Meghan Markle is never afraid to be tactile with her husband in public.

The REAL reason why Meghan Markle is ‘hands on’ with Prince Harry: Duchess’s ‘double clutch’ is a ‘gesture of ownership’, body language expert says

Meghan Markle is never afraid to be tactile with her husband in public.

The Duchess of Sussex is regularly seen tightly grasping Prince Harry’s hand, or comforting him with a soft palm on his back.

Now, body language expert Judi James has revealed the deeper meaning behind the importance the couple seem to place on physical touch in public.

The Duchess uses various tactile methods to communicate with her husband and Ms James suggests this is because of their need to signal to one another.

There is the ‘double clutch’ that sees Meghan hold her husband with both hands and could be a ‘gesture of possession’, Ms James said.

And Meghan is also a fan of putting her hand on Harry’s knee, a ‘sensual’ move that Ms James said is another ‘signal of ownership’ and display of ‘physical attraction’.

Below, MailOnline reveals Ms James’ expert opinion on the couple’s most familiar tactile gestures.

    The ‘double clutch’

The couple’s recent trip to Colombia isn’t the first time Meghan has clasped her husband’s arm and hand at the same time.

When she first performed the gesture during their engagement announcement in 2017, Judi said ‘it had and still has a multi-media message purpose’.

‘This extra clingy clutch shows a desire to keep Harry close,’ Ms James said.

‘In the early days it also allowed Meghan to create a self-protective “comfort barrier” with her arm held across her torso.

‘More recently though it looks like a gesture of possession or a boast of ownership, as in “He’s mine”.

‘It suggests he is her priority but it also allows for a small sensual ritual if her fingertips are touching his bare arm.’

The ‘possessive’ gesture was displayed at the ESPY Awards in July too, when the couple posed with former tennis player Serena Williams.

    Holding Harry’s arm

When Harry takes the lead at events like the Invictus Games, Meghan seems to take a different approach to her physical contact with her husband.

She often will hold his arm, rather than his hands. Ms James said: ‘Meghan’s clutch on his bicep shows a “surrendered” approval of his manliness and strength’.

Though Meghan is letting her husband lead, the gentle touch still allows her to ‘remain part of the double act,’ Ms James added.

Harry founded the Invictus Games for wounded veterans and continues to be heavily involved.

Meghan has regularly joined her husband to the sporting events since her first public appearance with Harry in 2017, when they watched wheelchair tennis together.

    The ‘hand sandwich’

Meghan uses both of her hands to hold one of Harry’s in another double clasp gesture.

Ms James says it is ‘the strongest form of hand linking’, giving them a ‘romantic couple’ appearance.

Ensuring they maintain how their relationship looks to the public could be important to the couple after they stepped down as working royals, and simple hand holding techniques play a part.

Ms James compared the situation to the former King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson, who also left the UK after Edward abdicated from the throne.

She said: ‘Like Edward and Wallis there is a tendency to define and re-define their ongoing closeness and devotion to keep letting everyone know this was not a mistake.’

The body language expert dubbed the gesture as the ‘hand sandwich’.

It previously featured during their engagement shoot, where Meghan looked up at her future husband while they both grinned.

Last year, she also clasped Harry’s hand with both of hers at an Invictus Games event in Germany, when the couple met with NATO Joint Force Command and families from Italy and Netherlands.

    Hands on Harry’s knee

Meghan’s use of touch to communicate with her husband, aside from a desire for proximity, could also be a display of ‘physical attraction or a more maternal type of ownership,’ Ms James said.

The Duchess will sometimes place her hand on Harry’s thigh or knee when out together, including at the ESPY Awards Ceremony earlier this year.

The couple beamed as they sat together and Meghan, wearing a long white gown, put her hand on Harry’s knee in what could be seen as an ‘intimate or exclusive’ gesture.

Touching Harry’s knee or thigh ‘stamps’ the prince ‘with a signal of ownership,’ according to Ms James, while a hand on his leg or thigh ‘is a sensual move’.

It is something the Duchess has also used during Invictus Games events, including last year when they were riding in a buggy to watch the cycling in Dusseldorf, Germany.

In 2022, Meghan smiled as she placed a tender hand on her husband’s knee during an Invictus Games volleyball match while he chatted with her.

    Hand on Harry’s back

Another possible maternal gesture displayed by Meghan is when she places her hand on Harry’s back.

This tactile communicative method was seen in 2018 on the Buckingham Palace balcony, after the recently-married couple had watched the RAF centenary flypast.

Both looked down while Meghan situated her hand on the centre of Harry’s back – something that Ms James said could be seen as a reassuring touch.

Since the couple moved to America in 2020, Meghan has used the gesture on several further occasions.

Ms James said: ‘It’s a steering gesture that suggests that once he was in the US she was acting in the role of host and even leader if she used it to introduce him to other people.’

The tactile signal was seen in 2022 when Meghan placed her hand on her husband’s back while he hugged one of the founders of the One Young World Summit.

    Holding hands

Like many couples, Harry and Meghan also simply hold hands. But the way they position them could offer an insight into their dynamic too.

Harry’s hand often on top of his wife’s, and his arm is placed in front.

The couple have used this tactile technique for years and it was seen multiple times during their trip to Colombia more recently.

Ms James said the tactic is often used by celebrity couples.

Harry firmly placing his hand on the top in the clasp is a ‘dominant gesture’ that shows ‘a desire to be in the lead and to be seen as protective of her’.

Prince Harry today said in an emotional speech that ‘carrying on Diana’s legacy is something he takes very seriously’.

The Duke of Sussex, who recently celebrated his 40th birthday, gave the passionate address to a packed room at Halo Trust’s anti-landmine event in New York.

The charity gained international prominence in 1997 after Princess Diana walked through an active minefield in Angola.

Harry was greeted by a rapturous round of applause as he took to the stage to deliver an eight minute speech in which spoke of the charity’s work in Angola meaning a ‘great deal’ to his late mother.

Looking solemn faced, he said: ‘Carrying on her legacy is a responsibility that I take incredibly seriously.

Harry will be in London for the WellChild Awards

Wearing a navy suit with a Halo Trust pin on his lapel, he recalled following in his mother’s footsteps in 2019 when he visited Angola, 22 years after Diana had walked through minefields in the African country.

Harry spoke of the many changes that he had gone through since his visit five years ago, including becoming a father for the second time with the birth of daughter Lilibet in 2021.

And he said although you don’t need to have children to have a ‘stake in the future of our planet’, the Duke said his mother would have been ‘horrified’ to know that anyone’s children or grandchildren live in a world still ‘infested with mines’.

In an apparent nod to Diana he issued a rallying cry to ‘finish the job’ as he said: ‘Tomorrow let’s wake up and get back to work, let’s renew our commitments and let’s finish the job for all our sakes.

‘So we too can look back in awe and relief and so those who started this recovery and regeneration many years ago can rest knowing we really did finish the job.’

Earlier today, Harry appeared on stage in New York to discuss mental health and climate change with two young winners of a legacy award given in Princess Diana’s memory.

The Duke said his late mother would be ‘proud’ of them as he took part in the 14th Concordia Annual Summit in support of The Diana Award on his eight-day solo trip to the East Coast and the UK.

Harry, who cracked his knuckles and looked nervous as he sat down on stage, spoke of the importance of mental wellness at an event where participants talked about their climate anxiety.

He personally interviewed Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang from Indonesia and Christina Williams from Jamaica, who received The Legacy Award in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, joking: ‘For some reason I’ve been given the microphone to ask the questions’.

He told them: ‘I applaud you for having the confidence to be on this stage. I know my mother would be incredibly proud of you guys. Your activism is true to how my mother lived her life’.

Harry, wearing a navy suit and tie with a Diana Award pin on his lapel, asked: ‘Do you feel like leaders and people in positions of power are listening to you?’, adding that he wanted the The Diana Award to help their campaigning to tackle climate change and bring influence around the world.

And when asked what gives him hope for the future he said: ‘I have said it before years ago and I’ll say it again. The younger generation is what gives me hope. The courage you have gives me hope. Everyone of us needs courage to move the dial in this world, probably more than ever. We need to listen and act on what you say because it is your future that will be stolen and that is unacceptable’.

His decision to jet off alone to New York to meet royals and celebrities before a solo trip to Britain shows he is determined to ‘carve out’ new opportunities and ‘assert himself’ after turning 40, experts told MailOnline today.

The Duke is away from Montecito for the next eight days and went to a California benefit organised by Kevin Costner on Saturday, without his American wife.

Harry has always made an effort to continue his mother’s ‘unfinished’ work, revealing in 2022 that he felt ‘obligated’ to live out her legacy ‘as much as possible’.

Much of the conversation was about climate change. Harry looked slightly nervous and cracked his knuckles

Harry interviewed Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang from Indonesia and Christina Williams from Jamaica, who received The Legacy Award in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales

In a podcast interview, Harry told former rugby player Gareth Thomas: ‘I think once you get to meet people and you see the suffering around the world, you can’t turn, I certainly can’t turn, my back on that.

‘Then add in the fact that my mum’s work was unfinished, I feel obligated to try and continue that as much as possible.’

He added: ‘I could never fill her shoes, especially in this particular space because of what she did and what she stood for and how vocal she was about this issue.’

Harry’s attendance had sparked speculation that he may be in the city at the same time as his brother Prince William who is thought to attending the third annual Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit at The Plaza Hotel on September 24.

It’s unknown if he will attend for sure, but he was present last year at the same event.

If Prince William does come to New York when Harry is there, it’s likely the brothers will steer clear from one another, as a source told The Sunday Times in August that the siblings hadn’t spoken in ‘two years.’

It was said that the last time they talked was at their grandmother Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022.

The insider described the ‘estrangement’ as ‘dreadfully sad,’ adding that Prince William doesn’t even want Harry at his coronation when the time comes.

Harry embarrassed as Meghaп is kicked oυt by gυards after Keviп discovers her rυde behavioυr towards Fraпciscaп friar

Meghan Markle found herself in an embarrassing situation as she was escorted out by security guards, a moment that unfolded when Kevin, an event organizer, exposed her disrespectful behavior towards a Franciscan Friar.

During a recent charity event held at Kevin Conner’s Polo Field in Santa Barbara on May 18th, Meghan and Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, made a surprise appearance. The star-studded gathering included notable figures like Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres. However, despite the impressive guest list, insiders revealed that Meghan and Harry were largely overlooked by the celebrities in attendance.

In an attempt to connect with the crowd, Meghan and Harry approached Katy Perry’s parents and asked for a photo. They also sought out the Franciscan Friar, Father Larry Goslin of St. Barbara Parish, for intimate photos. However, an uncomfortable incident occurred when Meghan tried to kiss Father Goslin on the cheek and stood too close while taking pictures. Catholic priests adhere to celibacy and are only allowed to express affection in a friendly or familial manner, not romantically. Father Goslin had to gently remind Meghan to maintain a respectful distance on both occasions.

Furthermore, Meghan’s invitation to Father Goslin to renew his wedding vows next year was perceived as insulting and disrespectful. Father Larry Goslin is a respected Franciscan who was recently assigned to his Old Mission in Santa Barbara, and it took Kevin Conner considerable effort to invite him to the event.

This incident is not the first time Meghan has faced controversy over her behavior. At the 2023 Invictus Games in Germany, she was criticized for attempting to kiss a female audience member on the cheek without consent. The woman had previously experienced serious injuries, including assault and harassment, which made Meghan’s actions distressing.

Video footage of another awkward moment involving Meghan during Kevin Costner’s event has gone viral online. In the clip, a woman approaches Meghan with a microphone, and Meghan initially assumes it’s for her, reaching for the microphone before realizing it’s not intended for her.

These incidents have intensified the pressure on Harry and Meghan to deliver successful content for their Netflix projects. With 18 months remaining on their contract with the streaming giant and their recent Spotify partnership ending due to Luke Williams’s takeover of Meghan’s “Archewell Audio” podcast, the couple faces growing expectations and scrutiny.

EXCLUSIVEPrince Harry’s US visa documents will NOT be made public, judge rules

Prince Harry’s visa documents will not be made public, a judge has ruled in a major victory for the Duke of Sussex.

In a court decision handed down on Monday, US District Judge Carl Nichols said the British royal had a ‘reasonable privacy interest’ in relation to his US immigration paperwork and therefore such files should remain private.

The judge, however, did acknowledge that Harry had revealed ‘intimate details’ of his life in his 2023 memoir ‘Spare’, which included a description of his genitals freezing and his history of recreational drug use.

He also noted that Harry’s privacy interests were somewhat diminished by him being a public figure, according to the court filing obtained by DailyMail.com.

Prince Harry was in New York on Monday at the Concordia Annual Summit. He scored a major court victory on the same day after a judge rules his US visa case will remain sealed

The Duke of Sussex's visa application was called into question after he admitted in his 2023 memoir to using various drugs recreationally – which he would've been required to disclose in immigration documents. He is pictured with wife Meghan Markle in London in 2022

The decision comes after Judge Nichols spent five months reviewing Harry’s immigration file as part of a case brought by the Heritage Foundation, a right-wing think tank based in Washington, D.C.

Heritage sued the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) after the agency, which oversees immigration, refused to disclose a Freedom of Information request for Harry’s files.

Heritage claims that Harry may have lied on the forms under the section which asked if he had been a drug user.

In his memoir, ‘Spare’, and his Netflix TV series Harry talked about using cannabis, cocaine and magic mushrooms.

At the court in Washington, D.C., Judge Nichols noted that Harry’s memoir sold more than 1.4 million copies on its first day on sale and became a New York Times bestseller.

Judge Nichols said that the book ‘shares intimate details of his life’ including ‘numerous instances’ where Harry took drugs.

However, in the view of the judge, Harry had a ‘reasonably privacy interest in his immigration records’.

In a court decision handed down on Monday, US District Judge Carl Nichols said the court agrees that Prince Harry's 'privacy interest outweighs any public interest'

The judge's ruling states that Harry's memoir had included 'intimate details of his life'

Judge Nichols said that Heritage is ‘partially correct that as a public figure, the Duke’s public statements tend to diminish his privacy interests compared to ordinary foreign nationals admitted to the United States’.

The opinion states: ‘But it (Heritage) goes too far in arguing that the privacy interest is so diminished by his public statements as to be de minimis’, using a Latin word for very small.

Harry talked about using drugs such as cannabis, cocaine and magic mushrooms in his 2023 memoir, 'Spare', as well as on his Netflix TV series

Judge Nicholas added that the Duke’s public statements about his drug use did not eliminate his interest in keeping private information about his immigration status

In particular, the judge said that Harry had never disclosed ‘the following facts’ but the next paragraph is redacted.

Heritage’s argument that revealing Harry’s paperwork would shed light on the workings of DHS ‘fails’, the ruling states.

‘For the reasons discussed, the public does not have a strong interest in disclosure of the Duke’s immigration records’, the order states

The judge said that some documents submitted to him by DHS were ‘of particular relevance’ but the sentence was followed by a large paragraph that is redacted.

Another large section of ‘particularly relevant’ information was also redacted.

DHS handed over Harry’s immigration paperwork in April for Judge Nichols to review.

In March, DHS lawyers asked for more time to comply with a judge's ordered to provide more information about why it did not want to release the records

Judge Carl Nichols ordered the Department of Homeland Security to provide more information about why his immigration details should be kept secret in March

Nile Gardiner, who spearheaded the Heritage Foundation freedom of information request, said it was a matter of ensuring that no one got special treatment

He wanted to see the ‘particular harm’ that would arise from the material being made public.

Judge Nichols told Homeland Security that its arguments so far, including during a hearing in February, were ‘insufficiently detailed’ for him to decide.

The case had taken on a new edge in light of the Presidential election with Donald Trump suggesting he could deport Harry if he wins in November.

The dismissal of the case saves Harry from future embarrassing revelations about his personal life.

During the hearing in February, a lawyer for DHS claimed that Harry may have lied about his drug use to boost sales of ‘Spare’.

Assistant US Attorney John Bardo told the court in Washington: ‘The book isn’t sworn testimony or proof.

‘Saying something in a book doesn’t necessarily make it true’.

In legal filings Heritage claimed that Harry’s discussion of drugs was so brazen it ‘approached the point of bragging and encouraging illegal drug use’

The royal fan posted the images of Louise alongside the caption: “Is it just me or is that the lovely Lady Louise in uniform at the back at the Edinburgh Tattoo?!!! Greeting her aunt Anne and uncle Tim.”

The pictures indeed show Louise at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle, which Princess Anne and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence also attended.

The event, which takes place in August, is attended by Princess Anne every year to fulfil the prestigious role of Salute Taker for the Show at Edinburgh Castle’s Esplanade.

Louise, who has “fallen in love” with the idea of pursuing a career in the army, was likely there due to being a member of the St Andrews University Officers’ Training Corps.

This organisation provides military training for students.

The young royal is currently studying at St Andrews University, the same institution Prince William and Princess Kate attended as students.

The daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh is keen to serve her country and King Charles, according to an insider.

The source told The Sun: “She talks about being very keen on a career in the military, serving the King and country.

“She is all about the Army Cadets and has fallen in love with it.”

Prince Edward’s daughter is also set to make history as the first female royal to serve in the military since the late Queen Elizabeth II.

According to Louise’s LinkedIn page, which has since been taken down, the 20-year-old is interested in pursuing a career in “the military, diplomacy or law”.

Louise has likely already been inspired by her late grandmother, with whom she is said to have shared a close relationship.

As part of her training, Louise will be undertaking Reserve Officer modules designed to fit around her degree, which will instruct her in everything from how to wear a uniform correctly, to leading others in stressful situations.

Harry and Meghan bad bosses? Nonsense, say loyal staffers who gush that the Sussexes ‘water the seeds so that we can flourish’ in flood of online posts after claims ‘Duchess Difficult’ was ‘a dictator in high heels’ who ‘terrified’ workers

Staff loyal to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave the couple a glowing report last night as a war of words over Meghan being labelled a ‘dictator in high heels’ continued to rage.

Current and former staff staged an extraordinary intervention in friendly American media, describing the Sussexes as ‘caring’ bosses who give staff their children’s old baby clothes, fresh flowers and ‘care packages’.

Stung by recent accusations, particularly in industry heavyweight the Hollywood Reporter, that ‘Duchess Difficult’ has reduced grown men to tears as she ‘barks’ out orders, a string of employees offered a remarkably rosy account of their working lives to US Weekly magazine in the States.

Josh Kettler, Harry’s chief of staff who left after just three months in August, sparking the latest round of negative publicity, insists he was ‘warmly welcomed’ by both Harry and Meghan and describes them as ‘dedicated and hardworking’.

‘It was impressive to witness,’ he said but did not elaborate on why his tenure was so short.

Ben Browning, Archewell’s former head of content – who was responsible for their tell-all Netflix documentary but then left before the end of his contract- says his experience at the company and with Meghan and Harry in general ‘was positive and supportive’

Their current PR chief, ‘global press secretary’ Ashley Hansen, says they treated her with ‘the kind of concern and care a parent would express if it were their own child’ when she took time off for surgery, adding that they also sent flowers and gifts.

‘Meghan would personally reach out to my husband daily to make sure that we both were OK and had support. It meant so much to him and even more to me. You don’t realise how much that kind of kindness and thought means until you need it,’ she insisted.

Another anonymous source insists the Duke and Duchess ‘water the seeds’ for them to flourish. Harry, they say, asks on work Zoom calls about what staff have done at the weekend and says as a team they plan events like karaoke nights and ‘holiday parties’.

A former staff member said the couple heard they had adopted a dog, ‘the next day, I had a luxury brand leash and new collar on my doorstep’.

Parents-to-be are also given ‘brand-new gifts and top-notch secondhand stuff from the couple themselves ‘like unused car seats and baby items they no longer need’, it was said.

‘They want to take care of us,’ one current employee gushed. ‘Meghan will do things like, ‘You mentioned on the call your skin is bothering you, I put together a kit for you.’

And it was said that no-one leaves the couple’s Montecito home empty-handed. ‘Whenever staff goes to their house, they leave with a basket with fresh flowers, fresh fruit, fresh eggs,’ one staffer said.

‘Best bosses I have ever had,’ another current team member insists.

It is a stark contrast to recent reports about a string of departures from their Archewell organisation, which combines their media deals with philanthropic endeavours.

The latest expose claiming the Duchess of Sussex is a ‘dictator in high heels’ was sourced from someone ‘very high up’ still working for the couple, it has been claimed.

The original article in the Hollywood Reporter also said Meghan ‘doesn’t take advice’ and has reduced ‘grown men to tears’ as she ‘barks’ orders.

Maer Roshan, Co-Editor in Chief of the publication, has subsequently said he stands by the story, despite a backlash amongst supporters of the Sussexes.

Mr Roshan says they not only spoke to around a dozen people who had worked closely with Harry and Meghan ‘now and previously’ but told Access Hollywood that ‘our reporter talked to one very high up source who works for the couple who said everyone is terrified of Meghan’.

They say the former royal ‘belittles people’ and ‘doesn’t take advice’.

The sudden deluge of praise will do little to dampen speculation around the couple’s behaviour.

The duchess herself has always strongly denied claims of bullying staff, particularly in the UK, claiming they were part of a ‘calculated smear campaign’ against her.

Mr Roshan added: ‘Duchess Difficult is a nickname that has trailed Meghan for quite a few years.

‘What is new is that this notion, since coming to America, that a lot of these rumours were manufactured by the Palace and the reporting that we did suggests that probably isn’t true and there is still this undercurrent of fear.’

Buckingham Palace launched its own investigation after the bullying allegations were made public but refused to reveal the results of their findings.

Insiders have also previously expressed concern to the Mail that former employees who may have evidence to support the claims she bullied several female staff when she was living in the UK as a working royal were never even spoken to as part of their internal inquiry.

This newspaper also revealed that former staff had dubbed themselves ‘The Sussex Survivors Club’ and some were suffering from the equivalent of PTSD.

It will be undeniably troubling to the duke and duchess that the same sort of accusations have followed them to the United States and may account for the latest strike back.

The Hollywood Reporter piece also described the couple as ‘both poor decision-makers’ who ‘change their minds frequently’ – with Harry dubbed ‘a very, very charming person’ and yet ‘very much an enabler’.

Although they have not commented officially, a source ‘close’ to Harry and Meghan rejected the claims last week.

They also claimed that a note on her email signature which says staff should not feel obligated to respond outside of normal business hours was proof she wasn’t demanding. Staff have previously accused of her sending work emails at anti-social hours.

It comes as Prince Harry continues with a string of public appearances in New York ahead of a charity visit to the UK on Monday.

He joked about his misspent youth and spoke of his love for his own children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in a plea to better protect children from the ‘harm’ caused by social media.

Speaking at the 2024 Clinton Global Initiative event he said: ‘Some say kids will be kids and well, that may well be true. Kids may get into trouble. I know a thing or two about that. But our kids are being targeted. The harmful effects of social media are made by design.

‘These platforms are designed to create addiction….Young people are kept there by mindless, endless, numbing, scrolling, being force fed content that no child should ever be exposed to.’

  • Meghan Markle has been called ‘difficult Duchess’ by her staff

Meghan Markle has been called ‘difficult Duchess’ by her staff

Revealed: US report claiming Meghan Markle is nicknamed ‘Duchess Difficult’ and a ‘dictator in high heels’ by ‘terrified’ staff ‘came from source still working for the couple’, says editor

A US report claiming Meghan Markle is a ‘dictator in high heels’ came from someone ‘very high up’ still working for the couple, a senior journalist has claimed.

The source said that Meghan ‘doesn’t take advice’ and has reduced ‘grown men to tears’, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Maer Roshan, Co-Editor in Chief of the publication, has said he stands by the story after a backlash amongst supporters and friends including one Sussex source who said the claims were ‘fabricated’.

Meghan herself has also always denied claims of bullying staff.

Mr Roshan believes that their insider has revealed that it ‘probably isn’t true’ that claims Meghan is ‘difficult’ to work with and the nickname ‘Duchess Difficult’ were ‘manufactured’ by the Palace after Megxit.

The allegations about her behaviour emerged in a piece on the exodus of staff who have worked for the Sussexes, including the couple’s chief of staff Josh Kettler who resigned from his role in August after just three months.

Mr Roshan told Access Hollywood: ‘Our reporter talked to a very high up source who works for the couple and said: “Everyone is terrified of Meghan”.

Meghan Markle has been dubbed 'Duchess Difficult' by her staff, a report claims. The editor of the publication stands by the story

Meghan had previously been accused of bullying palace staff before her move to California, prompting royal aides to launch an inquiry into claims of Meghan's 'belittling' behaviour towards two personal assistants. She denied the claims

Maer Roshan, Co-Editor in Chief of the Hollywood Reporter, has said he stands by the story

The claims come following reports that the couple's chief of staff Josh Kettler resigned from his role in August after a three month stint

‘Duchess Difficult is a nickname that has trailed Meghan Markle for quite a few years. What is new is that this notion, since coming to America, that a lot of these rumours were manufactured by the Palace and the reporting that we did suggests that probably isn’t true and there is still this undercurrent of fear’.

Friends of Meghan have said that they have never seen ‘a negative side to her’.

Mr Roshan told Access Hollywood: ‘Two things can be possible at once. The couple does help a lot of people. Meghan and Harry declined to comment on our story. I think Meghan would have said that barking around orders is something that we expect from men and it would never raise an eyebrow’.

Meghan has touched on the subject in her Archetypes podcast.

She said: ‘You’re allowed to set a boundary. You’re allowed to be clear, [it] does not make you demanding. It does not make you difficult, it makes you clear’.

But the Hollywood Reporter piece last week claimed that Meghan ‘terrifies’ people.

The piece also described the couple as ‘both poor decision-makers’ who ‘change their minds frequently’ – with Harry dubbed ‘a very, very charming person’ and yet ‘very much an enabler’.

The publication reported allegations that Meghan was ‘absolutely relentless’ and that ‘she marches around like a dictator in high heels, fuming and barking orders’, adding: ‘I’ve watched her reduce grown men to tears’.

Meghan’s ‘noisy tantrums’ and ‘angry 5 am emails’ have also earned her the nickname ‘Duchess Difficult’ by her members of staff, the Hollywood Reporter said.

A spokesman for the Sussexes declined to comment when approached by MailOnline today.

But a source close to Harry and Meghan rejected the claims last week, saying the allegations were false.

‘These quotes were fabricated by someone lacking knowledge of our company. The Duke and Duchess work from Montecito, and we’re based in Hollywood. They likely think we’re all in the same office and that this quote would fly, but the circumstances don’t even allow for it. If she’s “marching around” and “barking orders” no Archewell employee could factually claim that. It’s total nonsense’, they said.

‘And the source said on the emails: ‘Who hasn’t sent an email when they can’t sleep or are awake early?

‘I’ve never once ever gotten an email from either of them at that hour and even if I did, The Duchess specifically notes in her email signature that everyone has a different working day and to not feel obligated to respond outside of normal business hours. These source quotes don’t make any sense’.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attend an official photocall to announce their engagement at The Sunken Gardens, Kensington Palace on November 27, 2017. The couple have gained a reputation for losing employees, and are believed to have lost at least 18 members of their workforce since they married in 2018

Do you think the palace culture plays a role in how staff perceive Meghan Markle?

The claims came as the Duke of Sussex turned 40 and separate sources suggested he was feeling increasingly lonely in the US and considers his security guard David Langdown, a former Met Police officer, his best friend.

Meghan had previously been accused of bullying palace staff before the pair’s move to California, prompting royal aides to launch an inquiry into claims of Meghan’s ‘belittling’ behaviour towards two personal assistants.

Staff were said to have been left in tears and feeling ‘traumatised’ – with some likening their condition to having post-traumatic stress.

While details of the report were never revealed, the allegations have always been strongly denied by the duchess, whose lawyers described them at the time as a ‘calculated smear campaign’.

The new reports come after it was revealed by The Mail on Sunday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s PR adviser Christine Weir Schirmer had left quietly at the end of last year after joining the couple as head of communications for their charitable foundation Archewell in 2020.

News of Schirmer’s departure came just weeks after it was reported that Kettler had resigned after his short spell working for the couple.

While Kettler had been hired on a trial basis when he took up the role with Harry and Meghan, US magazine People reported that the ‘decision to part ways was mutual, with both sides agreeing it wasn’t the right fit’.

But the departures of Schirmer and Kettler have only highlighted the problems Meghan and Harry have long had when it comes to keeping their staff.

The Duke's last decade has seen him grow apart from his family, including his elder brother Prince William who had organised Harry's 30th birthday celebrations a decade ago

The couple have gained a reputation for losing employees, and are believed to have lost at least 18 members of their workforce since they married in 2018.

Nine or more have left their roles since the couple escaped Britain for California in 2020, including their global press secretary Toya Holness and Meghan’s top aide and private secretary Samantha Cohen.

Tensions within the royal family since Harry and Meghan left for a new life in the US in 2020 have only got worse, especially following the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare in January last year.

He claimed his brother William, the Prince of Wales, 42, had branded Meghan ‘difficult’, ‘rude’ and ‘abrasive’, and even accused the elder sibling of pushing him into a dog bowl.

Prince Harry is in New York this week.

His decision to jet off alone to New York to meet royals and celebrities before a solo trip to Britain shows he is determined to ‘carve out’ new opportunities and ‘assert himself’ after turning 40, experts told MailOnline .

The Duke of Sussex is away from Montecito for the next seven days and went to a California benefit organised by Kevin Costner on Saturday, without his American wife.

Last night he attended a dinner organised by the World Health Organization (WHO), greeting Queen Mathilde of Belgium warmly on arrival.

On his trip to New York this week he will also support pet charities and businesses including African Parks, The HALO Trust, The Diana Award, and Travalyst. And this weekend he will fly to London for his annual visit to support WellChild at their awards ceremony, again without his wife.

This month he is said to have planned a lads-only weekend away with friends to mark his 40th birthday, but was with a smiling Meghan leaving a ‘double birthday’ event, held for their friend Tyler Perry, the night before the Prince’s own big day.

Biographer Phil Dampier, author of Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan In Their Own Words, said: ‘Harry sometimes feels like a spare part and he often looks unhappy when he’s out with Meghan at events in California. I think he has reached a point where he wants more for himself. He’s turned 40 and must be asking himself what the future holds.

‘I think he’s desperate to find some new meaning to his life and that seems to involve branching out on his own more.

‘He has this few days in New York and then he’s heading to London for the WellChild event with which he’s been involved for years.

‘He clearly wants to find some causes he can get involved in and give his life some purpose.

‘Meghan doesn’t want to come back to this country, so he will have to fly solo’.

Harry has reportedly been contacting some of his old friends ahead of his UK visit.

‘I’m sure he’s lacking some mates he can go out with for a beer and truly relax. The more he does things on his own and carves out some new projects, the more likely it is he can heal himself and eventually some of the divisions with his family, but it’s going to be a long road’, Mr Dampier said.

Royal expert and investigative journalist Tom Bower has said that Harry’s next week away shows he is trying ‘to assert himself’ alone.

He said: ‘It’s not just Harry doing repeated solo events which suggests a shift in his lifestyle and strategy to assert himself – not least in Britain’.

In a world where royal drama captures the headlines and keeps us on the edge of our seats, the latest twist involving Meghan Markle has set tongues wagging and social media ablaze. The news that King Charles has made a final decision regarding Meghan’s titles has sent shockwaves through both royal circles and the general public. But what does this mean for Meghan, her family, and her future in the UK? Buckle up as we dive into the captivating world of royalty, media frenzy, and the intriguing life of Meghan Markle.

This Is The Reason Why The Royal Family Is Leaving Out Meghan Markle

Let’s just say that they aren’t her biggest fans, and we are not talking about her Hollywood movies or television work.

Many royal fans and critics alike have noticed that the royal family made an effort to wish Prince Harry a very happy 40th birthday but completely ignored Meghan Markle on her 43rds birthday earlier in the month. And of course, a lot of people want to know why.

This Is The Reason Why The Royal Family Is Leaving Out Meghan Markle

Apparently, there’s a reason why Meghan was left out from the birthday wishes and has not even been mentioned on any of the royal family’s social media accounts since she and Prince Harry pulled the plug on their working relationship with the royals back in 2020.

It’s being heavily speculated on social media that the royals would like to have Prince Harry back in the royal fold but simply do not want Meghan anywhere near them, let alone back in the royal family.

If that weren’t enough, a lot of people also noticed that the royals used a ‘cropped’ photo of Prince Harry for his birthday post.

However, one expert said that it is “standard practice to crop images to get singles, as has been done here.”

Royal Family News – What’s Next For Meghan Markle?

The expert also added that Meghan’s exclusion was not intentional, even though some people might have seen it that way.

Either way, the royals have made it pretty clear that they want nothing to do with the Duchess of Sussex and don’t plan on wishing her a happy birthday anytime soon, or ever at all.

For Meghan’s part, it doesn’t seem like she’s too bothered about it all.

That’s because she’s made it clear on her end as well that she has no plans to ever step foot on UK soil again, even if it’s for a royal family member’s funeral. She simply doesn’t want to be there.

So far Meghan Markle herself has not made any comments about the matter.

For now, let us know what you think by leaving us a line with your thoughts in our comments section below.

  • So what is the truth about boss Meghan?

So what is the truth about boss Meghan?

So what is the truth about boss Meghan? After loyal staff heaped praise on Sussexes, now Duchess is accused of 'chewing people up'

Meghan Markle was today reportedly described by former staff as someone who could be a ‘demon’ and treated some employees ‘like a tradesman’ amid an intensifying row over her management style.

One palace courtier who is claimed to have worked for the Duchess of Sussex said they ‘witnessed people being chewed up in person and over the phone and made to ‘feel like s**t’, according to a new US media report.

It was claimed that another former aide said they ‘always thought she was a classic narcissist’ and she was ‘lovely when it is all going her way but a demon when the worm turns’.

The report in the Daily Beast today follows two major recent articles published in America about Meghan – with one in the Hollywood Reporter criticising her as a ‘dictator in high heels’, and another in Us Weekly praising her management style.

A representative for Meghan and her husband Prince Harry confirmed to MailOnline today that they would not be commenting on the new Daily Beast article.

It comes as Harry continues to attend events in New York this week while Meghan and their children Archie and Lilibet are at home in Montecito, California.

Prince Harry and Meghan visit San Basilio de Palenque on their tour of Colombia on August 17

One courtier who was said to have worked for Meghan and Harry when they were still senior royals was quoted by the Daily Beast as saying: ‘I do think that after the ill-feeling of Megxit, Meghan’s bad moments were amplified and distorted and blown out of proportion.

‘That said, there definitely were bad, very bad… moments. I witnessed people being chewed up in person and over the phone and made to feel like s**t.

‘But it was an incredibly fraught time and I’m inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt. She has said herself she was suicidal at times.’

Another aide who worked with Meghan ahead of her wedding at Windsor Castle in May 2018 referred to the positive picture portrayed in the Us Weekly article.

The aide told the Daily Beast: ‘I always thought she was a classic narcissist.’

They added: ‘She is lovely when it is all going her way but a demon when the worm turns.’

Prince Harry speaks at the Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York City yesterday

A third source told the Daily Beast that a florist was ‘screamed at down the phone’ after posting a detail about a bouquet they were working on for her – without identifying Meghan as the client.

This source said: ‘They vowed never to work with her again, despite the prestige of having her as a client. If you were working for her, you were often treated like a tradesman who could be treated like s**t.’

It follows accusations made in a Hollywood Reporter article on September 12 that ‘Duchess Difficult’ had reduced grown men to tears as she ‘barks’ out orders.

Then, staff loyal to Harry and Meghan gave the couple a glowing report and a positive account of their working lives to Us Weekly in an article published yesterday.

Josh Kettler, Harry’s former chief of staff who left after just three months in August, said in the Us Weekly article that he was ‘warmly welcomed’ by the Sussexes and called them ‘dedicated and hardworking’.

Josh Kettler, Prince Harry's former chief of staff, who left after just three months in August

‘It was impressive to witness,’ he added, without elaborating on why he left so quickly.

Ben Browning, Archewell’s former head of content – who was responsible for their tell-all Netflix documentary but then left before the end of his contract – said his experience at the company, and with Meghan and Harry in general, ‘was positive and supportive’.

Their current PR chief, ‘global press secretary’ Ashley Hansen, says they treated her with ‘the kind of concern and care a parent would express if it were their own child’ when she took time off for surgery, adding that they also sent flowers and gifts.

She added: ‘Meghan would personally reach out to my husband daily to make sure that we both were OK and had support. It meant so much to him and even more to me. You don’t realise how much that kind of kindness and thought means until you need it.’

Meghan with former Archewell president Mandana Dayani, who has spoken in support of her

Another anonymous source told Us Weekly: ‘This is the first company I’ve worked [where I] liked every person. Harry and Meghan picked the best of the best from every field and watered the seeds for them to flourish. We have an enormous microscope on us. But good things are happening.’

They said Harry asks on work Zoom calls about what staff have done at the weekend and as a team they plan events such as karaoke nights and ‘holiday parties’.

A former staff member said the Sussexes heard they had adopted a dog, and ‘the next day, I had a luxury-brand leash and new collar on my doorstep’.

Expectant parents are also given ‘brand-new gifts and top-notch second-hand stuff from the couple themselves ‘like unused car seats and baby items they no longer need’, it was said.

‘They want to take care of us,’ one current employee said. ‘Meghan will do things like, ‘You mentioned on the call your skin is bothering you. I put together a kit for you’.’

Ben Browning, Archewell's former head of content, said his experience at the company, and with Meghan and Harry in general, 'was positive and supportive'

It was also claimed that no one leaves the couple’s Montecito home empty-handed.

‘Whenever staff go to their house, they leave with a basket with fresh flowers, fresh fruit, fresh eggs,’ one staffer said. ‘Best bosses I have ever had,’ another current team member insists.

Also speaking to Us Weekly yesterday was former Archewell boss Mandana Dayani who said the ‘kindness, mentorship and support’ she has received from the Duke and Duchess ‘happens quietly behind closed doors’.

It is a stark contrast to recent reports about a string of departures from their Archewell organisation, which combines their media deals with philanthropic endeavours.

The exposé in the Hollywood Reporter claiming the Duchess is a ‘dictator in high heels’ was sourced from someone ‘very high up’ still working for the couple, it has been claimed.

Maer Roshan, co-editor-in-chief of the Hollywood Reporter, has said he stands by the story

That article also said Meghan ‘doesn’t take advice’ and has reduced ‘grown men to tears’ as she ‘barks’ orders.

The Hollywood Reporter also described the couple as ‘poor decision-makers’ who ‘change their minds frequently’.

Maer Roshan, co-editor-in-chief of the publication, has subsequently said he stands by the story, despite a backlash amongst supporters of the Sussexes.

Mr Roshan said they spoke to around a dozen people who had worked closely with Harry and Meghan ‘now and previously’.

He also told Access Hollywood that ‘our reporter talked to one very high up source who works for the couple who said everyone is terrified of Meghan’.

They say the Duchess ‘belittles people’ and ‘doesn’t take advice’.

Although they have not commented officially, a source ‘close’ to Harry and Meghan rejected the claims last week.

They also pointed out that a note on her email signature which says staff should not feel obligated to respond outside of normal business hours was further proof she wasn’t demanding.

Meghan herself has always strongly denied claims of bullying staff, claiming they were part of a ‘calculated smear campaign’.

Buckingham Palace launched its own investigation after the bullying allegations were made public but refused to reveal the findings.

Insiders have previously told the Mail that former employees who may have evidence to support the claims she bullied several female staff when she was living in the UK as a working royal were never even spoken to.

The Mail also revealed that former staff had dubbed themselves the ‘Sussex Survivors Club’ and some were suffering from the equivalent of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Meghaп Markle claims to be a philaпthropic lifestyle expert. Faпs are fed υp with her tryiпg to be Diaпa 2.0.

Markle has been hit with huge backlash for wearing Di’s old jewelry.

Ever since ex-Suits actress Markle’s entry into the royal family, parallels have been drawn between the two women.

Both said they faced relentless media pressure, both have spoken out on mental health struggles – and both were left infuriated by royal protocol.

But Markle is now apparently starting to feel haunted by the “constant presence” of the mother-in-law she never met.

And insiders say her attempts to reinvent herself as a charity-working lifestyle guru are the result of her feeling she is “genuinely possessed by and talking to” Diana’s spirit.

A source said: “Meghan wears Diana’s jewelry, has been seen pulling the same doe-eyed, demure poses as her and is now trying to become a philanthropist in an echo of Di’s charity work.

“It’s as if she is channelling her spirit… and it’s getting strange.”

Di was renowned for her global charity work – which critics say Markle is desperately copying.

Another insider said Markle was showing signs of “losing it” since her husband Prince Harry hit 40 earlier this month.

They added: “She has become more and more of a recluse, and he headed away for his birthday on a lads’ holiday without her.

“He’s also got a series of solo trips planned to the UK – again, without Meghan.

“It’s left her feeling abandoned, and she’s going to naturally be drawing parallels with her marriage and the doomed relationship of Diana and Prince Charles, which he abandoned for another woman and left her totally adrift.”

Royal expert Tom Bower, 77, whose books include one on Diana and Charles’ crumbling marriage, said: “Harry told a friend of his when he was in London recently that Meghan is in touch with Diana.

“And Meghan is assuring Harry his mother that what they’re doing is right and that she supports them absolutely in everything they are doing.
