Guy Ritchie was supported by his close friend David Beckham and his wife Jacqui Ainsley at the premiere of his new series The Gentlemen on Tuesday.

The filmmaker walked the red carpet at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London in support of his new Netflix series, based on the 2019 film of the same name.

Guy, 58, looked dapper in a navy blazer which he paired with a white shirt, tan trousers and brown shoes.

He was joined by his pal David Beckham, 48, who looked suave in a in a black suit with a navy tie and light blue shirt.

Guy’s wife Jacqui, 42, cut a trendy figure in a black blazer along with a matching mini skirt and tie which she paired with a white shirt.

Also sporting a pair of black heels, the model completed her look for the star-studded event with matching tights.

Guy and David have been friends for years and are co-owers of The Walmer Castle pub in Notting Hill which they purchased in a £3million deal.

They also previously went on a lads’ trip to Iceland together and David made an appearance in Guy’s 2017 film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

Earlier this year, David and his wife Victoria spent the night in one of Guy’s £50,000 BBQ tents in what he called an ‘unbelievable’ experience.

Speaking about his friendship with David on The Graham Norton Show, Guy said: ‘We are sort of mates – our children go to the same school, we drink in the same pub and we go to the same gym and one thing led to another.

He added: ‘I love him, he’s on the same frequency as me and it made sense for him to be in the film [King Arthur: Legend of the Sword].’

In The Gentlemen, Theo James portrays Eddie who inherits ‘his father’s sizeable estate only to discover’ its a ‘weed empire owned by the legendary Mickey Pearson’.

Of the new production, Guy said: ‘The world of ‘The Gentlemen’ is a little bit of me, I’m thrilled that with Netflix, Miramax and Moonage we have this opportunity to inhabit it once again.

‘We’re looking forward to bringing fans back into that world, introducing new characters and their stories and I am excited to be doing it with this extremely talented cast.’

As well as creating the TV series adaptation, Guy also directed the first two episodes.

The 2019 movie starred Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Michelle Dockery, Colin Farrell, Jeremy Strong, Henry Golding, and Hugh Grant among many others.

It proved to be a box office success, grossing just over $115 million against a reported budget of $22 million.

In the film version, Mickey Pearson (played by Matthew) was a drug lord that tried to sell off his profitable marijuana business to a dynasty of billionaires.

On the back of her trip, and in support of World AIDS Day on Tuesday, Mrs Beckham has created a limited-edition key ring, priced at £165, and a T-shirt, which costs £90, featuring exclusive artwork.

As the award-winning fashion designer is a UNAIDS Global Goodwill Ambassador, all proceeds from the sale the items will benefit the initiatives and organisations supported by UNAIDS.

Speaking about her charitable aims, the former Spice Girl said: ‘The world has committed to end the AIDS epidemic as part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and I truly believe this is a real possibility.

‘We have come such a long way in the fight against AIDS. Huge global efforts have created proven results, and more and more people are accessing treatment and prevention services. But we are not there yet.

‘There are still people being left behind due to gender inequalities, stigma and discrimination and lack of resources,’ Mrs Beckham, Who was honoured for her humanitarian work with UNAIDS at the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards this month, added.

‘In my role as a UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador I am proud to take a stand, speaking up for change and pushing on towards our common goal of ending AIDS.’

UNAIDS and Victoria have also released a short video documentary to raise awareness on HIV and AIDS.

Today 37 million people are living with HIV around the world and 2 million people are newly infected with HIV every year.

Mrs Beckham has been involved in the response to HIV for more than a decade. In 2014 she was appointed a UNAIDS International Goodwill Ambassador to help raise awareness and funds towards UNAIDS strategy to end the AIDS epidemic as a public health threat by 2030.

This is by no means the first of Victoria’s charitable endeavours.

In February last year, following an invitation from Vogue editor Anna Wintour and American Vogue to visit South Africa, Victoria met mothers2mothers (m2m) founder, Dr. Mitch Besser.

The charity trains, employs and empowers Mentor Mothers, who are mothers living with HIV, in order to educate them on how to prevent the transmission of HIV from mothers to babies and improve the health of women and their families.

Victoria was so moved by the experience that she wanted to do all she could to raise money and awareness.

Speaking about the cause at the time, she said: ‘After spending just a few days with these remarkable women and learning more about the charity from Mitch, and his lovely wife Annie Lennox, I wanted to do as much as I could. It really was a life-changing experience; I’ve never experienced anything like it.’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle declared a few weeks before to the birth of their royal child that they would not be disclosing any details about the birthing process.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby,” reads the statement released by Buckingham Palace.

“Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

Notably, it was never announced where Meghan planned to give birth. This was a major change from the Duchess of Cambridge’s birth plans. For each of her three children, the media was notified weeks in advance that she would be giving birth at the Lindo Wing in London’s St Mary’s Hospital, where Princess Diana had also delivered. In contrast, Meghan was rumored to want a home birth, harkening back to a much older royal tradition (all four of the Queen’s children were born at home), though that was never officially confirmed.

Today, with the publication of Archie’s birth certificate, it is confirmed that Meghan gave birth at Portland Hospital in London.

Previously, several publications had reporting that Meghan’s son was born in a hospital. The Daily Mail’s Rebecca English first broke the news that Meghan had given birth in a hospital on May 6, reporting that the Duchess “was whisked off amid such secrecy that even senior royals weren’t told.”

“It is not known whether Meghan, 37, was induced but sources say she remained there overnight before her baby was born at 5.26am on Monday morning, with an elated Prince Harry at her side,” English reported.

By the time the royal family announced the arrival of the royal baby, Meghan and Harry were back at Frogmore Cottage, their new home in Windsor.

“The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage,” reads the announcement. Naturally, that wording caused some speculation regarding whether or not Meghan had given birth at home.

The fact that the bulletin officially announcing the royal baby’s birth, which sat on an easel in front of Buckingham Palace, did not include the names of the doctors who attended to the birth, also prompted questions.

And The Sun’s royal correspondent Emily Andrews seemed to suggest that palace aides were unclear in how they addressed the situation.

 

“We were led to believe by palace aides that baby Sussex was born at Frogmore Cottage, but in fact he arrived at private London hospital the Portland,” she wrote on Twitter. “All other details still the same! Can’t wait to see a picture of him on Wednesday with his proud parents!”
