My all-time favorite theater review was for a play titled Why?

The critic wrote one word: “Exactly.”

I thought of this when I heard that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be embarking on a four-day trip to Colombia next Thursday.

They are coming at the invitation of the country’s first black vice president, Francia Marquez, who enthused that the rebellious royal duo “have the exceptional opportunity to connect with elders, youth and women who embody the aspirations and voices of Colombians… and highlight Colombia’s role as a beacon of culture and innovation.”

Meghan and Harry are no longer real royals these days.

They do not perform any real duties for the institution that gave them their title. They only fill their pockets with money in America by constantly smearing their family and the monarchy in the media.

What then gives them the right to travel the world and pretend to be real royals, on quasi-official visits?

 

There is so much wrong with this idea.

First, the laughable hypocrisy of going to one of the most dangerous places in the world – both the British and US government websites warn travellers to Colombia of the increased risk of terrorism, kidnapping, rape and robbery – after all of Harry’s whiny demands for taxpayer-funded royal security whenever he comes to the UK to “protect his family”.

Second, their decision to support the Colombian government, which has been plagued by scandals since it came to power.

President Gustavo Petro, a radical socialist who once led a rebel guerrilla movement, saw his foreign minister suspended over alleged corruption, his son Nicolas accused of stealing money from drug traffickers meant for his father’s presidential campaign, and his brother Juan accused of demanding payments from jailed drug dealers in exchange for legal benefits from the government.

 

Petro was also recently accused of cheating on a transgender TV host.

As for his vice president, there is growing public anger at her hypocrisy. She is Colombia’s Minister of Equality and at the same time uses luxury helicopters as taxis and spends millions on a new house, where she now lives instead of her official residence.

Opposition politician Miguel Polo Polo posted on X: “Francia Marquez is the biggest fraud in our black community.

“She has been in power for two years and has done nothing, just played the victim and traveled around in helicopters.”

Does this sound familiar?

But what irritates me most is the Sussexes’ delusion that they can somehow operate as a rival royal family on the world stage, enjoying all the perks of royal status but without having to honour their obligations to king and country.

It is completely unacceptable and untenable for estranged members of the royal family to undertake these types of official trips.

The King should strip Meghan and Harry of the titles they so cynically trade, and he should instruct palace officials to tell the leaders of foreign governments to stop extending formal invitations for such trips to this greedy and two-faced couple who want both the royal and the royal.

The British High Commissioner Richard Montgomery confirmed the Sussexes were not visiting Nigeria on official business, but royal author Tom Quinn claims the visit seemed to be “a bold statement that they refuse to accept they are no longer working royals.”

According to the expert, the trip left Charles and William “scratching their heads” and thinking of ways to “control this nightmare situation” as Mr Quinn noted: “When you look at what Harry and Meghan got up to on their Nigeria visit it is easy to see why the senior royals are worried. Everything you might expect from an official royal visit was there – the receptions, the visits to schools and charities, to wounded soldiers and the disabled.

“Meghan and Harry’s speeches and their whole attitude has been designed to give the impression that they are still fully paid-up royals and William and his father King Charles don’t like it one bit. For Charles and William, it’s as if Meghan and Harry are saying, ‘We don’t need your permission to be working royals – we will do it on our own terms whenever and wherever we like.’”

The fashion mogul, 50, shared a video to her Instagram Stories of her retired soccer star husband, 49, planting pink roses on one of their properties on Saturday, June 8.

Queen Camilla Says King Charles ‘Won’t Slow Down’ and ‘Do What He’s Told’ amid Cancer Treatment

Both Stewart and Beckham presented prizes at the awards, which fell a week after it was announced that the soccer star signed on as an ambassador. On June 1, The King’s Foundation shared that the retired soccer star was taking on the job and recently visited the monarch at Highgrove Gardens in Gloucestershire to learn more about the organization and check out some of the charity’s educational programs at workshops. The King’s Foundation offers educational courses for around 15,000 students each year, as well as health and well-being programs for another 2,000 people annually.

Other offerings include regeneration projects across the U.K. and overseas to revitalize communities and historic buildings.

“I’m excited to be working with The King’s Foundation and to have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the charity’s work. I’ve always been keen to help young people to expand their horizons and I’m particularly looking forward to supporting the Foundation’s education programs and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature,” Beckham said in a statement at the time.

On June 11, The King’s Foundation Awards included live demonstrations of some of the charity’s educational programs like furniture making, woodworking and embroidery, plus architecture and placemaking work. Saturday appears to be abs day in the Beckham household!

On Saturday, June 22, David Beckham posted a series of videos on his Instagram Stories of himself using a pull-up bar to sculpt his abs by doing crunches.

The soccer icon, 49, performed his workout shirtless, with his muscles and tattoos on full display. He wore only navy blue shorts, turquoise sneakers and tube socks.

Beckham tagged coach Bobby Rich in his social media post, thanking him for the toning workout.

The Beckham family is living la dolce vita on a yacht vacation!

David Beckham, Victoria Beckham and their son Romeo were all spotted aboard a luxury watercraft, anchored off the coast of the Italian island of Sardinia on June 30.

The family enjoyed soaking up the sun in their swimsuits, splashing around in the Mediterranean Sea and — in 21-year-old Romeo’s case — zooming around on a jet ski.

David, 49, sported only a pair of green swim trunks throughout the day as he stood fresh from the water on deck, stretching and taking in the scenery. He also hung out topside with Victoria, 50, who sported a pale dress and a large floppy straw hat for some sun protection.

David and Victoria’s other children — Brooklyn, 25, Cruz, 19, and Harper, 12 — did not appear to join them on the excursion, but the family have all enjoyed some epic vacations together in the past.

Yachting is one the family’s favorite ways to gather. They got together on a luxury vessel for Easter this year with Harper, Cruz, Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham.

Victoria also celebrated her 50th on a yacht in April with famous friends like Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber in tow.

In 2023, Cruz and Harper joined their parents on a Canadian lake vacation in Muskoka, where Victoria showed off her impressive waterskiing skills. Last summer, they also decamped to Croatia for a luxurious getaway. “Family time is everything,” Victoria wrote of the trip.
