Victoria scowled and raised her voice at Beckham while they were vacationing on a $20M USD yacht, what happened?

Victoria Beckham made headlines once again with her latest fashion statement, sporting a stunning red bikini while vacationing in Italy.

The former Spice Girl turned fashion icon showcased her impeccable style and toned physique as she soaked up the sun on a luxurious yacht.

But it wasn’t just Victoria’s glamorous ensemble that caught the attention of onlookers; her husband, the legendary footballer David Beckham,

joined in on the fun, showcasing his adventurous side by taking to the waters on a jetski.

As the power couple enjoyed their getaway in the picturesque Italian coastal town, the paparazzi were quick to capture every moment of their leisurely escapade.

Victoria exuded confidence and elegance as she lounged on the deck of the yacht, basking in the Mediterranean sunshine.

Her choice of a vibrant red bikini perfectly complemented her bronzed complexion, while her signature oversized sunglasses added a touch of Hollywood glamour to her ensemble.

Meanwhile, David Beckham embraced the thrill of the open sea, effortlessly maneuvering the jetski with his characteristic finesse. With his chiseled physique on full display, the former football star navigated the azure waters with ease, his trademark tattoos glistening in the sunlight. As he sped across the waves, a sense of exhilaration and freedom enveloped him, a stark contrast to the intensity of his days on the football pitch.

The Beckhams’ Italian vacation served as a welcome respite from their hectic schedules, allowing them to unwind and reconnect away from the prying eyes of the public. Despite their global fame, the couple appeared relaxed and carefree, relishing each moment spent together in this idyllic setting. Whether savoring intimate conversations over candlelit dinners or indulging in leisurely strolls along the cobblestone streets, Victoria and David savored the simple pleasures of life amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Italian Riviera.

For Victoria, the getaway offered a chance to recharge and rejuvenate, away from the demands of her burgeoning fashion empire. As the founder of her eponymous fashion label, she juggled multiple roles with poise and grace, setting trends and shaping the industry with her distinctive aesthetic. Yet, amidst the whirlwind of fashion weeks and photo shoots, she cherished moments of tranquility spent with her beloved family, finding solace in the serenity of the sea.

Similarly, David relished the opportunity to escape the pressures of his post-football career, embracing the slower pace of life that accompanied their vacation. Since hanging up his boots, the iconic athlete had transitioned seamlessly into various endeavors, from philanthropy to entrepreneurship, yet he always made time for the things that mattered most: family, adventure, and personal growth.

As the sun set on another glorious day in paradise, the Beckhams reflected on the memories they had created together, knowing that their bond only grew stronger with each shared experience. Whether it was Victoria’s radiant smile as she basked in the warmth of the Italian sun or David’s infectious laughter as he conquered the waves, their love and admiration for each other were evident in every moment.

In a world where fame often comes at a price, the Beckhams remained steadfast in their commitment to each other, finding joy and fulfillment in the simple pleasures of life. And as they sailed into the horizon, hand in hand, they knew that their love story was far from over—it was just beginning anew amidst the timeless beauty of the Italian coastline.

Both David Beckham and Victoria are pet lovers. Alongside Simba, Olive, Fig, and Sage are the three cocker spaniels the family has adopted. Interestingly, Fig was Brooklyn’s pet, but the Beckham family took over when he moved in with his wife, Nicola Peltz. Logan, another pooch in the runt, is a specially-trained security dog. In addition to these, the Beckham family has also petted a rabbit and two micropigs.

Their social media accounts frequently feature the couple spending quality time with their children and furry companions. Indeed, it’s quite heartwarming to witness the Beckham family’s affection for their pets.

  • Victoria and Kate’s close relationship was the reason David’s family’s friendship with Meghan broke down, really?

Victoria and Kate’s close relationship was the reason David’s family’s friendship with Meghan broke down, really?

Last month it was revealed how the ex-England star, 48, had accepted an invitation for talks with Charles on becoming a celebrity ambassador for a royal charity.

In particular, Goldenballs is being wooed in the hope he can sprinkle a little stardust on the Prince’s Foundation, which provides skills training to youngsters.

It is a role David is both familiar with and does well, having previously supported Harry with his Invictus Games, and William with both environmental and mental health campaigns.

And according to Sarah Hewson, royal editor of Talk TV, the invitation from the King could be the start of another new royal friendship.

She told Fabulous: “I think David and the King might have more in common than perhaps we might have realised.

“For instance, like Charles, David is an avid beekeeper and he gifted the King a jar of honey that he had harvested after the coronation.

“I certainly think there’s a lot that can be done by them working together. I think that it’s quite an interesting development in terms of David’s history with the royal family – and it’s very clear which side the Beckhams are on.”

Sarah is referring to the alleged feud between the Beckhams and the Sussexes over leaked stories.

Harry reportedly called David accusing him and wife Victoria of the leaks in an “awkward” conversation which left David “absolutely bloody furious”.

Since then, David and Victoria, 49, have appeared to distance themselves from the couple.

But David and Harry’s relationship was once a solid one.

So much so, Harry, 39, asked David to be an official ambassador for the Invictus Games in 2018, and David joined him and wife Meghan, 42, Down Under for the event.

The Inter Miami team president has also enjoyed a good friendship with Prince William, 40, over the years.

In 2020, the ex England star took part in a group video call with Prince William and other sports stars for the royal’s mental health Heads Up campaign.

That summer David and his son Romeo joined William, president of the FA, in the royal box to watch England vs Germany. More recently, David joined Kate and William at the Earthshot Awards in Boston last year.

David even invited the royal couple to his eldest son Brooklyn’s wedding – though a source at the time said William wished them “a great deal of joy but they are unable to attend.”

Talking about his friendship with the brothers in 2012, David said “They’re two people who have grown up in the spotlight and the respect that I have for them, and that people in our country and all over the world have for them, is amazing.

“I have a huge amount of respect for William and Harry because of what they’ve been through from a very young age.

“They’re a credit obviously to their mum and everyone in the Royal Family.”

But while David’s relationship with the brothers appears on the surface to be dictated by work projects, Denise Palmer-Davies, director of celeb PR firm Borne Media, believes David has a genuine friendship with William, and that they have “a real fondness” for each other.

She said: “There is a real fun side to William and David’s friendship.

“There are a lot of in jokes and banter between them – mainly over William supporting Aston Villa which David always likes to make fun of.

“Whenever you look at pictures of them together you can see there is a genuine friendship that runs much deeper than just work.

“There is mutual respect and a real fondness, I think.”

She added: “Their friendship extends out to their wider families too. We’ve seen David and Romeo join William, Kate and George at football matches and I’m sure George has asked David lots about being a footballer.

“As we know, George loves football – we recently saw Kate attending one of his matches and William wants him to be a striker for Aston Villa. George has even had football themed parties at Kensington Palace and we’ve seen the faces he pulls while watching England, so who better to ask about all things football than an England legend.

“Kate also has a behind-the-scenes friendship with Victoria too. We have seen her wear sunglasses from Victoria’s range, and Kate owns one of her Quincy bags. We even saw Kate in a Victoria Beckham midi dress at an event earlier this year.

“They are both incredibly discreet women, but I can imagine they have bonded over their love of fashion and I bet Kate loves Victoria’s wicked sense of humour.”

And as David’s friendship with the King also blossoms, there is talk of how a new partnership might help David achieve his ultimate goal – a knighthood.

David was made an OBE for services to football 20 years ago, while his ex-Spice Girl wife Victoria, 49, was given the same honour in 2017 for services to the fashion industry.

But being called ‘Sir David’ is an honour that he is still waiting for.

Sarah said: “Having a nice cosy dinner at Dumfries House with King Charles certainly doesn’t do him any harm, does it?

“But I think there are benefits on both sides because this role [for David] is for the Prince’s Foundation, the charity that Charles founded as the Prince of Wales, but has not been without controversy.

“With the allegations around cash for honours – where it was claimed a Saudi billionaire was promised British citizenship and a knighthood in return for being a donor – the Foundation needs to be rebranded.

“And who better to do that than a star like David Beckham.”

  • Victoria Beckham delighted fans when she wore a dress and a black tie “stolen” from Beckham’s husband

Victoria Beckham delighted fans when she wore a dress and a black tie “stolen” from Beckham’s husband

On Tuesday evening, everyone’s favourite style icon, Victoria Beckham, dazzled fans with a throwback photograph of herself

and her former Manchester United footballer husband, David Beckham, at a black tie event in Miami.

In the snap, the mother-of-four is wearing a sky blue silk dress from her own collection, which is finally available to purchase online and at her flagship, Dover Street store.

We adore the gown which is the perfect style to wear if you have an informal engagement to dress up for.

The floor-sweeping gown features on ‘As worn by Victoria’ section of her online store and the website describes the style intricately.

“Cut on the bias for a hip-hugging fit, the gathered shoulder cami gown in ice blue crêpe back satin is the ultimate understated, statement look.

Featuring an open back and cross-over rouleau straps that extend into ties, its plunging neckline contrasts with the charm of gathered frills at both shoulders for a sensual take on femininity. The perfect gown for any occasion, it plays just as well with flats as it does with heels.”

We love the icy blue shade; it’s subtle but still gives maximum impact.

The fashion mogul has been loving wearing muted tones lately. For her birthday party in April, the fashion designer’s birthday dress was also from her own collection (obviously) in a beautiful mint pastel green. You would have thought that VB would be the first to wear the special dress but no, it was first debuted by her daughter-in-law, Nicola Peltz Beckham, back in February for Paris Fashion Week!

Nicole wore the famously sheer dress, which featured a sleeveless, high-neck silhouette with an applique lace design at the torso. The actress added some seriously chunky stilettos into the mix. Victoria styled the frock in her own way too; she rocked a pair of black high-waisted underwear and a stack of diamond bangles on her wrist. Sublime.
Victoria Beckham continues to be a fashion inspiration for many, as she recently shared another stunning look on her Instagram. This time, she was seen in a chic black pantsuit from her own collection, paired with a crisp white shirt and black pumps. The outfit exuded elegance and sophistication, perfect for a business meeting or a formal event. The fashion maven has always been known for her impeccable sense of style and her ability to effortlessly mix high-end fashion with everyday classics. Her outfit choices are always on point, whether she is attending a red carpet event or simply running errands in the city. It’s no wonder that she has become a style icon for women of all ages.In addition to her fashion prowess, Victoria has also been making a name for herself in the beauty world. Her makeup line has been receiving rave reviews from beauty enthusiasts all over the world, thanks to its high-quality products and chic packaging. From bold lipsticks to shimmering eyeshadows, her beauty line has everything you need to create a flawless makeup look.As a busy working mother of four, Victoria also knows the importance of self-care and wellness. She often shares her favorite healthy recipes and workout routines on social media, inspiring her followers to live a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle. Whether she is practicing yoga in her backyard or enjoying a relaxing spa day, Victoria proves that taking care of yourself is just as important as achieving your goals.Overall, Victoria Beckham is more than just a fashion icon – she is a multifaceted entrepreneur, mother, and role model. Her dedication to her craft, her family, and her own well-being is truly admirable. • David happily enjoys a “romantic” night in Guy Ritchie’s £50,000 BBQ tent

David happily enjoys a “romantic” night in Guy Ritchie’s £50,000 BBQ tent

He has a long-standing passion for cooking, adopted by his amateur chef son.

And David Beckham showed fans inside his latest cooking extravaganza, as he enjoyed a night inside one of pal Guy Ritchie’s £50,000 BBQ tents.

The former pro footballer, 47, shared a look inside the epic double tent, which boasts a 12-seat table and BBQ alongside a huge grill.

The ‘double tent’ apparently can host up to 20 guests, however David’s evening appeared to be a more intimate affair as he gave fans a look at what he was cooking.

Sharing a snap of his fish in the grill alongside a hearty portion of vegetables, David revealed that the cooking experience was ‘unbelievable’.

David also shared pictures of the outside of the cooker and claimed it was ‘by far the best fish I’ve ever eaten’, while tagging Guy’s brand Wild Kitchens.

Clearly impressed by the set-up, the father of four said it was a ‘thing of beauty’, and also said ‘it doesn’t get any prettier’.

Fans will no doubt be hoping that David’s cooking efforts are better than his son Brooklyn’s, who was recently forced to defend putting a cork in his Bolognese sauce.

He was blasted by fans and experts have disagreed with his unusual technique.

The 24-year-old eldest son of Victoria and David, who has developed a passion for food, took to Instagram on Wednesday to show off his questionable culinary skills.

He filmed himself trying to cook up a spaghetti Bolognese but he came under fire when fans spotted a wine cork bizarrely sitting in his simmering sauce.

Brooklyn then took to his Instagram Stories on Thursday to hit back at the criticism, insisting it is a method used that helps create a ‘more tender dish’.

However, chefs and experts have claimed that the controversial method is widely contested and is used for squid and octopus dishes, rather than for Bolognese.

In his latest post, Brooklyn defended his technique as he shared a sentence from an article which read: ‘More research ensued and we found information that the addition of wine corks added to the cooking liquid ensured a more tender dish.’

However, the Naples Daily News article adds that most chefs use the niche method for octopus dishes, while pointing out that experts have argued about the technique.

It reads: ‘Experts have argued about this method but most chefs and those who regularly prepare squid and octopus swear that there are enzymes in the corks that ensure a more palatable dish.’

Another article clarifying food myths discusses the claim that putting a wine cork to the cooking water of octopus can stop it from becoming tough.

Tim Hilchenbach, executive chef at LSG Sky Chefs, claimed there was no evidence to support it, adding: ‘There is no scientific explanation that the trick works. If you want tender octopus, you need to use the right cooking technique.’

Brooklyn also shared a snap of himself playing ‘Daddy daycare’ with his new rescue puppy Peanut while trying to cook the spaghetti sauce.

As Brooklyn treated himself to a glass of red wine after throwing a good splash in with the mince and carrots, his followers were mystified why the cork was sitting in the pot.

What’s more, others blasted Brooklyn for holding the tiny pooch in a baby papoose over fire safety fears.

One wrote: ‘There’s a cork in your pot and dog hair about to join.’

Another added: ‘The cork is the secret ingredient.’

A third follower chimed in: ‘Why have you thrown the cork of wine into the pot?’

Another warned: ‘That’s not cute, even though your pup is. You shouldn’t have the dog on you when you’re cooking. Boiling liquid could splash onto his face and injure him.’

When asked by a fan, ‘Are you a chef?’, Brooklyn replied: ‘Nope x but food is my passion.’

Brooklyn has shared his passion for cooking on his social media platform – but often gets a good roasting from critics.

Guy first unveiled his £50,000 luxury BBQ on the first day of the Chelsea Flower Show in September 2021.

The director, 54, designed the outdoor grill to entertain celebrity guests all year round at his home, Ashcombe House near Salisbury, Wiltshire, which he bought with his ex-wife Madonna.

He was joined by his ex-model wife Jacqui Ainsley as he launched the fire-table, which featured in his 2019 action-comedy The Gentlemen, at the Royal Horticultural Society’s first ever autumn show.

The BBQ obsessive, who previously admitted to having over 30 grills, has said the Wildtable is a ‘brand new way to cook, gather and eat’.

In the film, which stars Matthew McConaughey, Hugh Grant’s sleazy journalist Fletcher said: ‘So that heats up your knees and cooks at the same time.

‘Ha, you got to show me how to get one of them.’

Guy and Jacqui often host outdoor meals for friends, including the Beckhams, using the grill on their 1,100-acre estate.

Speaking of his love of barbecues, the film-maker, who also directed Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, said: ‘There’s just something about them. I’m a caveman in many ways.’

His firm, The Cashmere Caveman Co, Wild Kitchens, said the Wildtable works by burning charcoal or wood under a glass lid in the centre with smoke drawn away by a flue.

    Prices range from £2,500 for a four-seater to £50,000 for a 12-seater in a kitchen in a dining tent.

He told The Times: ‘Well, we have a company called the Cashmere Cavemen Company.

‘I have a lot of time for cavemen. I like primitive man.

‘But I like the life of a primitive man in a romantic sense – you want to ‘cashmere’ it.

‘You want all the benefits of a very simple, primal natural life, with all the benefits of evolution and technology that we have managed to refine over the past few hundreds or thousand years, so you can have the best version of a natural life.’

  • Being scolded by his wife, Beckham went alone to Iceland to fish, making Victoria worried

Being scolded by his wife, Beckham went alone to Iceland to fish, making Victoria worried

Iceland. Cool or not cool? After that brilliant showing at Euro 16 – so darned cool it’s hot. David Beckham. Hot or not? Hell, yeah; higher on the Scoville scale than a charcoal-seared Scotch bonnet.

Fishing. Not so sure about this one. Cool? No, more like breezy and possibly freezy. Hot? Not unless you’re Hemingway landing a marlin.

But what about Becks fishing in Iceland? Scorchio? No, just a reminder that even hunky, handsome, tattooed demigods eventually segue into middle age. Sigh.

Now a 41-year-old father of four, Beckham qualifies as a young whippersnapper in the fishing fraternity, but judging from the way he’s rocking that scritchy woollen sweater and waders combo, he’s a natural.

There he was in Iceland, staying on a private estate with his family. He could have taken them to admire the lava fields or gone whale-spotting.

Instead, the geezer (yes, that was deliberate) was only off catching salmon. Admittedly, salmon are more glamorous than rudd, if less rock’n’roll than sailfish.

All the same, it’s a sign of things to come; an existential cry for help. Back home, alpha wife Victoria has probably commandeered that classic middle-aged men’s retreat, the garden shed, for pattern-cutting or a walk-in wardrobe for Barley Sugar, the couple’s impossibly sweet daughter. Even a generation ago it was considered a man’s birthright to potter about in the cobwebs, smoking sly fags and listening to the match on a tinny transistor radio, in what was sacrosanct space. But these days the bottom of the garden has either been bought up by developers or is no longer quite far enough from family or mobile phone range.

And so, for those who find playing golf too chatty, there’s fishing. It’s both the biggest participatory sport in Britain and the least sociable, hence its appeal to a man d’un certain age. On the terraces, he is subsumed into a seething mass of fans. Watching cricket, he’s with his mates. To fathom why a man goes fishing, you have to understand it’s not fish he’s after. He thinks it is (or he wants you to think he thinks it is). Fishing is less about wrestling a monster carp into submission than silence, stillness, the absence of (don’t judge him) everybody he loves.

For men in their middle years, in the grip of early-onset grumpiness, fishing is also an expression of and outlet for their last batsqueak of optimism. To the casual observer they might look morose, but deep down they genuinely believe that they will bag a pike if they just hunker down on the bank or in a boat for long enough. For wage slaves everywhere, there is something gloriously atavistic about fending for themselves, Britain’s idiosyncratic catch-and-release gentlemen’s agreement notwithstanding. Every time a chap rootles through his maggots or fixes a lure on his line, he is Man Taming Nature. Eating his sandwich? He’s channelling The Revenant. It might sound silly, but woe betide the woman who says so. As the adage goes: give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and you’ll get rid of him every weekend.

  • Beckham admitted he and Victoria didn’t talk to each other for a year before finding a way to warm up their married life.

Beckham admitted he and Victoria didn’t talk to each other for a year before finding a way to warm up their married life.

David Beckham has reflected on his relationship with wife Victoria and admitted they both wondered how they have made it given all that they’ve been through.

The former Manchester United and England footballer, 49, and Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer, 50, have been together for 27 years and will celebrate their silver wedding anniversary in July.

They got the chance to revisit some the highs and lows of their almost three decades together while making Netflix docu-series Beckham last year.

While acknowledging it was “emotional” for them to watch, David said he is grateful that they have a beautiful and family and are still happy despite all the “ups and downs”.

Appearing on the latest edition of the SmartLess podcast, which goes on general release on Monday, May 20, the dad-of-four said he is “so happy” at where his life is now.

He said: “That’s one of the things we both, me and Victoria, probably both get emotional about, and after watching the documentary after everything was over and we watched it finally,

that’s the one thing that we looked at each other and was like, “I don’t know how we got through the last 27 years, but we did and we have an amazing family, amazing business and we’re happy.”

“And yeah, of course, when you’re with someone for that amount of time, of course you have your ups and downs, everybody knows that and at the end of the day we were lucky because we had each other at those moments.

“You know, she was a Spice Girl, I was playing for Manchester United, and even when we were going through the difficult times, we actually had each other to feed off and that was the best part.

“Obviously we were 21 and 22 when we met. We got married when we was 23 and 24 and we had our first son when I was 23, so as soon as we had our first son, Brooklyn, that also added another layer to the family and our responsibilities then were to our son.”

David, who retired from professional football in 2013, says he considers himself “blessed” and “lucky” to have been able to enjoy a successful career in tandem with being a father.

He said: “I’m so happy. I am very happy because I feel very blessed to have had the career that I’ve had and played for the teams that I have and experienced that.

“And the one thing that I always wanted for me, I was lucky I met Victoria when I met her because I always wanted to have kids young.

“I always wanted to have kids that lived through my career with me and I was lucky the three boys all lived through most of the teams that I played for and that, for me, was a really important part of my life.”
David Beckham and wife Victoria recently reflected on their long-lasting relationship, acknowledging the ups and downs they have faced over the past 27 years. Beckham’s film causes a storm when it reveals Depression, obsession with cleanliness and why Victoria is unhappy in Spain

The former soccer player just premiered a four-episode series on Netflix in which he goes over his career and life; a story marked by self-demand and media pressure

A man appears on screen, his back to the camera. He is dressed as a beekeeper. He could be any enthusiast of the production of honey, but his neck tattoos give him away: he is David Beckham.

Thus begins the documentary series in which the former soccer player, at 48 years old, decided to examine his own story.

So much has been written and discussed about his professional career and his private life, that one would not think there could be anything left to find out,

but the four episodes of just over an hour each (premiered on Wednesday, October 4 on Netflix),

prove the opposite – especially because much of what has been written and discussed did not come directly from the source.

The revelations are told by the protagonist, looking straight at the camera; but also by his wife, Victoria Beckham, an essential part of the story of the former captain of the English team. One’s life cannot be understood without the other’s, and both have become an essential part of the pop culture of recent decades. As Anna Wintour says in the simply titled Beckham: “When you have two equally charismatic people, it doubles the volume, it puts the heat factor way up.”

His childhood, his beginnings at Manchester United, how his love story with Posh Spice began, why Victoria Beckham never liked living in Spain, those headlines about cheating… it is a story filled with photos and videos from his personal archives, as well as the statements of David Beckham’s parents and some essential figures from his career, such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Eric Cantona, Gary Neville, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo, Figo and Florentino Pérez.

Yes, there is a lot about soccer. But you don’t have to like this sport to know who David Beckham is, and if this series proves anything, it is that the public’s interest in him goes far beyond his role as a successful athlete. These are some of the most revealing parts of the documentary series directed by Fisher Stevens, the winner of an Oscar for Best Documentary in 2010 (although today he is best known for his role as Hugo Baker in Succession).

    His childhood

“Be honest – what car did your dad drive you to school in?” David Beckham asks his wife from the door as she states that they both come from humble origins and working class families. She is reluctant, but he asks her several times, wanting to show that she is not being entirely sincere. “A Rolls Royce,” the former Spice finally says.

The first episode, full of photographs of little Beckham on and off the field (almost always with a ball at his feet), focuses on how, for him, becoming a soccer legend was not a matter of luck. “His dream was to have a son that played for Manchester United,” he says about his father. In fact, his middle name is Robert, after the soccer player Robert “Bobby” Charlton. His father also admits that he was harsh when David was a kid, but adds that it “turned out to be the right thing.” He was not one of those parents that encourage their children even when they fail; he made him repeat the corner kicks over and over again. His logic was: if he told him he was good, then he would have stopped trying. In fact, concerned about little David’s height, there was a time when he gave him a Guinness beer and a raw egg every week to help him grow. Today he is a proud dad who treasures his 1,400 videos of his son playing.

    His whims

When you grow up in a humble family and start making money, two things can happen: you might save it, or you might spend it on whims. David Beckham’s case is the latter. “I signed a contract with Adidas for £50,000 and I went and bought an [BMW] M3 – for £50,000,” recalls one of the first soccer players ever to sign contracts with brands, back in the 1990s. He liked to buy the best cars, the best watches. “David used to get his salary on a Friday, spend it on a Saturday, and then spend the next five days waiting for his next salary to get the jeans to match,” says his former Manchester teammate Phil Neville.

His current whims include his bees, LEGO bricks and the house he bought in the countryside, where he likes to go on walks. Judging by what is seen in the last episode, it may also be his closet – or, rather, closets: he has one for t-shirts, shirts, sweaters and jackets, another for suits and a third one for pants. All this, and a clothing rack where he prepares all his looks for the week, too.

    His love story

David Beckham saw Victoria (then Adams) on television, and right then he said he was going to marry her. At least that is how Gary Neville remembers it. They met shortly after at Manchester United’s stadium and began a relationship that they managed to keep secret for about three months. At first, he recalls, they met in parking lots to avoid being discovered. Their first kiss took place in a parking lot, in his BMW. When their relationship became public, they aroused so much interest that two of the paparazzi who used to follow them everywhere (and who today claim that they would not act as they did back then) even speak in the documentary on several occasions.

“Football came first, and all of a sudden it wasn’t,” his mother remembers about her son’s then new partner. They both spent hours talking on the phone. “I didn’t care when I saw her, how much I saw her,” he recalls. “If it was me driving down to London to see her for seven minutes, I did it.” In fact, Sir Alex Ferguson, his coach at the time (and whom Beckham considers a second father) thought that she was a distraction that was going to ruin his career.

Their happy ending is history: OK! Magazine paid £1 million ($1.6 million at the time) for the exclusive rights to their wedding, held on July 4, 1999 at Luttrellstown Castle. A video shows him nervously getting dressed (he admits to the camera having gone to the bathroom about 50 times). She wore a Vera Wang dress then valued at $100,000. “What were we thinking?” he says about the two matching purple outfits they wore afterwards. As for the thrones they sat on during the reception, Victoria claims to have no idea where they came from. Their honeymoon was cut short; while they were at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s house in the south of France, the coach called him because he had to go train.

Their first child, Brooklyn, had already been born before their luxurious wedding, and the documentary reveals a fact that could have been decisive in his career. Victoria called him to tell him that she was pregnant the day before a match between England and Argentina in the France 1998 World Cup; a match in which he was sent off for kicking Diego Simeone, a red card that made him the most hated man in his country when the national team lost and was eliminated (even the coach, Glenn Hoddle, publicly blamed him for the defeat).

    His worst moment

Victoria says that her husband was “clinically depressed” due to all the attacks from the press and the fans after his performance at the World Cup. The daily harassment included spitting and people shaking his car; even an effigy with his name hanging outside a pub. Someone sent a letter with a bullet to the Manchester headquarters. “I wasn’t eating. I wasn’t sleeping. It took a toll on me that I never even knew myself,” he says. Still, he never publicly denounced it or talked about how he felt; in the late 1990s, a person’s mental health problems were kept hidden. Even more if you were world famous. Diego Simeone also appears in the series, explaining that, for him, that foul did not deserve a red card. One cannot help but think that his rival’s life would have been quite different had he said so at the time.

His parents’ anger over how their son was being treated was such that during one of their trips to accompany him to a game they charged their dinner to the room of a reporter from The Sun, recalls Bekham’s mother, adding a touch of humor to one of the hardest stages of her son’s life. Meanwhile, he explains that he felt the constant need to do something to correct what happened. Eventually he did and, as so often happens in sports, the same people who vilified him turned him into a national hero again when he scored a decisive goal against Greece in the 2002 World Cup. If he shaved his head, the children shaved theirs. If he got a mohawk, the children followed suit.

Victoria Beckham never said that Spain smelled like garlic

“When I first moved to Spain, it was difficult because I had been part of a club and a family for my whole career, from the age of 15 to when I was 27. I was sold overnight. The next minute I’m in a city where I didn’t speak the language. More importantly, I didn’t have my family,” he remembers, regarding his signing for Real Madrid in June 2003.

Victoria Beckham was not happy in the Spanish capital, and she tells it in detail. “We had a family we had to think about. I had two children, Brooklyn and Romeo, and this is what nobody seemed to take into consideration, when I was getting criticized for not being in Spain from the beginning. A kid has to go to school. I knew I couldn’t move until I had a school for Brooklyn. But everything was fabricated, taken out of context. It was never about Spain,” says the designer. Things got worse due to pressure from the paparazzi after the first reports of her husband’s alleged infidelity were published. “It was a nightmare. From the minute we opened the door in the morning, the press were there in cars and everywhere we went, we would get followed,” she says. “It was an absolute circus.”

“There were some horrible stories which were difficult to deal with. It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage,” he recalls. When asked if that was the most difficult moment of her marriage, Victoria replies: “It was the hardest period for us. Because it felt like the world was against us. And here’s the thing; we were against each other, if I’m being completely honest. You know, up until Madrid sometimes it felt like us against everybody else. But we were together. We were connected. We had each other. But when we were in Spain, it didn’t really feel like we had each other either. And that’s sad. I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me.” He adds: “Every time we woke up, we felt there was something else. And I think we both felt at the time that we were not losing each other but drowning. Victoria’s everything to me. To see her hurt was incredibly difficult. But we’re fighters. And at that time we needed to fight for each other, we needed to fight for our family. And what we had was worth fighting for. But ultimately, it’s our private life.” Perhaps the documentary does not delve deeper into this matter or even mention the name of the personal assistant with whom he had the alleged affair (Rebecca Loos, how could we forget), because it is co-produced by Studio 99 and — surprise, surprise — David Beckham is one of its owners.

“I was so relieved to be going from such a tricky situation in Spain. [Los Angeles] was a place where everything was just so much easier. Easier to find a house, easier to find a school. You don’t have a language barrier. And so for me, it was all my dreams come true,” says Victoria of her departure to the Californian city after David signed with the Los Angeles Galaxy. And no, she assures, she never said that she hated Spain because it smells like garlic, even if the Spanish edition of Vogue claimed that she did at the time.

    Other revelations

Another of David Beckham’s hobbies, aside from honey, is LEGO; one of his obsessions is cleanliness and order, something that is evident at various times. “When everyone is in bed, I go around the house, clean the used candles, turn on the switches so they are properly aligned and make sure everything is tidy,” he explains. A fixation that follows him all the way to his closet (where he stacks his shirts by color and diagonally, so he can see them all) and the barbecue area of his country house, which he cleans alone after a gathering with the family.

That is the only time his children appear in the series. His daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz — the wife of his first-born son — appears in the background, somewhat out of focus, and Romeo is not present at that meal either. However, he does appear at the end of the documentary, playing soccer with his father, in his house’s field. Then history repeats itself: Beckham makes him — the only one of his four children who seems to have the slightest intention of following in his footsteps — throw the ball again and again.

“I probably didn’t realize half of what I talked about until I sort of started this, what should we call it? This therapy? I feel at peace with a lot of what maybe in our first session was still a lot of pent up anger, frustration. I understand it now,” says Victoria Beckham at the end. Therapy is also the word of choice for the main protagonist: “[This] has been some form of therapy.” His conclusion? That nothing is more important than his family. They have been married for 24 years, and counting.

With his £31m Holland Park mansion just around the corner, the sportsman had popped out to his local butchers in a 4×4 Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

But, upon leaving, he was mobbed by devotees asking for pictures.

One very excited fan was even be seen leaving his taxi and chasing David down on foot, to which the Salford City co-owner happily agreed to.

David was understandably in a good mood as, just weeks ago, he was made a charity ambassador by King Charles — giving his knighthood credentials a boost.

The royal appointment was announced on 1st June, with the thrilled former England football captain telling of his “excitement” at teaming up with the monarch.

A photograph of the pair laughing helplessly together at the King’s estate — with Becks dressed like a country gent — was also released.

The move came after The Sun on Sunday revealed how the pair bonded over a jar of honey during a recent private meeting at the monarch’s Gloucestershire residence.

Ex-Manchester United ace Becks surprised the King, 75, last year with a jar of his homemade honey then chatted about their passion for beekeeping.

Nature-lover Charles was also impressed by Beckham’s knowledge and passion for the countryside.

Now the father-of-four has been formally appointed as an ambassador of The King’s Foundation — the monarch’s charity founded in 1990.
King Charles meets David Beckham at Buckingham Palace after giving star top charity ambassador role
A source said: “The King and David Beckham have really bonded over their similar interests.

“This is a massive thing for him and he’s delighted. He is really passionate about his new role.”

The Foundation focuses on “creating better communities where people, places and the planet can coexist in harmony”.

Charles invited Beckham to Highgrove to learn more about the charity, and the former footie star met woodworking and embroidery students.

Tours of the grounds help to fund workshops and courses in traditional skills and crafts.

A new education centre has also been built which provides training in traditional industries such as woodcarving, stonemasonry and textiles.

Beckham, who lives in the Cotswolds with his fashion designer wife Victoria and his family, said in a statement: “I’m excited to be working with The King’s Foundation and to have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the charity’s work.

“I’ve always been keen to help young people to expand their horizons and I’m particularly looking forward to supporting the Foundation’s education programmes and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature.

“Having developed a love for the countryside I’m also on a personal mission to learn more about rural skills which is so central to the Foundation’s work.

“It was inspiring to hear from The King about the work of His Majesty’s Foundation during my recent visit to Highgrove Gardens — and compare beekeeping tips.”

Beckham presented the King with his honey gift last May at a British fashion awards event in central London.

And the present seemed to delight Charles, who has beehives at his estates.

Beckham turned to beekeeping during the Covid lockdowns and built a £500 hive at his country home.

In October last year The Sun revealed how he had accepted an invitation to dine with King Charles.

The meeting helped the monarch “suss” out the star and they discussed him becoming a celebrity ambassador for the charity.
Beckham had served a similar role for Prince Harry’s Invictus Games.

But he has since distanced himself from the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan after they moved to the States and trashed the Royal Family.

Sources say it’s an “open secret” that the former Real Madrid midfielder wants to become “Sir” David Beckham.

He was made an OBE for services to football 20 years ago while former Spice Girl wife Victoria, 50, was given the same honour in 2017 for her work in the fashion industry.

Beckham is a renowned royalist and famously joined the massive queue to see Queen Elizabeth lying in state in Westminster Hall after her death in September 2022.

Buckingham Palace is believed to be hoping that he will bring some of his global appeal and star power to the operation.

Kristina Murrin, chief executive of The King’s Foundation, said: “We are delighted to welcome David Beckham to The King’s Foundation family as an ambassador.

“We look forward to working with David over the coming months and years, to share the good work of the Foundation with a wider audience.”
