Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ‘irrelevant’ to the remaining royals and are ‘running out of time’ to rejoin the family, Richard Eden has told Palace Confidential.

Speaking on the Mail+’s weekly talk show, Richard Eden, the Diary Editor of the Daily Mail, claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now ‘not wanted’ by the royal family.

In particular for Charles’s youngest son, 39, ‘time is running out to come back while his father is still King’.

Before Harry and Meghan made their move to the US in 2020, Richard said Harry was always ‘central’ to royal plans.

‘We saw that at Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 where it was just Harry and his brother, Camilla and Charles and of course, the queen,’ he explained.

‘Charles thought that when Harry had a family, they would be carrying out engagements and sharing those duties with William so, I think time is running out.

‘If Harry wants to come back at any stage, he needs to do it while his father is still King.’

The Diary editor added that the Prince of Wales would be far more reluctant to allow Harry back into the family, should he try, than their father.

‘I really think that when Prince William is King, I can’t see him letting Harry come back and have a role again,’ he stressed.

‘They are irrelevant now, they are just not wanted as part of the monarchy.

‘Maybe there could be some radical change but it’s hard to see.’

The comments come after an ’embarrassing’ faux pas from Meghan, who lives in Montecito with Harry and their two children.

Meghan landed herself in hot water for over shadowing the announcement that the Princess of Wales would appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony at Trooping the Colour last weekend.

Just hours before Kate Middleton appeared at the event, her first appearance in several months since her ongoing cancer treatment, a friend of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex posted a picture of Megan’s new jam and dog biscuits.

Meghan recently announced she would be selling a range of luxury home goods from her brand American Riviera Orchard.

Nacho Figueras, a polo player who is a friend of the Sussexes, shared a picture online of Meghan’s new jam alongside a picture with his dog and a packet of biscuits made by the brand.

Richard explained that the awkward overshadowing was a result of their ‘marketing campaign’ where the former actress sent out goods to friends and influencers to post but ‘you never know when they’re going to post so it’s completely out of your control’.

Figueras is among 50 or so people believed to have received a PR package from the fledgling lifestyle brand soft launched by the Duchess earlier this year.

‘It’s very embarrassing when it’s just before Catherine’s reappearance at Trooping Colour, it can look very pointed,’ the expert said.

Rebecca English, Royal Editor at the Daily Mail, added the the jam incident was ‘clumsy’ but explained by the fact that the lines of communication between the Sussex’ and working royals is ‘not existent’.

‘People don’t tell them things because they don’t trust them,’ she claimed.

‘It just shows how wise Queen Elizabeth was in having a half in, half out job.’

This year marks the second year that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not invited to the annual celebration, which celebrates the birthday of the reigning monarch.

It comes after claims that Prince Harry, who did not meet with his father during his whirlwind visit to London last month, turned down an invitation by His Majesty to stay at a royal residence during the trip because he had ‘security concerns’.

Meghan and Harry first attended Trooping the Colour together in 2018, one month after their royal wedding in Windsor. They once again appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony in 2019, weeks after welcoming their first child.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are at risk of possibly losing their £12 million mansion in Montecito, California as the legal row surrounding the Duke of Sussex’s US visa rumbles on.

Last year, conservative think tank Heritage Foundation launched a lawsuit demanding the Joe Biden administration make Harry’s US visa documents public, to show whether past drug use was disclosed.

The Prince publicly admitted past drug use in his January 2023 tell-all memoir Spare, leading to questions over whether this was admitted on his forms.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun it could be a PR blow for the Prince.

He said: “The fact of the matter is that it will be very embarrassing, or may be very embarrassing.

The Duke could face serious consequences – including being deported from the US. If it were to happen, he could be forced to leave the plush £12m mansion in Montecito, California he shares with Meghan Markle and their two children Archie and Lilibet.

Drug use can result in non-immigrant and immigrant visa applications being rejected, though immigration officers can use discretion to make a final decision, taking into account a number of factors.

A judge in the US is currently reviewing the case, and a decision may take weeks.

The Department of Homeland Security has argued that this information should remain confidential and have said it will not be released while President Biden is in office.

A representative for the Sussexes has been approached for comment.
