England were awarded a contentious penalty.

A former FIFA referee has given a new reason why England’s penalty against the Netherlands should not have been given.

Ex-FIFA referee gives new reason why England's penalty against Netherlands should not have been given

On Wednesday England reached a second successive European Championship final with a 2-1 victory against the Netherlands.

England fell behind early in the semi-final clash thanks to a Xavi Simons strike, but Harry Kane soon equalised from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Denzel Dumfries.

The match looked destined for extra-time until substitute Ollie Watkins latched onto a Cole Palmer pass and rifled a low effort into the far bottom corner.

England were the better side in the first half, but they struggled after half-time and were fortunate not to concede a second.

Many people – including former England defender Gary Neville – thought England were also handed a massive slice of luck when they were awarded a first-half penalty.

Kane was caught late by Dumfries after shooting over the bar, but referee Felix Zwayer didn’t award a penalty on the field.

The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) advised him to consult the pitchside monitor, after which he awarded England a spot-kick and booked Dumfries.

Whether Dumfries fouled Kane or not was a point of debate at half-time and after the match, but a former FIFA referee believes an incident before the foul should have prevented the awarding of a penalty.

Jonas Eriksson, who officiated at the 2014 World Cup, pointed out that England winger Bukayo Saka handled the ball seconds before Kane shot.

“I am surprised that they don’t go and look and overturn the penalty,” Eriksson said, via Football365.

“According to the rulebook, it is a penalty. In reality, when you have to interpret it, I don’t think it should be a punishment.

“It is a clear hand [from Saka] and it means that no penalty should be awarded to Kane.”

    Eriksson might be wrong though.

Saka’s handball was clearly accidental; the ball rebounded onto his hand, which was in a natural position given the momentum of taking a shot.

However, IFAB rules state that if a goal is scored directly from a handball, then the goal cannot stand.

But that isn’t what happened. The ball hit Saka’s hand, fell to Kane and he shot over the bar.

Kane was then fouled and a penalty awarded after a VAR review.

IFAB say that a handball should be penalised if the position of the hand makes the “body unnaturally bigger and when that position is not the result of their body moving fairly as part of play.” That is not what happened.

HOT NEWS: Meghan Markle Breaks Down as Prince Harry Reveals Her Deceit and Archie’s True Paternity

Meghan Markle faces criticism following the disclosure of controversial details from a recent podcast, adding to her public scrutiny.

In a surprising twist, Paris Hilton shared her thoughts during an interview on Kinsey Scofield’s YouTube channel. The topic of discussion? The Duchess of Sussex’s podcast on archetypes.

Addressing the podcast’s premise of advocating for women’s empowerment, Hilton remarked on the irony of its guest list, predominantly comprised of affluent celebrities.

“I thought it was funny,” she quipped, highlighting a perceived disparity between Markle’s proclaimed advocacy and the podcast’s actual lineup.

Scofield, the interviewer, expressed difficulty in aligning with Markle’s perspective and ventured to inquire about her American Riviera Orchard project’s potential success. Hilton, unexpectedly supportive, forecasted triumph for the venture.

“Yes, I think the American Riviera project would be a success,” she affirmed, attributing it to the divisive yet captivating allure of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Acknowledging Hilton’s stance, Scofield reflected on the polarized opinions surrounding the royal couple, likening public interest in them to that of a reality TV series. The exchange highlighted diverging perceptions of Markle’s initiatives and their potential impact.

This critique comes amid recent revelations that a notable designer declined collaboration with the duchess.

Julian McDonald, a prominent British fashion figure, openly favored the Princess of Wales over Markle at the Fragrance Foundation Awards in London, underscoring ongoing tensions within the fashion industry.

England star 'may need surgery' as major concerns raised ahead of Euro 2024 final

On Wednesday England secured their place in the final of Euro 2024 with a 2-1 victory against the Netherlands.

Gareth Southgate has led his side to the final of a second successive Euros, but it certainly hasn’t been plain sailing.

England have underwhelmed in most of their matches, needing a last-gasp Jude Bellingham wondergoal to avoid a round-of-16 defeat to Slovakia and penalties to get past Switzerland in the quarter-finals.

There has been particular concerns about the performances of stars Harry Kane and Bellingham, who have failed to replicate their club form of last season.

Bellingham enjoyed a superb first season at Real Madrid, scoring 23 goals and providing 13 assists in 42 games in all competitions.

Yet La Liga’s player of the season fell off the boil in the final months of the season, with injuries and fatigue likely a contributing factor.

As reported by Diario AS, Real Madrid Head Scout Juni Calafat attended Wednesday’s semi-final in Dortmund to assess Bellingham.

Madrid reportedly feel that Bellingham is ‘at the limit’ physically, and also fear that he could require surgery on a shoulder injury that has troubled him for months.

Bellingham dislocated his shoulder back in November, and since then he has been playing through considerable pain despite taking painkillers and wearing a NFL-style brace.

While the 21-year-old has not dislocated his shoulder again, he will likely require surgery if the pain does not subside.

According to Relevo, Madrid would prefer him not to undergo surgery as it would keep him out of action for at least a couple of months.

After Wednesday’s match, Calafat spoke to Bellingham’s family in the stands to discuss the player’s fitness.

Bellingham is clearly exhausted; as reported by Football Espana, last season he played 3,644 minutes for Real Madrid, while at the Euros he has missed just 19 minutes of England’s campaign, with two extra times involved in their last three games too.

England fans think Ollie Watkins’ late goal against the Netherlands only happened because of one decision made by Gareth Southgate.

England fans think Ollie Watkins goal vs Netherlands only happened because of Gareth Southgate's '1000 IQ' move

England needed a hero to step up and send them through to the final of Euro 2024, and Ollie Watkins duly obliged.

With England drawing 1-1 with a Netherlands side in the ascendancy, Gareth Southgate brought the Aston Villa striker off the bench with 10 minutes left to play.

In the 90th-minute Watkins latched onto a Cole Palmer pass and riffled a shot into the bottom far corner, sparking wild celebrations on the pitch and in the stands at the BVB Stadion.

England were the better side in the first half after Harry Kane’s penalty cancelled out Xavi Simons’ opener, but as the second half wore on Southgate’s side retreated further and further into their own half.

Kane was offering no outlet whatsoever, so Southgate took a chance on Watkins and was rewarded.

It’s no surprise that Watkins knows where the goal is; last season he scored 19 goals in 37 Premier League games and assisted a further 13.

The 28-year-old scored some superb goals for Villa in 2023-24, but none as important as his first major tournament goal.

However, fans have realised that Southgate probably deserves credit for the goal too.

A highlights compilation has emerged on social media showing the striking resemblance between Watkins’ winner with several goals scored by former Dutch striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

The Dutchman turned out for Leeds, Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Charlton in the Premier League, and at 52 is now part of Southgate’s coaching staff.

The England boss brought the former hitman on board to work with England’s strikers, and he’s clearly had an impact on Watkins.

One fan on X commented: “Just realised how extremely Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink that Watkins finish is,” while another said: “He’s the first player I thought of when that went in now he’s part of the staff.”

England will now take on Spain in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday in Berlin.

Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan has shrugged off the record number of Ofcom complaints that he received during his time on the show.

Back in March, Piers stormed out of the studio after an on-air spat about Meghan Markle with weatherman Alex Beresford which led him to later quit the ITV show and thousands of people to complain to Ofcom.

The 56-year-old pointed out that none of the Government-related complaints against him were upheld, writes The Mirror.

Piers then referred to Meghan as “Princess Pinocchio” as he suggested that complaints made against him for remarks he made about her wouldn’t be upheld either.

Over 54,453 people flocked to Ofcom to complain about the presenter after Piers suggested that he didn’t believe the Duchess of Sussex when she said she felt suicidal during her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

It overtook Diversity’s Black Lives Matter performance on Britain’s Got Talent as the most complained about moment ever.

Piers also bagged the sixth, seventh and 10th places after his interviews with Helen Whateley MP and Victoria Atkin MP.

Sharing an article revealing he had nabbed four spots in the top 10 most complained about moments, Piers tweeted an emoji wearing sunglasses.

He then tweeted a BBC article about the complaints, suggesting that Ofcom had seen “unprecedented” numbers of complaints with Piers attributing to a large portion of them.

Piers wrote in response: “What this doesn’t say is that NONE of the Govt-related complaints against me were upheld, and I don’t expect the complaints relating to Princess Pinocchio to be either. How can @Ofcom possibly conclude I must believe a proven liar…?”

Ofcom confirmed in the report that “in many of the cases above, [they] did not find the issues warranted an investigation”.

A spokesperson added: “We’re a nation of TV lovers, and it’s kept us entertained and informed like never before during lockdown. From time to time viewers see things that trouble them, and that’s where we come in.”

HOT NEWS: Princess Anne announces her intention to assist Harry in ascending to the throne and Meghan becoming Queen: With one condition.

Prince Harry’s recent behavior towards Princess Anne has stirred speculation about tension within the royal family, particularly ahead of an anticipated reunion. According to a body language specialist, Harry displayed unusual gestures towards his aunt at last year’s king’s coronation. With just a few weeks until his next trip to the UK, Harry’s previous visit was marked by signs of nervousness, observed during a significant event where he was seated alongside his cousins, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. Notably, Meghan Markle chose to stay in the US with their children, leaving Harry to attend alone.

Body language expert Judy James noted Harry’s apparent anxiety, citing increased blinking and lip movements, possibly indicative of nerves or heightened adrenaline levels. When Princess Anne approached Harry’s seat, his demeanor shifted, with his head dropping and gaze fixed on her. Despite this, Harry seemed content chatting with his cousins and their spouses, demonstrating a strong bond with them, particularly evident in his interactions with Eugenie and Beatrice’s husband.

Amid preparations for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, Harry is slated to return to the UK for a special event at St Paul’s Cathedral. While Meghan’s attendance remains to be confirmed, both are urged to reconcile and set aside past grievances for the sake of the royal family’s cohesion and growth.

Royal author Christopher Anderson suggests that Harry’s return presents an opportunity for him to contribute part-time to royal duties, easing the burden on other family members, particularly amid King Charles and Princess Kate’s undisclosed health concerns. However, reconciling with Prince William, who is reportedly dealing with Kate’s illness in secret, may pose challenges.

Ultimately, Harry’s potential return could either enhance his value to the monarchy or exacerbate existing tensions within the family. The path forward involves navigating past grievances and prioritizing the collective welfare of the royal household.

Hot news: Prince Harry unexpectedly had his inheritance assets, including a mansion and cars worth $100 million, “confiscated” after daring to refuse King Charles.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle once had a hidden gem of a home in the UK, valued at an impressive £2.5 million, although it’s rarely discussed.

Nestled in the picturesque Cotswolds, this enchanting property served as their temporary sanctuary while they awaited the completion of their beloved Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

The Cotswolds abode was a charming Grade II listed house dating back to the 18th century, featuring three distinct structures.

It included a main farmhouse, a delightful two-bedroom cottage for staff and guests, and a converted barn with two kitchens across its two floors.

The main farmhouse boasted four luxurious bedrooms, one of which was rumored to be transformed into a lavish dressing room befitting royalty.

It was here that Harry and Meghan enjoyed tranquil walks with their beloved dogs and hosted intimate gatherings for their closest confidants, including star-studded guests like Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, and glamorous power couple George and Amal Clooney.

King Charles left in stitches after joke catches him off guard ahead of major speech

Tennis legend Serena Williams and her partner Alexis Ohanian also graced the halls of this hidden haven.

Despite its allure, the Cotswolds property was only a temporary chapter in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s story. Frogmore Cottage, situated in Windsor, was intended to be their permanent residence.

However, circumstances led them to relocate across the Atlantic, closer to trendy spots like Soho Farmhouse and the luxurious country home of David and Victoria Beckham.

Unlike Frogmore Cottage, which held official status as a royal residence, the Cotswolds cottage lacked robust security measures and stood just 200 yards from the publicly accessible Long Walk. This proximity raised concerns about their cherished privacy.

Despite their affection for this idyllic countryside sanctuary, Harry and Meghan were forced to make a swift departure.

Prince Harry expressed his disappointment in his memoir, “Spare the Prince,” recounting how their privacy was violated by intrusive paparazzi, even resorting to helicopters and telephoto lenses aimed at every window, including their intimate bedroom.

BROOKLYN Beckham has begun his three-day, £3million wedding spectacular last night — which is set to eclipse even his parents’ famous 1999 Golden Thrones nuptials.

David and Victoria’s eldest, 23, and Nicola Peltz, 27, will tie the knot today on the bride’s family’s £76million beachside estate in Palm Beach, Miami.

Victoria Beckham and husband David will not pay a penny towards the ceremony — as Nicola’s mega-loaded father is footing it in full
The Sun can reveal the couple are to have a double wedding, with two ceremonies marking the separate faiths of Nicola’s parents. One will be Catholic, a nod to mum Claudia, and the other Jewish, for her dad Nelson.

Aspiring chef Brooklyn — who has said he will wear a skullcap, or yarmulke — is also going to take Nicola’s surname as his middle name.

He was seen arriving last night — along with his parents and his little sister Harper, ten.

The festivities began with a rehearsal dinner, set to be attended by many of the celeb guests. As is traditional, Brooklyn and actress Nicola will part ways afterwards and not see each other until today, when no expense has been spared.

The 300 guests will be treated to limitless £200 bottles of Bollinger champagne and cordon bleu grub, with £50,000 spent on rare orchids to decorate the tables.

And the famously canny Beckhams will not pay a penny as mega-loaded financier Nelson, 79, has insisted on covering the whole event.

His £1.3billion fortune dwarfs the Beckhams’ £380million wad.

Victoria’s ex-Spice Girl bandmate Mel B has confirmed she is going while Emma Bunton and Mel C have also been invited to the celebrity wedding of the year

However Geri Horner has instead flown to Melbourne to support Red Bull-owning husband Christian at this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix.

Chef Gordon Ramsay and family were already there, though the Beckhams’ offer for him to do the food was turned down by Nelson, who has commissioned caterers from Miami.

Rumours were also swirling last night that pop superstar Bruno Mars has been lined up as a secret special act while rapper Snoop Dogg is also said to be performing.

Latino star Marc Anthony will sing while DJ Fat Tony is set to hit the decks. Other guests include actress Eva Longoria, while Prince Harry and Meghan have also been rumoured to be flying in from their LA home.

A ring of steel has been formed around three marquees on the estate, with a police car guarding a beach entrance half a mile away yesterday. A security helicopter has also been seen circling the area.

A white dress, believed to be Nicola’s custom-made Valentino wedding frock, was seen being transported on a golf cart yesterday. Fashion bible Vogue is releasing two live pictures on the big day before a cover shoot for July’s edition.

As well as unlimited amounts of Bollinger, cocktails will flow at a free bar until carriages arrive at 1am.

Meanwhile, residents in Palm Beach revealed £50,000 had been spent on 400 orchids. Hundreds of dollars of white hydrangeas and green cymbidiums were also bought from Flowers of Worth Avenue — one of Nicola’s favourite florists.

Last month, she, Brooklyn and her brother Brad, 32, bought 500 red roses from there for her mum Claudia’s birthday — costing around £4,000. A friend told The Sun: “It’s a daft sum of money to pay for orchids — that’s more than the average salary of Brits in the UK.

“But money’s no object for the Beckhams and the Peltzes even more so. The orchids and most of the other flowers are thought to have been ordered in from another area.

“But it was really sweet of Nicola to think of Flowers of Worth Avenue.

“It’s a small, local shop and the people there are a lovely bunch.”

David and fashion designer Victoria are believed to have arrived at the Peltzes’ mansion yesterday afternoon in a black McLaren car.

This weekend will bring back memories of their own wedding in July 1999, when they tied the knot at a £750,000 Robin Hood-themed bash at Luttrellstown Castle in Dublin.

David, in a white suit, and Victoria, wearing a £100,000 Vera Wang gown, sat on golden thrones at the do, with the four-month-old Brooklyn in attendance.

More recently, ex-England football ace David, 46, has been spending time with son Romeo  in Miami, where he owns a football team.

Romeo, 19, was seen with his girlfriend Mia Regan on his dad’s yacht, Seven, but it left the area early yesterday morning.

Brooklyn was seen looking downbeat on Thursday in a golf buggy with pals while Nicola treated herself to a massage in the week.

Brooklyn, who has revealed he will probably cry on the big day as he is emotional, has signed a prenup.

The couple began dating in October 2019 and Brooklyn proposed with a £350,000 diamond ring in July 2020.

MEGHAN Markle has appeared to have been criticised in a speech by Nigeria’s First Lady over her “nakedness”.

The Duchess of Sussex recently jetted to Nigeria earlier this month for a three-day “faux royal tour” with husband Prince Harry in tow.

Meg, 42, made multiple outfit changes during the “unforgettable” trip where she and the duke met with locals and leaders.

But while attempting to keep up appearances – spending almost £120k on jewellery and new clothes – the former actress’ fashion is said to have offended First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

During a speech to mark President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office, after the Sussexes had landed back in the US, Tinubu appeared to make a sly dig at Meghan.

Addressing crowds, Tinubu said girls and women in Nigeria “do not want to mimic and try to emulate film stars from America” with their “nakedness”.

She added: “The message here is we have to salvage our children. We see the way they dress.

“They keep forgetting that Nigeria, we are beautiful. You can see what they showcase on the stage, I said, ‘We are fashionable, we see what is going on’.

“We are not having the Met Gala. And everyone, the nakedness, is just everywhere and the men are well-clothed.

“So we have to do something. Tell them we don’t accept nakedness in our culture. That is not beautiful. It’s not beautiful at all.

“And they’re all beautiful girls, but they should be confident in who they are.

“They do not want to mimic and try to emulate film stars from America. They don’t know where they come from.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are desperately trying to be a RIVAL royal family to save their image – US tours are next
“Why did Meghan come here looking for Africa? That is something we have to take home with.

“We know who we are. Don’t lose who you are.”

Tinubu has since claimed her words were taken out of context and any criticism was not aimed at Meg.

Her office said: “She meant Meghan appreciates the people we are and hence her coming here.

“At no point did she say anything about Meghan’s dressing.”

Meghan wore a number of high-end brands on the trip, including Carolina Herrera, Altuzarra, and Johanna Ortiz.

Given the extreme levels of poverty in Nigeria, the American has been slammed.

During Harry and Meghan’s trip, the couple visited a warzone, played volleyball and even stood up for God Save The King.

The Sussexes kicked off their “faux-Royal tour” with a visit to Lightway Academy, a primary and secondary school in the capital.

They then visited Nigeria’s defence HQ on Friday to meet military wives and senior officials.

The following day Harry was snapped playing volleyball, before Meghan referred to Nigeria as “my country”.

Speaking at an event in the capital Abuja, the duchess said: “I want to start by saying thank you very much for just how gracious you’ve all been in welcoming my husband and I to this country… my country.

“I am just flattered and honoured and inspired. It has been a whirlwind 24 hours since we arrived.

“And I very quickly got the memo that I need to wear more colour, so I can fit in with all of you and your incredible fashion.”

The Duchess of Sussex recently discovered she was 43 per cent Nigerian, according to a genealogy test.

The next day, Harry tried his hand at basketball, before they finished up their trip at a charity polo match.

They also unveiled a partnership between their Archewell Foundation and the non-profit Giants of Africa, which aims to empower young people through sport.

But in the hours that followed the charity hit headlines after it was reportedly declared “delinquent” and ordered to stop raising money.

It was alleged the charity did not file its 2022 tax return or related costs on time.

However, the docs were filed and the cheque sent but it never arrived, reported The Telegraph.

The Sussexes’ charity last week broke its silence on the alleged cash woes saying it is “fully compliant”.

A spokesperson said: “We have diligently investigated the situation and can confirm that The Archewell Foundation remains fully compliant and in good standing.

“Due payments were made promptly and in accordance with the IRS’s processes and procedures.

“Furthermore, all necessary paperwork had been filed by the Foundation without error or wrongdoing.”

Brooklyn Beckham cooks burgers with processed cheese and people have asked if McDonald’s is hiring

Everyone’s favourite cheese toastie blowtorcher Brooklyn Beckham has been back in the kitchen.

This time, he made burgers… and they’re being compared to McDonald’s (not in the complimentary sense).

The 25-year-old has caught plenty of heat online in recent years for his culinary, erm, skills.

Whether he’s making pasta inside a whole cheese wheel or drowning his chicken in avocado oil, the son of David and Victoria Beckham is an endless meme, with his latest dish causing a stir, once again, for the wrong reasons.

Taking to social media to showcase his latest creation, the budding chef whipped up a homemade burger and fries in a sponsorship with Chosen Foods.

‘Today I’m making a Flying Dutchman,’ he began in the video.

Brooklyn explained: ‘You first start off with grounding your meat, then we cut up some potatoes.

‘Next up is the onion. Two similar sizes so it can be replaced by the bun.’

The former photographer filled a saucepan with ‘pure avocado oil’, fried his potato chips, and tossed them with salt before draining them.

Then came time to plate up his burgers.

As he did so, viewers noticed that not only had he used ‘the wrong type of potato’, but he was also cheating with processed cheese slices.

Nevertheless, he was proud of his creation and facing the inevitable wrath of the internet didn’t deter Brooklyn from sharing the ‘tutorial’ with his 16.4million followers.

People were still incredibly savage in the comments, though.

Instagram user rhona4804 wrote: ‘He could get a job at McDonald’s’.

marycee13 commented: ‘No not the processed cheese slices’.

‘Not the right kind of potato to make fries’, blasted milliciously_me.

Dragging Posh Spice into their criticism, abazilindita wrote: ‘Victoria would throw that in the rubbish right away’.

Surprisingly, though, there was a decent amount of praise for ar Brooklyn too.

Fans defended him from the barrage of hate, hailing his burger as ‘delicious’ and urging trolls to leave him be.

He was also supported by his number one cheerleader, dad David, who reposted the clip to his Story with the text: ‘My boy just loves to cook. Just like his dad’.

VB also joked: ‘He gets it from me!’

Brooklyn’s latest dish comes after he responded to being the subject of criticism online with a totally unbothered attitude.

In a recent interview with Insider, Brooklyn declared that he ‘works [his] bum off’.

He said: ‘To be honest, I’m used to the hate. It doesn’t really bother me. Cooking makes me happy.

When asked what he wishes to say to the haters, Brooklyn replied defiantly: ‘My message to them is to keep writing whatever they want to write. There are always going to be people out there who try and pull you down.

‘I’m doing my thing and working my bum off. So they can keep writing what they want, but it’s not going to bother me — I’m just going to keep doing my thing.’
