Brenda Edwards will ‘never forget’ vision of Jamal’s death as she shares his special message

Brenda Edwards appeared in her first TV interview with Coleen Nolan today following the death of son Jamal Edwards in February

Brenda Edwards was in tears as she recalled being with her late son Jamal when he died.

The musical theatre star and Loose Women panelist, 48, appeared in her first TV interview today since her son Jamal’s death in February.

Speaking to Coleen Nolan, she was asked how she was doing and she replied: “I’m doing OK… I’m taking each day as it comes.”

Recalling the day he died, Brenda said: “The one thing that I do want to say is I was with him and his sister was with us, we were all at home. It was sudden and it was unexpected and he went into cardiac arrest. Then he passed with me holding his hand, so I get a little bit of comfort from knowing I was with him.”

“As much as that is comfort, at the same time, it’s a vision that I’m never going to forget.”

Brenda revealed that she has a bedtime routine dedicated to her son that “keeps her going”.

“When I wake up every morning – all of his photos are still obviously in the house – and I look at him and say, ‘Good morning, baby’ and ‘Good night, baby’.

“And I think doing that is what’s keeping me going. He always had this lovely, bright smile, just used to light up. He had this funny laugh. I feel his presence constantly and I know I’ve always been somebody who has faith and who believes in that and that has been a massive comfort to me.”

Brenda said that she had felt “overwhelmed” over the sheer volume of support they had received in the wake of Jamal’s death and that they were “so grateful”.

Jamal left instructions for his mum in the tragic event that he would die on how to take over his charities and businesses – and even had instructions for his funeral.

“I was glad to get that instruction from him,” Brenda explained. “He wanted Luton to be involved, he wanted Chelsea to be involved… he had a blue and white theme.

    “It was beautiful.”

Opening up about the day of his funeral, Brenda said: “When we laid him to rest, it was really beautiful. We looked up into the sky and there was a J – the clouds had formed a J. A friend took a picture of it.”

Speaking of Jamal’s legacy, she said: “He said, ‘We all die, the goal is not to live forever but to create something that will.’ And I believe he has created something that will and I’m determined to make sure that it will. That’s my goal.”

Jamal was the founder of the online urban music platform SB.TV and his work in the music industry led him to become friends with several celebs – including Ed Sheeran, Will.i.am, Professor Green and Rio Ferdinand.

Following his death, Brenda penned a statement and shared it with Good Morning Britain, which was read out live on air by Susanna Reid.

“It is with the deepest heartache that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness. Myself, his sister Tanish and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the centre of our world,” she shared.

She continued: “As we come to terms with his passing, we ask for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss. I would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support.

A string of Brenda’s Loose Women stars paid tribute to Jamal and vowed to support her, with Denise Welch writing: “My heart aches for my friend Brenda. I can’t bear it. Jamal Edwards was a wonderful son and brother [sad face emojis].”

Charlene White shared: “Your light shone so brightly that it touched so many of us, impacted the lives of many more, and changed the game forever. And, you are my Brenda’s son. There are no words to describe her heartbreak, our heartbreak, now that your light has gone. Sometimes life is terribly unfair.”

“I have just heard the heartbreaking news that @jamaledwards has died,” Saira Khan penned, “I am devastated for @brendaedwardsglobal and send her and her whole family my prayers and deepest sympathies. I met @jamaledwards whilst filming a children’s show and was struck by his humility and passion to help kids to believe in their talents.”

Carol McGiffin admits Loose Women ‘aren’t best friends’ after being ‘pit against each other’

The Loose Women panel addressed the culture of women being pit against each other in their workplace, as Carol McGiffin admitted the panellists were not ‘best friends’ but ‘all get on’

The Loose Women panellists discussed being “pitted against each other” in the public eye on Tuesday’s instalment of the daytime ITV show.

ITV presenters Katie Piper, Carol McGiffin and Kelle Bryan joined host Ruth Langford for the discussion which kicked off with the news that Countdown’s Anne Robinson has confirmed her departure from the Channel 4 show.

As the 77-year-old presenter stepped down from the popular game show, she has been forced to deny rumours of a rift with co-star Rachel Riley.

Addressing the speculation over her departure, Anne said: “I’m not saying I would go on holiday with Rachel Riley, but she is brilliant.

“Absolutely honestly, I do admire her – she is really, really good at what she does, as is [co-star] Susie Dent.”

Ruth kicked off the conversation on the Countdown rumours by saying: “It always appears to me to be women pitted against women.

“The media particularly like to pit women against women and assume there’s something going on.”

Fellow panellist Katie described it as “almost an obsession” to “find out who is the horrible woman”, noting it didn’t seem to be a phenomenon for men working together.

In January this year, Loose Women bosses strongly denied claims that the hosts were refusing to work with Coleen Nolan after her agent called Nadia Sawalha a ‘nasty witch’ on Twitter.

But Loose Women stars Jane Moore and Katie subsequently told the Mirror they are “past” the endless “rift” rumours associated with the ITV panel.

On Tuesday’s show, Carol then went on to touch on the rumours which swirled around the show earlier this year, saying: “I think there’s a lot of pressure on women to deny there isn’t a rift going on between other women that they work with.”

Ruth then joked: “What are you looking at me for?” and the panel burst into laughter. She added: “We’re best friends Carol.”

Carol said: “Look, we all get on, we all like each other,” but she then said: “We’re not best friends"

ITV)Straight-talking Carol continued, saying: “Look, we all get on, we all like each other,” but she then said: “We’re not best friends obviously, because we all live in different parts of the world, so it’s that geographical thing.

But I do think that this whole thing is about the people who put pressure on to be nice and be kind.

“I’m always told that I’m not nice and not kind. But the people who try and force that narrative are the people who are genuinely not nice.”

Stacey Solomon says she was sexualised for having boobs at 10 years old

Loose Women panellists were discussing flirting when the conversation turned to Stacey Solomon being sexualised at a young age

Loose Women ‘s Stacey Solomon said she was sexualised when her body developed at 10 years old.

The panellist discussed what it is like to have larger boobs and said that most people will ‘think you’re coming on to them’.

“Being a busty girl, it doesn’t matter what you do, people will think you’re coming on to them,” she told her fellow panellists.

While some of them laughed, she continued to explain her point.

“If you’ve got a big shape, like I’ve got massive boobs, and I love them,” Stacey said.

“I remember being a young girl, being a teenager and even before I was a teenager… I developed really young and people automatically thought that it was a sexual thing and assumed I was flirting with them, laughing at them, whatever…

“But I might have been 10 years old but with boobs.”

The conversation began when the women, including Katie Piper, Nadia Sawalha and Kaye Adams, discussed flirting.

Nadia had said people consider her to be a flirty person, but in actuality, she is simply interested in what others have to say.

Katie agreed and said she enjoys speaking to people.

Kaye then added: “I agree you’re, you both like people and you’re interested. But I would say you, Nadia, are flirty. And Katie you’re friendly. And I don’t know why,” which prompted Stacey’s conversation on sexualisation.

Although we don’t yet know the exact date the couple will be getting hitched, a few weeks ago she said it’s three months away – meaning the wedding is to take place in July.

She recently updated fans with a clip showing all the wedding dresses she was trying out at home to find the perfect one.

TOP SHOW Harry’s solo Invictus bash was clear signal to Charles & William – another family have ‘laid claim’ to duke, expert says

PRINCE Harry’s solo Invictus bash was a clear signal to Charles and William, an expert has said.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, was all smiles at St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday during another whistle-stop tour to the UK in which he didn’t visit his dad or brother.

Despite the King being just two miles away from his youngest son, Charles was too busy hosting Buckingham Palace’s first Garden party of the year to meet him.

However, Harry was backed by Princess Diana’s siblings Earl Spencer and Lady Jane Fellowes at the service marking 10 years of his Invictus Games.

Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine and friend of Princess Diana, said the Spencers’ presence was significant.

She said: “They are very supportive of Harry and always have been.

“It sends a clear signal to the Royal Family and to Harry that Diana’s family are there for him.

“At his address at Diana’s funeral, Charles Spencer said he would look out for William and Harry in her place.

“He said, ‘We your blood family will do all we can to continue the imaginative way in which you were steering theses two exceptional young men so that their souls are not simply immersed by duty and tradition but can sing openly as you had planned’.

“Charles Spencer wanted the Spencer family to be prominent above all others, but the boys were sucked up by the Royal Family.

“Now that Harry has left the Royal Family, the Spencers have laid claim to him again.”

Harry hugged his late mum’s brother and sister Earl Spencer, 59, and Lady Jane Fellowes, 67, outside St Paul’s ahead of the service yesterday.
It’ll take time to rebuild Harry & Charles’ relationship – King wants no part of his son Harry’s ‘circus’, expert says
Three cousins — George McCorquodale, 39, Louis Spencer, 30, and Lara Spencer, 18 — sat in a row behind Harry.

Just down the road, the King, Queen Camilla and other royals mingled among 8,000 guests on the Palace lawns.

Harry had been keen to meet his dad on a three-day UK visit, but on Tuesday his office said it was not possible due to the King’s busy diary.

A decade ago Charles, Camilla and Prince William had joined Harry at the first Invictus Games in London.

Yesterday, Harry arrived at 5pm and greeted his aunt and uncle before taking his seat.

The King, back to public duties despite cancer treatment, led the royals at Buckingham Palace from 4pm.

Also on the lawns were Princess Anne, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Edward and Sophie, plus the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

The only working royals missing were the Prince and Princess of Wales.

William had conducted an investiture in Windsor earlier in the day, and Kate is not carrying out public duties due to her own cancer fight.

Applause erupted from the crowds as the royal party arrived on the Palace terrace.

A timeline of Prince Harry and William’s ‘feud’: Brothers ‘at war’

In 2018, the Sun told how “simmering tension” began when William questioned the speed of Harry and Meghan’s engagement.

The first hints of friction reportedly came after William was introduced to Meghan when she was staying at Kensington Palace.

Once she’d returned home to Canada, William and Harry sat down for a brother-to-brother chat.

He knew Harry was already head-over-heels for her but it has been claimed he advised him to take it slowly.

The younger prince reportedly didn’t take too kindly to the advice, with one royal source saying he “went mental”.

Then in June 2019 Harry and Meghan officially split off from the charity they shared with William and Kate.

The Royal Foundation will be divided between the Sussexes and Cambridges as the couples focus on their own separate charitable endeavours.

Prince William and Prince Harry first established the Royal Foundation in 2009 before Kate joined two years later shortly after their engagement was announced.

The trio would often appear together at events and the Foundation had huge successes with projects like the Invictus Games for injured veterans and the mental health Heads Together campaign.

The Royal Foundation said the decision was made following the conclusion of a review into its structure – but added both couples will continue to work together in the future.

Harry and Meg were living in close proximity to Kate and Wills within the Kensington Palace estate, but they switched to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor before baby Archie was born.

The move further increased rumours of a fallout.

Harry, 39, also hinted in his ITV documentary “Harry and Meghan, An African Journey” that he and his brother had grown apart.

It came after Prince Philip called Meghan the “D.O.W” after the Duchess of Windsor — the American divorcee who led Edward VIII to abdicate.

And he warned the late Queen to be “cautious” of Harry’s then bride-to-be, a royal author claims.

Ingrid Seward revealed in new book My Mother And I that Prince Philip felt it was “uncanny…how much Meghan reminded him of the Duchess of Windsor”.

In 2021, Harry and Meghan give their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey where Harry accused his dad of cutting him off financially.

Harry then jetted back to UK to join William in unveiling a statue to their mother Princess Diana in the grounds of Kensington Palace. But sources claimed William didn’t want to attend the memorial amid their ongoing rift.

In 2022, just before their grandmother the Queen died, sources claimed Kate acts as a “peacemaker” between the brothers.

Last year Harry claimed his brother “knocked him to the floor” during an argument about Meghan.

In his book Spare, Harry said William branded Meghan “rude” and “difficult” during a row.

Harry alleged William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor”.

He said he was left with a visible injury to his back following the argument in 2019 at Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, where he was living at the time.

In January this year, Harry flew in to be with Charles after the monarch’s shock cancer diagnosis.

Harry flew back to the US the following day – without seeing Wills.

The King then began greeting charity heroes with warm handshakes and big smiles. He was heard saying: “I’m not doing badly”. Asked ‘How are you feeling?’, he replied: “Not too bad.”

He chatted with Royal Commonwealth Society members plus Team GB’s synchronised swimming team — promising to watch them at the Paris Olympics.

In all, he spent around an hour with guests despite doctors “calibrating” his engagements.

This morning he will meet the 3 Royal School of Military Engineering (3RSME) at Gibraltar Barracks in Surrey.

He and Harry have not seen each other since February when the US-based Duke flew 5,000 miles following his father’s diagnosis.

The pair then spoke for just 30 minutes. Today is Harry’s last in the UK before he and wife Meghan visit Nigeria for Invictus events.

He is currently appealing a decision to remove his automatic right to 24-hour armed police in the UK, stripped after Megxit.

She said: “Ronnie, he’s just won the seventh world title and he’s come back home and he feels flat.

Romeo added another string to his bow when he released his debut cover shoot with celebrated fashion bible L’Uomo Vogue back in 2021.

Collaborating with fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the collection of shots captured Romeo modelling a mixture of designer and vintage clothing.

Sporting platinum blonde locks, Romeo modelled a bespoke look created exclusively by stylist Louis Ghewy.

In keeping with the shoot’s notably casual theme, the teenager wears an oversized green cardigan and grey joggers, teamed with distinctive black leather boots from Italian fashion house Prada.

The 59-year-old politician joined Ruth Langsford, Linda Robson, Brenda Edwards and Jane Moore in the ITV studio to mark the beginning of Arthritis Care Awareness Week 2022.

However, before speaking to Keir about his mother Josephine and her battle with Arthritis, the ladies were keen to ask him about Boris Johnson.

Commenting on Sir Keir’s desire for the Prime Minister to resign, Ruth informed him that 63 per cent of voters branded him a ‘hypocrite’ in a recent poll.

Responding, Sir Keir said: “I think the big difference is that I’ve been very clear that I haven’t broken the rules.

“But equally I’ve said that if the police do issue me with a fixed penalty notice, I will do the right thing and I will step down, so I’ve put everything on the line because I think that’s the right thing to do.”

As Sir Keir referred to Boris’ rule-breaking and ‘Partygate’, Ruth reminded him: “But you’d had a curry takeaway for 30 people delivered, as we understand it.”

Quickly correcting her, he said: “No it wasn’t 30 people, that’s already been retracted,” as Jane chimed in: “How many was it?”

Barely looking at Jane, Sir Keir replied: “About 15 or so,” as Jane fired back: “It’s still a lot.”

Sir Keir continued: “I haven’t broken the rules, but my instinct as soon as I knew Durham had decided they were going to reopen this investigation, in my heart I knew what I was going to say, which is if I’m wrong and they find I have broken the law, then I’ll do the right thing and step down…

“I hope that isn’t going to happen, I don’t think that’s going to happen. But I’m trying to make a bigger point here, because there’s allegations – who did what/when. But there’s a bigger point here, which is trust in politics. The number of times I hear, ‘You’re all the same, you won’t do the right thing’.”

Loose Women viewers weren’t overly impressed with the interview and took to Twitter to comment.

One person posted: “Keir Starmer is getting his a*se handed to him by the #LooseWomen.”

Another tweeted: “loose women on the tv, Keir Starmer being interviewed, absolute car crash interview. what a disaster, the women are tieing him in knots!!! Boris will be laughing at this, no wonder the tories feel invincible #beerwithkeir #beergate #keirstarmer #tories #loosewomen (sic).

A different person added: “Sorry but I think Ruth etc were rather rude talking over him and cutting him short and making a sarcastic joke when he was trying to speak about his mother #LooseWomen.”

Prince Harry this evening reminds the British people of the crucial role that a Royal Family can play in a modern democracy with a constitutional monarchy.

The Duke of Sussex has returned to the UK and tonight will attend the WellChild Awards, which celebrates inspirational stories and qualities of this country’s seriously ill children.

Not even the most ardent anti-Monarchist can have a problem with this. It’s an admirable function for a prince to perform, especially if one concedes a central point of anti-royal types: that the occupants of palaces owe us for maintaining their opulence.
And yet Harry’s attendance is striking precisely because this noble endeavour appears against a backdrop littered with his own idiocy.

That is not to say that attending WellChild is the only useful thing the Duke has undertaken; his Invictus Games can never be taken away from the former soldier. But noticing the good in a man does not mean that we do not see the bad.

What is most incongruous about Prince Harry’s attendance is that he’s behaving precisely as a Royal should. He’s reaching out to the people of this country with an act of kindness.

It is a unifying act, which appears out of place precisely because he has, in the past, sewn such unnecessary division and anger. Rather than assuming that such anger, which often comes from the Press, is the result of journalists’ cruelty, caprice, or even racism, he should consider whether it might have had anything to do with his unbecoming behaviour.

Was it, for example, becoming of a Royal to tell a Sky News reporter “Don’t behave like this” in response to a question? Or was it more becoming of someone not worthy of that station?

Are we expected to respect a man who lectures poorer people about climate change while taking private jets for engagements as trivial as visiting Elton John? We are, by the way, because Sir Elton paid to carbon offset the trip. But it doesn’t seem to occur to the Duke that ordinary people may not have the means to carbon offset their trips abroad. Do without your holiday, peasants, the planet is dying. Flying is only for the rich.

Should we revere, as we did Queen Elizabeth II, a man who writes the following sentence and publishes it in a book?
“There’s just as much truth in what I remember and how I remember it as there is in so-called objective facts.”

This is childish stuff, the sort we constantly hear from political pygmies on social media who genuinely believe there’s such a thing as “my truth” as opposed to the truth.

Perhaps the nadir of Harry’s musings came in his statement that the First Amendment to the American Constitution is “bonkers”. Such a statement betrays an inability to think seriously about the very building blocks of the nation in which he now resides.
It also betrays an ignorance of his country of birth. The Duke, alarmed by the Amendment’s protection of free speech, has clearly never read John Stuart Mill’s On Liberty, or John Milton’s Areopagitica.

If we are to have this Duke continue to represent our Royal Family, however unofficially, and if he wants our respect, let us demand from him conduct of the kind he displayed by attending the WellChild Awards, as opposed to that which has been the subject of countless column inches already.

The Duke of Sussex has been upstaged by a boisterous boy who threw his toys away during an awards night and laughed as Harry picked them up.

The duke met seven-year-old Noah Nicholson who has complex medical conditions when he returned to the UK to honour children, teenagers and their parents who have been recognised with awards from the charity WellChild.

Harry was asked by some of the youngsters whether he had a passport, and received gifts for his own children in the US.

He told one winner at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel: “My award is being here with you guys.”

The WellChild Awards celebrate the inspiring qualities of some of the country’s seriously ill young people and the dedication of those who keep them healthy and happy, including health, social care and education professionals.

Noah has cerebral palsy, chronic lung disease and other serious health issues, but his mother, Tracey Nicholson, 42, from Grimsby, said he remains happy and positive and lives life to the full.

The seven-year-old brought his prized comfort toys George the cat and Ratty the Giraffe in the shape of a blanket and delighted in throwing them on to the floor.

When Ms Nicholson apologised for her son’s antics, Harry, who is WellChild’s patron, replied: “Don’t apologise, I love it.”

Harry recognised Ratty the Giraffe and called the blanket comforter “lovey”, a name used in American, and said: “Every parent has about six spare.”

At one point Noah, who has brain damage and won the most Inspirational Child aged four to six, grabbed Harry’s beard and made him grin.

Noah’s mother said afterwards: “He’s in constant pain but is always happy and smiley. He’s just a very excitable boy and when he’s around people he just loves it.”

“Nothing ever gets him down, he never cries unless the pain gets the better of him. He’s seriously ill fighting for his life so much, but he’s so happy.”

Anya Olweny, 12, named as Inspirational Sibling, asked Harry if he had a passport: “He said he still has to have one.”

The youngster, from Matlock, Derbyshire, was not fazed by meeting royalty and was recognised for supporting her mother caring for her 15-year-old brother Edward, who was born with a chromosomal disorder, is developmentally delayed and severely short-sighted.

Scarlett Cripps, Inspirational Child 7-11 years old, presented Harry with a set of crystal hearts blue for the duke, green for his son Archie, yellow for his daughter Lilibet and purple for his wife Meghan.

Scarlett’s mother, Aby Cripps, said: “Scarlett told Harry she filled the crystal hearts with love and whenever he had a bad day or sad day he had to squeeze the heart and it would show him how special he was and make him smile.”

“He said it was a lovely gesture and he hadn’t seen his wife and his children because he was travelling here, so he’ll take it out later and squeeze them and it will remind him of his lovely wife.”

It is believed Harry arrived in the UK on Sunday, but it seems unlikely he will meet his estranged brother the Prince of Wales, and doubtful he will travel to Scotland to spend time with the King.
