Meghan Markle’s dad insists he ‘doesn’t want pity’ as he reflects on family feud

Meghan Markle’s dad has opened up about his estranged relationship with Meghan Markle and insisted he is not looking for sympathy. He famously fell out with the Sussexes in 2018

Thomas Markle says he does not want the family feud to define his life

Meghan Markle’s dad says he does not want his feud with his daughter to define his life as he insists he “doesn’t want pity”.

Thomas Markle – who turns 80 next month – has opened up about his estrangement from the Sussexes, confessing that he is not expecting to receive any birthday wishes from the couple. The retired Hollywood lighting director also described how he felt “vulnerable” when the drama started with Harry and Meghan and slammed the duo for accusing the Royal Family of racism, which he said was “far worse” than his own ‘mistakes”.

Thomas famously fell out with his daughter following his paparazzi scandal and absence from her wedding in 2018. The duo have not had contact over the last six years and Thomas has never met his grandchildren 5-year-old Prince Archie and three-year-old Princess Lilibet, nor Prince Harry.

Speaking to Daily Mail, Thomas compared his own misdemeanours to that of his daughter and son-in-law. He said: “When you look at what Harry and Meghan have done since, like accusing the Royal Family of racism, it’s far worse than anything I’ve done. I don’t want pity and I don’t want this episode to define my life. I don’t want to be a footnote in history.”

Thomas described how he has “had a good life and I am proud of what I’ve accomplished”, adding that “everything has been overshadowed by what has happened in the last six years.”

Despite not wanting sympathy, Thomas went on to describe how he was “vulnerable” when all the drama began with Harry and Meghan. He famously missed giving Meghan away at her wedding after he suffered two heart attacks prior to the nuptials, meaning that Charles ended up walking her down the aisle in his place.

He said: “When the drama started with Meghan and Harry I was already well into my 70s and, while I did not realise it at the time, I was vulnerable.”

Meghan previously opened up about her broken relationship with her dad during her bombshell 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. “I grieve a lot,” she said. She added: “I mean, I’ve lost my father.”

Amanda Holden gives blunt Prince Harry and Meghan Markle verdict with five words

Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston have weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after Graham Norton confessed people “don’t care”

Amanda Holden has claimed the British public “don’t care” about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The Heart FM Breakfast show host weighed in after Graham Norton claimed people just want the Sussexes to “live their lives” in Montecito, California. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, 61-year-old chat show legend Graham questioned if the average Brit is really bothered about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, reports the Express.

He pointed out that they had “defied” the seemingly flawless Prince William and Kate Middleton. In a previously aired 2023 interview, Graham expressed his doubts about public interest, saying: “Do regular people care that much? I don’t think they do. I think they just think let them live their lives.”

On today’s Heart Breakfast, Amanda Holden brought up Graham’s past comments and agreed with him, stating: “I think you’re right. I think the press makes so much of it but none of us really care.”

Her co-host Jamie Theakston chimed in with agreement, remarking: “I think we don’t care that much.” The Duke and Duchess of Sussex famously stepped back from Royal duties in 2020, moving their family from Frogmore Cottage to the US.

Since their departure, they’ve been embroiled in controversy through various personal endeavours, including Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare and their revealing Netflix documentary series Harry and Meghan.

Meghan has also ventured into business with her new brand, American Riviera Orchard, eagerly anticipating the launch of its potential hit product – a rose wine. Meghan is set to join the ranks of celebrities like Kylie Minogue, Brad Pitt, and Sarah Jessica Parker who have launched their own alcoholic beverages.

Harry and Meghan ‘hysterical over incompetence when charity banned from all activities’, says expert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been forced to speak out to set the record straight after their charity Archewell was temporarily forced to suspend all fundraising

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “were almost hysterical” when they found out about the drama surrounding their Archewell charity, according to one royal expert.

The non-profit organisation had been forced to suspend all fundraising and spending over claims it had failed to submit its annual report and registration fees. However, an investigation has found Archewell was never out of compliance and all files and required payment were sent and delivered to the Attorney General’s Office via tracked mail and received on time. The charity’s new status has been updated to “current”.

News of the drama broke when the couple were in Nigeria to promote the Invictus Games. Royal author Tom Quinn has suggested Meghan and Harry would have panicked when the scandal was made public.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Tom said: “According to friends of the couple, Harry and Meghan were almost hysterical when they were told their charity Archewell had been banned from charitable activities for failing to pay their registration fee.

“The couple insist it was just a simple mistake and that the cheque is in the post, but however you dress it up, it looks like incompetence.” He added: “Harry and Meghan are highly sensitive about any criticism of their charitable work, especially since over the past few years at least five senior Archewell staff have resigned. One former staffer said that Meghan was a delightful person but difficult to work for unless she is allowed full control over everything: ‘She does not share power!’”

The initial scathing letter from California’s attorney general, Rob Bonta, said the charity had allowed official registration fees to lapse since the beginning of May. It said the charity was then considered “not in good standing” and was restricted from undertaking activities requiring registration.

A source close to Archewell previously spoke to The Mirror about the Archewell drama and insisted the fees were never late. The source claimed: “For whatever reason, it has not been cashed. As soon as the foundation learnt of the problem, they immediately issued another cheque. Harry and Meghan’s team hope this will quickly resolve the issue within the next week.”

A representative for AWF later told The Mirror: “We have diligently investigated the situation and can confirm that The Archewell Foundation remains fully compliant and in good standing. Due payments were made promptly and in accordance with the IRS’s processes and procedures. Furthermore, all necessary paperwork had been filed by the Foundation without error or wrongdoing.”

In a statement to The LA Times, the California attorney general’s press office said: “After being in touch with our Registry of Charities and Fundraisers, the organisation is current and in good standing.” Speaking in a press conference, California governor Gavin Newsom defended Archewell, stating: “I just want folks to know, not only are they in compliance, it was a technical paperwork issue that was wildly over-hyped.”

Instead, he discovered other talents that led him to a successful career.

What does Brooklyn Beckham do for a living?

Despite being born to wealthy parents, David and Victoria Beckham made sure that their children know the value of money and how much hard work goes into earning it.

David Beckham is one of the best footballers to have ever played for England and no football fan can ever forget the free-kick scored from 30 yards against Greece.

Victoria Beckham worked her way to success with the Spice Girls initially as Posh Spice and now is a successful fashion designer carrying her line.

At 15-years old, Brooklyn got a job as a barista in a London coffee shop and from there he started working towards a successful career.

Now at only 23-years old, Brooklyn is a successful chef, model and photographer.

Brooklyn’s latest venture has been cooking and also produced his own eight-part series on Facebook called Cookin’ with Brooklyn.

He is not a chef yet, but he aspires to be and explained this series as “the start of my food journey.”

He learnt a few tricks from Gordon Ramsay, who’s a family friend and on the show, he is seen taking lessons from Japanese world-famous chef Nobu Matsuhisa.

He got into cooking during the lockdown Covid-19 imposed.

Like many, Brooklyn was seeking ways to go through this difficult period and so he got into cooking.

His wife-to-be, Nicola Peltz started filming and he shared them online and that is how he is on his way to becoming a chef.

    Model

Brooklyn didn’t take on his father’s footballing legacy but he surely took on his genes.

No wonder he landed some modelling jobs too, his most recent being a £1 million contract with High Street fashion label Superdry.

Brooklyn modelled for a sustainable range of clothes and this fact made it even more important for him.

Modelling and fashion do run in the family.

While Victoria runs a fashion label and his father previously modelled too, his younger brother Romeo landed a modelling job for Burberry’s Christmas campaign when he was just 12-years old.

    Photographer

    Brooklyn is also a photographer.

He attended an internship with renowned photographer Rankin in 2019 and picked up the tricks needed to be a successful photographer.

He also released a photography book titled What I See with shots he had taken throughout his upbringing.

Pictures include his younger sister Harper colouring, his brother Romeo against a wall with flowers in his hands and pictures of Brooklyn’s views.

Brooklyn admitted that he tried to be secretive while taking pictures because he wanted them to be as natural as possible.

He earned himself a scholarship at an arts university in Manhattan, New York thanks to his hard work through photography.

Brooklyn also got to work with his father through this venture, after he carried out a photoshoot with David’s fashion collection.

AS his brother gets ready for the biggest day of his life, Romeo Beckham has taken an early morning stroll and shown off the sunrise.

The professional footballer shared a snap of his beachfront view in the early hours of the morning before getting ready for the big day.

His girlfriend Mia Regan will be in attendance at the £3million wedding where celeb guests will be asked not to take photographs and all social media will be banned from the three-day event.

The upcoming ceremony will be featured in Vogue and Nicola will be wearing a Valentino dress

David and Victoria Beckham’s eldest, 23, and Nicola Peltz, 27, will have a double wedding, with two ceremonies marking the separate faiths of Nicola’s parents. One will be Catholic, a nod to mum Claudia, and the other Jewish, for her dad Nelson, revealed The Sun this week.

Aspiring chef Brooklyn — who has said he will wear a skullcap, or yarmulke — is also going to take Nicola’s surname as his middle name.

He was seen arriving last night — along with his parents and his little sister Harper, ten.

The festivities began with a rehearsal dinner, set to be attended by many of the celeb guests. As is traditional, Brooklyn and actress Nicola will part ways afterwards and not see each other until today, when no expense has been spared.

The star-studded bash will see Brooklyn’s brothers Romeo and Cruz, 16, acting as Best Men — while Nicola’s ice hockey-playing brother Brad has been appointed Man of Honour.

The 300 guests will be treated to limitless £200 bottles of Bollinger champagne and cordon bleu grub, with £50,000 spent on rare orchids to decorate the tables.

And the famously canny Beckhams will not pay a penny as mega-loaded financier Nelson, 79, has insisted on covering the whole event.

His £1.3billion fortune dwarfs the Beckhams’ £380million wad.

Victoria’s ex-Spice Girl bandmate Mel B has confirmed she is going while Emma Bunton and Mel C have also been invited to the celebrity wedding of the year.

Geri Horner has instead flown to Melbourne to support Red Bull-owning husband Christian at this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix.

Chef Gordon Ramsay and family were already there, though the Beckhams’ offer for him to do the food was turned down by Nelson, who has commissioned caterers from Miami.

Rumours were also swirling last night that pop superstar Bruno Mars has been lined up as a secret special act while rapper Snoop Dogg is also said to be performing.

Latino star Marc Anthony will sing while DJ Fat Tony is set to hit the decks. Other guests include actress Eva Longoria, while Prince Harry and Meghan have also been rumoured to be flying in from their LA home.

Brooklyn, who has revealed he will probably cry on the big day as he is emotional, has signed a prenup.

The couple began dating in October 2019 and Brooklyn proposed with a £350,000 diamond ring in July 2020.

Aspiring chef Brooklyn looked in high spirits earlier today ahead of his wedding extravaganza.

He was seen wearing a white monogrammed shirt with a matching pair of trousers which looked like pyjamas.

Looking composed, the groom carried a cute Bichon Frise pup and drove a golf cart around the estate.

Around noon, Brooklyn’s sister Harper, 10, was seen arriving at the compound house in a black Escalade.

Dressed in what appeared to be pyjamas, she was carrying a bottle of water and a mobile phone.

Brooklyn’s parents David and Victoria Beckham were amongst the first guest to arrive for the pre-wedding party yesterday.

The couple and their daughter Harper joined Brooklyn at the Peltz estate in Palm Beach where he and actress Nicola, 27, will say ‘I do’.

Football legend David, 46, looked chuffed as he turned up in his Maserati sportscar.

Meanwhile former Spice Girl Victoria, 47, was on hand to help bring boxes inside.

Brooklyn’s little sister Harper Seven looked pretty in a floral dress as she helped her fashion designer mum.

The Peltz family’s £76m beachside estate was flanked by heavy security as the guests started arriving ahead of the big day, thought to be costing a cool £3m.

A ring of steel has been formed around three marquees on the estate, with a cop car guarding a beach entrance half a mile away yesterday. A security helicopter has also been seen circling the area.

The Sun previously revealed the couple are to have a “double wedding”, with two ceremonies marking the separate faiths of Nicola’s parents. One will be Catholic, a nod to mum Claudia, and the other Jewish, for her dad Nelson.

Aspiring chef Brooklyn — who has said he will wear a skullcap, or yarmulke — is also going to take Nicola’s surname as his middle name.

Other guests expected for the celebrations include Victoria’s Spice Girls bandmates Mel B, Mel C and Emma Bunton.

Geri Horner has decided to skip the nuptials and has instead flown to Melbourne to support Red Bull-owning husband Christian at this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix.

Other famous faces set to attend include the Beckhams’ close family friends Gordon and Tana Ramsay, actress Eva Longoria and model Gigi Hadid.

It’s thought Brooklyn and Nicola have also extended an invitation to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

On the day 300 guests will be treated to limitless £200 bottles of Bollinger champagne and Cordon Bleu grub, with £50,000 spent on rare orchids to decorate the tables.

With two never-before-seen pictures of her with the couple, Emma penned a heartfelt message on Instagram.

She wrote: “These two beautiful souls are getting married today. I’m so sorry I couldn’t make it there to celebrate you both. We Love you all very much.”

Emma included a well-intended quip to Brooklyn’s dad David Beckham and her fellow Spice Girl Victoria, urging them to “try not to cry too much”.

Emma ended the post with “#happytears”.

Brooklyn is the eldest child of former England football captain David, 46, and singer turned fashion designer Victoria, 47, who have a £380million fortune.

Emma will surely be missed among the many A-listers believed to be taking part in loved-up couples’ nuptials.

Brooklyn and Nicola will wed during a lavish £3million event today in front of a star-studded guestlist.

The luxury nuptials have been in the planning since Brooklyn proposed to Transformers actress Nicola in July 2020.

Yet his family’s wealth is dwarfed by the £1.3billion banked by Nicola’s financier father Nelson, 79, whose wife is former model Claudia, 65.

The couple previously signed a prenuptial agreement ahead of their wedding today, held at the Peltz family’s £76million ocean-front mansion in Palm Beach, Florida.

Meanwhile, Eva Longoria, actress and fashion designer Nicole Ritchie, model Gigi Hadid and Gordon Ramsay are likely to attend the wedding.

Brooklyn told Nicola on social media recently: “I fall more in love with you every single day and I cannot wait to grow old with you.”

Proud parents Victoria and David were spotted after the wedding – the fashion designer looked radiant in a flowing silver gown with embellished detail, while the footie star looked dapper in a black suit.

The pair looked over the moon as they strolled hand in hand.

The three-day, £3million wedding spectacular is expected to eclipse even his parents’ famous 1999 Golden Thrones nuptials.

The lavish ceremony is thought to have cost around £3million.

It came after ex-England star David told Nicola in a pre-wedding party speech on Friday:  “We love you so much. We are excited that you’ll be part of the family. You’re an amazing person.”

The newlyweds were joined  by an array of A-listers who had gathered for the three-day  spectacular, including Gordon Ramsay, 55, tennis champ Serena Williams, 40, and actress Eva Longoria, 47.

Others on the guest list included  Spice Girls Melanie Brown, 46, and Melanie Chisholm, 48, supermodels Gigi Hadid, 26, and Gisele Bundchen, 41, former footballer Phil Neville, 45, and Brooklyn’s god- father Dave Gardner, 44.

One  guest described the double ceremony — designed to mark the Catholic faith of Nicola’s mum Claudia and the  Judaism of her  dad Nelson — as “touching” and “emotional”.

They said: “It was a very special occasion with lots of personal touches. Brooklyn and Nicola clearly put a lot of thought and effort into making the day as special as possible.

“They both looked stunning, and  very much in love.
“Both of their families are very proud of them and  delighted to see them so happy.”

Yesterday morning, Brooklyn — who will take Peltz as his middle name — was seen travelling to a nearby house in a golf buggy  in a white pyjama-style outfit, with his white bichon frise dog, Label.

Little sister Harper, ten, who was dressed in a white robe with blue frills, was dropped off at the same house by a black Cadillac Escalade at midday.

And brother Cruz, 17, was seen climbing into a red car in the mansion grounds soon after, dressed casually in a blue jumper and jogging bottoms.

Meanwhile, preparations were still ongoing in the marquees, where staff were seen setting up gold and white tables and chairs and putting the finishing touches to the flooring and lights.

Band equipment was also visible, ready for the reception entertainment. Musicians could be heard rehearsing salsa music. Ahead of the 4.30pm start, hundreds of  guests  in  black tie were seen arriving at the expansive property.

A nervous-looking Brooklyn then made his arrival, flanked by his groomsmen, brothers Romeo, 19, and Cruz, and supported by parents David, 46, and Victoria, 47.

Once the gathered guests  were  seated, Nicola   made her entrance in a gown by Pierpaolo Piccioli at Valentino — one of three made for her for the celebrations.

Another guest said: “Nicola looked absolutely stunning — and Brooklyn was blown away.” Following the ceremony, sources say  guests were treated to limitless bottles of £200 Bollinger at a champagne reception held in the garden marquees, one of which featured steps down to the ocean.

The tables and furniture were supplied by Pablo Oliveira at Nuage Designs, who looked after Chelsea Clinton’s nuptials, while flowers — including 400 orchids costing £50,000  — were said to have been sourced by Rishi Patel at HMR Designs.

Hundreds of dollars’ worth of white hydrangeas and green cymbidiums were supplied by Flowers of Worth Avenue, one of Nicola’s favourite florists.

And Miami chef Thierry Isambert, who has previously cooked for former US president Bill Clinton, is understood to have designed and delivered the luxury menu.

Following the dinner, guests then partied the night away to a series of musical acts — including Jennifer Lopez’s former husband and Latin star Marc Anthony and DJ Fat Tony.  Rapper Snoop Dogg also  performed.

The ceremony — which even eclipsed the Beckhams’ 1999 Golden Thrones nuptials — came  after  a welcome celebration for guests on Friday.

This event, which began at 7pm and had a “festive cocktail” dress code, saw guests lavished with cocktails and champagne while dance music and pop anthems such as George Michael’s Freedom and All That She Wants by Ace of Base blasted out for hours.

A generous barbecue was also put on to soak up some of the evening’s excesses.

Brooklyn’s brothers Romeo and Cruz praised the groom to be, telling of their pride in “the man he has become”.

Nicola’s brother and Man of Honour, Brad, injected some humour, telling him: “Welcome to the family. Rule Number One: Happy wife, happy life.”

Aspiring chef Brooklyn opted to wear an all-white suit and matching shoes to the do, in a  nod to   dad David  who wore an all-white suit to marry Victoria.

David sported a black jacket with flared black trousers, with fashion designer Victoria wearing a black maxi dress.

Romeo’s girlfriend Mia Regan, 19, broke strict “no phone” rules around the event by posting Instagram snaps of the couple in their party outfits.

The boozy welcome event was also captured by an official Vogue photographer, with Brooklyn wrapping his arms around Nicola to pose for shots during the evening.

After the do, mum  Victoria took to Instagram to share snaps of the family in Miami, writing: “An exciting weekend ahead of us! Kisses from Miami.”

The couple’s three-day celebration will end today with a “casual” brunch for guests, also held at the sprawling Florida estate.

Our source added: “It should be a lovely way to finish off a fantastic weekend.” Days before their nuptials the pair admitted in an interview with Vogue that they both had some last minute nerves.

The couple met at Coachella Music Festival in April 2017 and went public with their relationship in November 2019 after they were pictured hugging.

They moved in together in March 2020 and got engaged in July, after Brooklyn proposed with a £250,000 diamond and emerald engagement ring.

Brooklyn is understood to have signed a pre-nup agreement.

Prince Harry Fears For Archie And Lilibet’s Safety In UK

Prince Harry reluctant to bring Archie and Lilibet to the UK amid his ongoing legal battle

Prince Harry harbors concerns about bringing his children, Archie and Lilibet, to the UK amid his ongoing legal battle against the Home Office.

While conversing at the latest episode of The Royal Record Podcast, GB News’s Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker and the Digital Editor Svar Nanan-Sen spoke about the recent developments in the Royal Family.

Cameron said that due to this lack of publicly sponsored safety, Harry, 39, is reluctant to bring his children, Princess Lilibet, 3, and Prince Archie, 5, to the UK.

He added, “Prince Harry still has an ongoing legal battle with the Home Office over their decisions to change the level of his police protection when he stood back as a working member of the Royal Family, and he’s been granted permission to appeal the decision.”

Svar said, “You can see how passionately Harry feels about that and how important of an issue it is to him.

He continued, “He suffered a couple of court defeats now and he’s still fighting his way, plus he’s got another appeal coming up.

“It is clearly something that they’re very concerned about. And I also don’t think Harry would be doing this if he didn’t envisage coming to the UK more regularly, both himself and his family. He clearly sees it as an important thing to be able to bring over his family,” Svan noted

Cameron responded, “Well, that’s the crux of it because Harry’s case is he does not feel safe.”

The correspondent stated, “He doesn’t feel his family is safe when they’re in the UK because they do not have police protection officers with the Metropolitan Police with him.”

He also said, “So perhaps that is the main reason why Prince Harry isn’t bringing Meghan and Archie and Lilibet over to the UK because he can’t guarantee, he would say he can’t guarantee their safety.”
