excuse to live closer to puffins.

Then came the decade nobody saw: camera-operating on Planet Earth IIISpringwatch, and Countryfile, always the guy in the muddy boots who could lie motionless for 14 hours until a badger sniffed his lens and decided he was harmless. Crew nicknamed him “the Otter Whisperer” after he filmed the first-ever footage of wild otters playing with pebbles in the Cairngorms, entirely by becoming part of the furniture for six weeks.

His big break was accidental. In 2022 he entered Strictly Come Dancing “because my mum loves glitterballs and I thought it might pay for a new hide.” He won the whole thing with Jowita Przystał, foxtrotting like a man who’d spent his life learning rhythm from golden eagles soaring on thermals. Overnight, eight million people discovered the gentle giant who spoke about conservation between sambas.

The BBC pounced. First Hamza: Wild Isles (2024), then the Emmy-nominated Hamza’s Sudan (2025), where he returned to his birthplace to film the last northern white rhinos under the same stars he watched as a child. Critics called it “the most emotional hour of television this decade.” Viewers just called it “life-changing.”

Now Hamza’s Wild Britain is being billed as the spiritual successor to Attenborough’s Life on Earth. Shot entirely by Hamza himself (he still refuses a full camera crew because “animals don’t like strangers”), it promises never-before-seen behaviour: red squirrels teaching their young to tightrope-walk power lines, urban foxes using pedestrian crossings at night, golden eagles hunting in snowstorms so violent Hamza had to be roped to a cliff for three days.

The trailer’s money shot? Hamza lying flat on his stomach in a peat bog at 4 a.m., face inches from a wild mountain hare in its white winter  coat. The hare slowly reaches out and touches his beard with its paw. Hamza doesn’t move, doesn’t breathe. When the hare eventually hops away, he whispers to camera, voice cracking: “Sometimes the wild decides you’re worth trusting. That’s the best feeling in the world.”

Sir David himself has already given the ultimate blessing. In a rare statement, the 99-year-old legend said: “Hamza sees the natural world the way poets see love: with wonder that never ages. The baton isn’t being passed; it’s being shared.”

Social media is flooded with kids posting drawings of otters wearing glittery bow ties “for Uncle Hamza.” Primary schools are reporting record numbers of children wanting to become “rangers instead of YouTubers.” The RSPB’s junior membership has tripled in six months.

Hamza, being Hamza, responded to the “new Attenborough” hype with typical humility on Instagram last night: a simple photo of his muddy wellies next to a child’s drawing of an otter holding a glitterball, captioned, “I’m just the tall idiot who talks to animals. Thank you for letting me into your living rooms. I’ll try to make the planet prouder than I am right now.”

Britain has a new voice for its wild places, and it sounds like hope wrapped in a Highland breeze. Spring 2026 can’t come soon enough.

Earlier this year, the couple shared they were expecting their second child — a baby boy. And last month, Krystal and Miles announced baby Rowan had finally arrived after some unexpected complications during birth.

Recently, Krystal told her birth story for the first time and stated it was “the most traumatic experience” she’s ever endured.

While answering some fan questions on her Instagram Story, Krystal opened up about her healing process and what has been most helpful.

One follower asked if she will need a hysterectomy, and Krystal revealed, “I am so grateful that they were able to save my uterus and I did not need a hysterectomy 🙏So far there are no complications with my healing so continuing to pray all will be well.”

Another person then asked about what it was like to have a C-section, and Krystal replied candidly.

“A planned v. emergency c-section are very different and I can only speak to my experience,” she wrote. “For me, it was extremely traumatizing due to the intensity of emotions, panic and speed at which things happened. It felt like I was being gutted like a fish (sorry but being honest) for 10 straight minutes. The recovery was really rough the first week but I’m feeling pretty great 3.5 weeks out. C-sections are a MAJOR surgery and learning how to move without my core has been a big transition. I will say I am so excited to get back to movement and begin my core rehabilitation!”

We are so glad Krystal and baby Rowan are back home, recovering well. We’re sending all our love as they continue their healing journey.

💥 Nigel Farage refuses to back down! During a fiery PMQs protest, Farage declared: “I WILL NOT be a punching bag!” 🔥💪 Tempers flared as he doubled down, refusing to be a political target and hitting back with unrelenting passion. ⚡👀 The battle for respect and influence in Westminster rages on — who will blink first? 😱

Nigel Farage has declared he will “not be a punching bag for the leaders of other parties” as he doubled down on his decision to boycott Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs).

Speaking to GB News, the Reform UK leader said he has been given “no chance to respond” to frequent PMQs jibes by Sir Keir Starmer and the like.

During Wednesday’s session, the leader of Reform chose to witness PMQs from the public gallery and said he will “continue to do so” until he is called to stand.

Outlining his decision, Mr Farage told GB News: “This Parliament is the most unrepresentative of where politics in the country is today, and the arguments are today in the history of Parliament.

Nigel Farage has hit out at Keir Starmer as he defended his protest against PMQs|GB NEWS

“So I have to sit through PMQs every week, I’ve got Ed Davey having a go at the member for Clacton, the Prime Minister accusing me of God knows what, and very often, four or five mentions.

“And it doesn’t matter what we do, Richard Tice bobs up and down to try and speak, I’ve tried bobbing up and down, we don’t get called.”

He stated: “I’m not going to sit there and have criticism coming from the PM and everybody else, and not have a chance to respond.

“I’m treated like I’m a spectator, so in future I’ll view it from the spectator’s gallery.”

Weighing in on Mr Farage’s decision to protest, GB News Senior Political Commentator Nigel Nelson argued that it is his “duty” as party leader to remain in the Chamber.

Nigel explained: “I take your point, however, I do think Nigel, as a party leader, part of that duty should be to be in the Chamber of the House of Commons, not sitting up on up in the gallery.

“If the Speaker were to call you, he couldn’t call you from up in the gallery.”

Mr Farage interjected, stating: “He could, actually. The last time it happened was 1953.”

As Nigel continued to argue that the Chamber is the “right place” for Mr Farage to be, the Reform leader hit back: “I’m not going to be a punch bag for the leaders of the other parties with no chance to respond. Period. I’m on strike from PMQs in the Chamber.”

Offering his verdict on the protest, GB News presenter Christopher Hope argued that even if he asked the Speaker to “call him more often”, he may receive “complaints from the Greens, the Lib Dems and the Independents”.

Mr Farage told Christopher: “That they are not attacked. The point about parliamentary debate is people can say what they like, but you must get the chance to respond.

“I can make a point of order at the end, but that’s not the same thing, and they are not attacked by the Prime Minister every single week.”

British vigilantes who spearheaded efforts to fly England flags across the country have launched a new anti-migrant protest – attempting to block illegal Channel crossings.

Using the term “Operation Stop The Boats”, members of the group have been filming themselves slashing small boats before they are used by migrants to cross the English Channel from France.

Posts on social media show members calling for other British men to join them in France, including making a direct appeal to football hooligans, saying “we need to make a stand”.

In one video message shared this week by a member of the Raise the Colours group – the grassroots movement that has seen flags fixed to lampposts, motorway bridges and roundabouts across England – two men are seen evoking military language and the spirit of the British fight against the Nazis in the Second World War.

Claiming to be recording from the northern French coast, one said: “Just like in the 1940s, we must take a stand, and it starts with the men of England and Britain.”

Making an appeal to “firms” – a phrase that refers to football hooligan groups – the other man added: “Our country is doing nothing. Weak government, weaker borders.

“They are doing nothing, so we need to make a stand, boys. Get the lads together, get your firms together, get the lads in the pub, get the lads down the bars, if you’re talking about it and you agree with what we are doing, give us a hand.”

The Government is under pressure to tackle the issue of migration amid a record number of asylum applications, surging small boat crossings and protests at hotels housing asylum seekers.

On Monday, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood set out a package of reforms to asylum policies aimed at tackling illegal migration, telling MPs the current situation is “out of control and unfair”.

The latest videos shared by those linked to the Raise the Colours group have separately been referred to as “Operation Overlord”.

Earlier clips showed two men saying they were taking matters of illegal migration into their own hands and filming themselves stamping on and smashing a small boat’s engine.

In the clips, they refer to themselves as “patriots” and make a number of claims without evidence, such as that they are stopping “rapists and murderers” from “coming to a town near you”.

The flag-raising group, who have a combined 100,000 followers on X and Instagram, also posted a plea on X for donations last week, writing that they are: “STOPPING The Boats, whether the migrants or government like it or not!”

Two videos from the group have recently been shared to the 1.7 million X followers of Tommy Robinson. The far-right figure and former leader of the English Defence League, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, has previously been accused of mobilising football hooligan firms in an attempt to launch anti-Muslim rallies across the country.

Separately, French media reports that the Dunkirk Public Prosecutor’s office has opened a preliminary investigation into “aggravated violence” against migrants by suspected British far-right figures.

One of the details being examined by the French prosecutor is the claim that in September, four men waving British and UK flags verbally and physically attacked migrants on the French coast. It is alleged that they told the migrants they were not welcome in England and proceeded to steal some of their belongings.

The men are not the first anti-migrant figures to travel to France in a bid to take matters into their own hands.

In September, Ukip, Nigel Farage’s former political party, posted a video to their X account showing what appeared to be sleeping migrants in France being woken by people flashing strobe lights in their faces and shouting at them.

Nick Tenconi, Ukip’s current leader, also posted a video captioned: “In Calais hunting for illegal invaders trying to cross into Britain.”
