  • Meghan Markle’s discovery in Frogmore Cottage drawer led to emotional realisation

Meghan Markle’s discovery in Frogmore Cottage drawer led to emotional realisation

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were gifted Frogmore Cottage by the late Queen in 2019 but it was not long later that they decided to leave for the United States and take their belongings with them

Meghan Markle packed up personal belongings as the Sussexes left Frogmore Cottage before finally handing back the keys a year ago.

The cottage was the first place that Prince Harry and wife Meghan lived while part of the royal family. The couple were gifted Frogmore Cottage in 2019 by the late Queen Elizabeth, and paid for an extensive renovation independently after initially using taxpayers’ money and then repaying it.

But their time in the five-bedroom house was short-lived as by the end of 2019 they had announced their decision to leave the royal family and vacated in 2020.

The Sussexes headed to the United States and have set up home in Montecito, California, where they have been critical of other members of the royal family in a series of interviews to the American media. It has created plenty of friction that has no signs of easing.

Harry appears to have adapted to life in the US and while he rushed back to see his dad Charles when his cancer diagnosis was revealed, he did not see him the next time he was in the UK in May for an Invictus Games ceremony.

Meghan told how she was packing up personal belongings from Frogmore Cottage back in June 2022 including a diary and she herself was surprised what she had put in at the time.

“You go back and you open drawers and you’re like, Oh my gosh. This is what I was writing in my journal there?” she told The Cut. And at the time it sparked fears that it could lead to more revelations.

It was a year later that the Sussexes finally handed in the keys to the cottage. In Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare, he claimed that he and Meghan were “evicted” from the cottage after their decision to leave the royal family, with Charles asking them to leave.

The couple’s remaining possessions were shipped to California with courtier Sir Michael Stevens saying at the time in June 2023: “We can confirm that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have vacated Frogmore Cottage.” This is also the date that Prince Harry lists as officially starting his US residency.

The grand home isn’t expected to lay empty for long as now the King, 75, is said to be urging his disgraced brother, Prince Andrew, to leave his 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor and move into Frogmore Cottage.

Fury grows as ‘privileged’ Prince Harry wins award award set up to honour war hero

The decision to award Prince Harry with the Pat Tillman Award for Service has been met with further backlash, with Tillman’s mum criticising the decision

The mother of a US war hero killed in Afghanistan has hit out after Prince Harry was given the award that honours her son.

The Duke of Sussex is set to receive the Pat Tillman Award for Service in Hollywood next month. It is an honour meant for someone with a strong connection to sports who has served others in a way that honours the legacy of Pat Tillman, a former NFL player and US Army Ranger who was killed in action in Afghanistan.

However, the decision to give the accolade to Harry has sparked huge controversy. Following on from TV host Pat McAfee airing his discontent on air, the mother of the fallen soldier his criticised the decision and claimed she was not consulted.

The Daily Mail reports mum Mary fumed: “I am shocked as to why they would select such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award.

“There are recipients that are far more fitting. There are individuals working in the veteran community that are doing tremendous things to assist veterans. These individuals do not have the money, resources, connections or privilege that Prince Harry has. I feel that those types of individuals should be recognised.”

The ESPY Awards (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) is run by the sports TV network ESPN, with this specific award previously being handed out to to unsung heroes.

Last year, Buffalo Bills American football team training staff who revived a dying player on the field won the accoladed.

It’s said Harry has been honoured due to his “tireless work in making a positive impact for the veteran community through the power of sport” with his Invictus Games event.

Speaking of Harry’s nomination, TV host McAfee argued that it does not fit with the award’s intended purpose and questioned the selection process.

Speaking on air, he said: “A lot of conversation about Pat Tillman’s name American hero … Now there’s an award named after him, as there should be in the sports world because that is somebody who is the definition of selfless.

“It’s going to Prince Harry, who I don’t even think is a prince anymore.”

Boston Connor, McAfee’s show co-host, also hit out at Prince Harry’s nomination, calling it “probably the most embarrassing thing I’ve seen in my entire life”.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been immortalised in new royal-focussed artworks – something that has infuriated many royal fans.

Royal fans have issued the same complaint as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are given new “royal titles”.

Dan Llywelyn Hall, who is the artist who previously painted Queen Elizabeth II, has immortalised members of the Family – including the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The artworks also appear to show the Sussexes’ historic alter egos which reflect their status as royal outcasts.

Meghan’s portrait is called the Returning White Queen and sees her as Dame Elizabeth Grey, who is the politically influential wife of King Edward IV.

Harry, on the other hand, is depicted as Charles Edward Stuart – aka Bonnie Prince Charlie, the Young Pretender.

Royal fans have now taken to social media after seeing the paintings, with many not happy about the move.

Royal fans have appeared to all have the same complaint, with one even issuing that it is “worse than [the] Charles portrait”.

This is in reference to a painting released earlier this year that has been deemed the King’s “red” painting. Another fan said that Meghan and Harry’s paintings look like they’d been painted by a child.

Others said that they’d burst out laughing after seeing them. One fan commented: “Those pics have made my day, on the floor laughing with the tears rolling down my back.”

Speaking of his paintings, Llywelyn Hall said: “In Harry’s case, I have entered the story before he met Meghan the young party-goer with his future very much in the balance, a bit like the Bonnie Prince I have likened him to.

“I thought putting Meghan in the role of the White Queen, who was a Queen Consort and possibly the most influential ‘outsider’ in royal history, might have a fine irony to it and not necessarily beyond the realms of reality.”

The new paintings are set to go on display as part of an exhibition called The Reign.

Further speaking of his paintings, Mr Llywelyn Hall added: “The Royal Family is possibly the most enthralling longest-running drama in history, the inspiration of theatre, books and every art form.

“It seemed that these figures caught on the knife edge of public opinion were ideal for drawing comparisons from distant monarchs – like the exiled princes and princesses of the past, that lurk in the background but are still irrevocably tied to the job.

“We can’t help ourselves and wonder whatever next?”

The Reign exhibition will open to the public at Burlington House in Mayfair, central London between June 28 and July 5.

The exhibition is being held in celebration of the 150 year anniversary of the Society of Antiquaries at Burlington House. The pictures being auctioned off to support the cataloguing and digitisation of around 25,000 prints and drawings from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Huge blow to Prince Harry as petition launched after ‘incredibly hurtful’ decision

Prince Harry has been nominated for the Pat Tillman Award, a decision which has not gone down well with everyone.

A petition has been set up to prevent Prince Harry being awarded the Pat Tillman Award for Service at a ceremony in Hollywood next month over concerns he is not a “suitable” candidate.

Pat Tillman was an American NFL player who then enlisted in the US Army in 2002, serving in Iraq and Afghanistan before he was killed by friendly fire in 2004.

The award was set up in his name to honour “given to a person with a strong connection to sports who has served others in a way that echoes the legacy” of Mr Tillman.

The Duke of Sussex being honoured in such a way has not gone down so well in the US, where Harry now lives with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Pat Tillman’s mother Mary criticised the decision to award Harry, saying: “I am shocked as to why they would select such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award.

But this explanation has not stopped a petition being launched urging ESPN to rethink their decision, as it claims Harry has been “involved in controversies that call into question his suitability to receive an honour of this magnitude”.

The petition also said “awarding this honour to someone who does not reflect the award’s intent diminishes its value and disrespects Tillman’s memory.”

A inside source told GB News: “It’s incredibly hurtful that the family had no say in this. Pat Tillman was a unifying force for good. Harry is divisive… There are many unsung heroes who are far more deserving.”

  • Prince Harry’s latest move shows he has ‘no wish to patch things up’ with Royal Family

Prince Harry’s latest move shows he has ‘no wish to patch things up’ with Royal Family

Prince Harry may be back in the UK soon, but one expert claims this will not spell the end of his rift with the Royal Family.

Prince Harry’s potential trip to the UK to patch things up with the Royal Family has been questioned by a royal expert, as a number of recent opportunities have been missed.

The Duke of Sussex travelled to the UK in May for the 10th anniversary commemorative service for the Invictus Games at St Paul’s Cathedral, but did not stay at a royal residence while he was in London and did not see any family members from his father’s side.

He also chose not to attend his close friend Hugh Grosvenor’s wedding to Olivia Henson and was once again not invited to Trooping the Colour on June 15.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond explained to OK! magazine that if Harry really were so desperate to make things right with the royals, he would have set aside time to do so.

She said: “If Harry had really wanted to confront his family and patch things up, he would surely have allotted more time to his recent visits so that his father – at least – could make arrangements to see him.”

Ms Bond said of Harry’s possible reunion with his older brother, Prince William: “I don’t think there’s any chance of William wanting to do so, particularly with all he has on his plate right now.

“So, I’ll believe this when I see it, but it will be lovely if he could indeed spend some time, perhaps at Balmoral, during the summer and make peace with his father.”

Her comments come after a source disclosed to Closer magazine that the Duke was left feeling “upset and emotional” after seeing footage of his family gathered to celebrate the King’s official birthday at Trooping.

Harry once again missed out on Trooping the Colour (Image: Getty)

The source revealed: “He can’t believe it’s come to this, and he’s now saying he’s going to fly over and force them to face him. He’s still a prince, after all; they’re still his family, and whether they like it or not, he’s refusing to just be cast aside.

“He continues to be heartbroken and confused by the way he’s being treated by the royals. It’s as though he doesn’t exist anymore.”

One lost relationship that Harry seems to be missing greatly is the one with his sister-in-law, Princess Kate, as the pair once had a close bond.

The insider added: “He continues to be heartbroken and confused by the way he’s being treated by the royals. He’s not getting updates on his father or Kate’s health, and even basic communications are pretty well non-existent.”

Harry did fly over to London back in February to see the King after learning he had been diagnosed with cancer, but they only met for a short time and he travelled back to California the next day.

Harry and Meghan sent a message of support to Kate when her own cancer news broke, but they have now not seen each other for some time.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry warned they’ll ‘never be forgiven’ after ‘painful’ move

One royal expert claimed he didn’t think a reconciliation between Prince Harry and Prince William was “ever going to happen” after Meghan Markle and the Duke attacked the Royal Family.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been warned that they’ll never be forgiven after causing so much “pain” to the Royal Family, an expert warned.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been at loggerheads with the Royal Family for some time, with tensions heightening since they decided to step down as senior working royals in 2020.

The pair, who now reside in the US, have been urged to not expect that they’ll ever be forgiven – especially by Prince William and Princess Kate.

Speaking of the ongoing feud, royal expert Charles Rae said: “Well, I think it is down to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to make the first move.

“Whether or not it would be accepted by William and Catherine, I doubt very much it would be. There’s too much water which has gone under that bridge.”

The expert told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show: “After everything Harry and Meghan have done with the Oprah Winfrey interview, that Netflix show… [Harry’s book] Spare. The flamboyant curtsey by Meghan on the show as well. There’s too much gone under the bridge now.”

He added that William and Kate may not “respond favourably” even if the pair did eventually try to heal the rift.

Speaking about the possibility of the brothers coming together, Mr Rae continued: “I don’t think it’s ever going to happen and I suspect one of the driving forces in not making it happen is Meghan herself. I’m not trying to blame her for everything.

“I don’t blame her for everything but I don’t think things she is doing help matters.”

prince william with his wife kate

Prince William ‘has a lot more on his mind’ at the moment, expert claims. (Image: PA)

He said: “William’s got a lot more on his mind right now than repairing the troubles with his own brother. He’s got his wife to look after and his three children. They are the most important things that are going on.”

Discussing the extent of the family rift in the present time, Mr Rae said: “Any rift in any family is very, very sad.

“They’re doing it in the full glare of publicity and that’s obviously ten times worse than you falling out with your brother or sister.

“But Harry’s caused an awful lot of pain to various members of the Royal Family, his father, his brother, his sister-in-law.”

The couple moved to the US with Archie shortly after stepping down as working royals, before welcoming their daughter the following year.

Prince Harry and Glastonbury headliner Chris Martin have had a friendship stretching more than a decade, including the Coldplay frontman writing a song for the Invictus Games and the Duke of Sussex giving him a mention in Spare.

Prince Harry and Coldplay singer Chris Martin have been pals for way over a decade, with Duke of Sussex even giving the Glastonbury headliner a mention in his 2023 memoir, Spare.

The pair were first pictured publicly together in 2014 when Chris, 47, had written a song for the inaugural Invictus Games. In a photograph shared on Coldplay’s Twitter, Prince Harry, 39, joined the band in the recording studio ahead of the song’s release.

The song was performed by a choir at the Invictus Games Opening Ceremony and was based on William Ernest Henley’s 19th-century poem, Invictus.

Harry enlisted the help of Chris and his bandmates once again for his Sentebale concert at Kensington Palace back in June 2016. The concert was held to raise money and awareness of HIV.

Harry joined Coldplay on stage for their last song, Up & Up, which is from their 2015 album A Head Full of Dreams.

At the end of the performance, Harry shook hands with Chris before grabbing the microphone and telling the crowd: “Thank you to Coldplay – thank you so much, you’ve rocked the palace, you’ve rocked the palace.”

The pair’s friendship also extends to their personal lives. Years before they were first seen together, comedian Ricky Gervais revealed he had enjoyed a drink with them following one of his stand-up shows.

Writing on his blog in 2010, Ricky said: “Hammersmith (Apollo) was great… Had a drink after the show with Chris Martin and Prince Harry. As you do.”

Fast forward to 2019, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle expressed their gratitude to Chris as they rang in the New Year.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared a montage of photos recapping their 2019 on their Sussexroyal Instagram account.

They wrote: “Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and thanking you for your continued support! We’ve loved meeting so many of you from around the world and can’t wait to meet many more of you next year. We hope 2020 brings each of you health and continued happiness.”

In a nod to them using Coldplay’s song Clocks in the background, the couple continued: “Special thanks to Chris Martin and Coldplay for allowing us to use one of their songs.”

Two months later, in February 2020, Buckingham Palace announced that Harry and Meghan would step back from being working members of the Royal Family.

In June of that year, the couple moved to Montecito, California, just 63 miles away from where Chris lives in Malibu.

It seems that Harry and Chris’s friendship strengthened during this time as the royal gave the Coldplay frontman a mention in his bombshell memoir, Spare.

In the 2023 book’s acknowledgements, the duke gave a special thanks to his wife Meghan Markle, their children Archie and Lilibet, as well as his mother-in-law Doria.

He then thanked Chris, Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, James Corden, Nacho Figueras and his wife Delfina Blaquier for their “unwavering friendship and support”.

EXCLUSIVE: Catastrophic poll shows Tories have fallen even further behind Nigel Farage’s Reform UK

Our weekly poll shows just 18% of voters plan to support Rishi Sunak’s party. Keir Starmer’s Labour has the backing of 38%, while 21% say they plan to vote for Reform UK

The Tories have fallen even further behind Nigel Farage’s Reform UK, putting them on course for an election wipeout.

Our weekly poll shows just 18% of voters plan to support Rishi Sunak’s party with one week until polling day. Labour has the backing of 38%, while 21% say they plan to vote for Reform.

Both the Tories and Labour are down one point since last week, with Reform gaining a point.

Mr Sunak has failed to make any progress in reducing Keir Starmer’s commanding lead since he called the election.. Labour continues to be 20 points ahead, which is exactly how it was in our first poll of the campaign four weeks ago.

According to the latest survey, conducted by Whitestone Insight, the Lib Dems are down one point in the past week to 11%, as the Green Party has risen one point to 7%.

Lachlan Rurlander of the pollster said: “Reform UK has managed to sustain some momentum and achieved a three-point lead over the Conservatives, despite what has widely been seen as a difficult week for Nigel Farage.”

It comes as latest donation figures from the Electoral Commission show Labour managed to raise £8.6million in the first three weeks of the campaign as the Tories managed just £1.2million.

Mr Sunak today told of the hurt of his daughters after a Reform UK canvasser described him as a “f**ing p***”. Andrew Parker was filmed using the racist term about the PM as he campaigned for Mr Farage in Clacton. He also suggested migrants making dangerous Channel crossings should be used as “target practice”.

Another canvasser described the Pride flag as “degenerate” and suggested members of the LGBT community are paedophiles.

Appearing on ITV’s Loose Women, Mr Farage suggested the language of his supporters was “vulgar, drunken and wrong” and that they had been kicked out of the party.

Mr Parker said: “Of course I regret what I said. I’m old school. Christ, I’m not a racist. I’ve had Muslim girlfriends. It was typical chaps-down-the-pub talk.” Asked why he had made the remarks, he added: “It was in the heat of the moment. I was goaded on.”

In her tell-all book, Lady C, 70, discusses Prince Harry and Meghan’s motive in leaving the Royal family and putting the responsibilities that come with it behind them.

Speaking to New magazine, the former Celebs Go Dating star described their unexpected move as ‘terribly sad’ before suggesting that former actress Meghan is the brains behind the unprecedented decision.

She went on to claim that the American star tried her utmost to outshine Harry’s dear mother before insisting that he is ‘much less intelligent’ than his other half.

Lady C insisted: “It’s a terribly, terribly sad situation. In my opinion, Harry is a much less intelligent character than she is and I think he’s so desperate to please her and go along with whatever she says, no matter how ill-conceived it is”.

The controversial star shared her feelings that Harry would still be a member of the Royal family if Meghan was not around.

“I believe that if Harry had married anyone else, he would still be a member of the royal family and I believe Meghan’s ambition was always to outshine Diana” she insited.

Loose Women icon Denise Welch has hit back after a talent agent claimed that the ITV panel show is a ‘cut-throat’ place to work, insisting that this isn’t the case

Denise Welch has furiously slammed claims that Loose Women is a far from pleasant programme to work on.

It comes after talent agent Melanie Blake claimed: “In my experience, it’s [Loose Women] that’s a cut-throat place to work and not This Morning.” In a heated social media spat, Denise stated that she “adores” her fellow panellists and would never work for a programme which she deemed to be toxic.

Melanie, who managed some of the biggest television stars previously said: “Considering I represented over 15 women on that show, I am only friends with Saira Khan. But I am in such a positive career space right now, it’s just not a period of time I want to relive. But I can confirm in my experience, it’s that show that’s a cut-throat place to work and not This Morning.”

This infuriated Denise, 65, who has appeared on the show in various roles since 2000 as she took to X, formerly known as Twitter, saying: “So disappointing that a female agent @MelanieBlakeUK constantly uses her position to tear down other women. It’s such a cliche that women can’t work together without being b*****s. I adore my @loosewomen colleagues otherwise I wouldn’t work there.”

She later added: “Melanie writes that Loose Women was and is a toxic place to work. I’m sorry Melanie but it isn’t. I love it. Otherwise, I wouldn’t work there. If she only speaks to one of the women she used to represent then that says more about her than them.” Responding to Denise, Melanie said that her comments referred specifically to the “era” she worked on the ITV daytime programme.

Speaking previously, Melanie told Notebook: “Put a load of ambitious women together with a small amount of seats to fill and inevitably there is always going to be tension. There were a lot of egos in my era, so it’s not a show I want my new agency to represent stars from again.” Denise isn’t the only panellist from the programme to shut down allegations of a feud between the stars.

Last month, Kaye Adams commented: “I do get fed up that almost always we will be asked whether we bitch about each other. I’m just waiting for Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker to be asked the same question because they just never are. When we are asked about feuds, we think it is funny. It is certainly not a viper’s nest.”The one thing that I can guarantee when I go to the Loose Women, regardless of the line-up of women, regardless of the topics, at some point in that day, I will have a real belly laugh. And I don’t know how many other people can say that about their working life. I’m really delighted to say, hand on heart at some point in the day, we will be creasing ourselves, which is a lovely thing.”
