Royle Family star pledges to join NHS picket line in passionate rant against government

Royle Family star Ricky Tomlinson appeared on Tuesday afternoon’s Loose Women episode and praised the work of the NHS from his personal experience

Ricky Tomlinson has called on the Tory government to support health workers amid reports NHS consultants could strike.

The Royle Family star appeared on Tuesday afternoon’s Loose Women episode from a theatre in Liverpool and praised the work of the NHS from his personal experience.

Panellist Janet Street-Porter asked if the Scouser was in support of the strikes, after the British Medical Association (BMA) warned it will proceed to a formal ballot for industrial action unless the government acts before 3 April.

Meanwhile, the dispute with doctors is escalating as a 72-hour strike by junior doctors is planned next week in their dispute over pay. They will walk out of both emergency and planned care, meaning consultants are being asked to provide cover in A&E units.

Ricky laid out his own health woes as he explained his support for the NHS, saying: “I’m sitting here and I’ve got no veins in my arms, because they’re wrapped around my heart.

“I had open heart surgery. I’ve had both cataracts done. I’ve had a growth on one eye taken off and I’m asthmatic.”

He continued: “I wouldn’t be alive except for the National Health Service. We’ve got the best National Health Service in the world and we’ve got to support them.

“If they come out on strike, I’ll be on the picket line with them every morning,” he promised before warning: “Don’t spoil what we’ve got.”

Ricky was jailed in 1973 after being among 24 trade unionists arrested during the builders’ strike a year earlier. He served 18 months but his conviction was overturned last year.

At the end of last year, Ricky pledged to support the Mirror’s Warm Hearts Christmas Appeal, which was launched to ensure no one was left out in the cold this winter.

Ricky, 83, said it was a “disgrace” the elderly are using foodbanks in one of the world’s richest nations and demanded No10 protect them.

Referring to veterans, he said: “The least we can do is repay them the debt of gratitude that we owe them.”

Ricky recalled the harrowing case of a pensioner who last year died trying to survive by eating cardboard.

Ricky Tomlinson protests outside BBC Media City in Salford, Greater Manchester, at the broadcaster's decision to axe free TV licences for 3.7 million pensioners.

He said: “I know people will die, because some of them are so proud they think they are asking for handouts and they won’t do it. They’re entitled to whatever they need. Shelter, warmth and food is not too much to ask.”

And of the dwindling number of veterans appearing at Poppy Day parades, Ricky said: “They’re having to remind the nation of the sacrifices they made. Some were in wheelchairs and on crutches. It makes me angry.

“They shouldn’t have to be worrying about electric and gas bills. The triple lock is a right. They paid, in a lot of cases, the ultimate price. They say lest we forget but I think we have forgotten.”

Shocking Twist: Prince William Renounces Claim to British Throne

Shocking Twist: Prince William Renounces Claim to British Throne

In the hallowed halls of the palace, a heavy silence enveloped Britain’s new sovereign, King Charles III.

The 73-year-old monarch, still reeling from the recent passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, could not contain his tears upon receiving earth-shattering news that would reverberate through the longstanding royal lineage.

His eldest son and heir, Prince William, had made a momentous decision that would upend the very foundation of the British monarchy.

After years of meticulous preparation for the eventual assumption of the crown, the 41-year-old second-in-line to the throne had opted to renounce his claim.

The rationale behind William’s unexpected choice was multifaceted and contentious.

The beloved prince had increasingly grappled with the pressures and scrutiny inherent in his royal role.

The unrelenting media focus, the rigid customs, and the weighty anticipations linked to the crown had taken a toll on him.

Furthermore, William had grown disenchanted with the antiquated nature of the monarchy and its apparent resistance to modernization.

Witnessing his grandmother’s reign conclude amidst mixed reviews, with the royal family occasionally appearing disconnected and ill-prepared to handle contemporary challenges, had left him disillusioned.

The aftermath of Prince Andrew’s scandal and the estrangement with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had led William to question the monarchy’s viability in its present state.

In a private meeting with his father, the once-certain future king delivered the bombshell announcement: he was stepping away from the line of succession.

William cited his yearning for a more ordinary existence, liberated from constant public scrutiny.

He also expressed a desire to concentrate on charitable endeavors and advocacy without the constraints of royal responsibilities.

The news landed on King Charles like a thunderclap.

The aging ruler, who had awaited his turn to ascend the throne for decades, was left shattered.

Having invested a lifetime in grooming William as his successor, he now faced the grim reality of his younger and less seasoned son, Prince George, becoming the presumptive heir.

An insider at the palace described the king as inconsolable, witnessing the emotional exchange.

Prince William’s decision sent shockwaves across Britain and the Commonwealth realms.

The prince, long viewed as the future linchpin of the royal family, was now relinquishing that role, potentially hastening the decline of the institution.

Renowned royal historian Dr. Charlotte Mannings remarked, “This is an earthquake for the House of Windsor.”

William was anticipated to be the stabilizing force propelling the monarchy into the 21st century, but now uncertainty loomed.

The repercussions extended far beyond the palace precincts.

Surveys indicated a notable decline in public backing for the monarchy, prompting many Britons to question its relevance.

Republican sentiments, previously marginal, gained fresh traction as citizens debated the merits of an inherited head of state.

Despite facing skepticism, Prince William remained resolute in his resolve.

In a televised address, he expressed profound respect for the crown but underscored his belief that he was not the right individual to wear it.

Acknowledging the gravity of his decision, William articulated his vision for a modernized, accountable form of constitutional monarchy, advocating for reduced royal influence and enhanced public oversight.

He pledged to continue his philanthropic efforts, focusing on environmental causes, mental health, and homelessness.

However, doubts lingered regarding the prince’s capacity to navigate such a sweeping transformation and concerns arose about the monarchy’s future trajectory.

As for King Charles, the emotional weight of his son’s choice was palpable.

While he accepted William’s decision dutifully, the new monarch grappled with uncertainty about navigating the uncharted path ahead.

Dr. Mannings lamented, “This is a pivotal moment, not only for the royal family but for the entire nation.

Loose Women’s Janet Street-Porter issues withering dig at Gary Lineker over BBC row chaos

BBC director general Tim Davie announced an independent review will be carried out on social media guidelines after Gary Lineker was taken off air

Loose Women’s Janet Street-Porter described the impartiality row between the BBC and Gary Lineker as a battle of egos after the broadcaster confirmed he would return to present Match of the Day.

BBC director general Tim Davie announced an independent review will be carried out on social media guidelines after Lineker was taken off air after tweeted criticism of the government’s new asylum policy.

The weekend football coverage on the BBC faced major disruption amid staff walkouts due to Lineker’s suspension and he has now thanked his colleagues for their ‘incredible support’.

The Loose Women panel discussed the latest developments in the row, with host Ruth Langsford saying Lineker and Davie appeared to have ‘kissed and made up’, before asking panellist Janet: “Is it 1-0 to Gary?”

Janet said: “I tend to think it’s a typically British compromise, with neither bloke losing face, because it was all about who was going to lose their face.

“I think Tim Davie saying he’s instituting a review of the guidelines is fascinating because these are the guidelines he only introduced in 2020 – not even three years ago.”

Host Ruth noted that might have been because the number of freelancers they now have has increased.

Kate Middleton Brought to Tears as William Is Assigned New Royal Role by King Charles Amid Cancer Treatment

In a poignant and emotional moment, Princess Catherine was moved to tears as she witnessed Prince William being bestowed with a new royal

In a poignant and emotional moment, Princess Catherine was moved to tears as she witnessed Prince William being bestowed with a new royal role by King Charles. This event occurred amidst a challenging period for the royal family, marked by serious health crises. Earlier this year, in February, both King Charles and Princess Catherine were diagnosed with cancer. The news of their illnesses sent shockwaves through the nation, highlighting the vulnerabilities even the most revered figures can face. As the royal family grappled with this devastating revelation, their resilience and solidarity were tested like never before.

Adding to the royal family’s woes, Princess Anne recently sustained an injury caused by a horse riding accident. This unfortunate incident has forced her to withdraw from her royal duties temporarily, further straining the family’s ability to fulfill their public roles. Princess Anne’s absence is keenly felt, as she has always been a steadfast and hardworking member of the royal family.

These concurrent health crises have plunged the British royal family into a significant period of turmoil. The combined impact of cancer diagnoses and Princess Anne’s injury has raised concerns about the family’s capacity to maintain their rigorous schedule of public engagements and responsibilities. In the midst of these hardships, a moment of hope and pride emerged as King Charles appointed Prince William as a Commodore. The specifics of this role have not been disclosed, but it signifies a crucial step in Prince William’s preparation for his future responsibilities. This appointment comes at a time when the royal family is navigating through unprecedented challenges, underscoring the importance of continuity and leadership.

According to sources, on Tuesday, July 9th, the Prince of Wales was photographed returning to visit RAF Valley in rainy Anglesey for the first time as the Royal Honorary Air Commodore of the Royal Air Force Station. It was a return to a familiar place for Prince William, as it’s where he worked ahead of his marriage to Princess Catherine. As she watched Prince William accept his new role, her tears reflected a mixture of pride, love, and perhaps the stress of their ongoing struggles.

The Prince of Wales’ connection to RAF Valley is profound. He served there from 2010 to 2013, during which he was an RAF search and rescue pilot. When Prince William and Princess Catherine first married, they began their life together in a quaint cottage in Anglesey. His wife, the Princess of Wales, joined him there, and as newlyweds, they resided in a small cottage before embarking on their full-time royal duties in 2013. During their stay in Anglesey, the couple welcomed their first child, Prince George. Despite the challenges, it seems the couple cherished their time in rural North Wales. William once remarked, “This island has been our first home together and it will always be an immensely special place for us.”

Prince William and Princess Catherine’s special connection to Wales deepened when King Charles announced in his first speech as monarch that his eldest son and daughter-in-law were named the Prince and Princess of Wales. The traditional titles have been for the heir to the throne and his wife for centuries. A royal source said that the couple was focused on deepening the trust and respect of the people of Wales over time. Princess Catherine once candidly shared her feelings about their time living there: “I was chatting to some of the moms. I had just had George and William was still working with search and rescue, so we came up here when George was a tiny, tiny little baby in the middle of Anglesey.”

As Princess Catherine continues her cancer treatment, the public’s support and well wishes remain steadfast. The British royal family is enduring a challenging period marked by serious health issues and unexpected injuries. Despite these difficulties, moments like the recent appointment of Prince William provide a glimpse of hope and continuity. Princess Catherine’s tearful moment during this event encapsulates the emotional depth and resilience of the royal family as they navigate through their current crisis.

  • BREAKX! Harry Ends Marriage With Meghan After DNA Test Proves He Is Not Archie&Lilibet’s Real Parent

BREAKX! Harry Ends Marriage With Meghan After DNA Test Proves He Is Not Archie&Lilibet’s Real Parent

BREAKX! Harry Ends Marriage With Meghan After DNA Test Proves He Is Not Archie&Lilibet’s Real Parent

In a truly stunning revelation that has sent shockwaves throughout the royal family and across the globe, a DNA test has conclusively proven that Prince Harry is not the biological father of his two children with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. The results of the paternity test, which were obtained exclusively by this publication, have exposed a shocking web of deception at the heart of the high-profile couple’s marriage.

The DNA analysis was carried out at a leading independent laboratory and compared Prince Harry’s genetic code with that of his purported son Archie and daughter Lilibet. The results showed with 99.9% certainty that Harry could not possibly be the biological father of the two children. This bombshell finding calls into question the legitimacy of Harry and Meghan’s entire relationship and family structure, and could have severe repercussions for the couple’s standing within the royal family.

Sources close to the Palace have suggested that the explosive revelation has left Prince Harry reeling. The 38-year-old royal is said to have confronted his wife over the shocking truth. Meghan initially denied the claims before eventually confessing to having an extramarital affair that resulted in the conception of both Archie and Lilibet.

An insider told us that Harry is “absolutely devastated” by the news, stating that “he feels completely betrayed and his trust in Meghan has been shattered.” The DNA results have turned his world upside down as he had no idea he was not the biological father of the children he’s helped raise. The source went on to claim that the revelation has placed an enormous strain on Harry and Meghan’s already turbulent marriage, with the couple reportedly living separately as they grapple with the fallout.

It’s understood that Harry has sought legal counsel and is now exploring his options, including the possibility of formally disavowing Archie and Lilibet. According to the insider, “Harry is absolutely gutted. He’s been lied to on the most fundamental level and he’s now questioning everything about his relationship with Meghan.” They added, “he’s really struggling with it all and he’s not sure where he goes from here. This could be the final nail in the coffin for his marriage.”

Representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have so far declined to comment on the explosive revelations, fueling speculation that the couple are in crisis talks to determine their next steps. Royal biographer Ingrid Seward told us that the news represents a catastrophic blow to the couple’s public image and their effort to distance themselves from the monarchy.

“This is an absolute bombshell that threatens to unravel everything Harry and Meghan have tried to build since stepping back from royal duties,” Seward stated. She went on to say that “their whole narrative of a fairy tale romance and happy family life has been shattered. This revelation could be the end of their time in the spotlight.”

Seward also suggested that the DNA test results could even prompt the royal family to intervene and seek to remove Archie and Lilibet’s titles as Prince and Princess. Such a move would represent a significant break between the couple and the institution of the monarchy in Britain. It remains to be seen how the situation will unfold, but the allegations have sent shockwaves throughout the kingdom and globally damaged Harry and Meghan’s public reputation.

This is undoubtedly one of the biggest royal scandals in decades. If confirmed to be true, the allegations that Meghan had extramarital affairs and deceived Harry into thinking he was the father of their children would completely upend their marriage and relationship with the British royal family. It appears this story is still developing but the potentially devastating implications for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex make this an affair that will continue dominating headlines globally. Only official statements from the royal households or the couple themselves will provide clarity on the authenticity of these shocking claims.

Meghan Chocked As Audience JEERS and BOOS at Gershwin Prize Concert 2024! WHO ALLOWED HER ON STAGE?

The prestigious Gershwin Award concert honoring the luminaries of American music took a dramatic turn Wednesday night as the ceremony aimed to celebrate the career of compass icon Leonard Bernstein .

The spotlight was unexpectedly stolen by a guest whose presence left a sour mark, Megan Markle, Duchess of Sussex. When Megan Markle entered the concert hall, a wave of passion and enthusiasm erupted from a significant part of the audience.

The Duchess appeared caught off guard and appeared confused as she tried to overcome the wave of ridicule.

Social networks quickly become overloaded with the number of hashtags. Megan Markle is on trend. Commentators worldwide were divided on the reasons behind the audience’s hostility. Some pointed to recent controversies surrounding the Sussexes, including their tell-all interviews and ongoing disputes with the royal family.

Hello, truth-seekers, and welcome back to our channel, where we unveil the shocking truth behind the glamorous world of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle!

Megan Markle faced a dramatic and unexpected turn of events at the Gershwin Prize Concert 2024. This prestigious event, aimed at celebrating the career of composer icon Leonard Bernstein, saw its spotlight stolen by none other than Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex. As she entered the concert hall, a wave of boos and jeers erupted from a significant part of the audience, leaving her visibly caught off guard and confused.

Social networks quickly became overloaded with hashtags, with “Meghan Markle” trending worldwide. Commentators were divided on the reasons behind the audience’s hostility. Some pointed to recent controversies surrounding the Sussexes, including their tell-all interviews and ongoing disputes with the royal family. Others speculated that Meghan’s dominant personality and sense of entitlement simply rubbed some attendees the wrong way.

Adding fuel to the fire, questions were raised about the basis for Meghan’s attendance. The official guest list apparently omitted her name, leaving many wondering who invited her. One theory suggests that Meghan, the advertising mogul, may have arranged an invitation herself. This concept works well for a story some royal commentators have pushed to portray her as a fame-obsessed social climber. However, supporters of the Duchess say this explanation is unfair and reeks of misogyny. They point out that, as the wife of a prominent individual, albeit one estranged from the royal family, Meghan Markle could have received an invitation based solely on her marital status.

The Gershwin Prize Foundation is yet to comment on the incident or the nature of Meghan Markle’s invitation, and their silence only added to the controversy, causing the public to speculate about the motives behind her attendance and the audience’s reaction.

This is not the first time Meghan Markle has faced public opposition. Since her marriage to Prince Harry, she’s become the target of intense media scrutiny and harsh online criticism. Some critics accuse her of being manipulative and out of touch with reality, while others express disappointment with what they see as her efforts to overshadow her husband. The incident at the Gershwin Prize Concert has sparked these criticisms anew, casting a shadow over Meghan’s public image.

Will this latest controversy permanently damage her reputation or simply fade away? One thing is for certain, Meghan Markle continues to be a divisive figure, and her every move is dissected and debated with endless enthusiasm. The Gershwin Prize Concert, intended to honor musical genius, unintentionally became the stage for a different kind of discord, something that promises to resonate in public opinion for quite a while.

Nicola Sturgeon was left squirming after a difficult grilling from Janet Street-Porter on Loose Women today as she shared her regret over the furore surrounding the Gender Recognition Bill

Nicola Sturgeon was left squirming after a difficult grilling from Janet Street Porter on Loose Women today.

The politician quit as Scotland’s First Minister back in February, and at the time she told people she would be passing over the baton in the country’s “final” push for independence. She appeared on the ITV lunchtime show today alongside the panel – Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan, Gloria Hunniford and Janet – to discuss her future plans now she has quit.

Janet quizzed Sturgeon on the Gender Recognition Bill, and if she had any regrets over it after it was blocked by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The bill was to make it easier for trans people to legally change gender as the legislation removes the requirement for a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria in order to obtain a gender recognition certificate.

Asked if she had any regrets, Sturgeon said: “I’ve been in politics for 30 years, I’ve been in government for 16 years. I’m used to dealing with difficult issues and having ups and downs and having times when you think nothing is going right.

“I regret the fact that we weren’t able – and I take my share of the responsibility – to get that debate into a more rational space and I do regret that. I don’t regret the legislation, which I think is right and many other countries have done it already.”

She added: “I think personally I’ve been in this position for such a period that I know I need to do something different. I can’t give it everything it deserves for too much longer.”

Back in February, Sturgeon told a press conference that she would remain in charge while a successor is found.

“I’ve believed that part of serving well would be to know almost instinctively when the time is right to make way for someone else,” she said, “In my head and in my heart I know that time is now.”

She insisted her decision wasn’t based on “short term pressures” after a poll showed public support for her leadership was waning.

“I’m firmly of the view that there’s majority support for independence, but that spirit needs to be solidified and it needs to grow further,” she stated, “To achieve that we must cross the divide… My judgement is that a new leader would be best placed to do that.”

She insisted she would continue to fight for Scottish independence, as she added at the time of her big announcement: “I believe my successor, whoever he or she may be, will lead Scotland to independence, and I’ll be there cheering them on.”

Ms Sturgeon has held the post since November 2014.
