EXCLUSIVE: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will tour Colombia later in the year, travelling to the capital Bogota and the coastal areas of the country.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are gearing up for a tour around Colombia, travelling to the country’s capital, Bogota, and the coastal areas later this year.

It comes after the Duke and Duchess received an invite from the country’s vice president Francia Marquez who has plans for the couple to “experience the rich heritage of Colombia”.

Royal commentator and podcast host, Kinsey Schofield, believes the duo are trying to “turn their brand around”. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, she said: “These two have to leave the country to prove that someone out there takes them seriously. If they can execute numerous fake royal tours with the glossy images and staged videos, they are hoping to turn their brand around.”

Referencing their earlier bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Kinsey added: “They want the love and respect they had prior to the Oprah Winfrey interview but continue to shoot themselves in the foot. The public are tired of the pair.”

The Sussexes’ trip to Colombia will be their second official tour of the year after they visited Nigeria in May taking part in a range of activities over three days. The trip was deemed an overriding success.

Details of the couple’s Colombian itinerary have not been released by the Archewell Foundation, their charitable body, but the vice president said they would “engage in several activities” related to safeguarding young people online and in physical spaces.

Kinsey believes Harry and Meghan want to be considered as experts in the field. She explained: “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are trying desperately to be taken seriously as thought leaders. They will travel, no matter what the security concerns are, to any country willing to give them a platform, cater to their ego, and pander to the narrative they’re trying to create.”

Currently, both the UK and US governments warn tourists to “reconsider” travel to the region due to the risk of terrorism and kidnapping. Official UK government advice states: “There is a high threat of terrorist attack globally affecting UK interests and British nationals, including from groups and individuals who view the UK and British nationals as targets.”

The visit was announced despite Harry repeatedly claiming he feels the UK is too dangerous for him to visit with his family.

For the past four years, he has been fighting the UK government’s decision to remove their round-the-clock police protection team. Harry has taken legal action against the government and lost, but was given the green light to appeal that decision in June.

Meanwhile, a statement by the country’s vice president Francia Márquez read: “I am pleased to announce that Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have kindly accepted my invitation to visit our beautiful country.”

Harry and Meghan’s visit will reportedly focus on “cyberbullying, online exploitation and the mental health impacts of these threats” – a cause they have been associated with ever since they stepped down as senior royals in 2020.

The parts of Colombia they intend to visit are all areas now considered relatively safe by the US Bureau of Consular Affairs.

The Office of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex has been approached for comment.

Prince Harry plucked up the courage to ask the late Queen Elizabeth if he could keep his beard on his wedding day – despite it being against protocol.

Prince Harry had to pluck up the courage to ask the late Queen Elizabeth II if he could keep his beard to marry Markle Markle on his wedding day as beards were “forbidden” in the British Army at the time.

King Charles’s youngest son explained that he was initially “stressed” about asking the late Queen’s permission to marry the former TV actress, and then worried about the request that followed.

As documented in the bombshell memoir, Spare, released in January 2023, Harry wrote: “After all the stress of asking Granny for permission to marry Meg, I thought I’d never have the courage to ask her for anything else.

“And yet I now dared to make another ask – Granny, please, may I, for my wedding, keep my beard?”

Harry documents how having a beard was viewed by some as a “violation” of rules if wearing an army uniform and that it was not a “small ask”.

The Duke of Sussex explained: “Not a small ask either. A beard was thought by some to be a clear violation of protocol and long-standing norms, especially since I was getting married in my Army uniform. Beards were forbidden in the British Army.”

To Harry’s delight, the Queen “understood” Harry’s beard made him feel “calmer”. However, Harry claims his bother was “livid” about the decision and reports William as saying: “You put her in an uncomfortable position, Harold! She had no choice but to say yes.”

Prince Harry also added that William “wouldn’t let it go” and that the argument continued “in person, on the phone, for more than a week”.

According to the Duke of Sussex, William ordered Harry to shave his beard off, with the Duke of Sussex asking “why on earth it mattered?”

“Because I wasn’t allowed to keep my beard”, William reportedly replied. Prince William has never responded to the claims or given his side of the story.

Prince Harry also documents a claim William was told to shave his beard: “After he’d come back from an assignment with Special Forces, Willy was sporting a full beard, and someone told him to be a good boy, run along and shave it. He hated the idea of me enjoying a perk he’d been denied.”

Harry went on to marry Meghan Markle on May 19, 2018, sporting a full beard with his army uniform.

In his memoir, Spare, Harry detailed personal arguments he claimed he had with family members, which in turn created a feud between himself and his father and brother, despite stepping down as a Royal Family member alongside his wife in 2020.

Prince Harry’s memoir Spare has become the fastest-selling non-fiction book in the UK since records began in 1998. The much-publicised book sold 467,183 copies in its first week, according to official figures from Nielsen BookData.

However, most of the revelations in the book leaked early after some copies went on sale in Spain several days before the official publication date.

The British Army relaxed its rules on facial hair, announcing in March this year that it was lifting its ban. Soldiers and officers are bow allowed to grow beards while serving in the British Army.

Princess Charlotte’s full name and royal title have attracted the attention of royal fans once again following the youngster’s recent appearances at royal events.

The young royal, 9, bears the resonant full name “Charlotte Elizabeth Diana”. Her middle name is a nod to her late grandmother, Princess Diana, as well as her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Elizabeth also echoes her mum, Kate, who bears the same middle name.

Her first name, Charlotte, is thought to be a tribute to her grandad King Charles, as it is the female form of the monarch’s name.

Prince William and Princess Kate aren’t the only one who have chosen to remember Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana through their children’s names. In 2021, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex introduced their own baby girl as “Lilibet Diana”, with Lilibet being an affectionate nickname used by an inner circle within the Royal Family for the late Queen.

When Princess Charlotte entered the world in 2015, she did so as the great-grandchild of the then-reigning Queen Elizabeth II.

Letters patent issued by King George V in 1917 dictate that the HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) status and the titles accompanying it are reserved for the monarch’s children and male-line grandchildren, and additionally, the first son of the Prince of Wales’ eldest son.

According to this regulation, Princess Charlotte’s older brother, Prince George, would have been the only child in Kate and William’s household entitled to be styled as a prince until the reign of King Charles.

In anticipation of Prince George’s birth, however, Her Late Majesty altered the century-old ruling ensuring that all of Prince William’s children would share equal footing in terms of titles, thereby modernising tradition to reflect contemporary values on sibling equality.

An announcement was made via the London Gazette stating: “The Queen has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 31 December 2012 to declare that all the children of the eldest son of The Prince of Wales should have and enjoy the style, title and attribute of Royal Highness with the titular dignity of Prince or Princess prefixed to their Christian names or with such other titles of honour.”

Therefore, at her birth, Charlotte was automatically bestowed the style of Her Royal Highness and the title of princess. Princess Charlotte does not possess any title of honour in her own right.

As a result, she adopts the suffix of her father’s highest-ranking title for official purposes. Upon her birth, she was styled Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, as her father’s most senior title at the time was Duke of Cambridge.

When King Charles appointed William as the new Prince of Wales following his accession, Charlotte’s title altered again to Princess Charlotte of Wales.

All three of William’s children will simply become known as The Princess Charlotte, The Prince George and The Prince Louis once he ascends the throne.

Meghan Markle reportedly left the Princess of Wales “horrified” over an incident involving a member of her staff.

Meghan Markle left the Princess of Wales feeling “very upset” after criticising one of her members of staff at Kensington Palace, it has been claimed.

The incident, which was likely the ‘start of the end’ of their relationship, involved Meghan bursting into a “foot-stamping” rant, according to royal author Tom Quinn.

Claiming that he has spoken to staff members at Kensington Palace, Mr Quinn told the Daily Star that Meghan felt that she was not being treated as equal to Kate.

The author told the publication: “Meghan and Harry were living in what’s called Nottingham Cottage and it’s probably the only bit that you genuinely really could say, is actually quite small.

“And so I think that reminded Meghan that she was, as it were, second place or as the runner-up.”

Speaking of the incident, he added: “So when Harry and Will got together and sometimes Meghan and Kate as well, because there was this tension occasionally, famously Meghan slightly lost her temper with a member of Kate’s staff in front of Kate.

“And it was that incident, that I was told by someone who was actually there, who said it was really uncomfortable because Meghan just lost it with this person.

“…It was almost as if in that one encounter, it encapsulated for Meghan the problem that she had, that she’s a Princess and she’s number two.”

He added: “She was very successful, coming into this alien environment where people behave towards you according to where you are in the status of who becomes King or Queen next, that’s just alien to her. The way it was described to me was, there were raised voices and foot-stamping.”

Discussing Kate’s reaction, he added: “Meghan asked this person, I know who it was but I can’t say because it will give away my source, who works for Kate who was basically asked to do something by Meghan and said, ‘I’m really sorry I can’t do that because I work for Kate’.

“And Meghan really felt she had been slightly put in her place, because if you become a Princess you kind of assume that staff, when you ask them to do something, they are going to do it.

“She (Kate) was horrified, she was really upset because she’s very fond of this particular member of staff and she thought that Meghan almost bowling out this person was just completely unacceptable.”

Meghan and Harry to enact ‘ultimate revenge on the royals’ with big new move, says expert

Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to embark on a new tour to Colombia – but sources close to the pair have revealed what lies behind the plan

    Meghan and Harry

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new Colombia tour could be the ‘ultimate revenge’ to the royals (Image: PA)

Just four years ago, Harry and Meghan made the shocking announcement that they were stepping away from their royal duties in the UK to start a new life in America.

The couple expressed their desire for “privacy” and “space” to raise their son Archie, but their departure has been marred by a highly publicised feud with the Royal Family.

In a surprising turn of events, the couple recently stepped back into the spotlight to announce plans for a tour of Colombia later this year – a move that has certainly raised eyebrows among royal insiders.

This will mark the couple’s second tour as non-working royals, following their successful three-day visit to Nigeria in May, which was inspired by Meghan’s discovery of her own Nigerian roots.

However, there are concerns that these types of trips do not serve Britain’s interests and could potentially undermine the work of the actual Royal Family. There are also fears that it could exacerbate their ongoing feud with the Firm.

While the full details of their tour remain confidential as they spend quality time with their children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three, it has been confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex will visit Bogota and coastal regions of Colombia, following an official invitation from the country’s vice president and minister for equality and equity, Francia Marquez.

    Meghan Markle CBS interview

The trip will be Meghan’s chance to prove that the Royal Family ‘misses her’ (Image: CBS)

Meghan has expressed her desire for them to “experience the rich heritage” of Colombia and to “further illuminate Colombia’s role as a beacon of culture and innovation,” according to OK!.

However, concerns have been raised about the safety of their trip due to the country’s high crime rates, terrorism, civil unrest, and kidnapping. The UK Foreign Office advises against travel to certain parts of Colombia, while the US encourages people to reconsider their travel plans.

Despite these concerns, it is understood that Harry, 39, and Meghan, 43, will be provided with full security protection during their stay. This decision seems peculiar, especially considering Harry’s reluctance to bring Meghan back to the UK due to security issues.

Despite the negative press following the announcement, a source has spoken about the Sussexes’ excitement for the trip. They claim that for Meghan, this is part of a larger plan to change the negative perception of her.

    Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

If the tour is successful, it could prove to be the ‘ultimate revenge’ against the Royal Family (Image: PA)

It provides her with an opportunity to shine on a public platform, doing the work she loves. “Meghan sees this Columbia tour as her chance to prove to the world what a big star she is and how much the Royal Family misses her,” the source said.

“She knows how much she can turn it on and doing events like this was the one thing about royal life that appealed to her. She was furious when that was taken away because she knows she’s such an asset.”

“She feels her and Harry together really shine when meeting dignitaries and locals, and it helps with the brand and their plan to be the alternative Royal Family. Meghan knows that nobody in the Royal Family can put on a show like her and Harry,” the insider revealed.

“When they left, they asked that they could still represent the family on tours but were told no, so she feels it’s the ultimate revenge as they were both so upset when they were rejected,” the insider believes.

Life in the spotlight is where Meghan typically excels thanks to her acting background (Image: PA)

Amid recent tribulations for the royals, including the loss of prominent figures King Charles and the Princess of Wales due to cancer treatments, the Sussexes appear to have stepped into the breach, with their tour poised to grab headlines once more.

The buzz could intensify if the Sussexes opt to bring their children along, which is a strong possibility.

The Duke and Duchess are set to embark on a significant tour of Colombia, with their agenda including discussions with “leaders, youth, and women”, alongside participating in discussions regarding “cyberbullying, online exploitation and the mental health impacts of these threats,” issues that The Archewell Foundation, spearheaded by the couple, passionately addresses.

Their Royal Highnesses’ Colombian itinerary is just one aspect of their whirlwind schedule. Meghan, in particular, is on the cusp of unveiling her dream enterprise, American Riviera Orchard a brand offering various home and lifestyle products which dovetails with a Netflix documentary speculated to complement the brand’s initiation.

Meghan is keen to end the year with ‘positivity’ claims one insider (Image: CBS)

Adding to their flurry of activities, Meghan and Harry made a notable return to television on CBS for their first joint interview in over three years, seizing the moment to announce The Parents Network. This initiative is designed to aid parents in combating the negative consequences of social media upon children.

In a heart-to-heart conversation with Jane Pauley, Meghan revealed her deeply personal challenges with mental health, confessing, “I think when you’ve been through any level of pain or trauma,” and admitting, “I believe part of our healing journey, certainly part of mine, is being able to be really open about it.”

She reflected further, stating: “And I haven’t really scraped the surface on my experience but I do think that I would never want someone else to feel that way.”

Following a challenging period since stepping down from Royal duties, facing tribulations in establishing themselves stateside and combating an onslaught of adverse media scrutiny, Meghan is keen to turn the page. This tour presents an opportunity for her to conclude the year with positivity.

“At the moment, the Royal Family is lacking representatives and she knows they’ll all be watching on to see how they handle it and what reception they get. Meghan wants to be seen as so much more than a Hollywood celebrity – and feels doing tours elevates her,” believes the insider.

Royal fans may have been swooning over Prince William’s new stubble but he was forced to shave his facial hair many years back, due to royal protocol, according to Prince Harry.

Prince William may have caused a royal fan frenzy with his latest stubble but according to his brother, Prince Harry, the two siblings once had a fiery spat over facial hair, as the heir to the throne was not allowed to keep his due to royal protocol, but his younger brother could.

The Prince of Wales sported a new beard as he joined his wife, Princess Kate, in a sweet new video where they congratulated Team GB as the Olympic Games in Paris came to a close.

William was dressed casually in a polo shirt with Team GB’s logo on it and royal fans could not contain their excitement.

But many years back, he was forced to shave his facial hair due royal protocol, according to the Duke of Sussex.

Harry wrote in his memoir, Spare, that he and William allegedly got into an argument over protocol which left the heir to the throne “livid” just before the royal wedding in 2018.

The Duke claimed that William was furious for more than a week after he was allowed a perk William couldn’t have – a beard.

Harry wrote: “A beard was thought by some to be a clear violation of protocol and long-standing norms, especially since I was getting married in my Army uniform. Beards were forbidden in the British Army.”

The Duke claimed he told the late Queen Elizabeth of how the beard made him feel calmer, to which she replied: “‘Yes’, she said, ‘you may keep your beard’.

“But then I explained it to my brother and he… bristled? Not the done thing, he said. Military rules, and so forth.”

Harry also wrote in his book that William didn’t let go of the argument for over a week before asking him to shave it off before the big day, with the duke asking why on earth it mattered.

It is claimed Prince Andrew is “limited” to where he can go, claims expert (Image: Getty)

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, has reportedly been confining himself within his 30-room Royal Lodge residence in Windsor, primarily to avoid the prying eyes of photographers, it has been claimed.

This retreat into relative seclusion comes as the prince continues to face intense public scrutiny following his alleged connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He has vehemently and repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

Editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine Ingrid Seward told Fabulous Magazine: “The Duke of York is quite limited as to where he can go, because he obviously doesn’t want to be photographed and then subsequently criticized. So his world is very narrow.”

She also added that his two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie consequently bring their families over to see the Duke of York at his home.

She said: “He does see a lot of his grandchildren and enjoys spending time with them. I think because they know that he’s kind of stuck at Royal Lodge, they will go out of their way to go and see him rather than him coming to see them.”

The Duke of York announced he would step back from royal duties in 2019 due to his alleged connections with Jeffrey Epstein and following a Newsnight interview where he was quizzed by broadcaster Emily Maitlis. In the interview, his attempt to address allegations regarding his association with Epstein backfired, leading to widespread criticism and his subsequent withdrawal from royal duties.

Prince Andrew & the Epstein Scandal’ was aired on Newsnight on the BBC in November 2019, and also questioned the Prince’s relationship with Virginia Roberts Giuffre who alleged he sexually assaulted her.

The Duke consistently and vehemently denies the allegations. He reached an out-of-court settlement with Virginia, who had brought a civil case against the Prince for sexual assault. The settlement was not an admission of guilt and Andrew accepted no liability.

He remains living in Royal Lodge, his 30-room property in 98 acres of grounds on the Windsor estate, which he has lived in for over 20 years after signing a 75-year lease.

When he is not at his property, which he shares with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, Andrew spends a lot of his time horse riding in a remote part of Windsor Great Park, where he can avoid crowds.

A royal expert has claimed Prince Harry disliked the idea that his father often turned to his “stable” brother who was less “volatile” when the princes were growing up.

A royal expert claims Charles always turned to his ‘stable’ brother (Image: Getty)

Prince Harry believes his brother, Prince William, has always been seen as the far more reliable prince by his father, according to a royal author.

Author of ‘Scandals of the Royal Palaces: An Intimate Memoir of Royals Behaving Badly’, Tom Quinn, said since Harry was a teenager he always thought King Charles “preferred” William who was less “volatile”.

He told the Mirror: “Harry’s real beef is that he is convinced Charles always preferred William anyway and not just because William is the heir. Harry’s difficulties when he was a teenager and his increasing volatility as an adult terrified Charles who turned to the far more stable, risk-free William.”

The expert added Charles saw William as a “safe pair of hands”. He added: “Charles increasingly saw William as a safe pair of hands and Harry as too emotionally unstable. Deep down Harry knows this and he deeply resents it.”

The distance has grown between Harry and King Charles and Prince William following the Duke stepping down as a working royal in 2020 alongside Meghan Markle, and conducting a series of high-profile interviews detailing his private life within the Royal Family.

Hopes were raised that the royals were starting to fix their relationship after Harry rushed back to the UK after it was announced that Charles had been diagnosed with cancer. However, when Harry returned to the UK for a 10th anniversary service for the Invictus Games at St Paul’s Cathedral in May, there was no meeting between the pair.

King Charles decided not to meet his son Prince Harry in London this week because of Harry’s “cruel” remarks about his wife, Queen Camilla, in his memoir, Spare, a friend of Charles and Camilla has told The Daily Beast.

Observers had thought that father and son could have met today, Wednesday, especially as both had events within just a couple of miles of each other—a ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games for Harry, and the first Buckingham Palace garden party of the year for Charles. But Harry released a statement saying Charles was too busy to see him, with the palace a couple of hours later saying Charles was making Prince William the head of Harry’s old regiment. Harry’s U.K. trip has fast become a snub pile-up.

In Spare, Harry said Camilla “sacrificed me on her personal PR altar,” and described her as “dangerous.”

In remarks to Anderson Cooper on the show 60 Minutes to promote the book, which is estimated to have made Harry some $27 million, Harry said: “With a family built on hierarchy, and with her on the way to being queen consort, there was going to be people or bodies left in the street.”

He also described his stepmother as a “villain” and the “third person in the marriage,” echoing his mother’s controversial interview with Martin Bashir in 1995, when Diana said there were “three of us in the marriage.”

“Harry has made things very difficult for himself by saying such cruel and hurtful things about Camilla,” the friend told The Daily Beast. “Charles loves his sons, but he also loves his wife. The last few months have made it very clear how important she is; she has been the one propping up the whole edifice.
