Rebecca Loos still hasn’t forgiven David Beckham, as she continues to stir up old issues by participating in interviews and answering questions about her affair with Beckham (video)

It’s been nearly two decades since David Beckham was accused of having an affair with Rebecca Loos, an accusation he continues to deny today.

But with the release of his and Victoria’s Netflix documentary earlier this year, it’s spurred renewed interest in the scandal.

The intrigue has been further compounded by a new book that sheds light on the intimate details of the alleged affair, including why Rebecca reportedly ended it.

In his recent book, The House of Beckham, Tom Bower alleges that Rebecca’s decision to publicize her accusations was triggered

by an incident involving David and a Spanish waitress.

David’s Mistress Was Allegedly Angry He Didn’t Tip

According to Bower, Rebecca observed David neglecting to leave a tip, which seemingly minor event served as the tipping point for her to go public with her claims. Bower details how this seemingly trivial occurrence was the spark that led Rebecca to share her story.

“The turning point for Loos was realising Beckham’s double standards. After a meal for SFX employees at Madrid’s Hard Rock Cafe, Beckham did not leave a tip,” Bower wrote. “The following day, the waitress gave Loos a note for Beckham. Explaining that she survived on the tips, she expressed her anger that someone as famous and rich could be so mean.”

“After reading the note, Beckham was alarmed. ‘Give her this,’ he said handing over a thick wodge of euros. Reflecting in February about how Beckham had played her and lied to her, Loos was angry,” he continued.

Rebecca Loos Still Claims The Affair Did Happen

Bower’s accusations remain unproven, especially since the Beckhams continue to deny the affair ever took place. But Rebecca, who’s a non-celebrity, did speak out to affirm her claims from decades earlier after the couple’s Netflix documentary released, which revisited the affair accusations.

Rebecca is married to Norwegian physician Sven Christjar Skaiaa. According to her social media profiles, they reside on a quaint farm with their two children, living life largely out of the spotlight.

In the doc, Victoria elaborated on how the affair speculation hurt her as a young mother. She and David were living separately while he had to go abroad for his soccer career, while she remained in the U.K. with their kids.

“The world was attacking us and we were against each other,” the Spice Girl said on camera. “Even in Madrid, we were together, but we didn’t feel each other’s support. I can’t describe how it affected us. I have never been so unhappy in my life.”

Victoria and David have been married since 1999. Rebecca first went public with her affair accusations in 2004.

David Beckham fears his daughter will suffer psychological h@rm due to rumors of his infidelity (video)

David Beckham, the former Manchester United star, is said to be “nervous” about his daughter, Harper, entering the dating scene in the future, according to a source.

The football legend, 49, shares a “special bond” with his youngest child, Harper, who turns 13 this month.

In a past interview following her birth in 2011, David humorously expressed his protective nature, stating that all he needed was a “shotgun”.

A source has now claimed to Heat magazine: “David and Harper have such a special bond. He is naturally a protective dad, so obviously, he’s nervous of anyone hurting his little girl.”

While she is still young, David understands that any dating at this stage would be innocent,

but he also recognises that it will become more challenging as she grows older, reports the Mirror.

His eldest children, Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, and Cruz, 19, were allowed to date during their teenage years.

However, the idea of Harper doing the same doesn’t sit well with David, Heat reports.

Harper was born at a time when her parents were at different stages in their careers. With David having retired from football, he spent more time at home, making him feel sentimental as she transitions into her teenage years.

An insider told the magazine that Harper has “really started changing”, and in some ways, David “yearns” for the days when she was little.

An insider revealed: “She’s getting dressed up a lot more, using make-up, having her hair done, going out with friends, and is always chatting about fashion and beauty with her mum.”

Victoria and David are known for their close-knit family, but it seems David has a unique set of rules for his daughter.

Back in 2013, he jokingly declared that he was banning her from dating boys.

He stated she’s “not going out” and would be “like Rapunzel – up in the tower”. David clarified that he doesn’t love his daughter “more”, but explained his older sons are “independent”.

The source also claimed that David acknowledges his daughter has “three protective brothers” who will “look out for her”, and that he recognises she’s “very sensible”.

Harper was seen embracing her dad in a heartwarming Father’s Day photo last month as Victoria, 50, gave fans a sneak peek into their family life on Instagram.

David marked the special day by posting a photo of his four children, referring to them as his “biggest achievement” in the caption and expressing gratitude to Victoria for their blissful family.

  • David de Gea declined David Beckham’s invitation because Beckham wouldn’t agree to remove Messi (video)

David de Gea declined David Beckham’s invitation because Beckham wouldn’t agree to remove Messi (video)

Inter Miami president David Beckham wants former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea as the MLS club’s next goalkeeper.

The shot-stopper left Old Trafford as a free agent at the end of last season after 12 years in the Premier League but has yet to find a club five months later.

De Gea, 33, did engage in discussions over a contract extension with Manchester United throughout the year.

However, despite seeming like he would be prolonging his stay, no deal materialized this summer.

The player later confirmed his departure on social media in early July following a breakdown in talks between the two parties.

Man United soon moved on by replacing him with Andre Onana, who has become the club’s new number-one goalkeeper.

Over the months since De Gea’s departure, he has rejected several chances to return to the sport, including from the Saudi Pro League. The Spaniard is said to be holding out on a return to his homeland, with La Liga clubs Real Betis and Valencia reportedly interested, per the Daily Star.

However, his salary demands are seemingly stopping any move outside of suitors in the Middle East. While at United, De Gea was among the club’s highest earners, receiving a weekly wage of over $450,000.

Such figures would be prohibitive to Betis and Valencia, despite the latter having billionaire Singaporean business magnate Peter Lim as an owner. The former’s fans are their majority owner, with local businessmen among their other notable shareholders.

Therefore, Beckham hopes that a lack of movement will work in Inter Miami’s favor. The club is, of course, no strangers to signing Spanish players on free transfers after signing De Gea’s former international teammates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets last summer.

The goalkeeper played 38 games for the national team alongside Alba in defense as they came through the country’s youth system together before reaching the senior roster. He similarly made 34 appearances with Busquets in midfield ahead of him, so De Gea knows both players well.

As for Inter Miami’s captain, Lionel Messi, the goalkeeper faced him three times while the goalkeeper was playing in Spain for Atletico Madrid. He later played against Messi’s Barcelona twice in the Champions League at Man United, losing to them at the quarter-final stage in 2019.

The MLS club likely sees De Gea as a replacement for Nick Marsman, whom they exercised a contract buyout on midway through last season. The Dutch goalkeeper had lost his place as their starting goalkeeper to Drake Callender during the 2022 season.

De Gea would seemingly displace Callender as the first choice in net if a deal materialises. That is despite the Sacramento native enjoying a strong shot-stopping season that resulted in a first national team call-up. Only Austin FC’s Brad Stuver and St. Louis CITY SC’s Roman Burki made more than Callender’s 122 saves.

King Charles had a private meeting with David Beckham upon learning about his c0nflicts with Prince Harry — not for reconciliation, of course (video)

King Charles reportedly had a private meeting with David Beckham after being unable to meet with his son Prince Harry during his visit to the U.K. earlier in the week.

According to The Times, the former England football captain, 49, met the King, 75, for a “private meeting” on Friday.

“Beckham is understood to have visited Charles to learn more about his charity, the King’s Foundation,” the outlet added.

PEOPLE understands that the Duke of Sussex invited his father, King Charles, his brother, Prince William and his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton,

to his celebratory Invictus Games event on Wednesday, May 8, which they did not attend.

The Princess of Wales, 42, is outside of the public eye while receiving cancer treatment, while Prince William, 41, conducted investitures at Windsor Castle on May 8.

King Charles recently resumed forward-facing duties while receiving cancer treatment, and hosted the first garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace on May 8. The party coincided with the Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London for the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, which Prince Harry launched in London in 2014.

It emerged earlier this week that Prince Harry, 39, wouldn’t be able to meet with his father the King during his time in the U.K. due to the monarch’s “full” schedule.

“In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the U.K. this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program. The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon,” a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex said on May 7.

The timing could have aligned for Beckham and the King to meet at his Highgrove home, as the monarch was seen leaving Windsor Castle en route to Highgrove, Gloucestershire on May 10. The area is home to the King’s beloved country home Highgrove House, which has been a respite for the royal since he bought it in 1980.

Beckham received his OBE from Queen Elizabeth for services to soccer in 2003 and has socially known the royal family for years, having attended the royal weddings of both Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011 and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018 with his wife, Victoria Beckham. Like many Brits, Beckham stood in line for 12 hours in London to pay respects to the late Queen Elizabeth when her coffin laid in state at Westminster Hall following her death in September 2022.

On May 9, King Charles made his first solo engagement since resuming his royal duties at the Royal School of Military Engineering.

Before his Invictus-related trip, which was highlighted by a panel on May 7 and the Service of Thanksgiving on May 8, Prince Harry was most recently in the U.K. to visit his father following Buckingham Palace’s announcement of the sovereign’s cancer diagnosis in February.

The Duke of Sussex then traveled to Canada for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025’s One Year to Go celebration with his wife Meghan Markle, and revealed in an interview there that he hoped to see his father as much as possible.

When Good Morning America’s Will Reeve asked Harry about how he first learned of his father’s cancer diagnosis, he replied, “I spoke to him. I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could.”

“Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that,” Prince Harry said. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to her home state of California after stepping back from their royal roles in 2020, and live there with their children Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 2.

As for whether King Charles’ diagnosis could have a “reunifying effect” on the royal family, Harry, who spent time with Invictus Games competitors and their families at the countdown kickoff, said: “Absolutely. Yeah, I’m sure. Throughout all these families, I see it on a day-to-day basis, the strength of the family unit coming together.”

Following the Duke of Sussex’s solo trip to the U.K. for the Invictus Games anniversary, he and Meghan arrived in Nigeria on May 10 for their first international tour since stepping back from their royal roles.

The couple are in the country at the invitation of the Chief of Defense Staff, Nigeria’s highest-ranking military official, and the busy itinerary highlighting Invictus continues on May 11 and May 12.

David Beckham is hoping to score big in the consumer health and wellness category.

The former England footballer and husband of Spice Girl turned beauty entrepreneur Victoria Beckham has invested in Prenetics, a Hong Kong-based health sciences company.

Prenetics and Beckham intend to co-found a new health and wellness brand, called IM8.

Details of the brand will be announced at a later date, but Prenetics said IM8 would focus on “cutting-edge” consumer health products.

“Throughout my life and career, I’ve been fortunate to have access to the best medical professionals, nutrition experts and fitness coaches,” said Beckham.

“Their guidance has been crucial to my health and wellbeing.

“That’s why I am excited to be working with Prenetics, a company that is dedicated to innovative, world-leading scientific advancements in health, as a co-founding partner and ambassador for IM8.”

CEO and co-founder of Prenetics Danny Yeung added that the partnership “marks a transformative era for Prenetics”.

“Working closely with David these past months, I’ve been consistently inspired by his vision for accessible health for all.

“His passion and commitment are truly extraordinary.

“With IM8, we have a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the consumer health and wellness industry.”

IM8 will lead Prenetics’ consumer initiative.

The company’s clinical division is led by Insighta, a US$200m joint venture with scientist Professor Dennis Lo, which focuses on multi-cancer early detection technologies.

A new website, im8health.com, has already gone live, teasing that IM8 club membership is available for exclusive content
and advice from scientific experts.

    Beckham’s long history in beauty

IM8 marks Beckham’s first foray into health and wellness, but the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star is a veteran when it comes to lifestyle and grooming.

Having first partnered with L’Oréal-owned Biotherm Homme in 2016, Beckham unveiled his debut male grooming and skin care collection, House 99, in 2018.

The co-owner of Inter Miami joined forces with L’Oréal Luxe to create the product line, which reportedly took two years to develop.

However, the label appears to have been discontinued, with no official website and zero posts on its 134k-follower Instagram account @house99.

In 2023, Beckham launched fragrance range The Collection, which initially sold via US department store chain JCPenney before rolling-out to retailers across the US at the start of this year.

The announcement coincided with Victoria Beckham Beauty (the 2019-launched brand co-founded by the former Spice Girl) teasing its first trio of fragrances.

Coty has licensed David Beckham fragrances globally since early 2005.

In addition to The Collection, the football star’s fragrance portfolio includes Instinct and Respect.

Intimately, meanwhile, is a sensual edt that was originally conceived as a his-and-hers duo with Victoria.

In the 1990s, Beckham was credited for spiking interest in male grooming, inspiring the term ‘metrosexual’ to describe hetrosexual men adopting skin and hair care rituals.

Beckham’s fashion industry work includes modelling stints with Emporio Armani Underwear and a 2024 multi-year design collaboration with Hugo Boss for its Boss Menswear collections.

The 49-year-old is also Ambassadorial President of the British Fashion Council.

Phil Neville has been sacked as manager of MLS side Inter Miami.

The 46-year-old has paid the price for a poor run of form, with the 1-0 defeat to New York Red Bulls proving the final straw.

Neville, who was appointed in January 2021 after his resignation as England Women boss, leaves the club bottom of the Eastern Conference following four successive defeats.

Co-owner David Beckham, who is Neville’s ex-Manchester United and England team-mate and friend, said it was the right time to make the change.

“When we appointed Phil we knew he would give Inter Miami his all and I have watched him work incredibly hard

and with real commitment towards the ambitions we set out for the club,” he said on the club’s official website.

“He and his family embraced Miami and he has devoted himself to the drive to bring success to the city and to our fans. Phil has made a real contribution to the culture of our club with his qualities as a leader and knowledge as a coach.

“Sometimes in this game we have to make the toughest decisions and sadly we feel the time is right to make a change. I want to personally thank Phil for his hard work, his passion for our club and for his integrity as a person.”

Neville attracted attention recently after he swore at a reporter during a press conference, having been interrupted during an answer.

He said: “I would like to thank the Inter Miami CF ownership group for their trust and making me a part of this project; the players and staff for their impressive commitment, dedication and hard work; and the fans for their unwavering support for the club since day one.

“I’m grateful to have played a part in the growth of this club and wish Inter Miami CF all the best in the future.”

David Beckham broke down in tears recounting his relationship with Mark Wahlberg: “I never expected the person I trusted the most to betr@y me” (video)

There is trouble in Los Angeles A-lister-fitness-guru paradise.

Over the weekend, it emerged that David Beckham is suing Hollywood actor turned wellness mogul Mark Wahlberg

after a brand deal turned sour, allegedly leaving Becks £8.5 million out of pocket.

The pair have been friends for almost 15 years, dating back to when the 48-year-old former footballer moved in down the road from the 52-year-old Ted actor in LA in 2007.

    But no more, apparently.

Beckham has accused Wahlberg of having misled him during their business dealings, accusing his company of “fraudulent conduct”.

The case relates to the fitness company F45 Training, which Wahlberg part-owns.

Beckham agreed to be the US firm’s global ambassador when he moved to LA, but has now alleged that he was misled into working with the company.

According to documents seen by The Sun, Beckham’s company DB Ventures Ltd initially began litigation against F45 in October 2022, alongside Australian golfing legend Greg Norman, before a judge instructed the pair to bring their cases separately.

Beckham claims he lost more than £8.5 million when stocks he was promised were withheld until after share prices plummeted. Wahlberg and his co-defendants claim the allegations of “fraudulent conduct” are baseless and have asked a judge to dismiss the lawsuit.

A separate case is also being brought against the actor’s investment firm, Mark Wahlberg Investment Group (MWIG), and F45’s founders Adam Gilchrist and Rob Deutsch.

A series of Instagram posts shared by the footballer to his millions of followers promoting F45 as part of the deal have also been deleted.

Here’s everything you need to know about Beckham and Wahlberg’s friendship, Wahlberg’s business ventures and his darker history of legal troubles.

Inside Beckham and Wahlberg’s 15-year friendship

While Beckham and Wahlberg have been friends for over a decade, their relationship didn’t get off to the best start. Beckham and Wahlberg became friends after the ex-Manchester United midfielder and his family relocated to LA in 2007, after he signed a deal to join Major League Soccer team LA Galaxy. He had moved in down the road from Wahlberg, who was not a fan of the sudden press presence in the area.

“Man, the Beckhams. It used to be so quiet on my road,” Wahlberg said in a 2009 interview with the Daily Mail. “Then David moves in with his family. Suddenly we’ve got paparazzi hanging out day and night. Now they’ll follow any car that drives down the road. I take strong exception to that kind of thing. When I take my kids to the park I don’t want strangers sticking their lenses into our faces.”

“I’m not telling Beckham to take his family home,” he continued. “I’m just not sure why he came to America in the first place. Man, we don’t want your soccer. There’s no way Americans are going to buy the idea of 90 minutes of running around without much happening. Thanks for trying guys, but we’ll stick to baseball and basketball.”

However the two apparently patched things up, and Wahlberg later shared that he wanted to make sure there was no animosity between him and Beckham. “He wanted me to email him about something – I don’t know if it was a film. I had said something, half joking, because his house is at the bottom of our hill and a lot of people hang around the area. So I said something like, ‘I don’t like him being here because of that,’” Wahlberg later told The Sun. “I met him and some of his sons and he seems like a nice guy … I wanted to make sure he hadn’t taken that [remark] personally.”

In August 2021, Beckham agreed to serve as fitness brand F45’s global ambassador, a company which Wahlberg own’s minority shares in. “I’ve been a fan of the F45 franchise and training model since being introduced by my friend, Mark Wahlberg,” he said during a press release at the time.

The following year, Beckham and Wahlberg took a group trip to Canada together. “Great few days in Muskoka with family and friends♥️ wow what a place and yes we laughed a lot & drank a little @markwahlberg @jamiejsalter @tie_domi THE BEST,” Beckham captioned an Instagram post.

Mark then replied: “What a place. What A time❤️😂.”

Wahlburgers, the Barbados cricket team and a collab with P Diddy – Wahlberg’s eclectic business ventures

These days, Wahlberg is perhaps as well known for his myriad business ventures as he is for his acting (and brief rap) career.

It all began in 2014, when Wahlberg, along with his brothers Donnie and Paul opened fast food hamburger establishment Wahlburgers. It was Mark’s idea to expand Paul’s restaurant in Massachusetts into a full-fledged chain, with a reality TV show to promote it.

In 2017, Page Six reported that the two of the Wahlburgers locations in New York had run into trouble, with one of the joints in Coney Island closing down and the company running behind on rent payments. Wahlburgers said at the time:“Wahlburgers required its Coney Island restaurant to close due to a number of factors. The same franchise group was in the process of developing a space in Times Square. In both cases the franchisee was not operating in compliance with Wahlburgers business practices and brand standards.”

Wahlberg has also bought an equity interest of the Barbados Tridents cricket team, after was introduced to the game by Amjal Khan, a friend and the club’s chairman. “I am a huge cricket fan now,” Wahlberg said in a statement after the announcement. “I’m excited to be a part of the Limacol Caribbean Premier League because I know cricket is huge in the Caribbean and a rich part of the region’s heritage.”

After cutting his teeth in the business world in the fast food sphere, in 2015 Wahlberg pivoted to fitness. Collaborating with now-disgraced hip-hop mogul P Diddy and billionaire Ronald Burkle, he invested in Aquahydrate, a bottled water brand. The following year, he co-founded Performance Inspired, a sports nutrition company, with former GNC executive Tom Dowd.

Along with his producing partner and manager Stephen Levinson, Wahlberg also launched Ballers Report, an online platform (and spin-off of their HBO series Ballers) that features inspiring business, entertainment and sports articles, videos and podcasts.

In March 2019, Wahlberg bought a stake in the F45 fitness franchise. Four years later, he became the company’s chief brand officer.  The company describes itself as offering “life-changing gym and functional team training”. It owns over 2,000 studios worldwide, including 1,000 in the US and 500 in Australia where it was founded in 2011 by Gilchrist and Deutsche Wahlberg was named as chief brand officer in 2022.

In August 2023, F45 Training Holdings announced it had delisted from the New York Stock Exchange after its share price fell by 75 per cent. According to Business Wire, F45 had received notice from the NYSE that it was not in compliance with its listing standards.

A litany of alleged racist hate crimes: Wahlberg’s past legal troubles

Wahlberg’s history with the law in his late teenage years was decidedly darker.

While living in Boston in the 1980s, Wahlberg was twice charged for race-related hate crimes, and ended up serving jail time for one of the attacks.

In 1986, a then 15-year-old Wahlberg and three friends were charged for chasing three black children and hurling rocks at them while yelling: “Kill the n*****s” until an ambulance driver intervened. The following day, Wahlberg targeted another group of predominantly black children aged around nine or 10 at the beach. He rallied other white men to join in racially harassing and throwing rocks at them.

Wahlberg was convicted of violating the civil rights of his victims. A civil rights injunction was issued against him and two of his friends, and the case was resolved the following month.

An apparently unrelated second incident occurred two years later in 1988, when Wahlberg attacked two Vietnamese men while high on the drug PCP. He called one man, Thanh Lam, a “Vietnam f***ing s***” and struck him unconscious with a five-foot wooden stick. Later that same day, he punched army veteran Johnny Trinh in the eye. Police reported that Wahlberg used racist language towards both men.

In this incident he was charged with attempted murder, but pleaded guilty to felony assault, claiming that he was intoxicated and denying racial motivation for the attacks.

However, due to his prior civil rights injunction prohibiting him from racially motivated violence, he was found in contempt of court and sentenced to a two-year prison term.

In 2014, Wahlberg attempted to seek pardon for the second attack and have it wiped from his criminal record. “I am deeply sorry for the actions that I took on the night of April 8, 1988, as well as for any lasting damage that I may have caused the victims,” Wahlberg wrote in his pardon application. “Since that time, I have dedicated myself to becoming a better person and citizen so that I can be a role model to my children and others.”

He later dropped this request. In 2016, Wahlberg said he had met with Trinh and apologized “for those horrific acts”. Trinh then released a public statement forgiving Wahlberg.

In a 2020 interview with The Guardian, he opened up further, and claimed that he had “done the work” to make things right.

“I took it upon myself to own up to my mistakes and go against the grain and not be a part of the gang any more – to say that I was going to go and do my own thing,” he explained.

“[It] made it 10 times more difficult to walk from my home to the train station, to go to school, to go to work. But I also prided myself on doing the right thing and turning my life around … I would hope that people would be able to get a second chance in life.”

It may have been a shortened version of the show, as ITV covered the horse racing at Glorious Goodwood, but in the 30 minutes they had to share their thoughts, Coleen ensured that the show was talked about, even if not for the most ‘glorious’ of reasons.

Kaye Adams was in the hotseat, looking to keep the chat flowing between Coleen, Brenda and fellow panelist, Janet Street Porter.

The talk soon turned to the subject of changing sheets on beds.

The question was: “Do you change the sheets for guests?”

Kaye began the response, said: “If they’ve only stayed for a night and they then go…”

Coleen replied: “So, if my sister comes to stay and then the next night my friend is coming to stay, I don’t change the sheets.”

While Kaye seemed to be on the same page when it came to changing bed sheets, Brenda was clearly horrified.

As she frowned in disgust, Kaye asked her: “Why you looking so horrified?”

With Janet agreeing with Brenda, she said: “If anyone comes to stay, as soon as they come out of that bed, change that sheet! Get that sheet! If you’ve only got one sheet, get that sheet in the washer and dryer the same day”

Brenda added: “I don’t want no skin cells rubbing on me, I don’t care if it’s a man, woman, boy or child!”

Brenda was not alone with her thoughts on bed sheets, with viewers in also sharing their views on Twitter.

Another added: “I agree Brenda. Sorry hell no, I’m not sleeping on no dribbled up pillow that somebody else has slept in. You can’t have me sleeping in sheets someone else has slept in, your stale body juice no thanks!”

While a third shared their agreement with Brenda, tweeting: “Haaaa Brenda’s face at Coleen’s bedsheets washing. Same. Fresh linen for any visitor before and after.”

Loose Women star says she’s ‘heartbroken’ over Beyoncé’s ‘deeply offensive’ lyrics

TV presenter Sophie Morgan – who is disabled – has slammed Beyoncé for using a derogatory term in a song on her new Renaissance album – just weeks after Lizzo did the same

Loose Women presenter Sophie Morgan has slammed Beyoncé for using “deeply offensive” lyrics in a song – just weeks after Lizzo did the same.

The telly star, who was left paralysed from the chest down following a car crash, says she was heartbroken after discovering the word in the song Heated.

Beyoncé used the derogatory term, that has often been used to demean people with cerebral palsy, just weeks after Lizzo apologised for using the same word in her song GRRRLS.

Her publicist told the BBC that the word, which can have different connotations across the pond, was “not used intentionally in a harmful way”.

The Lemonade chart-topper’s team also said that the word would be “replaced in the lyrics”.

Talking to the Loose Women panel this afternoon, Sophie said: “The word is a medical phrase but it basically got turned into an offensive term and so disabled people said we want to stop using it.

“So, the word is now what we call an ableist slur. It’s something that we fight very hard to have removed from everyday lexicon.”

Sophie, who was paralysed in a car crash when she was just 18-years-old and relies on a wheelchair, said that this latest incident is “particularly frustrating”.

She added: “When we see pop stars like Beyoncé using [the word], it is heart-breaking for lots of different reasons.

“But one of the reasons it’s particularly frustrating is that only six weeks ago another popstar, Lizzo, used the same term and it had a huge backlash.

“She very gracefully just said ‘right I get it sorry I didn’t realise I caused offence – I don’t want to offend anybody’ and she changed it.

“So all the disability advocates and the campaigners were like ‘thank you’, ‘we don’t need to cancel anybody, there’s no need for that, this is about learning and education’.

“We all hoped that this would be an example of a way in which somebody can taught the ways in which they offended someone and that they could learn from it and globally we can have a conversation that will enable us to therefore say look what Lizzo did, it won’t happen again.

“We all thought there was change made and now less than two months later we’ve got Beyoncé, who is so influential, doing exactly the same thing.”

Sophie and the panel, made up of Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan and Gloria Hunniford, discussed how the popstar’s team seemingly missed the Lizzo news.

ITV)“It makes you wonder, does she have anybody on her team that has a disability? Because we would not have allowed that to happen and we would be trying to police that,” Sophie added.

“It almost feels like we have a step forward with Lizzo and five steps back or ten steps back with Beyoncé and it’s just a little bit demoralising.

“Even the concept of ableism is something we still need to educate people on and so it feels like a constant fight and a constant struggle to be heard.

“It is important to have disabled people in your team, you don’t have to, to be make sure you don’t slip up, but it will mean that these mistakes don’t get made.

“They are deeply offensive and they set back the agenda so far. We thought that we learnt a lesson with Lizzo, but unfortunately it looks like we haven’t.”
