Kate Middleton likely felt a twinge of “nervousness” at the Trooping the Colour, yet was “happy” to return to public engagements she’s dearly missed during her cancer treatment.

This insight comes from ex-Royal butler and commentator Grant Harrold, who hinted that Kate may have been apprehensive about her first public outing since the news of her cancer struggle broke. The 42-year-old Princess made a striking impression as she arrived by car with Prince William and their children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

For this significant comeback to Royal responsibilities, Kate donned an exquisite Jenny Packham dress, paired with a Philip Treacy hat and adorned with the Irish Guards Regimental Brooch, denoting her role as the regiment’s Colonel.

Mr Harrold remarked: “Kate will be happy to be back in the public eye. She’s always taken her Royal duties very seriously and she carries them out with such confidence too. I’m sure she’s been wanting to engage with the public and fulfil her duties, so the thought of getting back out there today, she’ll no doubt be pleased about.”

“It’s certainly a big moment for her, and her family, and there’s bound to be an element of nervousness felt among them all – Kate especially. I do think as pleased as she’ll be to be back out there, she’ll also be feeling cautious too. Hopefully, there won’t be any setbacks and it’s great to see her doing her first public outing. The reception she’s had from the public and the crowds gathered has been amazing, seeing her alongside the Royals again clearly means a lot to the public and knowing Kate, it will mean a lot to her too.”, reports the Mirror.

Grant Harrold noted that King Charles appeared to show signs of “disappointment”, despite being warmly received by the public. The King, who was diagnosed with cancer in February, opted not to participate on horseback during the event, deviating from his long-standing tradition.

Grant commented on this decision, stating: “I think Charles will be slightly disappointed that he’s not on horseback as it’s something he’s always done over the years. We should mention that the Queen in 1986, when she was 60 years old, reverted from being on horseback to going in a carriage.”

“The King is now 75, so he’s considerably older than the Queen was when the change was made with her – whether this is a normal move and intentional because of his age is quite possible, but he’s very traditional.”

“Kings in the past were always on horseback, so I can imagine Charles would have wanted to follow suit – we may see him switch back to horseback as a result in the coming years, time will tell. Charles won’t be feeling nervous for today’s events, he’s used to these types of events and he doesn’t ever really get nervous in these situations.”

Princess Kate says she is “making good progress” as she reveals she will be attending Trooping the Colour tomorrow despite her ongoing cancer battle.

In an incredibly open and honest message, the Princess of Wales revealed her innermost thoughts and fears that she’s “not out of the woods yet”.

Kate added that she has “good days and bad days” while she continues to undergo preventative chemotherapy, explaining that during the latter she is left “weak and tired”.

But when she is well enough she can focus on the things that give her joy, most notably her family and her work.

“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months,” she said. “On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”

The Princess adds that she has been “blown away” by the kind messages of support and encouragement that she has received since she revealed her cancer diagnosis in March.

“It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times,” she said.

A new image of Kate, taken earlier this week in the grounds of Windsor Castle, accompanied the royal’s deeply personal message.

Wearing a blazer, jeans and a plain T-shirt, the future Queen stands underneath a willow tree while looking up at the sky.

It is understood that the picture reflects that connecting with nature is something that continues to support her recovery.

Tomorrow will mark Kate’s first return to the public eye in almost six months, as she was last pictured heading to church on Christmas Day.

She will travel down the Mall with her three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, in a state carriage.

The future Queen will then watch the parade from the Major General’s Office with the rest of the Royal Family and is expected to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the RAF flypast.

She is understood to have spoken with the King personally to let him know that she would be accepting the invitation to Trooping, and he was “delighted” by the news.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “His Majesty is delighted that the Princess is able to attend tomorrow’s events, and is much looking forward to all elements of the day.”

Her attendance at Trooping the Colour should not be seen as a return to a full schedule of public engagements.

But she is keen to attend events over the course of the summer, as and when she feels able to, with the support and guidance of her medical team.

Again, any public events that she attends over the summer should not be seen as a return to a full schedule of public engagements.

    Princess Kate statement in full

I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.

I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.

My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.

I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.

I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.

Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.

  • Kate Middleton wears pearl earrings for moving reason during her cancer recovery

Kate Middleton wears pearl earrings for moving reason during her cancer recovery

Kate Middleton has been wearing pearl earrings for the past 10 years, but the royal’s choice of jewellery has a poignant hidden meaning amid her cancer battle

After a six-month hiatus from public life, Kate Middleton thrilled Royal fans worldwide on the eve of this year’s Trooping the Colour ceremony by providing a health update amidst her ongoing cancer fight.

The 42 year old Princess of Wales posted a statement on Instagram, informing followers that she was “making good progress” and included a stunning new photo of herself posing beneath a tree.

Clad in stylish tailored jeans, a smart blazer and t-shirt, Kate appeared to be in high spirits as she gazed into the distance, her hair tucked behind her ear to reveal a pair of simple Annoushka pearl earrings. These elegant and understated pearl drops are a staple in the Princess’ wardrobe and have been worn on numerous occasions since 2012.

Interestingly, for the Trooping the Colour ceremony the following day, when Kate joined her family on the Royal balcony to celebrate King Charles’ ‘official’ birthday, the fashion-forward Royal chose to wear another pair of pearl earrings – and for a very touching reason.

Throughout her tenure in the Royal family, Kate has often chosen accessories with subtle significance and hidden meanings, many of her favourite pieces designed to honour a specific cause, place or person.

In the case of Kate’s decision to wear pearls, it is likely that she chose them due to their historical connotations amid her ongoing health battle with an undisclosed form of cancer.

Kate Middleton, whose affinity for pearls mirrors the late Princess Diana’s, has been weaving this symbol of good fortune into her Royal accessories, surely seeking that stroke of luck as she rallies from her ailments.

The expert jewellery team at Marahlago, explained how pearls are treasured as emblems for transforming adversity into positive outcomes, reports the Mirror.

Renowned not just for elegance but also associated with love, wellness, and prosperity, it’s believed the Duchess is channeling encouragement to expedite her path back to full health through these lustrous gems.

In her heartfelt post on social channels last week, the Princess of Wales opened up about her recovery journey, expressing immense gratitude: “I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months.

“It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.”

She further highlighted her anticipation and cautious optimism about returning to public life: “I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet,” Kate candidly shared in her update last Friday.

She then added, “I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty.”

Prince Louis is back to his cheeky antics today, as he was seen yawning during the Trooping the Colour parade.

The six-year-old royal appeared to be bored by the display of pomp and pageantry at Horse Guards Parade, and was also spotted playing with a blind cord.

But he soon perked up and was seen dancing along during the quick march of the Scots Guards to Highland Laddie.

Appearing to be eager to get a closer look at the crowds below, Louis was also spotted wincing as he tried his hardest to open a window.

Today’s event marks the first public appearance since last year for Princess Kate, as well as for Louis and his siblings, Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, nine.

At the start of today’s celebrations, Louis looked adorable as he joined his mum and siblings in the Glass State Coach along The Mall.

George, Charlotte and Louis all looked delighted to be a part of the King’s birthday parade today.

Louis, who is the youngest of Kate and William’s children, could be spotted waving to spectators who lined the streets of London.

As he earlier waited on the steps outside Buckingham Palace, Louis couldn’t contain his excitement and took a tumble.

Louis was captured taking a slight tumble as she stood alongside his siblings and mum Kate before the spectacular military parade began. News footage appeared to catch the moment in the reflection of the impressive glass windows.

It had previously been unclear whether the young trio would attend this year, as their mother Princess Kate continues to undergo cancer treatment.

But on Friday evening, the Princess of Wales confirmed that both she and her three children would be attending Trooping the Colour today.

Alongside a new picture, the mother-of-three said: “…I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.”

Princess Kate and Prince William’s romantic moment on the balcony of Buckingham Palace has given royal fans a touching insight into their relationship. The Prince and Princess of Wales united for the palace appearance which marks the end of Trooping the Colour.

A special moment was caught on camera when William looks into the eyes of his wife, who made her triumphant return to official royal duties with an outing on Saturday (June 15) which sent royal fans into a frenzy.

Body language expert Judi James told MailOnline William’s eye-crinkling and the puckered muscles around his lips reveal his inner pride and “possible relief” to have Kate standing beside him again.

She said: “Kate, who had relaxed visibly by this stage, pinged back a wide, dimpled and very loving smile.”

Ms James told the same publication Kate’s return to the royal stage was a masterclass in royalty, adding that Kate had learnt from the late Queen by combining stoicism and calm with “not one drop of self-pity or drama”.

The Waleses at Trooping The Colour 2024

Princess Kate’s appearance had been in doubt after she missed the final Trooping rehearsal (Image: Getty)

After months of chemotherapy, which is still ongoing, the princess joined a highlight of the royal calendar, but still kept a watchful eye on her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who together stole the show.

Her appearance had been in doubt after she missed the final Trooping rehearsal last weekend, but the spectacle of military pomp and pageantry became a symbolic statement by the monarchy after a period of uncertainty, with King Charles also undergoing treatment for cancer.

Kate and fellow members of the Royal Family were cheered when they were spotted in The Mall on their way to Trooping at Horse Guards Parade.

There were cheers again when the Royal Family stepped out onto the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the RAF flypast.

Kate said in a statement on Friday (June 14) she was making “good progress” with her treatment, but candidly confessed she has “good days and bad days”. Although she has been working from home, Kate said: “I am not out of the woods yet”.

Support from the public has made a deep impression on the princess, who said she had been “blown away” by “kind messages” which had made a “world of difference” to both her and William, helping the couple “through some of the harder times”.

In a departure from last year, Kate did not join senior family members on a dais at Trooping, but watched the ceremonial proceedings from the Duke of Wellington’s former office along with her children.

Kate stunned in a Jenny Packham dress, a hat by Philip Treacy and the Irish Guards Regimental Brooch, as she is the regiment’s Colonel.

Royal fan, James Evans, 24, said Kate looked “very well and radiant as ever”. He added: “I think (her presence) sends a message – one, that she is in recovery and, two, that I think a lot of cancer survivors can feel, sort of, sympathy with that and it’s raised so much awareness about cancer as well – which is fantastic.”

Dame Laura Lee, Chief Executive of cancer support charity Maggie’s, said seeing the Princess of Wales was “just lovely”. She added: “As she said herself, today was a good day. By highlighting that there are good days and bad days, the princess is helping to draw attention and normalise the reality of living with cancer.”

Lady Louise appeared to get drenched in rain on her way to Buckingham Palace during today’s Trooping the Colour.

Lady Louise Windsor made a rare appearance today at Trooping the Colour but royal fans were not impressed after she had to ride in an open carriage during the downpour in London.

The daughter of Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie arrived at Buckingham Palace in a car alongside her parents but was later pictured in a carriage with a hood only on one side, where Duchess Sophie and the Duke of Kent were sitting.

They followed by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence who travelled together in a separate carriage.

Louise looked beautiful in the same dress she wore to the Coronation in May 2023, the lilac Kumiko Iris Silk Dress by Suzannah x Rachel Levy (£1,290) and a colour matching hat by Jane Taylor.

But royal fans did notice Louise’s positioning and took to social media to express their views.

Meghan Markle’s American Riviera Orchard reveals two new products ahead of Trooping the Colour

Meghan Markle unveiled American Riviera Orchard back in March, and after making a small batch of 50 strawberry jams for influencers, she has now made an even smaller batch of raspberry jam

Meghan Markle’s American Riviera Orchard brand has unveiled two new products, with them making their way online just a few hours ahead of Trooping the Colour and Princess Kate’s public return.

Today marks the annual Trooping the Colour, which takes place to commemorate the official birthday of the monarch, despite King Charles’ actual birthday being in November. And as senior royals prepare to attend the event, which is taking place as we speak, the Sussexes will not be in attendance.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan stepped down as working royals back in January 2020, but prior to that, the couple had made two highly-anticipated appearances at Trooping the Colour. Harry and Meghan famously attended the event, which was then for the late Queen, in 2018 shortly after their wedding, and in 2019, following the arrival of the couple’s eldest child Archie.

But 2024 marks yet another year that the Sussexes are not at the event, and it seems that Meghan is keeping busy, with her brand unveiling two new products just hours before Trooping the Colour was due to take place.

Polo player and close friend of Prince Harry, Nacho Figueras, took to social media mere hours ago to share that he had been sent some American Riveria Orchard produce. Nacho, who has been friends with the Duke of Sussex since 2007, took to Instagram earlier this morning to share photos of a new jam and some dog biscuits, which were both beautifully presented in glass containers.

It appears that Nacho was one of just two people to receive a jar of jam as the label stated it was “2 of 2”, whereas Meghan’s last batch of strawberry jam, which she gifted to the likes of Kris Jenner, was a batch of 50.

Meghan announced her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, back in March. She soft-launched the brand with an Instagram page, fancy logo, and slick promotional video. She also revealed a website with an email signup list.

The brand is still yet to be fully launched, but this new development is a promising sign that the hard launch could be coming sooner rather than later.

EXCLUSIVE: Lip reader reveals royals’ chats – Kate Middleton mum move and Louis’ brutal reply

Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, returned to public life today at the King’s official birthday celebrations – Trooping the Colour – and fans were delighted to see the Royal Family together, including Prince William, Camilla, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis

It’s been a big day for the Royal Family, with the Princess of Wales stepping back into the spotlight following her cancer treatment.

She joined King Charles and Camilla for the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony at Buckingham Palace, giving fans their first glimpse of the future Queen in months.

After revealing her chemotherapy will continue for another few months in an emotional statement yesterday, Kate was seen chatting, laughing and joking with her in-laws during the rainy afternoon. Many of the sweet moments were caught on camera, meaning The Mirror’s lip reader, Nicola Hickling, has been able to work out exactly what The Firm were discussing during the day.

From King Charles’ emotional admission to Kate’s mum move and Prince Louis’ savage remark to Charlotte – we look back at some of the conversations you may have missed when watching on TV.

    Charles’ emotional admission

Charles, who is undergoing treatment for cancer, left Buckingham Palace for the event in a carriage alongside Queen Camilla this morning. It is understood the King was advised by doctors to conduct the Trooping the Colour review from the Ascot Landau carriage, instead of on horseback as he did last year.

Charles and Camilla were seen in discussion as they took in the magnificent sights and the King made a touching admission to his wife about the celebrations. According to Nicola, Charles said to Camilla in the carriage: “Oh dear, I don’t know why I’m feeling rather tearful.”

    Kate’s regal instruction

The Princess of Wales gave her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, a very regal instruction as they watched the military spectacle from a building overlooking the parade ground. Kate, 42, appeared to tell her brood to stay where they were on arriving at Horse Guards.

She appeared to say: “You stay there, OK?” And after bending down to Charlotte, she added: “Keep smiling and stay here for one moment.

    Louis’ brutal reply

Louis, six, had a brutal reply for his sister Charlotte, nine, as she tried to keep him in check at Trooping the Colour today. Kate could be seen whispering in the ear of Charlotte as the band played, which delighted Louis as he danced along during the quick march of the Scots Guards to Highland Laddie.

But it seemed to catch the ire of his older sister, lip reader Nicola noted. As Louis danced, Charlotte appeared to say: “You have to stop doing that. Watch the parade”, to which Louis replied: “I won’t”. In turn, Charlotte seems to say: “Do as you’re told” and Louis brutally added: “Nope.”

    Playful Louis

At one point during the military show on Horse Guards Parade, Louis began to tug on some window blind cords as he watched Trooping with his mum Kate. He seemed quite enamoured with the beaded cord.

And according to Nicola, he asked his mum: “Can I play with these beads?” However Kate appeared to tell him in return: “No. I need you concentrate on the parade.”

    Louis’ delight

After watching the military parade, the royals made their way back to Buckingham Palace to appear on the balcony to watch the RAF flypast. As the planes began roaring overhead, Kate appeared to ask her youngest son: “Did you like that?” to which Louis replied: “That was so much fun.”

    Guessing games

While the royals were on the balcony, many seemingly took the opportunity to guess which aircraft were soaring overhead.

Nicola spotted Charles debating with Camilla whether we could see a Hawk or a Typhoon, while William, George and Louis discussed, which planes were their favourite. George seemingly said that Louis’ favourite was “the black one over there”. Elsewhere Charles also expressed is amazement at the crowds by appearing to say: “It’s amazing the amount of people who made it.”

Royal Family LIVE: Meghan Markle issues demand to Prince Harry over UK return

Meghan Markle is said to be very sceptical about a making a return to the UK, and has reportedly voiced one demand to Prince Harry before it occurs again.

Meghan Markle has issued “one condition” to Prince Harry if she ever was to make a return to the UK, an expert has claimed.

Since moving to the US in 2020, Meghan has made very few returns to Britain – with her last trip taking place in 2022.

It has now been claimed that Meghan has voiced to Harry that she will only return if they have a place of their own to stay and the appropriate security.

Speaking to the Mirror, royal expert and author Tom Quinn said: “Meghan has said she’s only prepared to return to England if she and Harry have a place of their own and the security they both feel is essential. Meghan will never return to the UK and stay with her husband‘s relatives.”

He added: “If the couple manage to find a permanent home and sort out the security issue they will certainly want to bring their children to the UK but it’s going to take a lot of diplomacy to get to the point where Archie and Lili are able to develop a genuine and warm relationship with their cousins George, Charlotte and Louis.”

Mr Quinn’s comments come after Harry recently won the right to take his case to the Appeal Court against the High Court’s decision that the level of protection he and his family receive in Britain is reasonable. As well as losing full taxpayer-funded police protection in 2020, Meghan and Harry were also evicted from Frogmore Cottage last June – which left the couple without official residence in the UK.
